thelastPope: So how do you know Buhari is speaking the truth. You lot are all funny. Quoting his words and saying it clears things up. So funny. I was in school in 1983 when he took over. The guy is a big fool and the reason we are going through what we are going through today. If he had not truncated our democracy, we would have gone through all the teething stages during the 80s and 90s. Now we are trying to go through it in 2012. Buhari should be lined on the street and flogged. He is a big fool who wanted to rule for life in a Sharia based Nigeria just like Murtala Mohamed. He was a thief and among the first corrupt set of military officers along with Gowon, OBJ and IBB. He is a coward that hid behind Idiagbon for 20 months and had no true followers in the military. A dolt who tried to use the WAI cliche to decieve gullible Nigerians but everyone later saw through him.

The simple way to no a good leader is:
How many true prodigies has he mentored?
How many persons and communities has he influenced positively aparts from using the islamic carrot to garner almajiris?
What did he do with 100s of millions of PTF monies. Where are the projects he built accross the country?

This man is a fraudster and deceiver that will only get support from people who know nothing of our history and do not ask simple questions.
thank God you know history, did you ask questions? you did not even read the interview? he never plotted a coup and what do you mean sharia like murtala? Pls dont show us how bigoted you are, give us the benefit of doubt.

The time of solon and gomorra has come. then, when we read of those time i thought it was not real, now its even worst.
the way the gay people are coming out boldly without any shame beats my reasoning, i might be shallow, but it does not make sense to me.

FYI, islam see gay as worst sin than even sleeping with your parent.

we know that we have gay muslims, but dont justify it with islam.

If Christianity accept gays as part of their religion, why most islam do? am saying this based on some comment i read here, as if having gays recognised in a religion makes is funky.

And if they are real, why have a place of worship that you dont want people to know it location? so they are just doing that for their kinds.
PoliticsMaduka: How Ifeanyi Ubah Swindled Me Of N21bn by hasyak(op): 11:11pm On Nov 26, 2012
For the past 38 years he has operated quietly behind the scenes, only visible in the press when absolutely necessary and in that space of time, he has built the Coscharis brand from an upstart with little or no capital into a colossus with tentacles spread across major auto luxury brands – Range Rover, BMW, Ford, Jaguar, etc. And with a reputation that opens doors and access to mega funds both locally and internationally, Cosmas Maduka was on a roll.

According to him, it took hard work, sweat and focused determination, in the process, riding through rough times with a dogged tenacity to get to the very pinnacle of business success. Maduka appeared to have all going for him until one bright summer morning when fate chanced a meeting between him and Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, chief executive and founder of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited in an aircraft. It is not unlikely that he will curse that day forever going by what he knows now. It set the stage for the biggest mistake of his business life. As is often the case with that element called trust, one party is left bruised and bloodied while the other party has run away with the loot.

Maduka is a wounded man right now having been dealt a fatal blow by his own kinsman, he calls his ‘kid brother’, Ifeanyi Ubah. It is a business deal between them that has gone sour and a usually careful Maduka is left holding the short end of the stick.
The contrast between the two principal actors in this unfolding saga in age and lifestyle couldn’t be more stark. While Maduka, who is in his 50s lives an austere and modest lifestyle unimpressed by the grandeur of riches, Ubah, who just turned 41, is fascinated by the grandeur of wealth and lives an ostentatious lifestyle with the full trappings of money and power – private jets, luxury cars, multi-million dollar homes scattered across the big cities of the world, lavish parties, etc, are all prefixes to his name.

It is like a fairy tale, a well scripted Hollywood movie that will make Anajemba and Emmanuel Nwude’s celebrated fleecing of a Brazilian Bank, Banco Noroeste of Brazil, between 1995-1998 of $242 million look a like child’s play. Only this time, all the dramatis personae are Nigerians including the bank. It is indeed a riveting story of trust and betrayal. Shaka Momodu and Davidson Iriekpen interviewed him at his Mazza Mazza office on how the business deal was struck and how it went from promise to bust. Excerpts:

Seriously, a nation with Nuclear power built by self isn't to be messed with. Israel has nothing to do with them and will forever pray to never have. Israel has been fighting "Hamas" for Decades even with ruthless military tactics hasn't been able to uproot "Hamas". Yet you want Pakistanis to unite behind a course to fight Israel to test their might? Even with western intervention, Israel will be no more should they go to war with Pakistan. And many of you dunce here are being sentimental with truth here. Because you are Christian don't mean Israel is strong.

Israel is not a Christian nation and they despise Christians too you fools.

Tell me Nigeria isn't stronger than Ghana in military power because we can't solve Boko Haram menace? Are you guys really this ignorant about global military forces?
A nation that builds her own war crafts and can build a replica of any war craft used by man wants to train Nigerian military and you guys are talking shiiiit here?

Last time I checked, an Israeli sold FG a broken Drone.

Israel is not on same level with Pakistan Military wise... Pakistan is like the only nation with the tactics of four global military powers. Russia, China, USA, Britain... All train with Pakistani military. Are you mad? Are you guys mad? They have hackers in abundance and among the first nations to successfully jam radio transmission of modern US/UK war crafts. Seriously you guys are naive or ignorant... Put your religious ego aside...

They should train Nigeria in Military technologies! That will be our best deal ever!!

tiniyata: @all quick to callin most Nigerian graduates unemployable, what makes u think u are better off?, that a man failed ur interview does not mean he wont excel elsewhere, that a man dont know all the states and capital does not mean he cant be a good marketer or banker, that a man graduated with 3rd class does not mean he is a complete failure, that a lady cant spell her name does not mean she cant be a good cook, and start an eatery business, that a man cant speak good english does not mean he cant invent new ideas/strategies. Everyone is unique in his own special way, and No man is dull or an illiterate, cos by default there are some intrinsic values that are inherent in every being..... Lets all join hands and build our NAtion, cos its no longer news that its a failed state, but its our own country, and no one would love his/her home/country better than us NIgerians. A friend of mine that graduated as an accountant (a broke unemployed grad) just started a newspaper company of his own, he prints dailies, tho small at the moment, but it will metamorphorse eventually, another friend of mine who is also a petroleum engineering graduate had to learn tailoring and he has got a small shop, and has even gotten his own designers label, tho small, but i know he definitely will make it, cos he makes more than 350k monthly. My people, pls just try and do anythin u think u can do, think of something, however small it is, cos u will definitely make it only if u try....dont place all ur trust on govt jobs/NNPC/ oil coys /banks or the last interview u went for. Just give urself a company name, write a vision statement (even tho u dont have money and no company) and read it aloud to yourself everymorning after calling urself the CEO, trust me before 2-years, u will be that CEO of that coy u never tot u could get, and u would be so amazed as to how much u have made it in life, cos u will treat the coy with care, like ur whole life depends on it. Cheers happy people

Godman_n: Do you know what Economics is? The Federal Government controls the economy globally; meaning we can only operate within the circle they created. If they create a small circle, we share the little that is inside. If a bigger circle, we have more to ourselves.

The fact is that our economy has shrunk to an unbearable level. What can an individual do in the economy? Can you farm? No. There are no implements. Even ordinary fertilizer you cannot get. Animal feeds are hardly available. What about Financing your business? Even medium companies find it extremely hard to source credit in this economy because of our government banking policies.

Legally, there are no grounds to do business in Nigeria because there are no laws. If I defraud you in this economy, you can't get back your money unless you are more connected than I am. If I invent anything in this country, no one can protect my invention. All the business in Nigeria is mainly about stealing and copying other people's invention.

Tell me who you can run a business in Nigeria than by stealing.

That is the problem. Our corrupt government is the problem.

Our people are not lazy; it is the systems that encourages laziness.
I dont know economics, but what i know is that Nigeria is a market for goods and services, if well planned.

With this type of mindset of yours, i think it best you follow the system that encourages laziness!

PropertiesRe: This Is For The Frustrated Self Employed Nigerian Looking For Office Space.. by hasyak(m): 4:52pm On Nov 15, 2012
Propertysearch: Frustrated about getting an office space for your business? Why not set up one from home.

Working from home is now becoming a trend with Nigerians, as many employees and individuals alike are now taking the “Self Employed” status, due to the fact that it is very viable and a lot of people derive self liberty from the option. Setting up a home office can be a really frightening prospect, especially if one is not availed with professional advice and support. So if you are self employed and just starting out and you're probably asking yourself “what does it take to set up an office at home?” you need not worry or look else where, for I will guide you on the steps to take in setting up a home office well suited to your person, so keep reading.

Get steady power supply: I really do not need to emphasize how important getting a steady power supply is if you're to start any business be it from an office or from home in Nigeria. We all know how the power situation is in the country. So the first thing you do is make available a source of power supply, be it a generator, an inverter or any other alternative.

Find the perfect workspace: In finding the perfect workspace, you need to consider the type of business you want to operate from home. Your type of business will determine the level of privacy you can accommodate. Personally, I would suggest you find a dedicated space away from distractions such as the TV, others living in the house and so on. With a dedicated space, you'll be able to separate effectively your business life from your personal life.

Get ample space for your workstation: Space is a very important part of a person's workstation, so make sure you're not cramped in. Give yourself enough room to work.

Select a well lit area: Working in a place not well lit can really affect one's productivity, it could even cause headaches, strain on the eyes and tiredness. So choose a place with appropriate windows so as to let in enough light, as well as enough air for proper ventilation.

Map out your office: For those considering setting up a few office equipments, it is important you measure your office space, in order to keep the space organized and not clogged up with paper work and office equipments.

Save space with multi-purpose equipments: If you're faced with limited space, I would suggest you get equipments or furnitures that can perform more than one task like the all in one printer, scanner, or copier. Better still, you can also get roll-able furnitures that can easily be moved at any time.

Organize your space: Keeping your space organized and tidy will give you a sense of professionalism.

Keep your home office just the way it is: You need to understand that your home office is where you'll be transacting business, so it's important to keep that way. Do not for any reason include distractions like the TV, video games, etc. Unless it is absolutely necessary for your work.

Provide storage: A lot of people who work from home always seem to ignore this step. The fact that you're working from home does not give you any reason not to properly store away your documents and office supplies. A storage space is very necessary if you want to get the maximum satisfaction of a home office.

unemployable? i believe that should be the correct word.

Here people are lazy and dont want to think and work hard, always looking for shortcuts.

As a graduate, you should be able to "USE YOUR HEAD AND THINK" and do something no matter how small and grow, most you look for JOB?

You can create jobs from your head, Nigeria is still a virgin market for lots of ideas. You can improve on a service thats is already there or create something new!

Jobs should be a stepping stone to your dreams not your dreams, so start THINKING!

Even on Nairaland here, some people make money by selling their services or product. You dont need to have the product yourself, but have a relationship with the owner of the product/service and market it and make some commission. Many will rather spend their time here posting nonsense from one page to the other, if that time is used for promoting your service or product i believe you will make money.

Christianity EtcRe: How Did You Become A Christian Or Muslim? by hasyak(m): 12:11pm On Nov 01, 2012
afam4eva: Ethnicity is something that ones is born with and not something that you learn or become but religion on the other hand is something that you became or was probably passed down to you but it has not always been like that.

Whenever I see people from different religions arguing over who is right, i wonder, are these people fighting for the religion they belong to because they found themselves there.

As a Christian, i wonder what i would have been if i was born a Muslim or a Budhist. I'll probably be proclaiming that Allah is the best thing to happen to the world. If some Muslims were born Christians, they would have been preaching Jesus to whoever cares to listen.

Now, are you a Christian/Catholic or Muslim because your parents were one and you were probably born one? I guess majority of the answers will be in the affirmative. Only few people actually get to convert to another religion. You see some Christians saying that Christianity is the way thereby citing how Alhaja A converted to become a Pastor.

I'm sure Moslems also have a story of how a hardcore Pastor became an Imam. I remember i asked one Christian why he thinks Christianity is the way and he said "You'll know once you feel the Holy-spirit".

I want to imagine Moslems are still Moslems because they're also feeling something similar to the Holy spirit in their religion. If they were not benefiting anything they would have left, right?

You'll also see someone telling you that God provided the house, cars and everything that he has attained in life. Now, Atheists and people from every religion also have these things. T

here are also poor people from every religion. It now brings me back to the question "Are you part of your Region because you were born into it or because you made a conscious effort to be part of it"

Btw, I'm a Christian.

kingoflag: (@the bolded)

Bullshitt! Yes, I said it: Fuc**king Bullshit! Like playmode said, yall just twisted in the head is all. The same silly excuse you gave above is what Nigerians always give when they finally start receiving the long term rewards for their short term decisions. Then they get to acting like the outcome was not predictable from the onset. The truth is, an overwhelming majority of Nigerians are hardcore hypocrites. They claim they want change and development, but because they know that it will come at a cost of being disciplined, they choose leaders that mirror them both in morals and actions--- but still foolishly hope that he'll miraculously change upon assuming power. Even if he did attempt to bring change,Nigerians would still resist. To say Nigerians are myopic is to put it mildly--- they need a total social reorientation. Normal people dont act the way they do. No right thinking person keeps choosing poverty over success.

What do you mean "are there any more right leaders in Nigeria" ?! Was Goodluck Jonathan your only choice in the last elections? Did you somehow miss the name Muhammad Buhari on the ballot? Buahri was definitely not the best Nigeria had to offer, but in that Election (like previous ones since 2003) hes been the best of a bad situation; even more glaringly so in the one that produced Goodluck Jonathan as President. But because Nigerians know that electing a man like Buhari would mean them embracing discipline, even if it meant an improvement in their standard of living, they made up every excuse--- from the reasonable to the absurd--- on why Buhari should never see Aso Rock. They immediately "remembered" that he was Muslim, an ex-Military Officer and a former Head of State. They also remembered he was dictatorial while he was Head of State (as if he had a choice when he was battling characters like Umaru Dikko), and that he ruled by decree (Umm... it was a Military takeover from a horribly corrupt Government people, read your history).

Then came the absurd--- He'll introduce Sharia (which he didnt do as Head Of State), "He's not young We need Young People", "Hes also a crook, he must have stolen money too we just didnt catch him, plus it'll be hard to catch him because he doesn't want to spend it now until all eyes are away from him " (this about a man that has a farm house in Daura and lives on his pension). Anyway, wouldnt common sense dictate that he's had over 30years to flaunt $2.3Billion if he really had it like the rest of his corrupt colleagues? Oh, and what better time to start spending stupendous wealth than when the grave might come calling at anytime? If he hasnt spent a dime from the Billions he "stole", when his he going to start?

Common Sense right? Dont think for once that Nigerians dont know what to do,they do, they just choose not to. There was a clear choice between Good and Bad, Competence and Incompetence, Corrigible versus Incorrigible.....

Nigerians had the choice between two proven track records; That is how you gauge someone! What you've done in the past= What youre most likely to do in the future. But they decided to choose the one with a record of incompetence and corruption by using every excuse in the book to denounce the man with good intentions. Now that the effects of corruption have started biting them, and their Government ---week in, week out--- force-feeds them with increased doses of corruption, now they want to cry. Sorry, but Its too late to cry now.

I could go on and on but I know its a waste of time. Most Nigerians have reached the land of no return; theres no turning back now.

If the head is not good, the tail will be rotten. A leader is the people.

Bottom-line, until that country is somehow blessed with an anti-corruption crusader, I'm sorry to say, the future doesnt looks pretty bleak.
