It is always illiterates I see wash plates, pots and clothes without soap. It is always illiterates I see cook meat and vegetables without washing. Illiterates normally don’t wash hands while cooking or before eating. Every educated person I know follows the guidelines taught in school. Personal hygiene can be learned from observation. Even in time of Christ, neat and dirty people still dey. School does it's own quite alright, but if you are neat as a parent, your children will unconsciously copy it... And the attitude will become a consciousness in them

Long before covid, I had develop a consciousness of always washing my hands immediately I get home. This was because my mom insisted we do it whenever we returned from school while in pri. And sec. School.

During my nysc days, it took a while for my hostel mates to understand that it's was part of me. Some thought I always go somewhere to finger my girlfriend hence I always wash hands when ever I return

And it will shock you that my mom didn't finish sec school. She was in standard 6 or 7 before the civil war broke and she couldn't countinue after it.

The thing is: some persons are just dirty whether literate or illiterate. And they pass that dirty consciousness to their children

Illiteracy. Hygiene is taught in school. Not everybody had elementary-level education so such case is prevalent. The biggest problem is, even in 2022, babies are born who wouldn’t see the four walls of an educational institution. Those individuals will continue the cycle.

IMO, The most part of hygiene is thought at home. Schools only teach it theoretically. It was my mom who taught me how to sponge myself properly, brush my tongue and inner corners of mouth and teeth, wash my clothes properly, the list goes on.

Hygiene is a form of consciousness, once one is trained with it... It will reflect in everything facet of you actions
