A Life Of Power By The Spirit · Tuesday, September 24th · Pastor Anita But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8 ). As Christians, we’re not ordinary people; we have a supernatural life of power. You received this extraordinary power when the Holy Spirit came into your life. The Lord Jesus said in our opening verse, "…ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you…." What kind of power was He talking about, and what can we do with it? The word "power" in this verse is translated from "dunamis" (Greek), and it means dynamic power or ability to cause or effect a change. It refers to miracleworking ability; the ability to make supernatural things happen; power and ability that’re beyond yourself! It refers to what we call a "doing-power," or "workingpower"; it’s sometimes translated, "might." It also means the power of excellence; the extraordinary ability to be efficient and effective in all that you do. This is the life we have in Christ—a life of superproductivity and ever-increasing glory! We’re never to be victims in life. If you’ve found yourself in a predicament, a precarious or desperate situation, don’t cower; don’t give up! There’s something in you: the life and power of the Spirit to effect changes. You can change any unfavourable situation with this power in you. This is Christianity; it’s a life of dominion. You don’t need to go from place to place looking for help and seeking power, because the power to effect the changes you desire, lies within you. Prayer Precious Holy Spirit, I appreciate you, and acknowledge your awesome power, presence and grace in my life! I’m confident of a greater tomorrow, and a day-to-day life of ever-increasing glory because you’re the one taking me by the hand, and leading me to fulfil God’s perfect will for me. Thank you for perfecting all that concerns me, in Jesus’ Name. italo: God holds us to our thoughts. Yes or no. ![]() Ok you win...Nobody said your tots are not important while you pray..don't knw whr you got that from. What we saying is you shd not pray with your tots..your words are important |
italo: FALLACY ALERT!!!I knew you wud bring dat up ![]() Open a thread and invite me in...let's not derail this one You are delving into d concept of sin and why Jesus said that, to whom and how it affects us after his resurrection. Note, I'm not saying Jesus was wrong o or d line has been abolished. But let's stick to the topic Your words are important while you pray...simple |
italo: How do you listen to God when you are talking? How did Jesus listen to God while he was talking? Remember he was in d garden praying, John was listening and the bible recorded that an angel came down and strengthened him....while he was still talking in prayer..John saw it, definitely Jesus must have heard/felt something, NO? I cancelled d rest because its not sensible. If I tell my spouse I'd give her N50,000 if Chelsea beats Madrid, if chelsea beats madrid, I'm bounded to give her d money by just words...she can get very angry and so on. But if I tot abt it in my heart, she doesn't have a claim, does she? Why do gamblers fight after a bet especially if the looser refused to pay up? Its simply because the other guy held him buy his words! Can you hold someone by his tots? Same thing with God, He holds you by your words whether they be good or evil words, not thought. I told you meditation in the Bible is mutter under your breath...its a quieter form of speaking, a little louder than a whisper. It is not some form of inner thoughts |
italo: Unfortunately, there are people among us who think that God who created the mind, heart, mouth & ear will not hear you until you speak your thoughts.God needs your words...the words you speak are a witness for/against you for all eternity, whether they be good or evil. Your thoughts however are not, they only are when translated into action, whether the tots are good or evil. Haven't you heard that "you can't stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from making a nest"? Jesus said by your word (not thoughts) you shall be condemned, and by your words (not thoughts) you shall be justified. He said you shall give account of every idle words (not thoughts) you SAY (not think). With the mouth (not mind) confession is made unto salvation. Y do you think God, Jesus, Paul were always critical about our words? Why do you sing aloud? Why do your worship with songs aloud to your hearing? Why not go to church and do silent praise since God knows your tots and heart?? Why then is prayer diff? I haf a busy day abeg...if you like you cn pray in your dreams since God knows your dream, wot ever rows your boat, do it. Bye mates! |
ijeoma100: What are you waiting for? Godot?I see you can't answer the question...when Jesus wanted to raise Lazarus, why didn't he "think that God who created the mind, heart, mouth & ear will hear him not until he speak his thoughts."? (Funny assertion). Why didn't he do 'silent prayer"...why ? |
Pray how ever you like sir...if you noticed, you'd see that I said praying in your mind is OK...just its prone to distractions. I now said praying out enough TO YOUR HEARING, your focus is on the spoken words to God...when you pray in your mind you focus is on what? You agree with me that when you have a focus, you have less chances of distraction (not that they won't come o)...no? |
ijeoma100: Prayer is communication with God. You don't have to speak - God knows our innermost thoughts. Can you explain these for me? How did you think John recorded Jesus' prayer in John 17, if "God knows his innermost thoughts" ? Don't you think he was loud enough for John to hear and record it? Or as you said was he trying to "convince his fellow men that he is righteous."? How did luke record that Paul and Silas prayed and sang while they were in Jail?...if it wasn't loud enough for someone outside the jail to hear? Wot of Hannah's prayer? Samson's? David's etc I am waiting o |
italo: @ Gombs,With closed eyes (infact even with open eyes) and intent to pray..when uv said "I want to speak to God"...when you know you have an appointment with God, you can't be distracted, not that it won't come, you will just refuse to yield. But in your mind, you cn strt sleeping or start thinking of that movie or that poorly sewn clothes you are to wear for that wedding etc. You see that this is diff frm speaking out, where all your attention is on your words spoken...etc. Note meditation in d bible is not daydreaming or quiet inner thoughts. 1Peter 4v7 NLT 7 The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. |
tedimola: That's 4 now bro!!!! So, savor it while it lasts!!!Oh! I will ![]() BTW I smell jealousy ![]() |
Sirniyeh: keep shut. Prove your assertion. Define prayer. Stop postulating erroneous theory that you can not prove. How did you think John recorded Jesus' prayer in John 17, if he were 'meditating'(by your assertion n definition of meditation)? Don't you think he was loud enough for John to hear and record it? How did luke record that Paul and Silas prayed and sang while they were in Jail?...if it wasn't loud enough for someone outside the jail to hear? Wot of Hannah's prayer? Samson's? David's etc Meditation is from the greek word 'hagah' in the Bible And it means mutter under your breath. Such meditation is not mere quietness or daydreaming, but is thoughtfulness with a purpose--to SPEAK to urself "all that is written therein."-the bible Opening mouth to pray is an illusion? ![]() Pls explain d above! @Op, praying in your mind is ok, but you tend to get distracted by your inner thoughts, when you are in your closet or gathering of brethren, pls do pray out to your hearing. |
It's 7days to Oct 1 #Glooory |
...If only a large part of the world knew this...imagine how precarious they'd be not only on what and how they hear but also on what and how the speak! |

Atonement By His Blood · Monday, September 23rd · Pastor Chris Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat (Genesis 9:3-4). God made it clear in the verses above that blood is the life of the flesh. He reiterated this when He gave the children of Israel the Law, but this time, He related it with the subject of atonement. Leviticus 17:11 says, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul." Atonement means appeasement, propitiation, satisfaction of the claims of justice, or compensation for wrongdoing. He gave them blood as the atonement for their souls whenever they did wrong. This was God’s divine order; His divine principle and law. That’s why He instructed them not to eat the blood of animals, which they killed. This truth also holds in the New Testament; Hebrews 9:22 says, "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." Sin can’t be wiped away without the shedding of blood; it’s a spiritual law. The Old Testament folks and their priesthood used the blood of animals for the atonement of their souls, but that wasn’t good enough. Man is a spirit and an eternal being, but animals weren’t made to live eternally. Therefore, the blood of animals wasn’t enough to atone for man’s sins. Only the Lamb of God—Jesus Christ—could redeem the world through His precious blood. Jesus came as the High Priest of the New Testament and obtained eternal redemption: deliverance from sin, evil, and from all things that were inconsistent with God’s dream for us, by His death on the cross (Hebrews 9: 11–12). We, however, became new creations in Him, not on the Cross, but at His resurrection. By His blood, He purchased us, and made it possible for those who would believe in Him to receive eternal life. His blood was enough; His blood did it all. Glory to God! Prayer Dear heavenly Father, I thank you because my sins have been totally blotted out by the blood of Jesus. Therefore, I can boldly affirm that the power of sin over my life is completely destroyed; thus, I’m free to live joyfully in righteousness, giving glory unto you, in Jesus’ Name. ^^ Sir...lemme just point out some thing...the Blood of Christ was exclusively for remission of sin ONLY, it doesn't have power for spiritual war or protection or whatever...Michael overcame by the authority of Jesus not his blood. That's also why "cover us with the blood of Jesus" prayer is wrong (not scriptural) If you wanna debate it, open a thread and invite me. |

The Power Of Words · Sunday, September 22nd · Pastor Chris Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth (Proverbs 6:2). Positive change is something we all want, should have, and continually crave; change from glory to glory. In your job, business, finances, family, etc., you should always desire unending progress, because the "path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18). Change, whether positive or negative, results from the words you pay attention to, and the thoughts they stir up in your heart. The Lord Jesus always taught His disciples to hear and think right. In Mark 4:24, He said, "...Take heed what ye hear…." Then in Luke 8:18, He said, "Take heed therefore how ye hear…." How you hear is as important as what you hear, because how you hear often determines your response and attitude, as well as ability to appropriate the power of the words that come to you. Words make or mar. Our lives are influenced by words; the atmosphere in your home depends on the words that are spoken in it. Your relationships are built on words. Our lives are so dependent on words that, not only do they affect our attitudes, they also affect our health and living conditions. Whether or not you’re living in faith or in fear is a function of what you hear, for faith comes by hearing (God’s Word: positive information); while fears comes through negative information. Many today have become faint-hearted from listening to media reports on the dwindling state of the world’s economy. However, there’s one who never changes, and that’s the Almighty God; His Word is the same—yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24:35). He’s given us His Word as the veritable agent to change and transform us from glory to glory: "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18). Confession I declare that there’s prosperity, progress, joy and increase in my life and in that of my loved ones. Through the power and influence of God’s Word in my life, victory, promotion, and success are my hallmarks, in the Name of Jesus! Amen. f u r t h e r s t u d y: Mark 11:23; Matthew 12:37 Daily Scripture Reading 1 Year Reading Plan : Galatians 6:1-18, Amos 1-4 2 Year Reading Plan : Luke 24:13-27, 2 Samuel 17-18 |

Growing Your Measure Of Faith… · Saturday, September 21st · Pastor Chris For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). God has given to each one of us—everyone who believes in Jesus—the measure of faith. That’s significant because each of us was given the same definite measure of faith when we received the message of salvation to be born again. However, one thing God expects of you is to grow your faith. Faith is the principle of the Christian walk (2 Corinthians 5:7). The Bible clearly emphasizes that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrew 11:6). God, through His Word, has clearly revealed to us how to grow strong and effectual faith. First, you have to stay continually in the Word; the Word stirs faith in your spirit: "...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Romans 10:17). Secondly, your faith can also be built as you consistently attend Church services and fellowship with other believers. Hebrews 10:25 charges us not to forsake "...the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." In Church, you’re taught the Word, and you also enjoy the rich fellowship of the Spirit in a way that energizes your faith. Thirdly, cultivate a rich fellowship with the Holy Spirit in prayer, by speaking in other tongues frequently: "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost" (Jude 1:20). Prayer conditions your spirit rightly to receive from God. When your spirit is so conditioned, it becomes easy for the Word to get in and produce results. Finally, get rich Christian materials and study them for yourself (2 Timothy 2:15); be a student of the Word. Don’t just be "a hearer," but "a doer of the Word"; you build prevailing faith by consistently meditating on, and putting the Word to work in your life. Prayer Dear Father, I thank you for your Word that inspires faith in me. Every challenging situation is an opportunity for me to put my faith to work, and have the vital experience of my victorious life in Christ. I declare that today, my faith is strengthened; and I’m growing in grace and in the knowledge of the Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. f u r t h e r s t u d y: 2 Timothy 2:15; Act 20:32; 2 Corinthians 5:7 Daily Scripture Reading 1 Year Reading Plan : Galatians 5:16-26, Jonah 1-4 2 Year Reading Plan : Luke 24:1-12, 2 Samuel 15-16 |
