@ Joel, We need take this issue one another the other, otherwise, we mix things up. First, I need you to explain how one can understand one tongues (as per Acts of the Apostles chapter 2) and NOT understand another tongues (as per 1 Corithians 14:2). One was spoken to PEOPLE and those PEOPLE clearly understood it (Acts) and one is SPEAKING TO GOD & NO ONE UNDERSTANDS HIM (1 Corinthians 14:2). One do you reconcile both? You need first answer that my question and then I fill follow-up to explain what the rest of the verse you quoted is talking about. Thanks bro Joel. |
zoelife: @ Goshen360: Ill answer you but first help me with this: Is prayer a LAW for the Christian? No, it is not. I expect your answer to my question then. |
^ That's not true Joel. The account is CREATION and it is literal. You need to cool down and understand Genesis 1:1, if you do, then verse 2 will be more evidence then verse 3. But if you mis or MIS-interpret Genesis 1:1, then you MIS every other verses that follows. Also, "In the beginning" of Genesis 1:1 is NOT the same as "In the beginning" of John 1:1. Go and study the word bro. ![]() |
zoelife: Well, like @drummaboy said we are all Kings and priests unto God, hence we are all qualified to give and receive spiritual sacrifices. We all should start a church then and start receiving tithes, since its the easy way to luxury. SMH.That's not what he's saying, he is saying, priests don't tithe, they were commanded to receive tithes. So that makes a 'nonsense' of the whole thing now that all of us believers are kings and priests unto God. Go & study Hebrews 7 and be sincere to yourself, tithing had ended in Hebrews 7. Using Abraham's tithing as examples for Christians, the whole was not officially functioning in the time of Abraham, and as such, how do we make Abraham's tithing A LAW FOR CHRISTIANS? Can you answer that? When did Abraham's example from spoils of war, not his personal income or properties became a TITHE LAW FOR CHRISTIANS? We need an answer please! Thank you! |
Confusing? I will deal with it later, not today sir. |
^ The tongue that was spoken in Act 2 was well understood. That is very clear to every bible student. How then do you explain this verse (below), if it is the same tongue with that of Acts 2 that was understood? New International Version (©2011) For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. New Living Translation (©2007) For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious. English Standard Version (©2001) For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. New American Standard Bible (©1995) For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.) For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 1 Corinthians 14:2 Notice, the tongue that was spoken in Acts, was spoken to the PEOPLE NOT TO GOD. The tongue talked about here is NOT to people, unlike the one in Acts BUT TO GOD. How do you differentiate the two please, you people need to understand 'something' very very well before you go out attacking it. I need an answer please and don't tell me I'm lost about the subject if you cannot explain this verse very well. I'm waiting please. |
@ PhenomenonVFX, Don't bother giving the guy any rebuttal because he only post and will never come back to discuss what he said. He is a legalistic motivational speaker and a person strongly rooted in the Torah from God Christ died to set us free from. Also, he is a Judaizer and one of those that troubles or persecute the Grace and the promise of the Spirit. Leave him alone. I have confronted him many times but he will never respond back. |
Well, I have not been opportuned to listen to him that much even though I heard so much about him and his message(s). I do understand, from what I heard about him, he is a true man of God; he might not be perfect or 100% correct in doctrines. As per the questions, 1. I don't know about his tithe doctrines. From what I have read about him on this forum, he doesn't put much pressure on money anyway but as for tithing, I cannot answer for that until I know about it. 2. Like I said, I haven't listened to much of his messages but when I read about him calling out on MFM who conducts deliverance sessions for CHRISTIANS. Brother Gbile called them out and said it was an insult to the finished works of Christ which he is 100% correct and I agree with you, the word of God also testifies to the truth of his words. Another thing I may want to find out is, if he mixes Grace with the law or balance law with Grace or confuse both. That will be an important thing for me\us to find out. That's what I can say about him for now. |
DrummaBoy: Here we go again: confusing grace with the Law.My brother, this is the MAJOR problem in the Nigerian church or with most Christians. Saved by Grace and they continue to or return the the law of Moses to continue to live their Grace saved lives. Spiritual adulterers they are - Romans 7 |
Goshen360: The prayer tongues is a Spiritual gift that engages one's praying in the spirit. verse 2; 13-14 of I Corinthians 14. This kind of praying tongues, no ONE understand it neither is it a known language because it is mysterious in the Spirit, (verse 2). If no one understands this tongues here, it means it is a different kind of tongue compared to the sign tongue of Pentecost because that was clearly understood. |
^ 1 Corinthians 14: 1-End is our text & 1 Corinthians 12:1,4-11 & 28-31. Goshen360: There are two categories of tongues recorded in scriptures namely:to be continue |
Haven't read & digest properly but by glancing through, this is a good stuff. I will contribute more later bro. Good & great job. |
dont get you either, which is gift explain
I will explain in the morrow, ain't got no time much today. It's a spiritual gift for the new man...inside. |
truthislight: ....You are my brother in this race and a co-labourer with Christ. We will preach this gospel of grace until revival hit our nation. |
Joel, this topic had been discussed many times. Why not do a search and see if you get an answer. It's a literal light anyway and God himself was the source without the moon, sun & star. It was a light that dispelled the primonal darkness. |
It's a Spiritual gift. |
mysticgal: ok what ever, buh goshen you get followers oh,abeg find me some That I might point them all to the RESURRECTED CHRIST and to the saving power of God and then allow God Spirit mature them unto the coming of our dear Lord & Saviour. Again, the Christ that died represent the law of Moses, in the flesh and died to fulfill the law that we might be MARRIED TO ANOTHER, THE RISEN CHRIST OF GRACE. Romans 7 |
Degis: Another promoter of false doctrine!. How were the massive crusades in the Bible carried out, if they gave their all to the poor only?. It is by thinking outside the box that you will realise that offerings were given in the church for different purposesCan you please show us where money contributed in the early church went for 'massive crusade'? Again, I didn't say money contributed MUST BE ONLY FOR THE POOR BUT IT IS MOSTLY USED FOR THE POOR AMONG THE EARLY CHURCH. |
mysticgal: dayGod doesn't put people in hell for not tithing sweerie. The sins that God judges are clearly stated in scriptures and I didn't see 'non tithing' listed therein. Take your time sweerie, and study more on the word. What God blesses is Grace based giving. |
mysticgal: say whatever you want i will still tithe.lemme tell it's a commandment and it must be kept. Nothing do you o my sister. We don't 'force' on people, we 'teach & preach' the word and allow God to do the rest. The same God who commanded it to the Jews, also cancelled it to Christians. |
There's nowhere in Scriptures where a New Testament Christians were possessed and 'falling under anointing' in the first place, not to talk of a Christian being 'possessed' by demons. I'm not talking about UNBELIEVERS here, I'm talking about one who has truly come to Christ and Lord and Saviour, a New Creation man\woman. It is an outright insult to the Cross of Christ that some 'legalistic and judaizer' preachers are still trying to mix or balance Grace with the law of Moses and serving it to Christians as spiritual food. |
Goshen360: The lies of tithe is further exposed when I further looked into some words meanings @ those who said Apostles Paul by 'inference' taught tithe to Christians even without using the word 'tithe'; they are just being dishonest and word meanings proves that. Before I return again fully, lemme drop this here and if it doesn't shut their tithe mouths forever, |
Legalistic preacher! Whatsoever the TORAH says, it says to the JEWS, NOT TO THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH. |
^ NO! A Christian is different from the Jews. Christ cancelled the laws that separate Jews and Non-Jews and made ONE NEW MAN in HIMSELF, not governed by the law of Moses for the Jews ONLY. The law of Moses (Torah) is NOT meant for Christians but ONLY for the Jews. There's ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE in the New Testament for Christians to tithe, none but rather, Hebrews 7 writes to the Jews who were still practicing Judaism to come fully to the Grace of Christ and abandon legalisms of the law of Moses. Hebrews 7 cancelled tithing also. |
^ No wahala. ![]() |
@ Opening Post, The Apostolic church, that is, the founding fathers do not have such practices. Even the so called church offerings today are meant for the poor among them. This is not to mean that 'offerings' are not to be used for other needs but the only reason collections are made in the New Testament is to empower or help the poor among them out of their poverty; not the sunday sunday tonic we have this days and never are the poor among ourselves helped. |

@ vowiski, What has my comment got to do with your sayings? I don't understand how what I said that you quoted both correlate. Is it that I said, 'glory to God, praise God' that is your issue here or something else? Or maybe I'm missing something from your post. |
