Balenciagaokey:

Anambra state is one of the most blessed states with good leaders. From Ngige, Peter Obi, and Willie Obiano. I am not from anambra state. But the state has one of the best (urban and rural) road networks in Nigeria. Places like Onitsha, Nkpor, Ogbaru, obosi, Idemili, Ojoto, Okpoko, awka are rough areas. But the governor has tried in terms of security and Workers welfare packages (state workers).
For me the ranking for governors in South east: 1st position - Dave Umahi (Ebonyi state) 85% 2nd position - Willie obiano (Anambra state) 75% 3rd position - Okezie Ikpeazu ( Abia state) 50% 4th position - Ifeanyi ugwuanyi (Enugu state) 30%
N.B: Hope uzodinma excluded (Just elected). Bros I beg you in the name of God, Okezie Ikpeazu a.k.a onye ikpeazu meaning the last person is actually last in ranking not only in SE but in Nigeria as a whole. He has scored perhaps 3 percent in the ranking of right thinking men everywhere. The only governor who hasn't done better than him is one that was never elected |

You are the only one who have tried making sense of what could have happened.
Task force is just another form of robbery in Nigeria. Even when You are right. Task force will impound your goods or cars and ask You to pay an outrageous amount of money. Task force should have video evidence before impounding anything. There was a day I was in a fuel queue, all of a sudden task force came and took my car. Their reason was that the car had red plate number, a new car that was just bought barely a month. All explanations that the car is being used to run my business failed. They said I should have painted it a taxi color. I told them it's not a taxi, but used for my business. If I had a gun then.........
I had to pay them the usual outrageous amount So true. Those guys are a law into themselves. I don't like people being killed but I wish a few more get that treatment so they can start thinking that there are powers that can counter them. Let the policeman get charged with manslaughter at best and serve a jail term. Crunchies go quench the matter. I sabi the guy die. |

Ryan03: the way you guys type eh, its just like the police men are always at fault. Have you had any dealing with these taskforce guys before? Have you seen how they behave to people? You can't even talk to them because they will badly harass you. I was not there but no police man will just arrive the scene and start shooting at them. As much as the media tries to portray the police in a bad light, this is a total lie. Shooting was wrong but pls, when writing these stories, they should also add what happened between them before the shooting. Police men are humans too God bless you bros. Task Force and Revenue Collectors believe they are above the law and act in excess of the powers in the extant laws establishing them. They had in my presence taken away a security staff of my company for asking them not to block the entrance. We had mopols on ground and it could have degenerated but I had to calm the mopols and went with them to get the security man out after paying some money. Killing people is bad but aggravating a gun totting reckless man is a suicide mission. It was not stupidity when OBJ said you don't argue with a man carrying a gun. Dead men tell no tales. |

Elimon: There have been series of influx of these termites in the southern part of Nigeria..while many tribes find it more edible, others do not but frown at it. Many people enjoy it as snack after frying it dry with spices and served hot or called.. Different tribes have different name they give to it..in Ibibio/Annang it is call Ndube or Nduwe Tell us what it is called in ur language and do you find it paletable Efiks call it mbube. Aros call it Aku-nwa-mkpi I used to eat it but it suddenly feels awkward. |

Elimon: Im still striking on you clearly separating the Ibibio ethnic group from the Efik sub group..im Annang but im generalising the 'Ibibio' I use in this subject...Efiks are of Ibiboid ancestry..its like sepaating the Aros from Igbo because of accent..Efiks are also generalised as Ibibios in quote..I've never been to Calabar but i can speak annang,Ibibio and efik and also interact with people from these various subgroups..its all accent. Ibibios use ekpe..the Ibibio(central) sub group even claims to have developed it..efiks are thought to have borrowed it from Uruan neighbours(Ibibio coast dwellers). Its only in annang areas that we change it to Ekpo but its still a secret society as the Ekpe..some places even combine the two. If an Aro speaks Efik,im save to say he has spoken an Ibibio language and I as an annange person can clearly understand it. Proof is if the person is fluent in Efik, the person will sure understand ibibio(central). That's why its called Efik-Ibibio language There may never be an end to this argument, so i am happy to leave you with your beliefs but those have not convinced me one bit. I am aware that those derisive snigger between the Efiks and Ibibios still exist. Even the Ibibios tend to classify some of theirs (as if there is a caste system). Having said that, I insist that the Ibibios own the Ekpo (spirit) and you can decipher that from their spirit songs (i am initiated and a member of that society) while the Efiks own the Ekpe (their songs, nsibidi and paraphernalia speak volumes (I am also initiated). You are also wrong to say it is only in annang area that Ekpe is changed to Ekpo. Everything about both spirits including the totems they represent are worlds apart. While one is dressed in beautiful and flowery paraphernalia, the other comes rubbed with charcoal. That is a story for another day. I speak Efik but not Ibibio, even though like you rightly said, I will certainly understand central Ibibio. Does it then mean because I can pick Patua as spoken in Jamaica makes me a Jamaican if i am ordinarily English? Weigh your line of reasoning again. Lastly I hope you are aware that there is an Efik Bible with no Ibibio dialect. In the final analysis whatever we believe works. Cheers. |

Elimon: To correct you..do not really separate the efik from Ibibio..because its only a stock Ibibio(Ibibio,annang,efik,ekid)..I believe you Aros borrow extensive Ibibio names, rites, traditions, cults(ekpe eburutu) which is a clear proof that Aros came to meet another settled group at Ibom(Arochukwu) Im not lying if i state that the site is failed because since the British with the help of Ibibios mainly from Annang stock destroyed the original long juju...it ceased to be a thing of concern in the coastal areas unlike before the expeditions. Just so you know, Ibibios do not have Ekpe, they have Ekpo. We do not bear Ibibio names. You may find a sprinkling of Efik names and yes, in my father's generation, more than 60% Aros, spoke Efik (not Ibibio) and in my family (immediate and extended) we all speak Efik (not Ibibio). Our relationship was with the Efiks. We still have Ibibios as neighbours and we even access Arochukwu through their villages till tomorrow. The subject matter of my argument is not who destroyed the long juju and the effect of that destruction. I hate to derail. |

Whenever history is being it is good for every part that made such history to tell their own story not just telling your own side of the story. * NOTE* Ibibios are made up of various clans and what transpires at Ibom before d advent of Europeans had nothing to do with the entire Ibibios , but groups that are now spread in three local government area of AkwaIbom. It involved only d Ibibio group, IBO groups and Ekoi(Akpas). The infighting among the Ibibio group was the Genesis of everything. So be maternally related to a group we Ibibios see as an expelled group from their kinsfolk in Uruan who acted as middlemen to the Europeans tells us nothing Aros right now are mixture of people and we don't have issue with that but the fact remains that Ibom was first Ibibio not your earlier claim of Ibibios trespassing but a betrayal from inside and to the IBO group they once sheltered Whatever floats your boat. If you hadn't purported to start sharing the historical antecedents of who the Aros are and how they trespassed into Ibibio land, we would not be having counters here. Believe in whatever makes you happy. I am done with this convo. Peace |

You want to tell an Ibibio the history of Ibom? I do not know Ibibio's history of Ibom but I know Efik's history of Ibom (I am maternally affiliated) and Arochukwu's history of Ibom (Its my paternal lineage). I stick to what I know. You aint ever gonna tell me about the History of Aro. I do not and we do not agree with this fabricated story "Arochukwu is believed to have been the homeland of the Ibibio as they arrived in 300 AD from the Benue valley and founded early states like Obong Okon Ita and Ibom. Many years passed as Igbo immigrants came along and pressed into the Ibibio occupied territory and founded several states." This actually stands history on its head. |

Now i hope they brag about a failed site Stick to what you know. The Aros are more inclined to the Efiks. Which is why we still have Ibom Eburutu...Eburutu means Efik. Having said that, the Ibibios forayed into Aro territory for a long while leading the Aros to bring in mercenaries called the Akpas to fight the ibibios and permanently keep them at bay. Beyond being an Amadi Aro, i am also blue blood and can tell you everything worth knowing about the history of Aro. Do not paint us with the wrong brush. Please. |

XXLMANDIGO: I am finding it hard believing the story. Stabbing oneself is one very unlikely way to commit suicide except probably the victim is on overdose of drugs. The detectives should do a thorough job investigating the 13 year old daughter, neighbors and their acquaintances. In my opinion it's very possible the woman stabbed herself on the thigh after the altercation that led to the death of the man.
It's my opinion anyway ,but it's easier to commit suicide by shooting oneself, as that's almost a painless one time death; hanging , Sniper and jumping from the 3rd mainland bridge is relatively easier than stabbing oneself and evacuating the organs.
I shudder thinking about this You spoke my mind. I have nothing to add. That lady should be quizzed. |
