TV/Movies › Re: 12 Funny Things Typical Of Nollywood Movies by hardbody: 6:50pm On Nov 14, 2013
i know they are trying, however i do not watch Nigerian acts. Which is also another reason i keep insisting that we do not have celebs in this part of the world. Anyways, i hardly watch movies, boya Nolly, Bolly or Hollywood. When i choose to watch anything i watch boxing, streetfights in youtube, musicals and those stuff that are real and not acted. I do not even watch wrestling (its acted too) of course football is it anyday

Properties › Re: Architectural Designs For Nairalanders Who Want To Build by hardbody: 4:10pm On Nov 14, 2013
lastpage: With my "little" knowledge of security and how it works, l actually think "high fences" negate the very idea of security that people are trying to implement!
Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPED) actually suggests that though fences are important in other to demarcate and take possession of your security perimeter, making them "see-through" will actually enhance the overall "collective security" of your house and other houses in the street.
Have you ever wondered how "thieves spend ONE WEEK in some people's house, putting them under siege, without even their next door neighbor being aware until when the thieves now decide to leave after over staying? grin
That is what those "Prison walls" do to you.
They are designed to "contain within" but not to "Prevent from without", which is what l believe should be the crux of any home security.

Once they can scale those walls (and thats quite easy, barb-wire or not), your high fence serves no useful purpose anymore and is actually now a danger to you and your occupants.
Think about it further, in your own quiet time and tell me what you feel.

BTW: Good Alsatian or Rottweiler dogs would do a better job of preventing neighborhood nuisance from entering your compound (not determined armed robbers o!) than those high fence.

Lastpage
Dead on point. I regret fencing myself in. A group of 8 guys walked me into the 'safety' of my enclosed wall (a bungalow on its own grounds) and would have had a field day dealing with me in there, but fortunately for me, my alsatian was crouching by the corner, as soon as they matched me through the small gate, their henchman gave me a slide from behind ( i guess they did not want me to take any advantage of the better knowledge of my environments) but my faithful dog sprang at the first guy, the rest hurried out of the gate. Unfortunately they had already collected my phones and stuff i bought for the dog (including left over food and bones from my lunch earlier in the day). However, they either did not see or identify my IPAD so as soon as i was safe in my room, i locked my blackberry using the blackberry protect. My samsung and Nokia Lumia went with them.

I still shudder at the thought of what they would have done to me if i did not have a dog inside my self imposed prison. Come to think of it, all my other neighbours have low fences.

All of these happened between 10.30 and 10.35 pm.

adamooye5: On my openion I see sense In her advocacy, this is moral value the society has long lost.she's jst bieng a mother.
You belong in the 15th century same as the woman advocating nonesense. flog any of my relations where there is no law to that effect and see how i sue you right to your pants. We are here talking about politicians stealing our public coffers and using their convoys bought out of tax payers money to harrass, kill and maim innocent and hapless citizens. Hypocrites of the highest order. How does their dressing negatively affect the standard of living of the average Nigerian? If she is scared that her husband might leave her and follow the 'indecent' dressing ladies, she should think through and step up her game rather than talking like the cave woman she is

Nairaland General › Re: Is LAGOS Bearable For An Average Man Nowadays? by hardbody: 8:49pm On Nov 13, 2013
Venchy: Make up in a moderation and not excessive.

Get use to good practice and stay away from lawlessness, Qeue is a practice but nigerians are use to pushing and sogorin, whenever I go to First bank in Nigeria, people rush like flies over poo poo as well as the Bank staff doing their own thing without full concentration, no manners.

Qeue to live a simple life my sister.
Your story about first bank means u haven't been around for aeons. There are no queues in any banks except maybe wema and union and those are not banks in my estimation.
Nairaland General › Re: Is LAGOS Bearable For An Average Man Nowadays? by hardbody: 8:47pm On Nov 13, 2013
Lagos is still more manageable than some states
Opportunities abound, housing is fairly OK, foodis pay as you go and you can generally survive on N100k if u want to live like a human specie. However there is still a lot to be done to make this city a dream abode.
Car Talk › Re: Your Speedometer: How Often Do You Check It? by hardbody: 7:41pm On Nov 13, 2013
Ace Ventura: @ Vivacious vivi, your car is a honda product (honda city or civic) & the beeping is a safety feature. Very annoying sound but it works.
My 2013 pajero beeps same way but I usually ignore it until the needle starts crossing 160km/h. Essentially speed doesn't kill recklessness does. I speed when I have to especially when powering home on third mainland bridge at past 10 pm or when I hit the Edo stretch of the road enroute villa and all the way through Benin -Asaba expressway, go past Onitsha and all the way to owerri. December 23 is by the corner when I will stretch that machine to the east for Xmas. I might hit 200 km/h this time. I do 180 regularly on my avensis, the center of gravity is more friendly.

Beat her until she passes out, keep beating her till she comes back to herself and then if you haven't crippled her by then, send her and her things to her parents house and ask her to remain there till you are ready to come for her. And make sure you are never gonna be ready to go back for her.....

bizibrain: SE will surly win dis match, all tins being equal, if dey try 2 increase dere pace and av ball possession.

Back 2 ethiopia coach, he had its chances of bad bumpy pitch, high altitude , high temperature and d fans support @ addis-abbaba, he screwed it up and he still av d gut 2 open mouth dat he will cause upset 2 SE in calabar

He neva learn frm his bluffing, instead of him keeping quiet pretending 2 accept defeat and den take on super eagle unexpectedly, he still av d gut 2 increase d preparation of d eagle with is empty mouth bluffing.

He said earlier on dat he will teach eagle some football lessons, but @ d end he was thought goal line technology

I pity d pathetic man because his eyes would b red like d way it was wen dey were disqualified in Afcon group stage.

With 7 countinous clean sheet of VINCENT ENYEAMA and 11 clean sheet of d season @ lille FC, I know he will b able 2 stop any ethiopia striker d way he stop falcao.
You dont use words such as 'surely' and then say 'all things being equal'.

Surely means certainty, all things beings being equal is a probability of things happening based on certain assumptions.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do People Treat The Jehovah Witnesses Like A Plague by hardbody: 3:59pm On Nov 12, 2013
The reason is simple, Jesus said if they treated him like sh.it, so also will they treat his followers. For the truth seekers, if you find time to listen to them, they will answer all your question, citing your own bible. It appears to me that they are basically the only people that say it the way it is hence a lot of the other religous propagandists do not want to hear them telling them the gospel truth.

By the way i like your moniker @ booty

Food › Re: Why Do Travellers Buy Bread When Visiting? by hardbody: 5:32pm On Nov 11, 2013
If i am driving home, I buy bread, If i fly halfway and join public vehicle halfway, i dont buy anything. The few times i bought i managed to forget them in the vehicle. All i do these days is as soon as i get home, i walk across to the nearby shop and buy large quantities of loaves that i share out to relations. I guess it has become a norm that people must bring bread when they are visiting, the reason, we may never know.

Its about a month before Christmas, the running rate for the robbers must go up if they have to meet their budget. I can quite feel them, it is almost the end of a fiscal year for them too and society will audit them in terms of achievement when they get back to their villages, so they need to paint a good score card.
