It doesn't still make any sense to me, I thought we are dealing with professionals and emotional bankers so what if people turn their banks to their purse, is it not their money [depositors money i mean] these guys are talking as if they are the one loading our account for us.

I was one of those people who felt that instead of cancelling the 100 naira charge then why not reduce it to N50, I knew that policy will never last. we are a country where cost of things will never go down and if mistakenly it goes down, it will come up again.

That's the country we live in, am sure this fourth withdrawal nonsense is just a shadow of more to come, in a year's time , they will be back again to tell us that it has been reduced to second withdrawal, we never see anything yet, pure rubbish.

chigo93: broda even mourinho saw d signs ,xavi wasn't getting any younger, casillas wasn't consistent,he should have gone with a koke who could sitback and mark in midfield, and mind you there group was much more difficult than ours, roy hodgson was a coach sacked by liverpool cos of bad results, italy lost cos of d sheer stupidity of balotelli,he had no business collecting dat yellow card,I love keshi,I felt keshi could build on d confederations cup,but he couldn't learn from dat competition,we need a coach who would make substitutions and there will be improvements, not otherwise.
why are u blaming balotelli then, put the blame on the coach, if its Nigeria, you will blame keshi and who says our group was not tough, even argentina found it difficult to break down Iran, and Iran was robbed of a clear penalty, bosnia also gave argentina headache and argentina went on to the finals.

A coach can only make better substitutions if has the players that can execute the improvement you are talking about.

If you have said that you faulted keshi for not taking Nosa Igiebor to the world cup who would have been a perfect replacement for onazi, honestly i would have agreed with you but no coach is perfect even argentina was without tevez who would have been an headache to Germany but all the points you have been making so far are not objective at all.

chigo93: broda a good coach is a good coach, just because moyes didn't succeed with man united players doesn't mean that van gaal won't succeed,a good coach would have succeeded with that super eagles team,a van gaal would have subbed mikel before onazi had that injury, a van gaal would have subbed moses, you can't give what u don't have, keshi simply doesn't really know how to read a football match,he needs to learn, but he is not humble enough to admit that he is deficient,so he sees no need to learn, provided keshi is d coach of super eagles Nigeria will not go beyond d 2nd round come russia 2018.
van gaal would have subbed moses and replaced with who? van gaal would have subbed mikel and replaced with who? if you yourself can't answer these questions, am sorry you have no moral right to say that keshi can't read a football match.

As someone said earlier on this thread, we had already lost some players to injury, do you even know that osahnuwa and ambrose played the second half of the match against France with injuries?
Sports › Re: Keshi Is A Goodman But Not Worldclass by Goke7: 9:27am On Aug 08, 2014
chigo93: ramon azzez from inception is a holding midfielder, even when he was with d u 17 he was a holding midfielder.why didn't he invite guys like john ogu,his reason was that john didn't play enough matches for his club, but ruben gabriel made on 5 appearances for his scottish club kilmarnock and he made them as a substitute.
there is no guarantee that John ogu would have done better either, he was part of the confederations cup that you are also crucifying keshi, for a bad outing too. Please try and be more objective and have a mind of your own instead of being misled by ignorant journalists and so called football analysts who know nothing about football.

If you have a better coach to replace keshi, suggest one but make sure he's a coach that has led a team to the quarter finals of a world cup before and not a tv analyst.
Sports › Re: Keshi Is A Goodman But Not Worldclass by Goke7: 8:35pm On Aug 07, 2014
chigo93: the point I am trying to make is this, keshi has done well to sanitize our football,no more bribes, but we need somebody who understands the technical side of every member of the super eagles,if keshi was technical enough he should have known that ruben gabriel is not a player with a good enough pace and combative agility to compete with guys like griezmann and pogba in midfield.
then who would have replaced onazi, is it ramon azeez who could not gel with the team? all this talk about technicality is misplaced my brother, no coach can do more than the quality of players he has at his disposal, blaming keshi is very unfair
Sports › Re: Keshi Is A Goodman But Not Worldclass by Goke7: 8:32pm On Aug 07, 2014
thegoodjoehunt3: [b]Our top players were Mikel (who was dropped by MoanRinho), Moses who was on bench for almost the whole season at Liverpool, Ambrose who Neymar used to make YouTube clips in the Champions league and Emenike who recovered from injury.

Do you think Klinsmann would have waved a magic wand to build Super stars for the team? Even the MLS is well developed for Klinsmann to find and build a team.

Was Oboabona unfit before the World Cup? Was Babatunde unfit? Was Onazi unfit? These were three crucial players of the team that injured during the tournament. Uruguay could not cope without Suarez. Coach Keshi lost three key players. Yet, he still put up a good fight. I was impressed with the French and Argentina game.

This is the first time in years we have a coach given new players a chance. He works with the team and loses weight and gets sun burnt to make the team better.

None of your Klinsmann and co. can work for months without salary and use their own money to pay staffs to make the Super Eagles shine. Please the Coach has merited his retention.
[/b]
you forgot to add Echeijele to the list, that was another key player we lost to injury
Sports › Re: Keshi Is A Goodman But Not Worldclass by Goke7: 3:30pm On Aug 07, 2014
Another article that is full of contradictions, that keshi is a good man but not world class. The Jurgen Klinsman you are referring to could only get to the second round of the world cup, I don't get it how we conclude that a coach whose team achieved less or on the same level on the world cup is better than keshi. Are u even sure that the US team is better than Bosnia? That US defeated Nigeria in a friendly and so what? if they were that good they should have beaten a not too impressive Belgium side in their second round match.

I say here with all authority that the disallowed goal by bosnia would not have guaranteed them a win over Nigeria. Argentina scored twice against us and we replied until they were lucky with the third goal from a set piece. If we were lucky against bosnia, so be it. France was lucky too against us, matuidi should have gotten a red card and emenike's goal was disallowed in the first half.

when are we going to get rid of this colonial mentality? When the next Eagles coach fail, am sure all keshi haters now will clamour for his return.
Sports › Re: FIFA Salutes Stephen Keshi by Goke7: 3:17pm On Aug 07, 2014
easyelliot: I am resigned to the fact that Keshi is our coach and happy that fifa thinks he did such a great job, but is this the best we have to offer?

Would German coach Low have left a mediocre bench warmer like mikel in despite him constantly losing the ball in his own half?

Do we want a coach that won't listen, its his way or no way at all? Won't select players for flimsy reasons, but selects certain players for curious reasons.

I'll take a starter playing in MLS over an epl bench warmer.

Its time for me to get my coaching licence
I think I got a shot.
Nigerians are too difficult to please, all we do is to run down people's successes even when there are enough evidences! Thank God that FIFA is not headed by a Nigerian

vokalguy: Just because he won afcon does not make him an awesome coach, look time will tell if he is the right guy or not. AFCON is around the corner, we will see if we can successfully defend our crown. One thing I am personally praying for is he at least tries to learn from top managers about man management & tactics... yes once again I have to bring up tactics
@the bolded, another contradictory statement from you and the time you are talking about [whether keshi is right or not] has come and gone, he has won afcon and gotten to the second round of the world cup after guys like you am sure were waiting for the eagles to exit from the first round. If you are saying he should learn from top managers, oh yes i agree with you even the so called top managers keep learning too [learning is dynamic]. Mourinho even needs to learn man management too and tactics or is he 100% okay?

As per tactics and man management can you tell me what happened to the likes of Des bosque [or has time proven that he is a bad coach for spain], Roy Hodson, Fabio Capello, Prandelli who all went out from the first round of the world cup, abi dem no get tactics and man management? even Deschamps had to wait for matuidi to break onazi's leg before we saw his so called tactics, was scolari also lacking in tactics when Germany hammered him 7-1 [just imagine if it was Nigeria, am sure keshi would have been be-headed].

I have my reservations about keshi but I will never join ignorant fans and journalists to pull him down, any coach like keshi who has produced results with a team that is not too talented like its previous generations deserve lots of respect and should be encouraged to carry on until we are sure we have a better replacement who will carry on from where he has stopped and not starting all over again with inexperienced coaches.

We can take a cue from Netherlands who has replaced a world class coach with another world class and renowned coach, that should be the standard we should be following now.

dabossman: Yeah, the administrators don't help at all. It's also funny how people continue to say Keshi has zero tactical acumen without even taking a look at the players who will execute the tactics. How many of our players are expert at set pieces for their clubs? How many play regularly in the top leagues. Even those who work with world class coaches in Europe, how well do they fare? How many are in the top 20 in their positions globally? A coaches tactics is only as good as the players who will execute them and how thing turn out on the field of play. Where did Vincente Del Bosque's tactical acumen disappear to at the last World Cup? What of Prandelli? Scolari? Under Keshi Nigeria has played better than we have in a while. We've seen some brilliant performance against Ivory Coast, Mali, Italy; even Uruguay and Argentina that we lost to.

Keshi is not the best coach in the World, we all know that, but he is one of the best in Africa and that's a fact. Unless we are ready to employ the likes of Hiddink, Van Gaal, Capello, Prandelli, Loew and so on, we should just cut Keshi some slack. Truth is even those World Class coaches can't guarantee success. Berti Vogts and Lagerback come quickly to mind.
Thank you very much jare you are so spot on unlike other unenlightened folks who think we have players like messi, di maria, robben and other world class players who are game changers, even with these so called world class players you are not guaranteed a successful outing either.

Nff don't have the money to employ the likes of Hiddink and co and the Nigerian Govt has too much problems on their hands to waste tax payers' money on foreign coaches that is why sticking with keshi is our best option for now until he starts churning out terrible results

dabossman: Dude, I like you patience o. Can you imagine his suggestions? Every single one of them untested. He didn't even say Siasia. And he compares them to a man who has coached three African national teams, qualified two countries for the senior World Cup, reached the round of 16 at a World Cup and won AFCON. Tomorrow if NFF should appoint any of those he suggested and they don't perform, he will still come here and call them names or say they won some games by luck.
me sef I tire, I almost fell off my chair hearing names of kanu and Okocha, we deceived ourselves too much in Nigeria anyway since there are over 100million coaches in Nigeria, people believe that just anybody can coach the Eagles which is pure fallacy. It takes a lot of guts to be Eagles coach especially with the kind of sports administration Nigeria only westerhof and keshi kind of coaches can survive more than 2 years on the Eagles job.

MegMich: Have already suggested we should try Okocha,Oliseh,Kanu or Garba....beta men full ground.
surely you do not understand my posts so far, we can't have experimental coaches anymore, we've tried it in the past with sia sia when we promoted him from being a youth coach to the senior national team and we all know the result, this is not supersports tv analysis o, we are talking about the Senior National team here and you are mentioning okocha and oliseh because of what you are watching on tv, we should see what Garba will achieve with the u-20 before we rate him and i tell u if he fails to win the u20 world cup which we've never won before, nobody including you will reckon with him anymore, this is not u-17 o, your suggestions are nothing to write home about.

If you can't mention or suggest a coach that has gotten to the quarter finals of the Senior world cup for men and not for boys, then am sorry you have no moral right to pull keshi down, all your so called suggested coaches are not better than keshi period. A good coach is measured by the level of his achievements as a coach and not as a tv analyst.

MegMich: My dear! Is it not obvious Keshi has under achieved?. Safe for the referee, we won't have made the round of 16.
No doubt he's done QUITE well, I still put it down to LUCK.
He's spent 2years so whatWhat of VanGaal, Sabella, not to talk of Mourinho who has performed consistently!
Consistency is the name of the game. If you ask me, he's in the same league as Chelsea's Di matteo, Avram Grant to mention but a few. He's no where near class.
He aided Togo in their world cup quest....what happened afterwards? They couldn't even scale through the group stage of the nations cup @ Egypt 2006. What happened when he headed Mali? Same story.
Luckly, NFF employed him. He handed us the Nations cup. So what? The games we played through luck.@ world cup,
a group Arsene Wenger predicted we did emerge from. He clamed Iran build a wall in front of Goal. What an excuse! How did Argentina and Bosnia break it? Excuses!!!
We saw this coming tho!!! Didn't win any of our preparatory games.
Nigeria a mediocre team? Yeah, just maybe. Look @ Costarica Algeria etc are they any better?
Blamed the loss to Argentina to respect!!! Yeah, just like Costarica respected the likes of Italy,Uruguay...EXCUSES.
He blamed it on in-experience. Hmmmmmm!, Colombia is huh?
Keshi abeg take your trade elsewhere.
What ain't good for Mali and Togo is definately not good for Nigeria.
I rep Naija!
Name a better coach and stop all these rantings, we Nigerians are only good in talking about the problems we face, but to talk about solutions that will bring better results, we chicken out, that's why we will continue to celebrate mediocrity.

Tell me about a better coach that can replace keshi who has may be the same level of achievement, the Netherlands have just replaced louis van gaal with another great coach in Guss Hiddink who has also gotten to the semi final of the world cup before, they did not settle for a baby coach or a TV analyst, that is how to move forward. Do we have a Nigerian coach that can rival keshi for now and if you want to go for a foreign world class coach, can you pay him? we need to face reality man, even nff knows this!
Sports › Re: Keshi Officially Accepts Offer To Stay On As Coach Of Nigeria by Goke7: 12:32pm On Aug 05, 2014
MegMich: Keshi given so much? Soooo true!!! Nigeria has rather given him a lot. A chance to represent us as a player, an employment opportunity even when we could employ better hands and considering he had no job after been sacked by Mali and Togo, and an opportunity to explore our talented nation which however yielded meagre nations cup amid several poor showings(a cup common Zambia won with so much flare). One would point to the fact they defeated. CIV. Hellooo! Zambia did same.
Can't see what's special about Keshi. He's smartly diverted our attention to other issues while assessment of his performance is left in the lurch.
Big boss my foot! Several players have represented their nation in both capacities and have done well. He can't fool us anymore, save for the nations cup, he did be in the labour market long ago.
We need to assess him, his poor tactis and selection skill. Can't even read a match!!!.Seriously wondering why the likes of Ameobi, Moses and Mikel(both of who played less than a handful of match for their clubs),Agbim, yobo were selected!!!
With Keshi, we've seen enough to Know there no space for room improvement.
NFF let Keshi go!
I rep Naija
can u please suggest a better coach than keshi who will lead to us to the promise land? if you can I will agree completely with all you have said but should I remind to suggest coaches that have gotten to the quarter finals of the world cup if not the all this your talk about tactics and selection skill will be crap, if we really want to move forward let's be sure that we are heading in the right direction.

oya to you my brother please suggest better coaches to back up all your points, am listening!
Sports › Re: Keshi Officially Accepts Offer To Stay On As Coach Of Nigeria by Goke7:
dabossman: While I agree that Keshi needs help to improve as do most African coaches, you also have to agree that we play more African teams in competitive games than the big European or South American teams. We play World cup and Nations Cup qualifiers against African teams all year round, not to talk of AFCON and CHAN every two years. We only meet the Europeans and South Americans competitively every four years at the World Cup or Confederations Cup (if we win Afcon).

So, if Keshi has the "juju" over African teams, it's a good place to start. He hasn't lost to any yet if I recollect correctly.
'This is one of the best posts I have ever read on this matter' Thank you very much, a lot of Nigerians are just hating on keshi just because he did not select their preferred players which is a chicken excuse to pull down a coach that has transform a team that could not qualify for afcon to a team that not only won the next edition of afcon but also got to the second round of the world cup.

we have to judge keshi based on where super eagles was when he took over to where the eagles are now with him being in charge. Judging keshi by comparing his team to the 1994 squad which had more talented and quality players is one of the most silly thing to do.

I believe we can finally assess keshi after the afcon next year, if the eagles can't get past the quarter final or semi-final, then we can let keshi go since we would still have 3 yrs to the next world cup of which we should go for a coach that has gotten to the quarterfinals of a world cup before to coach the eagles, anything short of this is going back to square one.

we must define our obejectives but for now its better keshi remain as coach

MegMich: Bad business!!
Many say it's good for continuity---what is there to continue? Poor performances huh?
Don't have anything against Keshi buh its obvious he's ran out of ideas or rather luck.
Evidence---couldn't eliminate a depleted Ghanian team @ CHAN,could only win Haiti @ CONFED, qualified for round of 16f albeit luck, poor referee showing and spirit of sportmanship of Bosnia... Failed to sub his golden boy Mikelis Obilis, poor selections( Ameobi,Azeez,Yobo...endless list)
You only give room for improvement when reasonable space exists.
What ain't good for Togo and Mali definately will do us no good.
He said he's got offers? Where are they? Even South Africa has abandoned him.
Keshi will do us no good..
We've got better men-- Oliseh, Kanu, Okocha etc
I don talk my own.
@the bolded, I think this is an unfair and disrespectful comment, I have my own reservations about keshi but I will never crucify him like you and some other Nigerians are doing. If Nigeria is really confident of getting a better coach than keshi, then they would have fired him immediately after the world cup.

We are only deceiving ourselves about this keshi's matter, only a coach who has taken a team to the quarter finals of the world cup is better than the big boss, if you can't get that kind of coach, then its better you stick with keshi except you want to go back to the wilderness of football where keshi has taken us out of [even the nff knows this na shakara dem just de do]. Oliseh, kanu, okocha should coach likes of mali and togo first to know what coaching is like before we experiment them with the super eagles.

I have my issues with Keshi though but seriously if I will answer the question above, its only a coach who has gotten to the quarterfinal of a world cup tournament that will be a better replacement for keshi, all this talk about keshi's tactics is gibberish.

My second question, can nff pay a better coach [one that has gotten to the world cup quarterfinal before] than keshi now?

We are joking with the future of our National team if keshi is sacked or he resigns now, let him defend the nations cups next year which is just some few months away and then we make up our minds finally, its too premature to let keshi go now, only unintelligent minds will not agree.

Babayaro is the confused one here, the fact is keshi is ready to go, nff wants him to go but the almighty Federal Govt thru the sports ministry wants him to stay. he told his players he was going which got to the media and then The powers that be [the presidency] asked why he did that and that's was the reason he denied the reports.

Keshi is in a dilemma, he knows nff wants him to go but when the number one citiizen and those that can even change the name of the country is beckoning on you to stay, its difficult at times to take a decision.

My advise to keshi is to use the Guardiola's style, tell the powers that be that you need a break of one year to think about it and then make ur escape like Guardiola or I will advise nff to give keshi a mandate of defending the afcon title he won by getting to the final in 2015 afcon or resign.

Third option nff can give keshi a 2yr contract since the next world cup is still four yrs away and qualifiers won't start until late 2016, within the next 2 yrs we can still accomodate keshi and make our minds finally, there is no other major competition for now except afcon 2015.

I believe this can solve the fiasco we are in now
