safarigirl: as it stands the most unpredictable country is Nigeria because this is an entirely different team from coach to players and they are all hungry for success, I don't remember any player from the 2010 squad thinking of a semi-finals spot or even round of 16 like these guys, the best thing is, the guys you see in the friendlies may not make it to Brazil, it's unclear who's in and who's out, you can't prepare your defense when you can't tell the position of your attacker. So yes, Nigeria can be called the dark horse
I am loving your analysis and the understanding of this game. I couldn't have said it better. Kudos

Analyzing the raw data from your brain had been extremely difficult for me. The initial feeling is that you want to make sense but you have obvious challenges putting your thoughts down in writing in a manner that is comprehensible to the owners of the language that you purport to be communicating with.

Have you gotten admission yet? You need to do more in the area of essay writing. I wish you the best going forward.

safarigirl: Messi really isn't the star player for Argentina, when you hear Aguero and Di Maria, those are the guys we should look at, Messi isn't dangerous for country.

@topic, truth is, he doesn't know about Nigeria cos the current team aren't the same guys Argentina played in 2010, in fact, it's an entirely new team save for Enyeama, the Argentinian team on the other hand, is the same team of 2010, just a different coach, but 60 percent of the same players.

Argentina should fear Nigeria like Nigeria should fear Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran, basically, nobody should be taken for granted...Argentina we know, but those other two guys pose more of threats, Argentina may not even progress from Group F
Something tells me you are right. Besides, if we are able to manage our first game, considering our record of improving with each game, Argentina being our last group encounter may just be sorry for being in that group. The most important match for me in that tournament is our first match, that will determine how far we go in this competition.

Mr Knowitall: I want to relocate back to Nigeria from the United States and I just have some questions.

1) is this advisable to move from the U.S back to Nigeria?

2) are there any job opportunities available that one can make a comfortable living from?

3)what are the road and traffic conditions in Nigeria now days?

4) and has police harassment and political corruptions reduced? thanks.
Without caring to read other posts here on this thread, i want to say that similar questions have been severally asked and suggestions proffered in this forum, severally. Eventually the choice as always will be yours to make. I suspect that these questions are teasers to trigger arguments as to why the US or Nigeria is a better place. At the end, we quarrel, argue, abuse, insult and e-fight each other.
As for your questions, call one of your family members or friends to ask and make at least one trip back to Nigeria and then make up your mind. Enough said.

When your country has run out of oil and becomes bankrupt and reverts back to the primitive bush and jungle that it once was, at least some of the oil money would be in Ghana, used to develop that great country.

Law prince: The worse disease that can afflict a person is for him to fail to identify his predicament.
The kind of blindness affecting those criticising ASUU definitely has no description to the knowledge of even science itself.
For those who per chance have their objective hats on, isn't that board at the front of the class a symbol that our university system is extremely lamentable, awful and unspeakable?
I'm certain that not even the worse universities in Sudan or Liberia still puts on such a disgraceful look as above in this 21st century.
What else if not such an extreme decadence will be the reason for the rejection of even our PH.D graduates in advanced countries. We don't even have a chance to compete with the least developing country.
It is a sarcasm to refer to many Nigerian graduates as 'Half Baked' while in reality there was no bakery at all.
Nigerian students don't even reason locally talk less of globally. Imagine a graduate that doesn't know the need of a common projector.
We definitely don't need a less revolution by ASUU. Lets cover our various sentiments and selfishness for the sake of our future. Biko!

In comparative analysis, you use 'worst' not 'worse' as used twice in your post.

You dont say 'the worse' disease that can afflict a person, neither do you write, 'not even the worse universities in sudan'....

For the avoidance of doubt, you say and write, bad...worse....worst...

I am not indicting you, i am indicting the fact that your education is not even half baked, there was no bakery at all.....I recall i was taught this in primary 3

Emytex boy: This was posted on an Hausa page about the south east and their struggle for Biafra.
I fear for the people of south east, who are in the fore front for the disintegration of Nigeria. My fears are, how can they survive?
Igbo people are known as industrious and enterprising, and this makes them not to hesitate in doing anything that will bring wealth. Majority of crimes are committed and started by Ndi Igbo all in their quest for money. It'll be a survival of the fittest and those that can't survive will run to other countries, but they will be turned down, because every country has its problem. National treasury will be looted and elections will be won by the highest bidder.
Kudi(Money) will be the order of the day. I pity the poor in that nation. It'll be better for them to stay in Nigeria and keep managing or they will use each other for money in that Biafra.
Umaru Auwal.
Biafrans, give us your honest view about this opinion of a northerner. No sentimental view.
My initial reaction was to ignore this heediot, but on second thoughts I felt I should tell the fool that idiocy shall never depart from their lineage. A madman is better than the OP because that one has been certified mad, but when a pig starts barking like a dog, then its obvious that whatever the problem is is genetically hereditary. Now go back and take the drug for managing your mental state and don't ever get out of the room until your caregiver says so. While at it, keep on eating and feeding your generation the shi.t you are all used to. Imp.

mitey: Settle the matter once and for all. Just invite the so-called cousin to your boyfriend's place, be the perfect host and cook for them.
Chat with her as you would with your very close friends, but also ask questions indirectly, and with as much friendliness as you can muster. Try to be friends with the other lady. If she is really a cousin, then you've met his family member and it always helps to have a friend in your bf's family.

If she is not his cousin, he might not be comfortable with the two of you being close together.

Just be very watchful of their actions together and pick all cues, verbal and otherwise from their interactions.

If after seeing them together, you are still not convinced, invite her again.

If you are still not convinced, you have to confront your boyfriend immediately. Because otherwise, you will only plant a seed of distrust that will degenerate into something else later.

What you do from there on is up to you.

Hope this helps.
I go with this suggestion. In addition, while cousin is there and after having been well taken care of, kiss and caress bf after all family shouldnot get offended about that, then take bf to the inner room and go through the motions of making out with him, cousin will either quarrel or leave in anger. You would have confirmed a position either way.

Apart from that guy that sued and won, dont you know that idio.ts like you have been given an opportunity to contend with LASTMA based on that judgment? Go ahead and leave your rights to God, he will come down and fight for it. I have never had LASTMA tow my car, the day it ever happens, i will leave the car for them in perpetuity until i would have gotten a similar judgment. The difference is that having obtained that judgment, i will appeal on the amount of damages and i will go all the way to the Supreme court, then i will come back and ensure that i levy execution against the exact officer that did the rubbish. By the time i am done with him, he and his family will be begging for food on the streets.

If you are not ready to play in the world cup, then start looking for a cheaper team to play with.
Let it be England, Brazil, Spain, Nigeria, let them bring them and play together.
Dont know why we get scared whenever we hear the name of countries involved. Are they not playing with Eleven players.
Bros no vex, but eleven (11) pass (11) oooo

In our local parlance they say 'Man pass Man', apply that to the world cup and you will realize why it remains a near impossibility for Nigeria to defeat Brazil in this kind of encounter (not age regulated engagement).

Infact even the players play with a level of respect and deference when they meet their 'uncles' in the turf, it is human nature.

Culture › Re: What Are Cultural Taboos In Your Village Or Area by hardbody: 10:46am On Dec 04, 2013
pendusky: Nigeria has a lot of cultural and traditional beliefs and taboos. Some are actively practiced while others are dormant and are not necessarily practiced presently.

•For example in the Ibibio tribe using the left hand actively is a form of insult and seen as a form of negativity ,such as using the left hand to give or accept something and even using the left hand to eat.

• In the past, Ladies esp the pregnant women were not allow to look into Masquerade in the face otherwise she will born a baby that resembles Masquerade. but now adays U will find ladies taking a photo shot with the Masquerade grin grin

The taboos are not the same, they vary in ethnicity. Here are some examples:

•In the Eke-Idemilli area of the Ibo land, its a taboo to kill any form of snake.

•The Akwa people do not allow the killing on their monkeys, although this is not widely practiced in ibo land generally.

•Suicide in some parts of ibo land also is a taboo, and the family would be the ones to pay the penalty if anyone commits suicide.

•In some areas of Idoma land, when the king dies, its a taboo to mourn at the funeral.

•In some parts of Yoruba land , its a taboo for pregnant women to go near a corpse.

•In some parts of Benin, displaying palm fruits in public is a taboo , rumors have it that one could even loose his or her head.

•Some parts of ibo land forbids eating of yam in the month of August.

•In some parts of Urhobo Delta State, cutting of fire wood at night when the moon is full is forbidden, rumors have it that such a person could become a statue.

All these myths are just a traditional mans theory to find some meaning to existence. A scientist would call it typical hypothesis that can never be proved. This must have been created when man had total fear of the unknown and still tried to understand the universe.

Share any cultural taboo you know about in Nigeria here;
Bros, the scientist might call them hypothesis that can never be proved, but where i come from in Arochukwu, there is a 'mythical reality' that if a married woman screws outside her marriage and the husband gets to know about it, the husband should forthwith desist from eating anything cooked by that woman, the day he does, several negative things will start happening to him (as warning signs to put him on enquiry)and this will eventually culminate in his death if nothing is done to the woman. If a relative of the woman is aware and does not disclose this infamy, that relative will positively die. I do not need scientific proof of this, it has happened severally to my knowledge. I called it mythical reality because, while it sounds like a myth, it has been happening and continues to happen.

Again i know that we do not marry on a particular market day 'Nkwo' and any lady that deserts the husbands house on an Nkwo market day never comes back to that home (she will do that deliberately if she doesn't ever want to come back anywhere) and it is clear to both sides that the marriage has packed up irretrievably.

there are several other myths, breaking of kolanut in a particular manner and the sharing pattern, especially where you have only one kolanut and more than 20 people representing various communities, including even states. They bring in an intrigue that will make taht single kolanut go round.

I think our forefathers had good reasons in doing all those things then, which is why we are not letting our custom die.

Proudly AroMan-TIC

By usage, it is considered a miss, same way you should not use a laced shoe to wear a traditional outfit. I have no explanation to the reasoning behind these but if the world of dressing (a'la locally) thinks it is absurd, then it is best to join the band wagon as people will just see you as being unusual in your dressing if you were to dress otherwise.
