guy u a missing a very important link here.how do violent crimes and all its attendant vices spring up ??when people placed in a position of trust abuse and responsibility abuse it ,the resultant effect can easily boomerang right back in our faces .,giving rise to disgruntled youths, who feels disenfranchised, used, neglected, abandoned, and their usual response to such governmental, societal injustice is via violent activities. there is a very thin line between endemic scale official sleaze such as we have here and VIOLENT CRIME.we should ask ourselves why Nigeria law is very lax and ineffectual in dealing with many cases of glaring theft of public fund? gun or no gun ,I believe strongly those two are simply a victim of failed society system.hanging those two won't stop anything ,more are warming up and forming gang as we speak and Everybody ,no exception, will bear the brunt of this failed system. I have been robbed at gun point myself (ran into an ongoing robbery operation in a beauty salon in broad daylight, cash and phone taken from me and other victims)look, I just thank God for my life I wasn't shot.so that's that ..the vicious cycle will continue.. let's face it ,naija is a lawless waste land, where everyone is presumably equal before the law however the glaring reality is some are certainly more equal than the others.thank you

Philosophy is not for the feeble minded unfortunately.

If your faculties permit, try to process this:

Mr. A embezzled public funds. Consequently, Mr. B chooses to unleash violence and terror on Mr. and Mrs C and D... By the way, Mr and Mrs C and D are also 'victims' of Mr A's embezzlement!

Yet, C and D strived to find a legitimate way to earn a living and go about their lives as law abiding citizens both withstanding Mr A's supposed embezzlement. Now, tell me how they would rationalise Mr. B's decision to steal, brutalise, rape or even kill them using a weapon, supposedly because of Mr A''s actions? What's the philosophical basis? What's the connection? Put yourself in Mr and Mrs C and D's shoes, and rationalise Mr. B's action from that perspective!

I know this is too complicated for you to understand, but please stick to your inanity, and don't attempt to use grand philosophy to justify nonsense. Philosophy is an elite discipline, reserved exclusively for the high minded. It is not for the intellectually bland, plain, vulgar and dense masses.

Ha! shocked

Black skin with a black heart? Bros calm down jare!

People should learn to help without expecting anything in return. If you want to help, do it out of ur heart or for the sake of humanity.

If you feel you deserve anything in return, its better you write an agreement.
Man cant be predicted. You even had to bring rligion into this.

Well am a Christian and Christians help so God will bless us in return and not man.

Typical black man (woman) with a black heart primed for an unreasonable sense of entitlement, betrayal and ingratitude.

Why look at the natter from the angle of the 'helper'? Imagine taking about helping for Gods sake! Who be Jesus for this life? Christian indeed. Every human being has a selfish streak, even in charity. That's why you would buy a phone of N50k when your neighbour has not eaten. Why not use that money to feed the poor,
around you as a Christian, "so that God would bless you in return"? Hypocrisy stinking to high heavens.

So the guy helping you doesn't have brothers, sisters, relatives or other closer people to help?

I want you to look at it from the angle of the helped. If someone helps you become somebody in life, should you simply shrug it off as no big deal (disgusting sense of entitlement), as per, yeah you deserve to be helped anyway, or would you have a modicum of gratitude knowing that that same person could have channeled that life changing help towards anyone else other than you? And you would have still been in the gutter where you deserve to be?

What's so difficult in going the extra mile to show gratitude and appreciation afterwards?

Armed Robbery goes with a capital punishment. They should have known before using arms

Don't mind them.

If every poor or frustrated human being on Earth resorts to arms in order to possess whatever he or she covets, then humanity would return to the Hobbessian state of nature... One that was nasty, brutish and short. A world of barbarians without law, order or organised society. The caveman era where the "strongest" prevails. Where a stronger (i.e. Better armed) person can just take over your life savings or even take over your wife with impunity.

Scam me out of my money if you can, and if I'm stupid enough, but walking up to me with a gun and intimidating me to surrender my possession is the lowest level of humanity.

Oyinbos are the greatest philosophers. They have thought about these things carefully before deciding that the law must discourage violent crime more than any other form of crime.

Botswana and Rwanda are Africa's Golden Boys.. Beacons of hope for an otherwise hopeless and miserable continent.

Nigeria, on the other hand, is an embodiment of the Dark Continent's hopelessness and misery. A waste of geographical space.

You people need to stop being foolish.

Come back here to tell me your real opinion about this after you've been robbed, and probably your sister or wife or girlfriend has been molested by armed robbers who eventually only stole a 'palasa' torchlight phone from your house. Compare that experience to politicians stealing 'imaginary' billions you only hear about in the news, but that you don't know about.

Violent crime is personal. Too personal. It destroys and traumatises at a personal level. The law is not foolish. That's why the law punishes violent crime more harshly than embezzlement in EVERY civilised country in the world.

I think the jugdement is fair if they are really guilty.
Don't mind the idiots. Anyone who has experienced violent crime like robbery or kidnapping, with all its trauma, pain, misery, and sorrows, would understand why the law is harsher on violent criminals than fraudsters or whatever - worldwide.

I get very disgusted when I see bastards here comparing armed robbers or kidnappers with yahoo boys or corrupt politicians. Anyone who makes such a comparison must be incurably mad.

"Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others."
- Marcus Tullius Cicero

The above quote is one of the most powerful and deepest of all time, and is a principle that I live by.

I know exactly what you're talking about, as my family and I have been at the receiving end many times. On the reverse side, some people that have helped me in this lifetime have my loyalty for this lifetime. Some of them have offended me in other little ways, but no offence would be comparable to the assistance they rendered, so I would always say good about them and basically be loyal to them till the very end.

It's not as if one expects the whole world from you because he helped you. It's just the simple and deep personal acknowledgement that this person helped me very much o, without his or her intervention, maybe my life would have been much worse than it is now, and for that reason he or she deserves my genuine appreciation and goodwill. Very simple. Unfortunately, what you often get in return from the person you helped is scorn, indifference, and in many cases even contempt and hatred. Imagine Wande Coal not even picking Konga's call. I've been down that painful road. It's amazing how terrible some Nigerians are.

What was he expecting? Why did he not develop his craft? Sense of fake entitlements......

You Nigerians have elevated ingratitude and betrayal to a religion. It's incredible. What do you mean by fake entitlement?

It's safe to say that without Konga, there would be no Wande Coal today, and by extension, the Mo' Hits partnership that gave us so much joy wouldn't have existed in the way we know it too. If you think of it, that is an unthinkable thought.

What Konga is saying is that none of the parties that benefitted from his instrumental action of introducing them, especially Wande Coal, has shown him any acknowledgement or gratitude ever since. Is this not a legitimate grievance?

Look at it from this angle, if the same Wande Coal could do a song asking "who you epp", why couldn't he also do a song praising who actually "epped" him? That's the point.

Too bad Nigeria is a country and a culture of users. I've been used like that many times too, even my parents. People just use you to achieve their goals and then discard you without any remorse, without a simple 'thank you'. No wonder more people these days are reluctant to help. Cos after helping you, the snake and demon in you would be unleashed.

Nigeria is a stupid place.

God knows I hate this idiot called Bobrisky, but he was arrested because he had an online spat with one random ashawo actress? Because the actress has a Police Oga sugar daddy, she wants to prove that she can get Bobrisky arrested?

What does it mean to come out as gay"? As a public figure and entertainer as Bobrisky has essentially become, is it not evident that any "claims' he makes can and should be interpreted in the eyes of the law as MAKE BELIEF? As show business? How many musicians glorifying drug dealing and fraud have been arrested as" self acclaimed" drug dealers or fraudsters?

I swear to almighty effing Gord, I will terminate this bastard actress if I were in his shoes. Even if it costs my life.

Useless hell hole of a country where any dirty fool can use state institutions to manage their useless egos.

Another mumu list. It's not by force to make the number up to 10 just so it looks good.

You can easily reduce this to 3:

- Guys who have money (regardless of the source or manifestation)

- Guys who have social capital (looks, swag, charisma, glibness, etc); and

- Guys who have influence of any kind (pastors, lecturers, job givers, protectors, etc.)

Money and influence ALWAYS prevails over all else, with Nigerian females especially. No Nigerian girl would ignore the summon of a potential job giver or Donatustical moneybag just because she prefers to spend time with one yeye handsome or smooth nonentity.

Meanwhile, I attended the RCCG service, two months before the one in the Catholic church....

That is why you're a mugu. And possibly a mugu for life.

Deception is always more 'interesting' and more dramatic than plain reality. Same reason why foolish women always fall for liars and playboys with fake sweet mouth more than honest guys with honest intentions.

Dance your way to financial ruin. The Pentecostal business centres want to entertain and beguile you so that you would empty your pockets into their offering baskets. If you can't see that, then na you sabi.

So it doesn't seem even a tad questionable to you that school dropouts with no clear source of income are able to afford such lavish lifestyle?

That something is questionable doesn't equate to evidence of criminality. We're talking about RULE OF LAW. I don't understand this mob justice mentality.

The EFCC's job is not a tea party or a no-brainer routine of picking low hanging fruits. The EFCC is not a Boys Scout group of amateurish crusaders. It's not simply about arresting people because their wealth seems questionable. The EFCC MUST do the hard work of investigating and ESTABLISHING that the 'questionable" wealth represents proceeds of crime. It's really as simple as that. Otherwise, the suspects can not be punished merely on suspicion. The law says that people are innocent until PROVEN guilty. It's funny how most of you don't really understand the weight and import of this globally accepted legal principle.

There are many questionable things in this world, depending on who is doing the questioning. But no sane society depends on mere suspicion, hearsay, and assumption for its jurisprudence.

The EFCC and Nigerian law enforcement in general is a big joke.

Just look at the stupidity of the watery charges brought against these boys. So, in essence, disgruntled informants told you that these guys are Internet fraudsters, and then you swooped on them without any evidence... Because you're expecting to find evidence only after you have arrested them... and you plan to prosecute them on the strength of their own confessions alone?

Since when did having a laptop, "exotic" houses and cars, and companies with "no fixed address" amount to evidence of criminality? Who are the complainants (victims), what is the concrete evidence of their involvement in fraud? As usual, this kind of case would end up being thrown out by the court for lack of evidence and lack of diligent prosecution. And then we would be back to square one. The media trials and sensationalism would continue with another set of people.

The EFCC has to wake up. Too much incompetence and lack of professionalism in this critical government agency.

Are you kidding?

An oil firm transferred money into a private investment account, only for same to be liquidated into DUMEBI KACHIKWU's account? An account that had nothing to do with the inflow.

Na wa o

Have you asked yourself the simple question: who is DUMEBI Kachikwu? Is Dumebi Kachikwu the same person as Ibe Kachikwu?

Dumebi Kachikwu, Ibe's brother, has been a multimillionaire deal maker for a very long time; long before Ibe became Minister - even long before Buhari dreamt of becoming president. As far back as 2011, I attended a party at his Maitama residence (a house that should be worth almost 1 billion at the time), and saw an array of mega luxurious vehicles.. Bentley, Aston Martin, etc. No be today man. So because his brother is now a minister, he should automatically become a pauper in line with Buhari's so-called "zero tolerant" (sic) for kwarapshun?

In any case, I didn't see anywhere in the report that Ibe Kachikwu was linked to the so-called transfers of money involving Dumebi's companies (which by the way, does not prove that any crime has been committed).

This is clearly the most useless, needless and dumb report I've ever seen. Coming from an office as high as the EFCC Chairman's office, it just shows the stark incompetence and cluelessness of Nigeria's government bureaucracy.

what I'm trying to say is that you give people benefit of doubt to make them happy n loved, when they act well you build confidence in them... at a point u can decide to put your trust in/on them but that's up to you...
Benefit of doubt => Confidence => Trust

Only a certain kind of man puts up with a cheating girlfriend. Sorry to say but it's not the kind of man any man should be proud of.

Nothing wrong with a cheating side chick or Bleep buddy or booty call.. That's part of the no strings attached unwritten rule. But a cheating girlfriend with the heavy commitment burden? Nope. I've been at the forefront of this argument for a very long time now.

Any girl who parrots 'trust' and 'insecure' at the slightest provocation is a slut that you should get rid off immediately... Certainly not a wife or long term material.

I read the stupid comments of fake Nairaland feminists like coco whatever and the rest, and I just laugh. You'd see a dirty girl lament that why should her boyfriend or husband feel "insecure" just because she is traveling on a so-called official trip with her boss - where they would likely stay in the same hotel! Or why a husband should be insecure just because she has close male friends! Just imagine!

Foolish people.
