No shaking Bt wait oo, some mumu senators 4rm d south nd christian North will just sit during plenary sleeping while dis bill was rushed through 2nd reading. This is the reason I hate to be drawn into the islamasation of Nigeria gibberish, Dogara is a christian and a member of winners' chapel yet he sits down there to see such a bill crawling and moving into the house. Am sorry, our so called christian politicians are cowards, they only come to church to canvass for votes and kneel before our pastors, when they get to place of power, they sleep on their chairs while such bills are passed. I remember David mark who could not control yerima when that stupid child bill was passed, the bill was already thrown out before yerima started ranting and david mark who calls himself a christian became intimidated. We need to shine our eyes when these politicians come to our churches to seek votes and tell us so and so want to islamise Nigeria when they themselves are sheep in wolf clothing, enough said cos am pissed off. |

EasternActivist: They are fighting for a cause... And in the process their lands are the victims...
They know fully well the consequences but the outcome will surely surpass their sacrifices. And besides their lands are degraded so what more are they preserving?
My only advice to the ND is this, in this case you know your land is already temporary destroyed and can only take decades to get cleaned up but I assure you that right under that land that's degraded, a river of oil is flowing beneath that if utilised properly will subdue the land effects.
Let's support in every way we can so that the ND will get her justice. Let them control their resources and give the federal govt 13% that will do....
I stand with the ND... No to injustice of the ND. we would support but not with the destruction of infrastructures that have taken years and vast resources to build and as for resource control, they pushed and got 13%, what are their lawmakers in the house of assembly for? is it not to push for more allocation to their benefit? they can push further to increase to 50% and more but the question is what have they been doing with the 13% so far. The same politicians controlling 13% will stilll be the one to control 100% and you think it will solve any problem? I repeat oil will never bring development anywhere. |

Aura2: So in your undiluted common sense, to land a product at say 146, you will sell 86 and collect 60 naira in 8 to 10 months in a rigorous exercise. (subsidy regimen). Note that 60 naira in their line of business is running into millions of dollars, sourced through bank loans Without subsidy, you can land it for 146, and collect your 146 at the depot without hassles, which do you think they prefer? Did you say the banks will wait forever? with inflationary trends moving up on a weekly basis? Don't bother answering the questions, you sure have not done business in your life. abegi, who told you its all of them that are actually importing petroleum products, is that not why its a scam, how many of them are actually spending money to import petrol, is it those who pack water and put petrol on top to deceive regulators [of course they too are compromised] that are doing business? madam business woman, if the subsidy regime was that rigorous as you are implying, most of these marketers would have found something better to do that will reduce their hassles. |

lozanni: The Oil importers agreed to a Pump price increase of N86.05 to N145 for Petrol (PMS) with the Federal Govt. on the condition that that they source the forex for imports from independent sources, but have now turned around to say they need forex from the CBN. Its either the marketers are trying to be clever through getting cheap forex from CBN and still selling at the new price of N145 per liter of fuel, thereby making a super-abnormal profit or they have not been, genuinely, able to source for forex from independent sources, to fund the level of import of petroleum products required of them (which was my fear at the beginning). I hope this thorny issue is resolved very soon to avoid unimaginable fuel queues and the attendant hardship for Nigerians. actually this is their aim as surviving without subsidy from Govt is not possible for these marketers. I hope the Govt does not succumb to their blackmail, let's have serious marketers come into the business to make things better, most of these marketers are political jobbers who are too used to freebies from the Govt. |

modath: Every other plan is just short term fix...By the way, most Nigerians do but the ones crying the loudest can't be seen to agree with that point cos it will lead to the question they dread the most; "why are refineries not working" or why didn't one of the over 20 licenses issued for private refineries come on stream....
They won't have response and they can't add zombie, dullard to that argument.. I think this is why Govt is thinking about privatizing the refineries, they themselves know this is the true solution, also the the violence in the ND is not helping matters in that regard, as the refineries in kaduna and warri ought to be more productive now. One of the reasons I try to concur with the conspiracy theory that the marketers may be behind the pipeline explosions, the more the refineries work, the less importation we do. But of course too many enemies to contend with for now. |

As usual, the oil marketers want things easy. only folks like Total, Oando, Mobil and other serious marketers who have all their logistics in place with good organisation can cope with the post subsidy regime, those mushroom marketers that hire tankers with two tires na dem go hear am pass, come to apapa, all those rickety tankers are no where in sight, na subsidy de carry them all these while. |
Politics › Re: Fuel Scarcity Looms As Marketers ‘doublecross’ FG After Price Hike by Goke7: 2:20pm On May 26, 2016 |
Aura2: But you read that the Q4 2015 subsidy was recently paid ie almost 8months of debt on the marketer, don't you think he would have preferred getting his money on delivery? A better explanation is that secondary market doesn't even have enough, ask any BDC for $1m, they will start calling all the geopolitical zones in Nigeria let alone marketers who trade in hundreds of millions. so the cbn should continue to give them dollars at the rate of $197 for them to sell at N145 [which is what the marketers want] you don't get it, these marketers can't survive the post subsidy regime. The money they collect from Govt as subsidy even if its 8 or 10 months later is what makes them stay afloat. If I tell my bank who gave me loan that Govt is owing me, that bank is ready to wait forever to get that money cos Govt will surely pay even with the differentials in value of the naira against the dollar. This is what makes the subsidy regime so profitable to these marketers knowing that Govt can't cope too long with a fuel scarcity as the Public will turn the heat on Govt. The marketers are pretenders, they still want subsidy, forget the deregulation message they preach |

kazuna: I wont say i hate Buhari.... But i despise him nonetheless (guess its d samething as hate)
What u said is true.
The militants should be aggressive towards their state governments and the NDDCs.
Imagine the federal government like Odin (if u are in the Marvel's universe, since we are talking about avengers) He blessed (hands out allocations) to his sons (governors) for them to utilize. These sons fail to deploy, pockets 90% of the money and yet the Avengers will allways strike back at Odin (the FG).
If u dont pressure the governors they will continue to eat ur money. The niger delta, even PH is severly underdeveloped. I could remember the first time i was embarking on a journey to ph, my initial impressions were of a city closer to Abuja in terms of infrastructure (considering the huge revenues they get , almost twice that of Rwanda), i was serially disappointed...in some sense Enugu where i started the journey from seemed well off.
I was angry at the state governments, and i was mad at the people for not reacting against their larcenous governors.
Then i visited Akwa ibom. There were changes. You could at least say some oil money went into gigantuan projects. But She is the exception. Other states seem to just be there...Backwater.
The ND Avengers (i must confess i like u guys, anythang to counter buhari , this might come back to haunt me) should devote their energy to putting their state governments on edge not the FG.
FG doles out the 13%, State governors pockets 10% in offshore tax havens and Britain high real estate. the truth is Oil to Nigeria is a curse, Nigeria will never develop with oil, the niger delta folks are wasting their time and burning their energy instead of channeling it to more profitable ventures. Countries like kenya and ethipoia are growing economically without oil. Nigeria was doing fine before oil came. if we had no oil, Nigeria will be better than south africa by now. if oil was a blessing, those oil communities will be better off today but are they? NO because oil is a curse. The foundation when oil began was faulty and the Bible says if the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do, talk less about the unrighteous. Oil can never do Nigeria any good If they continue with their destruction, it will only push the FG to get off oil as quickly as possible. |
