Do you think you are close to achieving your aim? Because a Christian can say that God himself provided medicines to cure our sicknesses... so it's only right (for a man with a common sense) to pray, apply the medicines and thank God for healing you through the herbs/medicines.

Is that scenario a real application of common sense?

What ever I do now is aimed to bring people to terms with reality and it helps in many ways.

So people died, and therefore prayers are not answered, is not a valid conclusion. Moreover, death is only a transition.
And if i want to be sarcastic like you and some other aethists, I would ask for video evidence of the conclusion you are making above.

You serve a god of miracles.
He answers prayers.
He loves us more than any human can ever love us.
Then why is he not restoring the limbs of amputees?

Seems you have not heard of the Lazarous syndrome. Where people are thought to be dead only for them to jerk up back to life. It happens not only in humans, it happens even with animals.
We presume people dead when vital signs are missing. Eg heart beat, pulse and lack of physical response to stimulus. All it takes is an electrical impulse from a living nerve to kick start the whole body back to life. This process can be self induced by the body. So not a miracle to me.

The miracle I want is that of an amputee growing back a limb. Simple

The heinousness of the "no God mentality", how would it help the plight of mankind ?

It would lead to more research and development that would better lives and society.

A good example is medicine. Knowing that there is no God to miraculously heal has lead to man helping himself. We have been progressing in developing medications, vaccines, surgical procedures to save lives.

Amputees have more hope relying on science to give them artificial limbs. There is absolutely no God that can give an amputee back his limbs.

Simple.

The only thing I will say is that you should conduct research before trying to state facts or statistics or better still please speak for only yourself and your experience.
I am happy you were even sincere enough to admit "even tho i didnt pray". But u have no idea if someone else did over same issue.

So making assumption that i didnt pray and nothing happened doesnt mean nobody prayed.

What of the millions or billions or maybe trillions of prayers unanswered?
I have seen a guy desperately praying and asking people to pray that he should not die here on nairaland and yet he died. (Some People would know the case I speak of). Same with several people who travel by road and end up dead in accidents despite praying. So because one person was fasting and his son escaped death we should take it as God?
Don't such happen to people of other religions too? Don't such happen to atheists too?

We have billions of people on earth. Everyday each person does something improbable. What is the probability that a mosquito will bite me on a specific pin point part of my body? It is irrelevant but you can choose to attach relevance to it.
Being saved from being crushed on an highway is not as strange as you think. It is just one of those things that happens to people everyday. You can choose to make it seem special because you live in constant fear. I have lost count of how many time I am told to pray against things that never happened even tho I did not pray. And there are millions of people that have died in accidents even after praying for God's protection.
Good and evil happen everyday to everyone.

Same with Billions or trillions of coincidences that happens around the world everyday. Probability of many happening is almost zero.
It is very probable to live in constant fear and eventually something happens that makes you believe your fears were justified. So it is not as improbable as you think that while he was fasting something happened that made him believe his fasting was ordained to save the situation.
I repeat, do you know the billions of other prayers and premonitions that never panned out? So what is there to celebrate when occasionally you see something that coincides with your expectation?

As for you who gave the reason of instinct and asked if God needed me to starve myself before he showed up allow me explain something to you. Fasting is in various forms and I never stated the one I did but let me help you further....a fast is never complete without prayers and I never abstained from food as thats not my passion. Next to God and my wife my next passion is my business so my fast was to abstain from attending to my business and picking up business calls and not food related.

Instinct could not have been the reason behind what happened because instinct is fallible but this occurrence was well scripted and executed and all fell perfectly into the timeline which it had to in order to work....instinct isnt constructive...instinct is a flash in a pan.

THIS WAS GOD AS HE HAS ALWAYS DONE AND SHOWN HIMSELF TO ME BEFORE NOW.

I agree with him because he was able to show that the story does not have to make logical sense. It is all based on miracles. Correct mathematics does not explain miracles. Mathematics can't explain jesus feeding 5000 men with just 5 loaves of bread. so don't think you are making sense here and claiming my maths is wrong yet you want me to call it a miracle. The 2 don't go hand in hand.

So yes I will agree with anyone who gives a sincere miracle explanation and the fact that the story is silly and implausible to the intelligent and can only be believed by the foolishness of blind faith. Then you are on track. Anything else like many have you have tried proving the bible makes sense, only exposes your desperation cos you end up saying things the bible even never said.
