RedBenson: The two goals conceeded during 1st half was attributed to pourosity of the mid-field of which Mikel was given a mandate to hold. And, Onazi had to run upfront atimes due to lack of efficiency from the part of Mikel. Even at then, a good striker can only be effective where good mid-fielders exist. How many passes did Mikel as a mid-fielder (who is supposed to be creating chances for strikers) release throughout the match? Believe it or not, Mikel is a big time flop and should be kept aside from the national team until he improves in his career.
stop making excuses for onazi and let's be objective, if mikel has to go, onazi have to go too, is it only mikel that was the midfielder on that pitch? what of azeez, they all messed up big time so let's give all of them the sticks and not single out one person , what of the glorious chances that igiebor had against congo and south africa respectively, are u blaming mikel for that too?

the porous midfield you'r talking about comprised of mikel, onazi, azeez and igiebor who came in later in the second half. They all flopped including the defenders who could not keep up with the pace of the congolese, so singling mikel out is very unfair and biased.
Sports › Re: Can Super Eagles Do With Out Mikel? by Goke7: 1:22pm On Sep 12, 2014
of course we can do without mikel, but are we ready to wait for mikel's replacement to mature and bring good results for the team after a string of bad results? remember how long it took mikel and co to win the Nations' cup after the exit of okocha and the likes.

If we are ready as fans to be patient with younger players and not crucify them when they make mistakes then the better it will be for us as a nation but in nigeria, coaches are under a lot of pressure to bring qucik fix results and nothing more
Sports › Re: No Eagles Without Mikel — Keshi by Goke7: 12:37pm On Sep 12, 2014
RedBenson: Which better replacement are you talking about? In world cup encounter with France, if Mikel was so important, why was the mid-field crumbled the very minute Onazi was taken out of the pitch due to injury? Mikel was just there doing nothing and Onazi was kiling himself keeping mid field all alone and to show how important he was, the French side had to down him to have breakthrough with the eagles and they got it rightly in which Yobo even helped them in scoring one additional goal. Mikel was so good, Mourhino put him on sale and no club came pricing. He further put him on loan and yet no club came for Mikel. Imagine the nonsence the young man played in the last two national matches. If Kechi doesnt drop mikel for us to succeed in our subsequent matches, i think it will be high time NFF needs his services no more. Mikel is a big time flop. Kelechi Iheanacho is dwell and should be given a chance.
same onazi was the worst culprit in the game against congo, bumping forward unnecessarily, mikel alone cannot blamed, what were likes of omeruo, ejide and obaobona thinking when we conceeded two goals in the first hallf against congo, are u blaming mikel for that too? common, the entire team messed up even off the pitch, emenike reported late to camp, will u blame mikel for that too?
Sports › Re: No Eagles Without Mikel — Keshi by Goke7: 12:31pm On Sep 12, 2014
iconize: Don't mind these basket ball fans rambling like stammerers. grin

Onazi wants to play the Okocha's postion and Oliseh's position simultaneously, hence the instability in that midfield.

The Super Eagles match against Congo is a huge evidence.
the guy feels he has no one competing for his place with him, I think Ogude or john ogu needs to be back in the team to give him some competition, people forgot that ogude was the one doing the dirty job for mikel to blossom in the confederations cup last year when onazi was injured. Guys like emenike, ambrose even omeruo and obaoboana needs players who will compete with them, I tell you they will all sit up, they are just too relaxed. This is not just a keshi's matter alone!Imagine emenike reporting late for camp haba we still get players nah!
Sports › Re: No Eagles Without Mikel — Keshi by Goke7: 12:16pm On Sep 12, 2014
iconize: All those screaming; Mikel should be dropped are basket ball fans.

A good football analyst would tell you; Onazi is our "weak link" in the mid field and how he
dis-stabilizes the mid field.

If Onazi can become the Onazi we knew during Afcon, then Mikel will shine again.
word!! I thought I was the only one noticing this all along, onazi especially after the injury at the world cup has no business with the eagles for now, he has been the major problem in the last two matches, throwing useless long balls forward!
Sports › Re: Your Opinion About The Super Eagle's Performance Against South Africa? by Goke7: 10:25am On Sep 11, 2014
Tesiday: Mikel should have been removed right from first half, he is the weak point of the team.
apart from mikel, the other players i mentioned earlier need to wake up too or replaced by fresh and more hungry players. If am keshi, I will consider some CHAN eagles [home based] that played earlier this year, especially for away games in sudan and congo, we need rugged and ruthless players for those games, the weather in sudan will not be favourable for the likes of mikel and other foreign based players
Sports › Re: Afcon 2015 Sudan Vs Nigeria Sat Oct 11 by Goke7: 9:51am On Sep 11, 2014
when we play in sudan, apart from playing against our opponents, we would also play against the hot weather and the altitude, hope we would not have ready made excuses then, I think keshi should start looking at some of those CHAN eagles again, we need rugged and ruthless players for away matches in sudan and congo, some of our ajebutter eagles may struggle again o

Sports › Re: Your Opinion About The Super Eagle's Performance Against South Africa? by Goke7: 9:38am On Sep 11, 2014
From what I can see, its like after winning the nations' cup, telling the players to do what they have done before, qualifying and winning defending the afcon again is becoming too monotonous for them, this is why we need fresh and younger legs to come in now, this is what cameroon is doing now and its working for them by winning their first two matches, imagine trouncing yaya toure and company 4-1.

It looks like players such as onazi, mikel, emenike, musa, ambrose needs competition from younger or other players to make them sit up, they are becoming too comfortable and relaxed. I think the nff should insist and if keshi is unwilling, impose and invite players that will compete for places with these players cos with the way we are going, we may not qualify, enough of sentiments.

santagelo25: Can God entrust you with the best? Then you will have to trust Him with every bit of your life in the time of trial. Zacharias and Elizabeth kept serving God even when they were having delay, they were not discouraged; they did not compromise and they did not allow the delay to distract them. "So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord." Luke 1:8,9. It is actually in serving God during the delay that God serves you with the best.
What is your delay? No job? No healing yet? No spouse? No child or what? As long you are a genuine child of God, God is reserving you for the best, get it clear. So, don’t be discouraged. Everything works together to good for them who love God. But you may think, “But is there any good that can come out of my worst situation? Things have gone beyond retrieve, I’m embarrassed and ashamed already, it is already sealed and no solution anymore, all I care for now is just to make heaven, after all”
Beloved, your thinking is humanly right, but bibically wrong. From the history of the world till the world will come to an end, there is no crime as worst, as evil and terrible as the killing of Jesus Christ, to kill the only sinless Man ever born and ever existed on earth; for creatures to use their created hands to slap their Creator and crucify Him on the cross in a painful death. Oh how terrible! But out of the worst historical event, God brought out the greatest historical blessing – salvation of humanity. So, if God could bring good thing out of the killing of Jesus, if God could make the greatest crime on earth to bring about the greatest blessing of justification, then the same God can work good thing out of your worst condition at the moment, if only you can trust Him and stay faithful to Him.
Romans 8:28, 31, 32, 35, 38, 39.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God’s delay is to determine if you deserve the best. So wait, and I say, wait on Him! Just wait and trust Him, and see the wonders of God in your life.
Stay blessed in Christ
Thanks for this wonderful piece! am so blessed

There is no need to continue to rack our brains over this issue, we are likely to be banned by both FIFA and CAF on monday sep 8 if the Giwa led nff do not vacate office and from the look of things the supposed nff chairman is not likely to go.

In summary, both Keshi and Uche won't have any national team to work for, so let's chill till monday to know how far!

Our football is almost dead, all the leagues are on hold and it is attitudes like this from players, coaches and administrators that has led us to where we are today, what a pity!
Politics › Re: Ibadan Isn't, Lagos Is The Largest City In Africa. by Goke7: 1:30pm On Aug 29, 2014
gbanikiti: You can't travel the whole ibadan in a day? Do you mean the whole villages in ibadan or the developed part of ibadan?

Even if you are travelling from Lagos to Maiduguri, it will take you 22hours by road, not even upto a day.
why don't you try it first, and then come back to tell us your experience, definitely you've not been to Ibadan before and if you do perhaps you went to U.I and thought that was all about the city. Am talking about moving round the entire city and not travelling from lagos to maiduguri where you don't have to enter into most of the cities along the way.

Ibadan for your information is highly developed as there is hardly anything you find in Lagos that you can't find in Ibadan apart from the beaches and water front. Many folks in Ibadan who get jobs in Lagos hardly relocate their families cos they can even give them better quality of life in Ibadan than Lagos. The population in Ibadan keeps rising of which would have been the opposite if the city was not developed so get your facts right.
Politics › Re: Ibadan Isn't, Lagos Is The Largest City In Africa. by Goke7: 12:29pm On Aug 29, 2014
Only those who haven't stayed in ibadan will argue. Ibadan is so large that you can't drive round Ibadan in a day, i tried it once and I got so exhausted and i was told that I haven't even gone anywhere, mhen that city is so large and is developing very fast, anyone who is talking about mud or brown roof houses haven't been to Ibadan in the last ten years.

On a day without traffic, its easy to drive round lagos, I once drove from TBS [on the Island] to Iyana Ipaja in 20mins on a saturday morning with no traffic which shows how small Lagos is, the trafffic in Lagos makes travel time very long which is deceptive in making people believe that Lagos is that big, with no traffic, you'll know how small Lagos is. In Ibadan, linking Iwo road alone is so long which shows how large the city is just ask people who travel to IIorin and other parts of south western Nigeria.

I've been to major cities or towns in Nigeria, none is as large as Ibadan, those asking for Ibadan state are not stupid, this is a city with 11 LGA which can be subdivided again into 22 or 30 LGA.
Sports › Re: Should Obafemi Martins Be Recalled To The National Team? by Goke7: 11:42am On Aug 29, 2014
Jarus: Yes, he did not score in that match but he was charging the defenders and actually outdid the striker he came in for.

More so one game is not enough to judge him.

For me, with Obafemi in a match, I have hope of anything happening.

I'm for Obafemi returning.
obafemi did not only have one chance under keshi, he also played in a friendly match against venezuela and he flopped, we Nigerians have started again, if he comes back and refused to score we will all blame keshi for inviting him.

I think its high time we stopped going back and forth on players selection, most Nigerians blamed keshi for dropping ideye from the world cup after condemning him [keshi] earlier for sticking to the player [Ideye]. we need to move on for our national team to progress, players like martins and even Ike Uche cannot be invited to come and sit on the bench for younger players [they can be a handful for the coaches] and I think presently what the eagles lack is an attacking midfielder who will create chances for the talented strikers we have presently, that was our biggest problem in brazil. The likes of Iheanacho looks promising here.
Sports › Re: Obafemi Martins dribble entire defense to score MLS goal of the year( Video) by Goke7: 8:50am On Aug 26, 2014
Jarus: If you watch football, you will know that Martins' goal, irrespective of where he played, are world class goals.

His goal vs Tottenham in EPL in his first season in England won goal of the week. It was described as one of the most powerful shots ever seen in the history of EPL.

His opening goal vs Aston Villa (I think) on the first day of 2007/2008 season was another stunning goal, a spectacular bicycle kick. He scored great goals in Italy, Germany, Russia and Spain too.

He scored 17 goals in his first season in England.

I don't believe the guy is spent. We need him for 2015 Nations cup. I believe was impatient with him the last time he invited him. Performance in a single match is not enough.
truth is if he's called up for the eagles and refuse to score in a match, everybody praising him here will start pulling him down, that's how we Nigerians behave, remember plastic fans?

Sports › Re: Keshi Quits On Nigeria As Contract Renewal Turns Sour by Goke7: 10:39am On Aug 22, 2014
mikeansy: Simple Question

Has Keshi earned the right to have his wages tripled?

No one is against pay rise but it needs to be proportional to results.

If we triple Keshi's pay after a poor World Cup showing where Keshi either condoned or encouraged his own players protesting about bonuses or to stay awake up until 2am sharing bonus money; what will happen if Nigeria actually got to Semi Finals?

France was a winable game!
He may not have earned his right to have his wages tripled but he has earned the right to have his wages reviewed upwards, you cannot renew a contract without increasing wages, its all about negotiations. we have to moved on and put the 2014 world cup behind us, this is the reason we have not been able to build on the success of the 90s.

My own question is do we want to go back to where keshi picked us from? agreed keshi must have erred [can't still believe he dropped igiebor from the world cup] but if a new coach comes in now especially if he's a Nigerian, he will be too much in a hurry to change things quickly by bringing back some players keshi left out to please Nigerians, this will bring a lot of pressure and the team will struggle, look here african teams are not that easy as we think anymore, and at this stage even me and you will not have any patience for a new coach who will not hit the ground running with good results. Let's retain keshi for now and use the afcon next year to judge him finally, the next world cup is still four years away, we can still bring in a quality and renowned coach after the afcon next year to plan for the world cup in 2018.
Sports › Re: Keshi Quits On Nigeria As Contract Renewal Turns Sour by Goke7: 9:35am On Aug 21, 2014
i just hope that with the nff building on fire, our national team will not also go on fire, we are treating this keshi's matter very lightly with all the silly comments of him not being tactical, i also hope we will not eat our words when the Eagles begin to struggle to qualify for afcon or fail woefully at next year afcon under a different set of coaches.

i will say this again, if you want to replace keshi, get a coach that has taken a team to the quarterfinal of a world cup before, anything short of this , we are going back to where keshi picked us from.

we have very short memories as Nigerians, keshi deserve a pay rise for his efforts so far, only myopic individuals will not agree, he's not as bad as we painting him to be, I have my reservations about keshi as well but I refuse to run down a coach because he did not select my preferred players.

SirShymex: Well, in as much as a lot Chelsea fans are plastic fans - some of us have been there from way back before the Abramovich era. Chelsea used to be London's blackest team at one point. I'd wager that a lot Arsenal fans are also plastic fans because most folks started supporting the team during the Kanu, Henry, Wiltord, and Dennis Bergkamp era.

Honestly, the only people I take seriously are Liverpool fans - those are loyal fans. Most of the rest are just bandwagoners. To know these folks, all you need ask them is about the club history and tradition- I bet most won't be able to say anything. tongue

Anyway, my Chelsea has always been one of the most entertaining teams in London - with the likes of Zola, Poyet, Wise, Babayaro, Dan Petrescu, Deschamps, Lebouf, Desailly, Tore Andre Flo, Chris Sutton et al - way before Abramovich. And that's my team for life! cool

Sports › Re: NFF Shops For Interim Coach by Goke7: 11:41am On Aug 18, 2014
Nff is walking on a tight rope, should Nigeria begin to struggle in the afcon qualifiers, they will have themselves to blame, the truth is these guys don't have future plans for our football, they never had plans for keshi beyond afcon 2013, they thought he will fail so they can bring their white witch doctor who will then abscond after the world cup which has been the usual practice as long as their kickbacks are guaranteed but alas they are getting more than what they bargained for.

keshi's success has been their major headache and I love what keshi is doing by putting them at a very tight corner, the big boss definitely has nothing to loose, whoever is going to be the caretaker coach has his hands full and may crumble under lots of pressure then the big boss will be back on his own terms of which even the nff chariman may have to fill form to see the coach of the National team.

Nff are the ones making keshi to feel like a mini god, they are just too childlish and very unprofessional
