Sports › Re: Enyeama Dropped Because Of Confederations Cup Blunder by Goke7: 9:21am On Jul 19, 2013
We Nigerians are just getting worked up for nothing, no thanks to immature journalists who cause all sorts of controversies, this is just a friendly match for God's sake where opportunities are given to other players who are yet to get into the starting eleven, I bet you keshi would have to love to test more players but of course these immature journalists will start ranting again especially with the support of the likes of Oliseh and co. In life there will be priorities, the confed cup was never a priority for even NFF talk less of Keshi. This is just a friendly match with lowly ranked South Africa of which if we win, will not even help us on the FIFA rankings. When Enyeama begins to loose form, we Nigerians will blame Keshi again for not getting a replacement on time. We all know the abilities of Enyeama, let's also know the abilities of other Goal Keepers.

The same Goal.com also caused the controversy of Kenyans being treated badly when they came to Nigeria for the world cup qualifier, Goal.com was the website that pasted the pictures of the Kenyans training on a primary school play ground. Sometimes the media are the ones who causes conflict in teams and among their supporters/fans.

breezy047: You called back Mikel, Echejiele, Ambrose, fegor ogude from those years of rusty football. . .

And look at what magnificence Mikel's experience is now bringing to the team. . .the same Mikel that used to bring part-rubbish, part-laziness to the midfield.
cheesy

What Oliseh is saying is. . .

If you could bring back the experience of Mikel to the confeds, then why not bring back the experience of Nsofor, Martins, Eneramo and other top vibrants cards instead of the sober and confused inexperience of the Gambos. cheesy cheesy

Use the right tools that you have for the right competition.
Ambrose and echejiele were in the u20 world cup in Canada 2007, Mikel from u20 world cup in Holland 2005, Mikel only made his Nations debut in 2006 comapred to osaze who has been coming a long way from 2002 Nations cup, Ogude is a green horn too so the players you mentioned are not from the so called rusty years.

I think the problem is that so many people are not happy that some certain players were not part of the winning squad of AFCON!
Sports › Re: Sunday Oliseh Replies Stephen Keshi! - by Goke7: 9:56am On Jul 11, 2013
Let me just repeat what I said earlier, Keshi's undoing and biggest problem was winning The AFCON, so many people including his former super eagles teammates and other ex super eagles players are still finding it difficult to come to terms with that feat in South Africa, its sometimes very difficult for people to accept one's success, they wish you well before you succeed, but when you do, they become enemies, Keshi now have more enemies and opposition than he had before the Nations Cup. This is a fact so difficult to believe!

dabossman: I think what Oliseh and a lot of my countrymen fail to realize is that the quality of our so-called foreign based pros has also fallen, and it is still due to the poor quality of our league(which for me is the only real point Oliseh made). How good are the players we have exported to Europe in the last 10 years? How consistent have they been?

Even in Africa our players have failed to win the African Footballer of the Year. Many times they even failed to make the final 3. We can cry all we want that is is Hayatou that is scheming us out, but the same Hayatou was there when Yekini, Amunike, Ikpeba and Kanu won the award. We are not producing quality players any more period. Let's stop over-hyping our average players.

These are the top 15 teams according to http://www.clubworldranking.com/

1. Bayern München
2. Barcelona
3. Real Madrid
4. Chelsea
5. Atlético Madrid
6. Manchester United
7. Borussia Dortmund
8. Benfica
9. Juventus
10. Málaga
11. PSG
12. Arsenal
13. Valencia
14. Tottenham Hotspur
15. Grêmio

Only two Nigerians play for any of these clubs - Mikel and Moses (Chelsea). Another list of rankings include Milan, PSG, Porto, Ajax, Shaktar Donetsk and Udinese; all clubs that have had no Nigerian player shining there that I can remember in the last 5 years.

Compare this to the 90's and early 2000's when we had the likes of Amunike(Barcelona & Porto), Oliseh(Ajax & Dortmund), Babayaro(Chelsea), Okocha(PSG), Kanu(Inter & Arsenal), Taribo(Milan & Inter), Aghahowa(Shaktar), Obodo(Udinese)

For over a decade now we have been looking for the next Yekini, Oliseh, Okocha etc without success. Many have shown promise only to fade away after the initial gra gra. The team that played at the Confed was largely foreign based, not homebased. Keshi has tried so far with the quality of players he has used. Give him some credit.
Thank you very much Sir for defining top quality and experienced professional players, i hope this will help so many people on this forum and even the mouth running oliseh!
Sports › Re: Sunday Oliseh Replies Stephen Keshi! - by Goke7: 11:31am On Jul 10, 2013
simcare: Oliseh made an honest observation on the inclusion of 8 home based players in a team that is going to face champions of continents and champions of the world.Home based players need a good enviroment of experienced foreign professionals to do well competitions like confederations cup and world cup. The foreign based players like Babatunda, Ujah, Fegor Ogunde, Oguh have no business in super Eagles just as home based players like Gambo mohammed.
Keshi should desists from taking good natured criticism with a pinch of salt if he really want to succeed.
Please if may ask sir, just like others on this forum have also been asking, who are this so called experienced foreign professionals that Keshi left out, can we please for christ's sake stop being deceived by Oliseh's grammar? Experienced professionals are those who have won laurels both for country and club. That's why Diego Forlan [as old as he his] is still in the Uruguay National team, including the likes of Buffon and Pirlo for the azzuris of Italy, do we have experienced professionals like these guys now? enough of the deceit plsssssss?
Sports › Re: Sunday Oliseh Replies Stephen Keshi! - by Goke7: 11:08am On Jul 10, 2013
collynzo2: The only thing good about this Oliseh's article is his use of English, that's what is deceiving many people, that's what our politicians use in deceiving us too. Every single point Oliseh made can be picked apart, some are blatant lies. How could he say our league was on fire in the 90's, yet no continental title to ahow for it. Our clubs couldn't even make it to the group stages of continental competitions then.
God will bless you very much my brother, i thought i was the only one who had this view,Oliseh's use of English has deceived even so called Journalists and Analysts, what a pity! Nigeria's league has not been that good for a very long time, if the league was that good in the 90s according to the Gospel of Oliseh, why did he go abroad? sheer hypocrisy.

mbhs139: The point is you don't go to a mini-world cup to test new players. If you agree with that, then you agree with Oliseh. I don't know what those criticizing Oliseh has against him?
Confederation's cup is no mini world cup, FIFA only blew it bigger, used to be King Fhad's cup before it was taken over by FIFA, and pls the world cup qualifiers were more important for Nigeria.

Kennykenty: Attacking an achiever who av turned our Green Eagle to a dear team now is mischievous by someone who i respected so much. Where are u when all of us who love Nigeria(EAGLE) are in state of sorrow lately, when ur so called Pro. are bragging and show bigmanism when playing. Winning of matches does not matter in most of the time, but u feel proud and delighted when u see ur team playing good soccer. B4, our Eagle are pathetic to watch, and u have d gut to attack someone who has brought happiness to my life. Are u enemy of progress?. Can't u see how my boy(Mikel) is playing now, thanks to great coach and his good team. I know u ar broke and jealous of his job. Money is your mission. Stop ur criticism. NO POINT.
Thank you very much sir, the respect I have for mikel now is x10. Kudos to the big boss, he takes all the credit. Like I said earlier, a lot of people are just intimidated.
Sports › Re: Sunday Oliseh Replies Stephen Keshi! - by Goke7: 10:14am On Jul 10, 2013
Keshi's undoing and big problem is that he won the AFCON which the NFF President, NFF members, Nigerian Journalists, All Nigerians and including mouth running Oliseh did not expect at all. Truth be told, Keshi's triumph at AFCON has intimidated a lot of people including Oliseh, just because Gambo Mohammed missed a glorious chance which the likes of Fernanado Torres are culprits too made Oliseh to rant like a kid, I was really disappointed in Him, he even made reference to the South African league that has not produced quality players for their National Team but will any South African run down their league on a platform such as Supersport? Oliseh should take a cue from Samuel Kuffor for Christ's sake, has he ever run down Ghanaian league on supersport before? Oliseh goofed on this one abeg, he should control his emotions which has been his problem since he was a player.

Finally, i appeal to all Nigerians, what makes great National team players is the result they produce by winning laurels for their beloved country, the likes of Pirlo and Buffon will continued o be used by Italy cos they are world cup winners, if you have so called experienced National team players who have not won anything for their country, they deserved to be dropped from the national team for fresh legs to be tried after all results is what make coaches to keep their jobs, Mba, Obaboana are great players because they have produced results that some others after years of playing for the national team have't produced, so whether they are foreign or homebased, results is what we need, the goal gambo scored last saturday, some foreign based players can't score, let's stop deceiving ourselves as long as keshi keeps producing results, he is on course and don't forget, the world cup qualifiers were the priority for Keshi and even the NFF and not the confederations cup that's why we got the desired result against kenya and Namibia, have we forgotten so soon that it was Obaboana who got the equalizer against Namibia thru a free kick? Oliseh should grow up abeg? The conferadations cup is a glorified friendly tournament just as someone said earlier? I rest my case.

jesuslovesme123: Where in the bible does it say that the miracle of healing will be guaranteed for all sick Pastors, or for everyone? People tend to think that the 'benefits' of Christianity include access to 'freebies' such as healthcare, miracles, etc. Those who think this way have missed the point.

The one thing that is guaranteed for all (TRUE) Christians (who die in Christ) is an eternity with God, rather than one in hell.

Yes - God heals people, but God always looks at the bigger picture and grants healing in line with this bigger picture. He knows what we don't.
You must be a very matured christian and full of wisdom. God bless you real good. Thank you very much for the insight. I hope this help everyone on this forum.

I think Romario is an ungrateful person, when he won the world cup in USA 94. did he know how much was spent for him to enjoy himself in US, he was also in France 98, did he know how much was spent, just because he's now a congress man does not mean he should be running his big mouth, this just shows that Brazil prefers to be hosted and enjoy what other countries in the world has to offer rather than spending their own money for others to enjoy. hosting the world cup comes with a big price to pay and in the first place was the hosting right forced upon them, they won the bid after lobbying everybody with the same money they are now complaining not to have to host the world cup, Brazil really surprised me , I thought they were above this rubbish.

before AFCON enyeama has been found wanting on some occasions conceding cheap goals against malawi and liberia away, he only made up with his heroics at AFCON. Ejide was almost being considered ahead of him but for the injury he suffered against cape verde in a friendly. He has also gone ahead to concede goals against kenya, Namibia and Tahiti, there's no problem if we can try someone else, remember he's ageing too!

Sports › Re: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Player Rating by Goke7: 12:26pm On Jun 21, 2013
kokosheen: In my opinion, Efe Ambrose cost Nigeria both goals.

1st Goal: Forlan’s hopeful cross into the box was seen by Cavani, Omeruo was marking Logano but had to rush at Cavani.
At this point Efe wasn't marking anyone and just stood like a statute. If Cavani had tried to control the ball, Omeruo would have blocked him off, but he attempted a back leg flick which didn't connect and the ball rolled on to Logano - Efe was still ball watching.
Logano scuffs his shot, deceiving Enyeama and Uruguay scores (I don’t blame Enyeama).

2nd Goal: Musa comes in deep to pick-up the ball, Elderson created space for himself but Musa didn’t pass to him and was dispossessed of the ball – mistake 1.
Mistake 2 is a violation of the Football rule 101 – If your other full-back is in an over lapping position, you stay by the center-line or in direct view of your center halves so as to have good cover should your team lose possession in midfield (especially if the game is balanced and you’re not seriously hunting for a goal). Efe flaunted this basic defending rule and the most painful thing was that he didn’t even make effort to recover his position but was just watching as Forlan utilised the space he created to score (no goal keeper can stop that shot).

I respected Efe at the nation’s cup but grew sceptical after his performances for Celtic at the UEFA Champions league (I thought it was mainly due to fatigue). His performance last night was woeful, and makes me feel his real age should be closer to late 30’s rather than the 24 years football age.

Efe Ambrose rating: 1.0 (the 1 is for showing up for the match).
I agree totally with you i feel its better we use convert him to a defensive midfielder he looks enterprising when going forward. Surely he caused the goals.

DailyNews: I was disappointed last night, amidst all effort I made not to sleep off in order to catch the full glimpse of the game that ended in a heartbreak.

Honestly, Super Eagles need a sharp striker with the following skills:

1. Dribbling at high speed
2. Fast pace like Cristiano Ronaldo/Arjen Robben/Bale

And we also need to learn how to use wings like Man U and Bayern Munich. Wingers play a vital role in soccer, but unfortunately we hardly utilize our wings.

Can't Nigeria ever have strikers like: Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba or at least Fabregas pls? Is high time

Keshi look for a fast paced striker with excellent dribbling skills to convert goals for us.

Enough of those passing ball front and back pls....still under the shock. Sighs
Emenike and Moses possess the skills u are talking about in fact uruguay should thank God those guys were absent!

collynzo2: You are a very big liar, you twist facts alot, this is the second time you are doing it on this thread. Firstly Kanu scored 12 goals not ten, Secondly Yakubu scored 21 goals for Nigeria, I think he's second behind Yekini so he can't be the most useless player for Nigeria. To say Yakubu was never 'crucified' by fans is the biggest lie ever. What has Mikel done wrong compared to Osaze, has he ever left camp and returned to his club without permission just like Osaze did when Sia Sia was in charge? Has he ever blasted the fans/coach/journalists/NFF officials in public like Odemwingie? You are a great liar. Finally how many matches has Musa been used as a striker? How about Moses? How many matches have they played for the country? Musa has 5 goals, Moses has 4 in less than 1 year. Odemwingie scored 9 in 10 years and you guys make it look like he's the best thing since sliced bread. Can I ask a question Please, how will Keshi tell Yobo with respect that he is no longer relevant to the national team without Yobo still ranting, we Africans by our nature find it difficult to let go even when the ovation is loudest. There is no way you can tell an African man with respect that he is no longer needed without any bad feelings, let's be honest and appreciate keshi's headache for once. It would have been easier if Yobo had retired voluntarily immediately after the nations cup. Former France International Trezequet retired without any qualms when he knew the coach then was no longer interested in him. We Africans should learn how to manage our emotions [same goes for Osaze, Emenike e.tc.] or is playing for the National Team now a do or die affair? Just asking! Yobo cannot be in the National Team forever after all we all will soon start complaining of recycled players.

I think The Cathloic Church is just playing Holier than thou atitude! This is a very bad signal especially at this critical time and am sure the real enemies of Nigeria are rejoicing now. Pastor Ayo will not be CAN President forever, his tenure will surely come to an end so if the new CAN President is a catholic then they will be back abi? Its a pity, the Catholic Church surely has goofed on this one even though they say it is at the National Level. What about all the scandals we hear from the Vatican. The former CAN President[who is a catholic] was very close to the Presidency just recently when he was made a Cardinal, the Presidency was fully involved and when he was CAN President he was also heavily criticised but no one pulled out. It's so painful that Christians cannot take a united stand on the way forward for this country. I have my reservations about Pastor Ayo but the truth is he has been more vocal than the former CAN President on issues about the nation and has always made this known even in the presence of President Jonathan. The Catholic Church should wake up and stop playing God! All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. I rest my case.

Kpac: Pastor and Politics
Because we've had a pastor so concerned about this country doesn't make him fake. Even in d bible, every of God's prophets were different from eachother and if there's anyone that belives so much in diversity, its God himself.
A pastor is not a robot, as a matter of fact, they are referred to as shepherds.....If nothing bad happens to their sheep,if the grasses are green for their consumption, the water is clean for their cleaning, drugs are available for their treatments, every shepherd would be happy and when he stands and looks at his flock,he would be just so excited and fulfilled.....But when his sheeps are struggling and suffering, thou he maintains calm amongst them,he is ready to fight anything for the sake of his sheeps......
Every sunday morning, pastors are faced with so much difficulties their members are facing, some lost their lives due to bad roads, some are lying sick for months at the hospital due to poor health infrastructures, some had their shops demolished due to strict goverment measures, some had dropped out from school because the school fees have been increased by 150%,some have just lost their jobs, some are in critical condition just because they unsuspectedly took fake drugs obtained in a chemist, some are jobless for months, running into years, despite having a bachelor's degree, some came announing their intention to return back to the village because the house rent has toppled and some of the members have their life savings forced out of them as fines paid because they were caught passing one way,in a bid to avoid making his only car break down in an unpassable water logged very deep pit on his own normal lane..........
If you are a good shepherd and your sheep suffers any of these and still hears the president of your country spends about 40 Million naira daily on food, newspapers, diesel and drinks,I wonder how you would still be able to look into your sheep faces, open your bible and again preach to them hope, when its glaring the hardships are due to poor governance.
Even from the old testaments,God has always being actively involved in politics.
If your own pastor doesn't talk about politics at all and anotherr do,please do not criticize, they have their difference in their calling,in their nature and in their life phylosophies.
Thank you very much for educating a lot of Nigerians especially hypocritical christians
Politics › Re: Fashola Signs Lagos Road Traffic Bill Into Law-trucks Are Prohibited B/w 6am-9pm by Goke7: 1:03pm On Aug 03, 2012
GNBohr: Fasola is a joker. Being a SAN doesnt mean you just throw laws at people or does he think he is doing a law research. Some provisions of these laws contradict his previous laws and unenforceable. There are articulated trucks moving food from other parts of the country, like livestocks, onions, yams, etc to the markets in Lagos that are enforced by law to close by 6pm. So the trucks come in, wait till 9pm to enter the metropolis. How do they offload at an already closed market. You can begin to imagine the chaos from this provision alone. How do you prove I was eating maybe gala after I have swallowed it. How do you punish me for not reporting if you discovered a parked car near my house is abandoned. How do you determine abandoned vehicle. Is this law out to kill the growing logistics businesses that operate articulated trucks such as DHL, Dangote, and thosew running container terminals and warehouses. Now they should shift their operations to the night. What about construction companies and telecom operators moving materials and equipment to from port, warehouses and work sites. Oh, all these projects should all be executed at nights. Fasola is indeed a joker if he thinks solution to traffic problem in Lagos is just inking to a piece of paper called law. The solution is infrastructure, if roads are repaired, particularly inner street roads everybody will not be driving only on the main roads. All the link roads to major highways in Lagos are terribly bad. Most roads in residential communities in Lagos that people can use as a detour to other communities are unmotorable. If Nigerian govt did not kill railway, articulated trucks will not be a menace. If jobs are available and they have not used corruption to destroy the economy, youths will not become okada riders. They created these problems and no law can fix them unless and until necessary infrastructure development and job creation are done. Since KAI have been molesting people, has street trading and hawking stopped. Not that I supported street trading but KAI is not the solution. I rest my case.
