Christianity EtcRe: Does The New Testament Completely Rule Out The Significance Of The Old Testament by Goshen360(m): 10:36am On Apr 15, 2013
I THINK I should use this good thread to clear up some MISCONCEPTIONS AND MISUNDERSTANDINGS about what I had been saying or teaching about the OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT INSTEAD OF STARTING A NEW THREAD because some people read me these days but don't understand me and accuse falsely. I will find good time to write intensively but very busy these days.
Christianity EtcRe: My Brother Goshen, Please Explain Your Stand On Fornication Here by Goshen360(m): 3:26am On Apr 15, 2013
I will address this issue of old and new testament. There's lots of people on this forum that when they listen/read what I teach, many do not understand but go about making statement such as 'should we tear the old testament out then'? I have taught this old and new testament thing many times here but whatever people wanna say, they will keep saying.

I teach from the old; Jesus, the church/end time and the holy spirit are all in the old. The gospel was hidden in the old but revealed in the new, all of these I have said in the past teachings. People just wanna say what they wanna say. I said, I AM NOT A MAN OF THE LAW OF MOSES, SIMPLE! I will address this issue when I have time again.

Thank you!

mumumugu: But you can call them DADDY.
DADDY should rather fall into the context of biological 'father' in our modern tongue. FATHER, in scriptures carry different meanings, context as used tells the difference.

Lovethywilbedon: Goshen360 Honestly, you are sounding Catholic this afternoon. let just wait until frosbel and his brothers see this your COMMENT, because I will "bet" they DISAGREE with you.
Well, we or people will ALWAYS disagree. Don't let that bother you. Frosbel & I disagree on couple of topics, few though but that doesn't separate us from the love of Christ. Lemme look for the link. Brb.

There's nothing wrong calling spiritual authority 'father'. Don't people call their biological father, 'father'? There's also a context of 'spiritual' father. I did expound on this in the past, last month or so, if I could still find that thread, I will post it. Christ never meant don't call 'spiritual' authorities 'father'.

Christianity EtcRe: The Convention Of Bible Teachers And Interpreters by Goshen360(op):
Ihedinobi: Our salvation is utterly by and out of God.
Exactly what Ephesians 2:8 is saying or says.

Ihedinobi: Nobody needs salvation if they can save themselves.
Exactly what Philippians 2:12 is NOT saying.

Ihedinobi: However, when we have been saved, we are trained to produce the works of salvation. And being conscious, intelligent conduits, we don't just get out of the way to let the Holy Spirit through, we actively walk in the things He reveals within us.
Exactly what the two scriptures, when put together is saying - We are saved by God and God alone BY Grace through faith, not by working our salvation by ourselves. When God saves or saved us, just like a newly born baby, everything we needed is put on the inside of the new man, the believer. What Philippians 2:12 is saying is NOT to do your own salvation by yourself\ourselves but work out what is already in us or put in us, work it out.

What is put in us is 'the salvation', which is the gift of God, then work it out....from the inside; live it out as it were. It is first by Grace through faith wrought on our 'inside or inner man' that it might then follow by working it out what had been done inside. The key word for Philippians 2:12 is 'work out' and to 'work out' or 'work it out', it must first be 'in' or it must first had been 'worked in', in us before it can be work out. Philippians 2:12 is not saying we are to do our own salvation by ourselves neither is it saying we are responsible for our own salvation; man cannot save himself but God.
Christianity EtcRe: The Convention Of Bible Teachers And Interpreters by Goshen360(op): 9:07pm On Apr 12, 2013
^ Good. That's why I wanted you to clear that up. Why then do 'some' quote that verse to mean that we are responsible for our own salvation by 'working it out'? I will buttress or expand on your point thereafter though.
Christianity EtcRe: My Brother Goshen, Please Explain Your Stand On Fornication Here by Goshen360(m):
^ Take the law (of Moses) if you want to, that's your understand of scripture. I've learnt not to judge people by their knowledge or understanding. We read the same but have different understanding or knowledge from the same thing we both read. As for me, I'm dead to the law (of Moses) and married to the law (of the Spirit).

Brothers and sisters, all of you understand the ·law of Moses [ law]. So surely you know that the law ·rules [has authority] over people only while they are alive. 2 For example, a ·woman must stay married [ married woman is bound by law] to her husband as long as he is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from the law of marriage. 3 But if she ·marries [or lives with] another man while her husband is still alive, ·the law says she is guilty of adultery [ she will be called/labeled an adulteress]. But if her husband dies, she is free from the ·law of marriage [ law]. Then if she marries another man, she is not ·guilty of adultery [ an adulteress].

4 In the same way, my brothers and sisters, ·your old selves died, and you became free from the law [ you died to the law] through the body of Christ. This happened so that you might belong to someone else—the One who was raised from the dead—and so that we might ·be used in service to [ bear fruit for] God. 5 [ For] When we were ·ruled by [controlled by; living in;  in] ·our sinful selves [our sinful nature;  the flesh], sinful ·desires [passions] stirred up by the law were at work ·in our bodies [or within us;  in our members/parts], so the things we did ·were bringing us [ produced fruit leading to] death. 6 But now we have been freed from the law, since we have died to that which ·held us like prisoners [controlled us;  held us]. So now we serve God in a new way ·with [by means of; in the power of] the Spirit, and not in the old way ·with written rules [or of the written law;  of the letter].

Romans 7
The Expanded Bible (EXB)

Many Christians are 'spiritual' adulterers or adulteress because they are married to Christ (the resurrected one, not the Jesus who died to the law of Moses by HIS BODY...verse 4. This is one of the problem with the church, I tell ya! - Christians who are NOW married to the Christ but tied to or still bound to the law of Moses by obeying the law of Moses or mixing it up with the law of their new marriage to Christ.

@ All,

What I'm asking basically is, are we saved by 'working out our own SALVATION' or it is the 'Grace through faith' that we are SAVED by?

@ italo,

I think i.chuka hits 'something', part of the meaning but I want him to explain in a way that folks will understand. I will tell you what it is when or after we rob minds together or after we have some fellowship together.

@ i.chuka, please explain better. I do understand what you point to but put your answer in the perspective that, are we saved BY 'working out our own SALVATION' or it is BY Grace through faith that we're SAVED? It cannot be BOTH.
Christianity EtcRe: The Convention Of Bible Teachers And Interpreters by Goshen360(op): 5:27pm On Apr 12, 2013
My thought on many 'confusions' in the body today never tends to cease especially when I scan some scriptures in my mind. This thread was created to put side-by-side bible verses that tends to look or sound contradictory so 'bible teachers & interpreters' can function in the Grace. This is another one I'm bringing out,

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8

Aside of the above scripture, many other verses clearly points that man is saved by Grace through faith in Christ. Acts 15:11 says the same but on the other hand, I hear\see many quote

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12

and apply it to mean we are to work out our own salvation by ourselves which is contrary to being saved by Grace through faith. If it is to be worked out by ourselves, then it will no longer mean we saved by Grace through faith and if it means or is 'saved by Grace' through faith, it can not also mean work it (salvation) out by yourself - Grace that saves through faith is then null and void. We are confusing too many people. So, which one it is?

1. You're saved by Grace through faith or
2. Work out 'your own' salvation

Over to you, Bible Teachers! God bless you!

frosbel: ^^^

Their judgement lingereth not.

Our work is to keep talking and preaching.

I am thinking of starting a leaflet project, where we can distribute tracts with information on the tithe and the prosperity gospel to reach hundreds of thousands, at the initial phase in Nigeria, I don't mind spending money on this.

Like you rightly said, it is sickening to see people reject the word of God in favour of money.
Pastor Kun: ^^^
The idea of tracts make a lot of sense, I am also willing to support the cause financially. Our captive brethen must be set free.
I'm Goshen360 and I ENDORSE this project! I'm also willing to contribute HEAVILY!

We need talk as usual, outside the forum and start planning towards it! YES, we CAN!

Bidam: May God make us of quick understanding and not all this head knowledge of scriptures, jingoism and trying to look for loopholes and techniques in order to evade what God has said..It takes the Holy Spirit to actually understand and discern the simplicity of the Gospel. May God help us. Amen.
So, on what ground does the Holy Spirit reveal the truth? On empty head? Or on the platform of the word, via studying (the word of God) to show one's self approved unto God? You're operating based on your knowledge and what do you call 'head' knowledge if it is not put their by God's Spirit? When I say something you agree with, you will not say I used 'jingoism' and all that stuff; you only condemn it when it doesn't suit or agree with your view. Hmmm, interesting!

@ Enigma,

Chai, see Enigma ooooo. How long shall ye be with me and not understand me? Huh. Yes, I did quoted those scriptures. Maybe you need return to that thread again and quote 'important' statement I made. But one of what I said is, "when those laws RE-SURFACED to Christians, it did not RE-SURFACED as though MOSES WAS GIVING IT or THEM TO US. And actually & truthfully, it is HANGING ON CHRIST NEW COMMANDMENT - LOVE!

Meaning, A Christian DOESN'T EVEN THINK (it doesn't cross his\her thought) about adultery, murder, stealing, false witness etc when such Christian is walking in Christ's love as a NEW COMMANDMENT....NOT.....as though MOSES GAVE IT TO US. Again, I do not boast myself and if I do, I boast the I know not that I may know MORE, the way I understand these things written in scriptures, God is my gift! cool

Also, I showed from that thread, that the 10 commandments which includes the above - thou shall not ..... were also aprt of the whole covenant of Sinai that is cancelled in Hebrews. If it is cancelled and then re-surfaced to us or re-presented to us, was it re-presented as though Moses gave it to us after one portion of scriptures says it is already cancelled?

@ Enigma,

I hang on scriptural understanding to believe or say whatever I say. Do NOT quote me OUT OF CONTEXT brother. I just said TORAH but you're extending it to the whole of OLD TESTAMENT - That's not true! Unknown to many, TORAH began in Exodus 19\20 AFTER Israel left Egypt. I'm NOT ascribing my statement to the WHOLE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT.

New Living Translation (©2007)
Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God.

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
We know that whatever is in Moses' Teachings applies to everyone under their influence, and no one can say a thing. The whole world is brought under the judgment of God.

Romans 3:19

Can you honestly say by the scripture above that the Torah (Moses' Teachings) applies to Christians?

Enigma: Goshen

Let us start like this: can you tell us where in the Bible it says sex between a couple who absolutely intend to get married and have sought parental consent is allowed?

smiley
I honestly do not think of anywhere in scripture for now but where it happens or happened in the Torah, the penalty is for them to be married or pay dowry, not death by stoning. But I'm not a man of the Torah like I said earlier because I believe the Torah ONLY applies to national Israel and not to Christians
Christianity EtcRe: My Brother Goshen, Please Explain Your Stand On Fornication Here by Goshen360(m): 1:43pm On Apr 10, 2013
^ Okay my beloved brother. I "perfectly" understand the 'view' and angle from which that 'sexx outside marriage' is defined from and that's why you would see I took time to re-visit and identified the MIS-conception. I perfectly understand that other aspect but you, Enigma or others are yet to give 'reference' from scripture that the 'outside' in that phrase, "sexx outside marriage" also applies to the 'before' se.xual act. That's I need you to do then we can accept the 'before' and 'after' one is married to be included in the phrase meaning of "sexx outside marriage"

2. If such act (sexx before marriage to one intending to marry as discussed all through) is engaged and both still ended up marrying, can the 'before' still be charged against these two people that 'fornication' is\was committed?

I DO NOT INTEND TO PUSH THIS ARGUMENT FURTHER IN ANY CASE AND IT'S NOT LIKE GOING ABOUT PREACHING THIS INSTEAD OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST TO THOSE OUTSIDE BY WHAT IS WORTH KNOWING, IS WORTH KNOWING WELL. I ALSO UNDERSTAND YOU PERSONALLY AS A PERSON AND YOUR CONTRIBUTION. I WILL SEND YOU AN EMAIL IMMEDIATELY HENCE. THANK YOU BROTHER.

@ Frosbel, this topic is interesting but unfortunately, I'm not chanced this season. I just come in and do one or two or three post generally on the forum. I'm busy now as per what I told you outside this forum...you grab?

But I will keep spying on this thread because I need to balance one scriptures quoted by i.chuka and the one I will quote below . . .it has troubled in the past. Take a look,

New International Version (©2011)
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Romans 5:19

New International Version (©2011)
To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone's account where there is no law. Romans 5:13

I only need answer, I'm into this thread yet like I said but the thread I think, is interesting. Now, if by Adam, all were MADE SINNERS and verse 13 says, the sin that Adam committed or other people, it was NOT charged against ANYONE'S account....that 'would' include Adam right? How then is verse 19 that we are made SINNERS if Adam's sin was not charged against him?

Well, I think I have an answer but just wanna hear your view cool
Christianity EtcRe: My Brother Goshen, Please Explain Your Stand On Fornication Here by Goshen360(m): 1:06pm On Apr 10, 2013
Enigma: 1--- Is sex between a man and a dog, sex outside marriage or not?

2--- Using Nigerian law for now, is sex between a man and another man outside marriage or not?

3--- Is sex between a married man and a single woman (who is not his wife) outside marriage or not?

smiley
1. Anyone (married or unmarried) that engages in sexx with animal, in this case, dog, commits fornication in an act of bestiality.

2. LOLZ @ Nigerian law. Are you 'suggesting' if I flip the other side of the coin to be, should Nigeria change their law to allow or permit sexx between a man and another man, will that still mean it is right by God's definition of 'homose.xual'? Anyway, Nigeria or no Nigeria, sexx of a man and another man (both married or not) is perversion of sexx nature and it's homose.xuality

3. Sexx between a married man and another single lady who is not his wife is sexx outside the bound of his marriage and is the true context of fornication as it relates to man and woman who are already in existing marriage which one had outside of his\her marriage with another man\woman.
