omofunaab:Is he more stupid than the bastard Buhari you call your president - who doesn't even have a secondary school certificate to boast of? If you see nothing wrong with an unqualified, misogynistic animal like Buhari being the president of a country, then you must be very foolish to raise questions about the competence of Hon JSC Ngwuta to serve as a Supreme Court Justice. Nonsense Afonja hypocrite. |
comshots:The idiotic Zombies would avoid this question and rant nonsense instead. |
brexit:You'll just sit down in your dingy living space and declare a person "guilty" based on your own jaundiced sentiments- motivated by media reports.. Whose job is it to declare a person guilty or otherwise? You or the courts? Pathetic idiots everywhere. |
genearts:Another fool exposes his underbelly. Even if anything incriminating was found in his house, such evidence would be inadmissible in court - for the simple reason that searching his house without a valid search warrant is an illegality. Then again, even if money was found in his house, money in itself, no matter how large, does not constitute an illegality. The only illegality lies in HOW the money was acquired. And it is the EFCC's duty to provide evidence that the money was acquired illegally. Bottom line: No evidence obtained illegally is credible and admissible in court. Get that into your thick, uncivilised, and primitive skull. |
pedestal82:Thank you very much. This is why I am convinced that anybody who supports this action by EFCC and the stupid Access Bank is irredeemably daft. What's the point of holding down an innocent person, nursing mother or not, in the name of contacting the EFCC - when everyone is fully aware of the identity and address of the said individual? Since you are already suspecting her of some kind of involvement in illegality, why not go to her husband's house and arrest her, or invite her to appear before you if her attention is needed? Why must everything about this country begin and end with sensational lawlessness? |
When an attorney general does not know where the burden of proof lies, then we know we are truly in a regime of lawlessness. The following is trite in law, worldwide: In criminal cases, the burden of proving the defendant's guilt is on the prosecution, and they must establish that fact beyond a reasonable doubt. In civil cases, the plaintiff has the burden of proving his case by a preponderance of the evidence. |
PARAHH:so which law empowers any soldier to physically assault a citizen for being "rude"? |
These ragtag yahoo rats can be quite annoying, whether alive or dead. Driving a fancy Mercedes looking like a riff-raff with the usual yahoo yahoo dead tee shirt, sagging jeans, gold chain, and scraggy hairdo appearance. Why not learn some things from those who know and polish up your damn image and persona. Na him sabi. |
Igboid:Lol. Abum onye Igbo karaka. That doesn't change the fact that Olisa Metuh is a coward, and cowardice isn't a tribal attribute as some of us like to believe. |
NgcoboP:That is the whole point of this topic. |
CACAWA:My brother......... It is well with your soul. Drink one Jack Daniel Single Barrel on me, for the road. |
I am a full blooded Igbo man, but the truth is my serum, and I always say my mind. Olisa Metuh was arrested by Buhari's goons and intimidated - to silence him. It worked. After his ordeal, the spineless fool called Olisa Metuh has been silent like the coward he innately is. Femi Fani-Kayode was also arrested and intimidated in the same way (or even worse) , but after his release on bail, he seems even more vocal and militant against the obnoxious Buhari/APC government than he was prior to his arrest. He has been a thorn in Buhari's flesh, such that out of sheer frustration, Buhari's EFCC had to concoct phantom charges bothering on a laughable and ridiculous chicken change of N26 million NAIRA against him. The kind of money that unknown riff raff yahoo boys in Lekki spend on frivolities in a few weeks. What does that indicate? As a certified pro-Jonathan person of Igbo origin, I now realise the limits of tribal sentiments in ascriptions of cowardice and loyalty. |
What makes the reactions of Twitter users more credible or more newsworthy than the reactions of Nairalanders? In other words, why it is fashionable for Nairalanders to react to the views of Twitter users? |
This story is just too disgusting. Some human beings are worse than the devil himself. God forbid. |
Nigeria is a funny place. How does a bank alert implicate someone as a cyber fraudster? Besides, on what basis should a policeman be perusing a passerby's phone and accessing his private and confidential information such as bank messages? To what extent is any evidence of guilt obtained through such unlawful breach of privacy admissible in any court? Why is Nigeria such a lawless place? |
Idiots (i.e. the DSS). Shebi your demented DG called Daura would be seconded as an emergency judge to preside over their arraignment? Let's watch and see what happens. That's what you get when lawless, reckless cattle rearers from rustic communities in the hinterlands take over the reins of government. |
buJu234:It's not difficult to see why she went public. The same cabal she talked about may have blocked her unfettered access to her own husband. Believe it or not, that's how bad things are. |
jakiedudu:So after abolishing the Office of the First Lady, he replaced it with the even more powerful and abnormal Office of the First Nephew (Daura)? Where is the sense in that? Is it not better, safer, and more conventional for a president's wife to wield influence than for some faceless and shadowy figures to hijack the government? |
Fake nonsense. |
Whoever it is that owns nairabet must be incredibly daft. It's not about driving G Wagon up and down and forming Lagos big boy. You would end up like the HiTV dude, Toyin Subair. Success is not a destination, it is a never ending journey that requires effort. For more than a week, your stupid website has not been working for the majority of users. Hundreds and thousands of people have given damming reviews here and elsewhere, yet nothing has been done. What is so difficult in swiftly reverting to the old mobile layout before figuring out the way forward? Why not give users options of old or new? You fully deserve what's coming to you. |
The relentless media trials have become a hallmark of law enforcement under Buhari. What do you want us to do with these unsubstantiated stories leaked to the media by garrulous "secret" police operatives for purposes of entertainment and diverting attention? |
mapet:Which law is that? Specifics please. Which law criminalises the mere possession of money as well as the failure or wilful refusal to explain the source of such money. Also, which law makes it compulsory for a person to "explain" the source of his money held in his own house to law enforcement agencies. And which law empowers law enforcement agencies to charge a person to court for the 'offence' of refusing to explain the source of his wealth. Specific laws with relevant sections/subsections please. Thank you in advance. |
solidman59:I don't know what your academic discipline is, but you people need to have a very basic understanding of political science and philosophy - particularly on the origins of the modern state systems and the rule of law - in order to learn why you should be extremely careful in making some of these rather thoughtless suggestions. Preceding the modern state was the Hobbesian State of Nature in which life was generally "nasty, brutish, and short". In other words, mankind was engulfed in a state of anarchy without established authorities or bodies of law to guide conduct in human societies. To overcome this, citizens had to constitute themselves into modern state systems in which they traded some of their liberties in exchange for a body of laws and a recognised authority to prevent arbitrariness and ensure orderliness. This laid the foundation for what later became known as the rule of law. If the processes of "diplomacy" and the rule of law are too slow as you put is, the only (in)conceivable alternative is arbitrariness and anarchy. I can see you in the market place tomorrow, and because I hold grudges against you, I would declare you a thief and armed robber who attached me the previous night - and shout that passersby should bring fuel and matches. Instantly, you will be burnt to death - regardless of your innocence or guilt. This surgical solution would help me avoid the "too slow processes of diplomacy and rule of law", but does it promote justice and orderliness of society? Think about that. Everything that has advantages also has disadvantages, but society always settles for a system that works. No man should ever be allowed to arrogate to himself absolute powers, regardless of the supposed 'goodness' of his intentions or motives, because absolute power corrupts absolutely IN ALL CASES. The legendary jurist, A.V Dicey already provided the timeless argument against this when he opposed the Divine Rights of Kings... Bottom line: We must be very careful not to invite anarchy upon ourselves because we are impatient to follow due process. A word is enough. |
AntiWailer:Is the mere possession of money an evidence of criminality in itself and by itself? |
Very shameful indeed, even though I'm sure that not a single individual in Buhari's cabinet has even a small atom of shame in their body. I watched the spectacle on Channels TV, and I felt a genuine sense of vicarious embarrassment for Udo Udoma. I happen to like the gentleman, so I would spare him the kind of harsh words I would have used for the even more clueless idiot called Kemi Adeosun. These incompetent characters led by their Cretin-in-Chief Buhari are responsible for the quagmire we're in as a country today. They simply do not have what it takes to make the right policies, devise the right solutions and strategies, and adopt the appropriate measures to maintain the legacy of prosperity and good governance left behind by Goodluck Jonathan. |
Max24:Have you noticed that it is only in Nigeria that these lazy security agencies arrest a person for nonviolent crimes and expect him to give evidence against himself in the name of "interrogation" or "grilling" - for suspected money laundering or corruption. I mean, are you kidding me? So you would arrest me because you found a certain amount of money in my possession, and you have no clue how I got the money, and yet you arrest me and expect me to "confess" how I got the money? Is that what "investigation" means? Very clueless and idiotic set of incompetent buffoons! Why not conduct your own independent investigations, establish that the money you found on me were proceeds of a certain criminal activity, gather your own independent evidence enough to prosecute me, and then arrest me, show me some of this evidence in the hope of making me confess to the crime for a lighter sentence or plea bargain, and then charge me to court IMMEDIATELY! What is all this "grilling" come and go nonsense that our EFCC, DSS, ICPC, and the others are fond of? It's just a crude joke. |
datola:So what do you recommend? That the judiciary and the legislature should be dissolved, and that we should all come together to crown Buhari King of Nigeria with absolute powers? Or we should adopt a totalitarian system of government with Buhari as the Hitler-like tyrant in charge? So that he will have the powers to finally "kill" corruption in every nook and cranny of Nigeria, right? What exactly is your point? |
tinsel:Very sensible observation, my friend. This is what I particularly hate about unthinking, primitive, and arbitrary misuse of power. You barged into their houses and broke down their doors at ungodly hours to arrest them - as if they are dangerous terrorists like Shekau, and now you're saying that you granted then bail barely two days later on "self recognition"... That they would not run away! So did the DSS not know that judges would not run away when the orders were being given to break into their homes by 1.am? These people are jokers. Most importantly, by sensationally breaking into their homes at night and releasing unsubstantiated reports of corruption to the media, you have already UNFAIRLY passed judgment on them and declared them corrupt even before charging them to court. Is that how the law should work? We have a really really long way to go in this country. |
SalomonKane:Incoherent gibberish. Get lost. |
SalomonKane:You have successfully proved that you're indeed bereft of sense. As I predicted, you chose not to talk about Buratai's issue because it is not important. What is important is to harass PDP members, judges, and everyone else that is not in Buhari's good books. That is what fighting corruption is all about. Once a person is in Buhari's cabinet or in the APC, dunderheads like you would consider them immune to corruption, and you would not say a word in criticism against Buhari for not taking action against them. Some of you cretins deserve to be quarantined and kept away from the rest of society, lest you infect others with acute stupidity. |
patriotic9jaboy:I see you have a lot of vigour and exuberance. Why not deploy this same passion in condemning Buhari for covering up the monumental corruption of people like Buratai, Dambazzau, and his Thief of Staff called Abba Kyari who took bribes from MTN to pervert justice? Face this issue squarely, and don't try to divert attention or blab about other irrelevant nonsense. |
SalomonKane:Prove to yourself that you're not stupid by CRITICISING BUHARI FOR NOT TAKING ACTION AGAINST BURATAI. Don't just wave that issue aside as it it's nothing. What have these judges done that is worse than Buratai's obvious corruption? Why is Buratai still the chief of army staff? If you must respond, talk about this and only this, otherwise keep your useless opinions to yourself. |
