And they say Ekiti is the fountain of knowledge. Fayose playing to the gallery since 2014 AD. Imagine him say physical and non physical infrastructure. Lol. I laugh in my native language. Fayose's only achievement in his one year in office is telling the whole world his mum wears pampers, trying to instigate a national crisis by his infamous newspaper advert, running his mouth like a spoilt tap. On his assertion that security in Ekiti state is now better, need I remind anyone of the spate of kidnapping and crime witnessed in Ekiti since he became governor?(maybe that's his own idea of security). The women center, is it his administration that constructed it or Fayemi's? Ogbeni, tell me u that u've given Christmas rice, chicken and groundnut oil to Ekiti people in ur first one year in office and I'll agree. Tell me there's any infrastructural project u've embarked on and I'll slap sense into ur big head. Oh! PoliticsMinisterial List: Fresh Nomination Crisis In South-west Apc-tribune by handie(op): 6:06am On Oct 04, 2015
•Oyinlola, Akeredolu’s nominations threatened Oyinlola, Akeredolu’s nominations threatened •APC leaders take fight to Abuja

FRONT-row gladiators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West are locked in a battle of wits, following the release of ministerial nominees in four states, with fierce battle raging over the control of the outstanding two, Sunday Tribune has learnt from parties in the crisis.

The final pick from three states of Lagos, Ekiti and Oyo, were said to have been a shocker for certain godfathers and leaders who were reportedly self-assured that their own nominees, different from those announced by the media, would emerge having submitted their names to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Though the official list is yet to be made public by Senate President Bukola Saraki, indications emerged on Thursday that the current list circulating in the media, is same as the official one sent to the senate by Buhari.

Sunday Tribune contacted a couple of the nominees mentioned in the media Thursday night and they confirmed first-ever contact from the presidency, demanding their Curriculum Vitae.

This information contradicts the reports in the media that nominees were invited to the headquarters of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Abuja for security screening.

A nominee from North-East confirmed to Sunday Tribune that the appearance of the nominee’s name (sex withheld) in the media was a shocker to the nominee and while still wondering, an SMS came from the presidential villa demanding the nominee’s CV.

Another nominee from North-Central confirmed receiving similar SMS. The nominee’s name is also in the media and the nominee never attended any security screening. It was also the nominee’s first contact with the presidency over the ministerial selection.

The short SMS read “Pls I need your CV. Sabi’u Tunde, PA to C-in-C”.

A couple of the nominees got the SMS at exactly 3.45pm on Thursday.

All the names mentioned as nominees for Oyo, Ogun, Lagos and Ekiti had also reportedly got the call for their CV, confirming their consideration for the job.

The emergence of the quartet, particularly that of former Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola, former Ekiti State Govermor Kayode Fayemi and Mr Bayo Shittu for Oyo State, is creating serious ripples in the party in the zone, with winners and losers in the first half of the power struggle, reportedly intensifying efforts to ensure that Osun and Ondo would not elude them.

The camp of the National Leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu with the active backing of former National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, is said to be pushing hard to ensure their nominees for Osun and Ondo sail through after having all their nominees rejected in Oyo, Lagos and Ekiti.

All parties in the ministerial struggle reportedly conceded Ogun slot to former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was said to have brought forward Chief Bode Mustapha.

Buhari reportedly rejected Mustapha on the grounds of age with Obasanjo being asked to replace him.

The concession to Obasanjo was said to have informed the decision of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State to nominate Mrs. Kemi Adeosun as a commissioner.

The decision of Obasanjo not to replace Mustapha, was said to have created an opening for the governor who upgraded Adeosun as a ministerial nominee.

Tinubu and Akande reportedly lost in all other three states, with Wale Edun (originally from Ogun) nominated by them, losing to Fashola in Lagos, Dele Alake nominated by them losing to Fayemi in Ekiti and the duo and Governor Abiola Ajimobi losing to Shittu in Oyo.

Shittu is a known antagonist of Governor Ajimobi. The governor first nominated his immediate past Commissioner for Finance, then withdrew the nomination for a senior staff of Arthur Anderson.

There is also controversy regarding who Tinubu and Akande actually nominated in Ekiti, because, as of last Monday, there were believable reasons that Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN was Tinubu’s choice for Ekiti, with the national leader of the party reportedly checking Falana’s reliability with certain sources (names withheld).

Sunday Tribune, however, learnt from very authoritative source that when Tinubu and Akande met with Buhari, Alake was the name on Ekiti slot in the list they submitted.

Last Monday, a political source called Edun to congratulate him on his reported nomination, a felicitation he accepted as a confirmation of the said nomination.

The announcement of nominees for Oyo and Ondo was reportedly stalled following the contention among the influential chieftains.

Sunday Tribune has reliably gathered that Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Tinubu are not on the same page over Osun nominee. While Aregbesola is pushing the nomination of his immediate predecessor-in-office, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on the basis of the accord leading to his defection to APC, Tinubu is reportedly backing Chief of Staff to the governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

Rumoured to be Tinubu’s blood, Oyetola is also said to be eyeing Osun governorship in 2018.

In Ondo, the party in the state is behind the nomination of its governorship candidate in 2012 poll, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, while Tinubu is said to be backing Chief Pius Akinyelure.

Having lost out in the first four states, it was learnt that Buhari may eventually concede the remaining two states to Tinubu who is currently in London.

A close nomination source told Sunday Tribune that the anti-Tinubu forces in the South-West are determined to ensure that the remaining two states also fall to them.

PoliticsIndependence? What Independence Are We Celebrating? by handie(op): 12:18pm On Oct 01, 2015
Ya'll celebrating independence. Well, it's your right. Nobody should wish me happy independence sha cause honestly, Nigeria is now more dependent upon the same people we supposedly are independent of than ever before and honestly, I believe we would have been better off under British rule. Get this, I'm not a white supremacist and I actually believe in the ability of the black man to do surpass expectations. But are we in a better condition now compared to 1960? Who would argue that we had our "independence" too early? Can the university of Ibadan now be compared to the University college Ibadan of the 60's? consider all the British achieved for us without our new found oil wealth. During our dependence, there was real fiscal federalism. Who can forget the groundnut pyramids of Kano and d palm oil production prowess of the South South and the cocoa production ability of the southwest or the leather production prowess of the north? Do u honestly believe we would have been this underdeveloped infrastructurally had the British still being in charge? Imagine Nigeria importing tomato paste, MATCHES and even TOOTHPICKS..... And u say we are independent? What sort of independence do we have when our leaders flock to foreign lands for treatment of common cold? We are independent and don't have an airways company. Yea we are independent but the bulk of our economy is reliant on foreign investors. Independence that the people we say we've grown to be independent of have to control our polity and regulate our conduct during elections. International cooperation? Yea, it's a global world but can we as an independent nation go and guide the US or UK in their elections? Or will the UK prime ministerial hopefuls or US presidential hopefuls come to Nigeria to debate or woo our leaders on how they're gonna conduct themselves if elected? Just imagine an independent nation going to beg another independent nation to help her in her internal affairs. I put it to u my fellow Nigerians that we ain't independent yet

Ottawa. Airport. In the lounge.
I make a rich selection from the buffet and
settle approvingly on a French wine. It’s still
three hours to the boarding of that flight to
London and on to homeland.
The plan: enjoy a meal, and settle down to
Frenchwining while mentally visualising the
delivery of my speech, “Hating Nigeria to
Greatness” at Platform 2015 on Independence
Day. Tweak the speech here and there. Envision
the cadence of delivery. Envision stage
management and body movement with Chris
Oyakhilome’s stage practice always a guide. You
see, prosperity Pentecostal Pastors do have
their uses after all. I spend hours watching
Chris Oyakhilome’s videos to learn from his
uses of the stage…
When you have such grandiose pre-flight plans,
do not sit in front of a flatscreen in the lounge.
Your plans will be ruined.
It’s a local TV station. News time. Dominated by
the impending Canadian election. Then they
mention funeral rights for some people who
were killed by a drunk driver. Then the anchor
says that the three contenders for the Prime
Minister position have been weighing in on the
tragic road accident which led to loss of lives.
In Brampton, Ontario, two children and their
grandfather were killed this week by a drunk
driver.
They show footage of Prime Minister Harper
regretting the loss of precious Canadian lives in
the said road accident.
They show footage of the other contestants
mourning.
Everybody is lamenting the loss of lives on the
road and calling for stricter measures against
drunk driving.
I marvel at the Canadian culture of life and
thank God for the privilege of Canada.
But my evening is ruined all the same. The
expensive French wine is now bitter. My food is
now cold. It is going to be a long agonising
flight to London.
Why is Nigeria made differently? Why is the
Nigerian made differently?
So much value for the life of the citizen here in
Canada. Above all differences, these bitter
Canadian political rivals are uniting to value the
life of the Canadian.
A drunk driving incident leading to the loss of
lives is making national news?
Boko Haram will have to kill at least 100
Nigerian babies to make the news these days.
The drunk driver who killed Canadians on the
road will pay. No questions asked.
Make the same guy a Nigerian and try to
prosecute him.
Then you hear:
Is he the first Nigerian to drink and drive? How
many people did he kill self?
Yorubas are worse drunk drivers and nothing
happens to them
Hausas are worse drunk drivers and nothing
happens to them.
Igbos are worse drunk drivers and nothing
happens to them.
Why are you witch hunting him just because he
made a mistake of drinking and driving?
Is it because he is a Christian? Is it because he
is a Muslim?
Go and hug a transformer if you don’t like our
culture. Go and die if you don’t like our
religion.
Even in America and Britain, people sometimes
drink and drive.
Besides, this so-called drunk driver that you
are witch hunting has contributed IMMENSELY
to the development of Nigeria.
You are just a hater for persecuting him.
So I ask my almighty God: who annoyed you
the day you created the Nigerian?

PoliticsFull Text Of Pmb's Speech At The 70th Session Of The UN General Assembly by handie(op): 8:26am On Sep 29, 2015
a
ADDRESS BY MUHAMMADU BUHARI
PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AT
THE 70TH SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS
GENERAL ASSEMBLY,
NEW YORK, 28TH SEPTEMBER 2015.
President of the General Assembly,
Secretary–General
Your Excellencies Heads of State and
Governments
Distinguished Delegates
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like, Mr. President, on behalf of the
Government and people of Nigeria, to
congratulate you and your country on your
election to preside over the 70th session of the
U.N. General Assembly.
2. May I also express appreciation to your
predecessor, Mr. Sam Kahamba Kutesa and the
Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon both of
whom worked tirelessly to ensure proper
articulation of the post-2015 Development
Agenda and to maintain the focus and
commitment to the ideals of the United
Nations. I thank Mr. Ban Ki-moon for his recent
visit to Nigeria when we held very useful
discussions.
Mr. President,
3. Fifty-five (55) years ago almost to the day,
my great predecessor, Nigeria’s first Prime
Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stood
on this forum to declare Nigeria’s desire to
develop and maintain friendly relations with all
countries. He also assured the world of our
country’s commitment to uphold the principles
upon which the United Nations was founded.
4. Mr. President, my country, Nigeria, has lived
by this conviction, even when judgement went
against us in territorial disputes with our
neighbours. We respected those judgements
and abided by them as a mark of respect for
the rule of law and the charter of this
organization. Nigeria’s record in the U.N.
peacekeeping is second to none. I myself as a
young officer in the Nigerian Army did tours of
duty in Congo and the Lebanon.
5. Nigeria has contributed to U.N.
peacekeeping efforts in Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra
Leone and Darfur. Furthermore, we are proud
of our contributions to other activities of the
U.N. including the Peace Building Commission,
the Human Rights Council and security sector
reform.
Mr. President,
6. We are gratified to note that most countries
have pledged commitment to the post-2015
Development Agenda and the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) with their means of
implementation. The successor frameworks of
the MDGs have come, Mr. President, with lofty
aspirations and if I may say so, heroic
assumptions! Nonetheless, they target
development cooperation by the international
community up to the year 2020. And they
deserve universal support.
7. This is because the SDGs mirror the hopes
and aspirations of much of the world.
8. I should stress that for the newly adopted
SDGs to be truly global, they must be practical.
In this regard, the SDGs’ core objectives of
poverty eradication and reducing inequalities
must be met within the framework of a
revitalized global partnership support by
concrete policies and actions as outlined in the
Addis Ababa Action Agenda.
9. Luckily, these two core objectives of the
SDGs are precisely at the centre of Nigeria’s
new Administration’s agenda. It must be
emphasized, Mr. President, that Foreign Direct
Investment supplemented where suitable by
Official Development Assistance as outlined in
the Addis Ababa Agenda are necessary, though
not sufficient, conditions for accelerated
development in countries that are trying to
catch up.
10. In this connexion, I would like to appeal to
industrialized countries to redeem their pledge
of earmarking 0.7% (nought point seven
percent) of their GDP to development
assistance. With the sole exception of the UK,
all concerned countries have, I am told to meet
the UN requirement. But, Mr. President, with
SDGs we have the opportunity to improve the
lives of people not just in the developing world
but in all nations.
11. The Secretary General himself has grouped
the SDGs into what he calls six “essential
elements” namely:
• Dignity
• Prosperity
• Justice
• Partnership
• Planet
• People
As a prerequisite to these and as we look at
history and remember the terrible events that
gave rise to the birth of the United Nations in
1945, I would like to propose a seventh:
• PEACE
12. Peace, Mr. President, is close to the hearts
of Nigerians, as we are in the front line in the
war on terror. Boko Haram’s war against the
people of Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon
may not attract as much worldwide attention as
the wars in the Middle East but the suffering is
just as great and the human cost is equally
high.
13. This is a war about values between progress
and chaos; between democracy and the rule of
law. Boko Haram celebrates violence against
the weak and the innocent and deplorably, they
hide behind their perverted interpretation of
Islam. Boko Haram is as far away from Islam as
any one can think of.
14. Many of my colleagues attending this forum
would want to know how our new government
intends to tackle the huge problems the
government has inherited. Friends of Nigeria
and foreign investor partners will be
encouraged to know that the new Government
is attacking the problems we inherited head-
on.
15. We intend to tackle inequalities arising
from massive unemployment and previous
government policies favouring a few people to
the detriment of the many. We intend to
emphasize quality technological education for
development and lay foundation for
comprehensive care of the aged, the
disadvantaged and the infirm. But for now
terrorism is the immediate problem.
16. Accordingly, Mr. President, Members of the
General Assembly, the new Nigerian
Government which I have the honour to head,
moved with dispatch to put in a bold and robust
strategy to defeat Boko Haram. Nigeria and her
neighbours Cameroon, Chad and Niger plus
Benin are working together to face this
common threat within the regional framework
of the Lake Chad Basin Commission. We have
established a multinational joint task force to
confront, degrade and defeat Boko Haram.
17. We have driven them away from many of
their strongholds, killed or captured many of
their operatives or commanders and freed
several hundreds of hostages.
18. Mr. President, one of our major aims is to
rescue the Chibok girls alive and unharmed. We
are working round the clock to ensure their
safety and eventual reunion with their families.
Chibok girls are constantly on our minds and in
our plans.
19. Mr. President, terrorism is by no means
the major or the only evil threatening and
undermining the wellbeing of societies around
the world.
• Corruption
• Cross border financial crimes
• Cyber crimes
• Human trafficking
• Spread of communicable diseases
• Climate change
• Proliferation of weapons
are all major challenges of the 21st century
which the international community must tackle
collectively. Let me reaffirm Nigerian
government’s unwavering commitment to fight
corruption and illicit financial flows. By any
consideration, corruption and cross border
financial crimes are impediments to
development, economic growth, and the
realization of the wellbeing of citizens across
the globe.
20. Nigeria is ready and willing to partner with
international agencies and individual countries
on a bilateral basis to confront crimes and
corruption. In particular, I call upon the global
community to urgently redouble efforts
towards strengthening the mechanisms for
dismantling safe havens for proceeds of
corruption and ensuring the return of stolen
funds and assets to their countries of origin.
21. Mr. President, the world is now facing a big
new challenge: human trafficking. This is an old
evil taking an altogether new and dangerous
dimension threatening to upset international
relationships. We in Africa are grieved to see
on international networks how hundreds of
thousands of our able bodied men and women
fleeing to Europe and in the process thousands
dying in the desert or drowning in the
Mediterranean.
22. We condemn in the strongest terms these
people traffickers and will support any
measures to apprehend and bring them to
justice. At the same time, we are very
appreciative of European governments notably
Italy and Germany, for their understanding and
humane treatment of these refugees.
23. Last year, our continent faced the dreadful
occurrence of Ebola. We sincerely thank the
international community for the collective
efforts to contain this deadly disease. We are
not out of the woods yet but we would like to
record our appreciation to the United States,
United Kingdom, France and China for their
outstanding assistance in arresting the spread
of Ebola and care of those infected in
collaboration with host countries.
Mr. President,
24. Nigeria fully subscribes to and fully
endorses Goals 13, 14 and 15 of the SDGs
regarding Climate Change. In Nigeria,
desertification and land erosion and
degradation leading to biodiversity loss are real
threats to our environment and we shall
propose under the auspices of the Lake Chad
Basin Commission a regional approach to
combat these environmental challenges.
25. We look forward to the UN Summit on
climate change in Paris in December 2015. This
summit should provide optimism to humanity
on addressing the looming threat faced by
many communities around the world.
Mr. President,
26. We are witnessing a dreadful increase in
conflicts fuelled by availability of small arms
and light weapons. I call upon all member
countries to demonstrate the political will
needed to uphold the UN charter. For a start, a
robust implementation of the Arms Trade
Treaty will guarantee that small arms and light
weapons are only legally transferred. Arms
traffickers and human traffickers are two evil
species which the world community should
eradicate.
Mr. President,
27. As we engage in these annual debates, we
need remind ourselves of the principles that
led to the founding of the United Nations.
Among those are peaceful coexistence and self-
determination of peoples. In this context, Mr.
President, the unresolved question of self-
determination for the Palestinian people and
those of Western Sahara, both nations having
been adjusted by the United Nations as
qualifying for this inalienable right must now
be assured and fulfilled without any further
delay or obstacle.
28. The international community has come to
pin its hopes on resolving the Palestinian issue
through the two – states solution which
recognises the legitimate right of each state to
exist in peace and security. The world has no
more excuses or reasons to delay the
implementation of the long list of Security
Council resolutions on this question. Neither do
we have the moral right to deny any people
their freedom or condemn them indefinitely to
occupation and blockade
Mr. President, delegates of member countries,
29. UN is 70 years old. It can count many more
than 70 major achievements as the world’s
forum and family reunion. It is my hope that in
the next 70 years, it will achieve control of
climate, help to eliminate communicable
diseases, eliminate major and local conflicts
and therefore eliminate the problem of
refugees, take major steps towards reducing
harmful inequalities between nations and
within nations and above all, eliminate nuclear
weapons.
30. Mr. President, as this is my first address in
this Assembly, I thank you and the delegates
for listening so patiently.

When it comes to primaries, PDP should never talk. Have they as a party conducted primary elections before? This is a party that internal democracy is alien to. @ least the APC conducted an election tho they got d modalities wrong and they even have the grace to admit it and cancel d election. Were it PDP, do they even need an election before they'll rush to "adopt" Sylva as their candidate? Why not go solve the internal bad blood arising from their "adoption" of Dickson and leave the APC to their own problem

This certainly ain't half of his works. Rather, this are just the ones I can easily recollect.
This is what wikipedia has to say about his music career and his production:Cobhams Asuquo likes to say that his music
career started when as a child he used to puff
his cheeks to play the 12-bar blues. Today, he is
known for producing some of the finest artistes
in Nigeria. Noteworthy among these artistes is
the Nigerian soul-singing sensation, Asa, whose
2007 debut album became an international hit.
[4] In addition to producing the album,
Cobhams wrote and co-wrote several of its hits
songs. In 2005, Cobhams signed on to Sony ATV
London as a songwriter. After working as Head
of Audio Productions at a local label,
Questionmark Entertainment, he set up his
own recording facility in 2006. He is CEO/ Head
of Productions of CAMP (Cobhams Asuquo
Music Productions), an all-encompassing
entertainment company that discovers,
nurtures and exposes great talents. Cobhams
has won multiple local and international awards
for his creative and entrepreneurial
contributions to the Nigerian music industry.
WIPO had the pleasure of hosting on July 13,
2009 a performance by Nigerian musician,
songwriter and producer Cobhams Emmanuel
Asuquo.[5] He was recently featured on CNN's
African Voices [6] for his contribution and
impact on the African music industry. Rising
alternative soul artiste, Bez is the first of three
artistes signed by Cobhams to the C.A.M.P
record label, and Bez’s debut album ‘Super Sun’
was highlighted on The Boston Globe’s top ten
list of best ‘world music’ albums of 2011. He
has won several awards in the music and film
scene in Africa and beyond. Cobhams talked
about the advantages of being blind in an
interview he had with the BBCNews Cobhams
Also spoke at the TEDxEuston in 2012 where he
talked about the gift of blindness.
Cobhams shot to international acclaim with his
musical production of the debut album by the
Nigerian soul sensation Aṣa. He also wrote and
co-wrote several songs on the award-winning
album including the hit singles, “Fire on the
Mountain,” and “Jailer.”
Cobhams has likewise produced numerous
award-winning songs for Nigerian recording
artistes such as:

Congrats to the new parts and grandparents. To the baby, I say welcome to the world... I hope when you grow up, you'll get to know how your father nearly mortgaged his country to corruption, betrayed those who voted for him in 2011 and did his best to divide the country along religious lines. Also, I hope you get to watch how ur grandma tried her possible best to murder English and how she was insultive of a man old enough to be her father(on live TV) and how she desperately tried clinging to power by inciting violence

And you guys didn't see anything wrong when they betrayed their previous party PDP that brought them to relevance and you accepted them wholeheartedly into your fold, right? Tambuwal did it while in PDP. He becoming the Speaker against the wish of party and Tinubu supported and was happy about it. He claimed that democracy won. Question is why is it different with Saraki and why the bullying of those that supported him?

PoliticsArrest Order: Saraki Relocates From Residence- The Nation by handie(op): 6:51am On Sep 20, 2015
• Police await warrant of arrest
• CCT chairman shuts down phones to stave
off pressure
• South-East Senator implicated in Saraki’s
ex parte application drama
There was anxiety yesterday following the
relocation of the President of the Senate, Dr.
Bukola Saraki, from his personal residence in
Maitama District in Abuja.
He was said to have moved to the official Guest
House of the Office of the President of the
Senate for “security reasons.”
It was learnt that the invasion of the Guest
House by the police to arrest Saraki might be
considered an assault on the Senate.
But the police were still awaiting the warrant of
arrest from the Code of Conduct Tribunal on
yesterday.
To stave off pressure, the Chairman of the
Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi
Umar, has allegedly switched off all his mobile
lines.
Findings by our correspondent revealed that
Saraki has moved out of his personal residence
to an official apartment for “strategic reasons
and safety.”
A source said: “The President of the Senate has
relocated from his personal house in Abuja.
Saraki is now staying in the official Guest House
of the President of the Senate which is like a
sacred place like the hallowed chamber of the
Senate.
“If the police and security agencies invade or
storm the place, it will amount to a slap on the
upper chamber. This can make the Senate to
join issues with the Executive despite the fact
that there is no immunity for any National
Assembly leaders.
“He has also been consulting with his strategists
on how to vacate the Bench warrant against
him by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.”
When contacted, an aide to the Senate
President, however, said: “He actually moved
to the Guest House since Monday because of
the ongoing renovation in his personal
residence due to a recent fire incident.”
As at press time, however, the police could not
effect the arrest of Saraki because it was still
awaiting a copy of the Bench warrant from the
Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
There were indications that the warrant might
be sent to the police on Monday.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Olabisi
Kolawole, said: “We are yet to receive the
bench warrant.”
She avoided further comments when pressed
to expatiate on the development.
A top source said: “I think the long session of
the tribunal on Friday accounted for the delay
in making the warrant available to the police.
“And a tribunal will have no justification for
issuing warrant of arrest on Saturday when it is
not an official period.
“The police have to be careful because any
procedural error in the execution of bench
warrant could affect the merit or otherwise of
the case at hand.
“The police can get the warrant by 8am on
Monday and effect the arrest of the President
of the Senate immediately.”
All attempts to speak with the Chairman of CCT,
Justice Danladi Umar failed as his phones had
been switched off.
An official of the tribunal could not
immediately ascertain the status of the bench
warrant.
The official said: “I cannot give you the status
on the bench warrant until Monday. I knew it
was being processed after the session on
Friday.
“On the CCT chairman, he has to switch off
because of pressure from politicians, friends
and associates. Some people are just desperate
to either speak or meet with him on the
matter.
“Also, the case is sensitive and all his lines and
other tribunal members will now be subjected
to security checks by relevant agencies. Even
some supporters of the defendant will be
monitoring the call logs of Justice Umar.”
Meanwhile, a Senator from the South-East is
being investigated by security agencies for
allegedly being the brain behind the ex parte
motion filed at a Federal High Court in Abuja to
restrain the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Code of
Conduct Bureau, and the Office of the
Attorney-General of the Federation from
arraigning Saraki .
A security source said: “The said Senator is used
to procuring ex parte order at will from the
Federal High court. We are studying his
antecedents, his relationship with some judges.
“The entire process was swift. We want to
probe whether or not there was substantial
compliance with the relevant rules and the role
of the said Senator.”
