Sports › Re: I Am Done With Ike Uche – Keshi Blasts by Goke7: 8:50am On Oct 09, 2014
artade:
IK Uche called Keshi first. A sign of a peacemaker. Good. He called Keshi 4 days after Keshi made the list. But during the call, Keshi didn't tell him "Boy, you're in the 25-man list o." Do you sense Keshi's pride here?

Keshi felt a long-standing misunderstanding with someone young enough to be his son should be resolved by having the team secretary call the player. And just hear the secretary... "Uche, do you have South Africa visa?" Uche: "No. Why are you asking?" Secretary: "Bring your international passport." Uche: "What do you need my international passport for?"

Keshi's pride is his greatest undoing. If Uche would take the initiative to call him first and Keshi would 'acknowledge' how good it is to hear his voice, why didn't he go ahead to inform Uche of his inclusion? Why did he have to use the team secretary, who foolishly adopted the wrong approach in asking for Uche's international passport? Keshi needs to grow up. Apparently, Uche is far more matured. If Keshi says he played for Nigeria for over 20 years, would he also claim that he wasn't a bossy player and a difficult one? Anyway, here are 2 key differences between Uche and Keshi:

1. Uche is far younger yet apparently more matured whereas Keshi is older but lacks maturity.

2. If Uche is anything close to being arrogant, Keshi is doubly arrogant. He was arrogant as a player and now as a coach. Keshi just had coaches who were tolerant, but Uche... He's cursed with a coach like Keshi.

Add to the list if you choose... Someday, the Super Eagles would have a coach... For now what we have in Keshi is sh*t...
@the bolded, you must be joking, No arrogant player can play for his country for over twenty years cos he cannot always be in the starting eleven, if uche is that matured, he will in camp now preparing for the match against sudan, you guys should stop condoning indiscipline

you are not making sense at all, what explanation does uche need, was that the first time he will be asked for his international passport? has he not been playing for Nigeria before, the coach spoke with him earlier and later someone asked for his passport and the silly guy asked what for? was he not aware that people have been clamouring for his return to the eagles.

I think the uche is satisfied with his nations cup medal, osaze being excluded from the nations cup last year made him humble himself and got recalled to the team. All the players who had issues with keshi before the world cup like yobo called keshi and made up while uche has fooling himself ever since.

Something is wrong with us Nigerians; we just hate progress. Way back we complained about indiscipline in the eagles camp and the influence players have on the national team coaches.
The team admin callled all the players to inquire about their passport status..... Not uche alone. Others responded positively while the arrogant uche did not. If Mikel, emenike, onazi etc would respond adequately, what the heck is wrong with Ike Uche.

He was quick to rush to media to deny the request to beg him, but I ask..... How often does he go to the media against his club coach or he wants to make us believe its been smooth sail in his club.

Uche is neither messi nor ronaldo. His last outing for the national team was extremely poor.. So what is the fuss about?
best comment I've read so far, many Nigerians are not thinking at all but only sentimental

I watched that programme. He also said that NFF will set up a Technical committee that will compile and grade all our foreign players into Grade A, B and C based on the league they are playing and how regular they play in their club. He said there will be no way of inviting someone in playing in China when there is someone playing regularly in a top league.
we keep deceiving ourselves and how many of our players will make Grade A or even B, there is a dearth of quality of players in this present generation of Nigerian players, are u sure an obafemi martins in mls will make Grade B, is martins a world class player? if uche is that good, he should scoring more than 20goals in la liga or is he a diego costa? until we start seeing quality players again like Yekini, finidi goerge and kanus of this world, then we can begin to brag but for now we have bunch of average players who are swollen headed.

He is totally wrong. Following his idea, Omeruo, Oboabona and Mba would never have been given a chance to play at the last AFCON.

If a Coach sees a player on the bench in Division Three Pakistan League and the Coach believes he can turn him into a star, the coach should be given a chance.

Coach Arsene Wenger signed Kolo Toure from Cote D'Ivoire. He turned out a star defender in the Arsenal squad.

The NFF should stop interfering in the Coaches job.
The new nff president is just being misled by some so called football analysts comprising of some ignorant sports journalists and envious ex footballers who can never achieve what keshi has done in their life time, its a pity we like going backwards in Nigeria.

My question is what are really the sins of keshi? in the entire history of Nigerian football, no coach be it foreign or local has never got his selection of players in tandem with the general public opinion, if anyone doubts me, he or she should tell me that coach whose total selection of players went down well with everybody's opinion.

The way amaju pinic or 'panic' is going, is there any need for a coach? since the nff already knows all nigerian players, they can be inviting them as well for matches, that will save a lot of money from salaries of coaches.

There was a guy better than Kelechi iheanancho called bernard bulbwa.. He was putting him to the bench.. But he failed the MRI scan... Manu Garba is not a kind of coach to toy with.. No player in his squad is indispensable.. Taiyo awoniyi fit into Isaac success shoe when he was injured netting 4 goals in the tournament.. He is not Keshi that can't do without mike.. He looks at current form not club side. Iheanancho knows that pretty well and he keeps telling the media about it...
Manu Garba can do that easily with players who have not achieved anything in their life but not with the over bloated egos of super eagles players, that is why its difficult for any coach be it foreign or local to manage super eagles
Sports › Re: Comments By The New NFF President On Stephen Keshi by Goke7:

Your post is full of EMOTIONS but lacks substance!
First, highlight one single line where you saw the name of Siasia, in my post which you quoted! yes, go ahead and do so or STFU!
You come across as one of those people who cant set standards for themselves, talk less of doing so for others, you know the typical Nigerian that rationalise failure by saying because APC is a Thief, therefore it is acceptable that PDP too should loot or because Tinubu is a thief therefore there is nothing wrong if Jonathan loots us dry, afterall, he is not the first person to loot! shocked shocked

That is the kind of mentality that got us where we are today and that my friend, does not cut it with me.
if you take your time to "reason" on my post, you would deduce the following.

1.) keshi has tried and has been successful in the past
2.) Keshi's recent performance, since the completion of the Confederations Cup, has been going downwards.
3.) That second reason shows that he needs a refresher course, just like most big time coaches do refresher course (Jose Maurinho and Arsene Wenger was in one, a few weeks ago. if l can get the link, l will post it here). Keshi does not know it all and so has to keep abreast with current trends in coaching ..... l even suggested it should be done with FULL PAY to him.
4.) Any seasoned coach would tell you that at the level of the National team, you are not teaching players how to trap the ball or how to dribble or make a clean throw-in. They already know all these, that is why they are National team players!

What National Coach does is BLEND AND MANAGE FOOTBALLERS under his watch.
Once you as a coach can manage your players such that they understand themselves, become telepathic during play, understand and follow your tactics, then you are home and dry.

Keshi will benefit himself, if he learns how to manage players. Remember that these footballers are not your usual "well rounded/morally upright teenagers" (except for the likes of Odegbami, Adeolu Adekola, e.t.c who are University graduate Engineers). Most of them are very rude, egoistic and selfish. It is he job of the coach to know hoe to manage them (Man-Management) so that he can get the best put of them ...... Instead of taking to Tweeter to denounce your own player or banning your best "Striker option" because of some squabbles that can be avoided. Players will always be players;
Look at how current Liverpool Coach is trying to "manage" Baloteli (The same Player that was almost punching that Italian, former Man City Coach!) .. and we can see the difference already showing in Balotelli as he now marks and works for the team while maintaining a "level head", even in the face of provocation on the field. THAT IS "MAN-MANAGEMENT!

Tactically, no Coach is perfect but some are better than others. Keshi is still a long way off in terms of reading a Match!
Its not just by shouting at the side-line or chewing Gum endlessly that would give you the tactics of somebody like Sir Alex Ferguson! grin grin
The best way to learn "tactics" is to understudy those that know and practice it.

That is what my post is all about. I dont get involved in all those childish gang-ups against a coach or try to run-down keshi, just to promote Siasia. Both have the strengths and Weaknesses but anyone of them that wants to go far, will embrace Knowledge.

My take.

It is your post that is full of emotions and lacking substance, it also shows how bad you felt with some truth I revealed, you thought I will clap for your post like most people do here on this forum and did I also mention APC in my post that you quoted? and as for your man management course it is your nff that needs it badly so they know how to deal professionaly with national team coaches and pay them their salary when due and why are u trying so hard to defend yourself that you are not running down kesh,i I have seen your various posts on this forum running down keshi. How good are our players in the first place? do we have any player that scores more than 20goals per season? They play crap for us and if the coach complains, we say he lacks man management and how many goals have your balotelli score for liverpool this season? you are not making sense at all man and if you feel you can read a match better than keshi, why don't you apply for the job and let's see what you've got.

dabossman: And Ikpeba calls himself an ex-footballer? He should be ashamed of himself. Do you ever stop building a football team? Should Keshi just stick to the team that won Afcon in 2013 even if some players loose form or are no longer at their best? Has Barcelona or Bayern Munich stopped building their team simply because they've won their leagues and the Champions League? Why do they bring in new players every season?

How many years did it take Joachim Low to build the German team that won the World Cup? There were at least 10 new players in that squad from the one that played at South Africa 2010.

Ikpeba, are you sure you're qualified to analyses football with this kind of reasoning. A football team is always going through building. It never ends.
are u still listening to ikpeba? I stopped listening to football coaches in dstv studios long time ago. I almost passed out the day people started saying that oliseh should coach eagles because of his tv analysis.

E... they play an all attacking football with flair like the catalonia.. They attack like a swarm of bees.. He is a coach that select players based on present form not on sentiment.. He is still building his team everyday.. I forsee him winning the coveted under 20 world cup that has eluded us for a pretty long time... He will lead the super eagles to Russia 2018 and do better than Keshi and Westerhoof... My two coins though...
This is what we all said of siasia then with the u-20 and u-23 then, the senior national team is a different ball game, Iheanacho palyed for an academy as an u-17 player but in the super eagles shirt he is a man city player manu garba cannot handle him now with way he handled him back in u-17, that is why in most countries coaches of the underage teams are left alone to continue to build new talents, most failed when they get promoted to the senior sides

My own suggestion is that he (Keshi) needs to calm down and stop acting like without him we cannot win any competition; otherwise let him try his luck elsewhere.

But personally, l will prefer that NFF send him on to a sort of "Apprenticeship" under seasoned coaches like Maurinho, Acellotti, Van Gaal, (I would have mentioned the coach of my darling Arsenal but that "Arze Whinger" would only make him worse! grin grin

Let him spend Two years understudying them on "tactics and man-management" (especially man-management, which 90% what a National Coach does anyway).
During that time, his salary should be paid in full (with a proviso that he cant work for another country/club within 5years of being trained, else he must refund the country a certain amount equivalent to our loss or his gain, in training him)

He is definitely getting very short on ideas and is taking it out on his players.

all this talk about man management is crap, siasia had problems with same players keshi had problems too, Eguavoen had issues with Yakubu, Amodu and chukwu all had problems controlling some big players in their time even the foreign coaches were not left out lagerback had problems with osaze just like keshi and siasia, westerhof benched and dropped some very good players we had then and so on and so forth.

Are you saying that all the coaches who has coached the eagles all lack man management skills, common man remember the social media is more in use today than before and its so easy for all what goes on in eagles camp to get to the media easily, I think we are just getting too bias as regards to keshi and posterity will judge us all. siasia who failed as eagles coach did not get all this bashing for christ sake, some of us are even clamouring for his return. Am not saying Siasia must be brought back, but when u check the no of matches eagles played and won under Siasia and compare it with the record Keshi has so far paraded u will know am not far from the truth. Untill the present coach of Chelsea wins a champions league trophy with Chelsea, he is still miles away from the coach that won them the champions league. The credit unit of winning a champion league is like that of wining an epl 10 times or more. Silver and gold are not in the same class
a coach is measured by his results, play all the expansive football in this world without results, all na wash. we are all complaining about keshi today because of his last two results, saying siasia is better is hypocritical cos siasia never gave us the result we wanted then, just like siasia if keshi fails to qualify for afcon he will be sacked. Dimatteo was sacked for poor results by chelsea then even after winning the champ league. mourinho left real madrid when he failed to get desired results but if you go to the same real madrid and say pellegrini is better than mourinho, you will be stoned. Coaches are graded by the results they produce, that's all.

kaorama: Keshi's time in super eagle is up. That he won nations cup does not make him a good coach. Chelsea fc won champions league with a coach who has since then disappeared from the radar of the round leather game. I still believe Siasia is a better coach than Keshi, irrespective of the fact that Siasia could not qualify us for nations cup during his spell with the eagles. Keshi is preoccupied with doing business with the players than getting the best legs. How can Keshi say Kelechi is too young to play for super eagles? At what age did Messi start playing for his national team. Keshi took the world best U17 goal keeper, Alampasus to South Africa and never used him. He clung to the goalkeeper that was obviously deficient and caused us a lot of headache in the tournament. What kind of sentimental treatment is that? He should go, please.
@the bolded, FIFA can ban us for that statement of yours, doesn't make sense at all. siasia was sacked for keshi so how is siasia better than keshi, I repeat sarcastically we can be banned by FIFA for this. Chelsea has gotten a coach better than Di matteo, the present coach has won two champ league, now if you are sacking keshi, get a coach who has surpassed his achievements, that should be the standard unless we are mediocres

mpowa: E,enike refused to raise is game when he doesn't have supplies like before again? throughout the world cup, Emenike played from the wing, and he's supposed to be our top striker. Has and ordinary football fan i noticed this and hoped Keshi would fix it after the world cup, but alas! a coach who gets 5m per month couldn't spot that, he keeps blaming his players.

Enyeama had been saving his as*ses if he make a mistake at anytime, he shouldn't be made to carry the responsibility for the failure of the whole team, when we actually have someone in the middle causing the whole problem for him in the 1st place. if he'll blame Enyeama, he should've blamed the whole squad first before getting to him. When a keeper keeps getting pressurized continuously, he'll definitely make mistakes eventually, but good coaches knows to well to cover there players, if Keshi was Van gaal, i wonder what he'd have said about Rooney's red card.
its so funny how you are defending silly mistakes by players, what do you mean that keshi should blame the whole squad first? will you not criticized him for that too? Look here players should be ready to own up when they make mistakes that cost the whole team. For Emenike to take good set pieces, does it need supplies for that too? common man, so keshi should enter the field to cover up for enyeama and other players I de laugh o. Vangaal was unhappy about rooney's red card and criticised Rooney for it in the media so what are u saying here.

We should start demanding 100% performance from our players and stop bypassing them with their mistakes to blame it on the coach, remember its not only the coach that get paid, the players are also being paid too by tax payers money.

mpowa: Ok so he removed Ideye and replaced him with who? there are some players people where actually clamoring to leave the squad, but they hoped they'll be replaced with better players that we obviously have, but alas we get more inferior players.

Talking about managing big players, the Nigerian squad doesn't really have such big players that good coach can't manage, Drogba is no more playing full game for ivory coast and there's no problem, you can't shy away from your best legs because you're afraid of managing them.
Am really enjoying your argument, truth is we don't really have depth in the quality of players in this present generation of eagles, that's why keshi keeps sticking with some particular players but we fans did not understand and started complaining, keshi tried to satisfied us by removing ideye, invited osaze and yobo back into the team, this backfired and we started blaming him again for dropping ideye, mba [who lost form after afcon with all his club palaver] we also rain abuses on keshi for inviting yobo despite the all the clamour for yobo's experience.

Now according your own words, we replaced with inferior players [very funny] martins [best leg in quote]had his chance against kenya in a world cup qualifier, we blamed keshi then for inviting a player who did not play afcon to gel with others, now we are clamouring for the return of martins. I don tire o!

Truly we don't have big players like drogba but we have swollen headed players who are too difficult to manage by any coach, have u forgotten that enyeama and osaze had problems with siasia or is siasia that bad too? osaze also had issues with lagerback a foreign coach.
Sports › Re: Comments By The New NFF President On Stephen Keshi by Goke7: 10:38am On Oct 03, 2014
mpowa: Nigerians did not call for the removal of Ideye, the issue most people have with Ideye is the final ball, putting the ball in the net, he's not a great finisher, but he's very good supporting striker, so people criticized when Keshi went to the confederation cup and our top striker was Ideye. Agreed Eminike was injured but we have other proven strikers, he ought to swallow his pride and call them - Uche, Martins, Obasi, Osaze etc. but none could be called because of one reason or the other.
Let's not be double mouthed, we all said Ideye was not fit for our national team and keshi listened to us, what do you mean that he's a good supporting striker, is it because emenike is no longer scoring goals? obasi is injury prone, no good coach will risk him and for the likes of martins and uche to be in the team, emenike, musa and others may have to be benched or uche and martins may have to sit on the bench for emenike, martins and uche are very senior players for Nigeria, they will never be comfortable sitting on the bench even if they are not scoring goals and you think its easy to handle such players? my brother its not easy coaching Nigeria with the kind of players we have even taiye taiwo who is almost finished said he can't sit on the bench for keshi's boys.

There are lot of intricacies surrounding our national team and even if we sack keshi now, it doesn't solve anything.
Sports › Re: Comments By The New NFF President On Stephen Keshi by Goke7: 10:27am On Oct 03, 2014
mpowa: We have good enough players to prosecute African matches and even win the nations cup again, if Keshi has not been picking issues with all of them, if our best player had been playing, we would have picked at least 4 pts of the last two games, for Africa, our players are not too bad, but the team keep getting more inferior by the day. The next on the line is Eminike, he's already having issues with him too, he's even quarrelling with Enyeama, he's just patching it. we are not playing Brazil nor Germany, we're playing African sides and we're better than most of them especially the group we found ourselves.

You talk about players running to the media, what does Keshi run to when he wants to criticize his players or Nff, how does he announces his resignations?

Some players will definitely give the coach problems, but in the case where you're having issues with most of the players, especially those who'll make your job easier, then it's not the players but yourself, if we're playing with our best legs we won't be discussing qualifying by now.
so how do you handle players who are under-performing and refuse to raise their game, mark my words I mean 'refuse to raise their game, is it by patting them on the back? Emenike has refused to raise his game and you are still blaming the coach, Enyeama despite how good he was cost us two conceded crucial goals at the world cup. No coach will be happy with mistakes by players who in turn affect the whole team and the coach himself, blaming keshi all the time when players are making silly mistakes is not fair.

Can you tell me why Emenike has not become a deadly in free kicks today after the wonderful one he scored against Ivory coast at the last afcon? Our players loosing form and inconsistent and we are still blaming keshi who has paid his dues as an ex-player

thegoodjoehunt3: It is funny how easy it is for people to criticise Coach Keshi and put the blame on Mikel.

Let me start with Mikel, he was clearly Nigeria's best player on the pitch against South Africa. Explain to me why Coach Keshi should criticise him to make Mikel haters happy?

As for Emenike, he was terrible. As for me, he was our worst player on the field.

If Coach Keshi complained about Emenike's performance, Emenike should hit the training field and improve his game.

Coach Keshi criticised Moses for losing form. Moses hit the training pitch and today, he is one of the best wingers in the English Premier League. He has been recalled by Coach Keshi.

Going to the media and complaining and threatening quitting is not the solution. Emenike should train, improve his game and team work play and the Coach will sing praises of his improved performances.

#TeamNacho.
emenike, onazi, omeruo, oboabona, ejide were all woeful especially against congo but because these players are Nigerian fans favourites, keshi was blamed instead, apart from ejide these are all our so called regulars that if they were dropped keshi will be beheaded, still most nigerians including so called big sports journalists ignored their performances and blamed the coach.

Enyeama was our best player at the world cup no doubt but the crucial goals we conceded against france and argentina were caused by him, keshi was objective enough to admit enyeama's mistakes but Nigerians will have none of that and heap insults on keshi.

Posterity will judge all of us soon!

abatically: I couldn't have said it better. Nigerians see emenike as a 'God' and that he is indispensable. So they always blame the coach when the team is not performing. He ad a good afcon but since then he has really dropped form and his ego on the pitch cannot be over emphasized. He sees himself as an automatic selection and that is affecting him. Its time he gets the stick so he can sit up and play at the level we all want. We can't keep defending underperforming players. Mikel has been made a scapegoat, but Mikel is not the only underperforming player in the super eagles.

No manager, I repeat.. No coach will do wonders with this set of players. Ever since the class of 1994, we haven't had a solid team. It has been from one manager to another , always blaming the coaches and we haven't kept a coach for 3 years. Tell me how can we build a team? The likes of lagerback, bora milutinovic, siasia, onigbinde, etc were all fired. It is time we give coaches a chance and accept we do not have the right players to make us play the way we want. For 20 years now we have put the blame on coaches, how about we accept the players are the one underperforming. Sack keshi today and we are back to square one because the next coach will be sacked after the nations cup and the cycle continues.

No player is indispensable. Redondo was dropped from the 1998 world cup squad for Argentina. I can remember Ferguson dropping Rooney to favor welbeck in champions league. Even Joe Hart was dropped by by pellegrini and it made him sit up and come back stronger.
Thank you very much Sir, our players are just average, when they score one goal, they give themselves ballon dor and they begin to drop form and when the coach rebuke them they run to the media to cry, this must stop.

One will expect that after emenike scored a set piece against ivory coast at the last afcon, by now every defence in the world should be wary if emenike is about to take a set piece, but what do we have now, 'mediocrity extravaganza', he's no longer seen as a terror to african sides. In the hey days of okocha and Yekini we all look forward whenever they are about to take set pieces. Our current players are fumbling and they can't keep blaming a coach who has paid his dues as an ex player for their failures, thats too childlish!

Only an unreasonable nff will sack keshi now and if they do, keshi has nothing to loose, the nff will be the big looser, I think we all should thread carefully if not keshi can deliberately take the eagles back to where he picked them from by not qualifying for the nations cup and I tell you that time the pit will be so deep that no other coach may not be able to bring the eagles out.

The problem is we don't have enough quality players right now, its not a really a coaching problem. Van gaal is still finding it difficult at man u despite hie heroics at the world cup. The reason is the quality of players at his disposal, our eyes are now clear that moyes was not really the problem at man u.

Our players are not up to scratch and when the coach demands more from them, they run to the media like cry babies blaming the coach, that's why it looks as if keshi is quarreling with all the players.

naijanoni: Just stating d fact.
You were like he is also experiencing a drought at fenerbahce.
And i replied that 1 goal in only 3 starts this season isnt a drought.
He scored about 15goals in total last season.
I strongly criticized keshi for not inviting abiola dauda who is our most in-form striker in europe or uche/martins.
But i tell u put any of these strikers in our current team without creativity, they won't score too.
If emenike has been getting chances in matches and fluffing them or missing 1-on-1s/open net like ideye, that would be another thing.
But i cant remember when last emenike was provided a clear-cut chance at goal in the national team.
do you know that emenike was booed in his last match for fernabache when he was replaced? truth be told emenike is loosing form, the guys at fernabache can't be wrong and for me i only reckon with strikers who can score more than 20 goals per season, presently i don't think we have such talented strikers in the present class of super eagles be it uche, martins or whoever, we have just been managing what we have for some years now and that's why the present eagles can hardly score more than 2 goals in matches, when congo scored their third goal, i knew we were in soup already, this is not a coaching problem, we lack game changers in the present generation of eagles and until we get those game changers, no coach i repeat no coach be it foreign or local will have it easy coaching the eagles. Victor moses looks like a game changer but he is not consistent, he looses form too often.

naijanoni: The turkish league season is only a month old.
Emenike has started 3 matches this season and has scored 1 goal. And thats Not bad.
No fenerbahce player has scored more than 1 goal this season, including his strike patner Moussa sow.
stop defending emenike please how long are we going to keep accepting mediocre performances from our players and turn around to blame the coach or their mates in the team? is that the reason emenike showed up late to the camp for match against congo thinking it will be a stroll in park?

Please let's accept the fact that some of our players are loosing form and need to wake up or sit on the bench for others, crying all the time to the media does not solve any problem here

naijanoni: The op didnt post the complete story. Here's d pther part:-

I agree with emenike on this.He aint no magician.when theres no creativity in the team,it would be hard for him to score.though he didnt score at d world cup,he was one of our most important players.Who created d goals we scored at d world cup ?.We scored 3 goals, emenike created 2 out of the 3.
Due to lack of supplies and creativity from d midfielders, emenike who is supposed to be d finisher, takes up d creative responsibilities.
also its wrong to say emenike didn't perform after afcon.Emenike almost single-handedly qualified us for d world cup.Forgotten d brace against ethiopia and goals against malawi ?.
In all i think if we sort our creative problems, emenike would start scoring again.
its not as if he's had clear-cut chances and he fluffed them.Right from last yr to now, emenike hardly gets a single clear-cut chance at goal in all the matches we've played
oga is there lack of creativity in fernabache too, emenike has not been scoring for his club of late o!
