Just thought of sharing this.



She wakes up 2am to start preparing the food, when the food is ready, she wakes him up at around 3:45am to take sahoor. He gets up, brushes his teeth and attacks his bowl of food topping it with water, tea or pap. He burbs and reclines in contentment.

He then goes to perform fajr and comes back to continue with his sleep till 6:30am when he gets up to prepare for work.

Meanwhile, madam who prepared the food from 2am cannot go back to bed because she needs to wash the plates, sweep the compound, bath the kids and prepare them for school, etc. Then she prepares to go and sell whatever her trading entails or goes to work.

She returns home around 4pm quite exhausted and begins preparing for Iftaar. She combines cooking with fetching water if there is no tap in the house.

Meanwhile our man may have arrived then, greets, enters the room to change his clothing and takes his bath after which he rests waiting for Iftaar.


After Iftaar, she does her tidying up, and goes to bed around 10pm only to be approached by our man for the 'sunnah of the bed', and don't forget she'll wake up 2am to start the cycle again.

Ironically, with all these suffering she supports the house in whatever way she can with her earnings. Subuhanallah!


This is the situation in some conservative Muslim homes (I might have left our some even more unpleasant issues) .

We would like to call on our Ulamas (scholars), Imams, to counsel some of our brothers who subject their wives to such inhuman treatment because of their understanding of marriage being that wives are to 'serve'the husbands.


Let them know wives are partners in marriage and not servants. They are supposed to be treated with dignity, love, compassion.



Meanwhile, let me say 'salaam' to all husbands who treat their wives like Queens. Allah bless them and give them Peace in this World and the Day of Judgement.

By this question, family can break. It will either make the man sit up and understand that the wife is not a slave or house maid or make the woman to assume a position she doesn't have.

For me:
I wash my wife's cloths more than she washes mine. She washes mine also. It it not the duty of any one to be washing clothes for another. Everything should be done in love and understanding.

My wife didn't get a job after 1 and 5 months years of marriage, she washes more of the baby's cloths and during the weekend i wash ours. Men have to understand that there is a lot of work women perform at home that are hard work that men are yet to understand.

Personally i use to think what do women even do at home, i thought it was telemondo, African magic etc until i had a leave from work. I couldn't wait for my leave to be over, the house chores was too much for 2 people not to talk of 1 person. After that month i bought washing machine and other things to make life easy.

My advice is, women should do it with love, though Africa has enslaved women mindset which is changing by the day. But men should learn to understand that women are not slaves to subject to certain hard work. If you want a house help go and get one, if not help in everything around the house including cooking, washing, feeding the baby, changing diapers, washing plates etc.

The husband looks ridiculous

I don't know how people reason o. You both are obviously earning well, yet to have your own house and all she is concerned about is getting more monthly allowance? She should even be the one trying to make sure your money is managed well.

People have given good advice, whatever you do, converse with her with love, discuss at length with her. You need to start planning your future, not spend money as you see it.

It makes it easier. It takes a great deal of self control and God's grace to abstain from pre-marital sex. Someone that abstained not cos he didn't have enough money or was shy around women byt cos he had enough self control and consciousness to say no to premarital sex will most likely be able to stay faithful to his wife.

Of course I'll get you a washing machine that can do warm wash and cold wash too. And I always, out of habit, take my traditional apparels and suits to the dry cleaners.

But my briefs and singlets and casual/house wears can be handled by me in circumstances that leave me no option, otherwise it should be routinely by you either directly or in a delegatory manner.

Dropping the clothes on the machine isn't doing the laundry. Someone still has to run it. That's doing the laundry.

The machine is a great help. Dump your clothes there, add water and soap, leave it to run while you do other things , rinse, and spread. Don't come and kill another man's pikin with work. Some men employ the services of drycleaners though, especially for special clothes like suits and all, so just some play clothes remains for the wife to wash.

I had a neighbour in the face me I slap you I lived in school. I always pitied the woman. 3 young children, her husband and her husband's mother's clothes. She has to wash every two days after coming back from market or else, and even at that the clothes will still be many and she cannot afford a washing machine ( a small scale trader). In that same house another man washes his clothes himself while the wife takes care of hers and her twins. So it depends on family, different strokes for different folks. Case closed.

Continue asking google o jare. Someone you are not married to is aggressive enough for you to feel concerned, you will find yyour answer after several visits to te hospital for falling down the stairs or hitting your face on the wall.
