optm:you can see the logic. Nigerians are poor but they want doctors in private hospitals to provide them rich man healthcare. If you dont provide it then what happened to Hippocratic oath is the next line. In america you spend about 40k dollars ( roughly 12million) for uncomplicated cs. In nigeria, they beg you to collect 100k and they wont still pay. So, how can i provide a 12million quality of care with 100k just with hippocratic oath. Kuku kill us |
IamaNigerianGuy:. in civilised country most patient in nigeria will be sued for fraud after treatment. which civilised country? i trained all over the world in different field of medicine and i can boldly tell you nigerian doctors are performing miracles. Do your best and you still come back to nairaland to shout baby died for lack of oxygen? How many such threads have they opened on nairaland. Keep expecting doctors to treat you on credit when most patient are fraudulently evading payment after treatment. What do you know about stabilisation? A patient that was unconscious and convulsing that may likely need ventilator and you say they should stabilise.. With what? NOTE...nobody can hold a doctor or hospital criminally negligent for not using his money to treat patient first. In civilised country, insurance pays so you can be held liable. And if the patient dont have insurance you can call ambulance easily and refer the patient at no cost to the doctor. |
1miccza:You are still repeating the same thing. I should save life first with what ? with my hand? is it not money we will use to buy ventilator, oxygen, drugs and co or you think everything is typhoid and malaria that you can always treat with 2k. You dont know about hospitals.....most general hospital in Nigeria are so bad that they commonly reject....1) cases with low chances of survival 2) cases that can tie up their bed for a long time. Wether you believe it or not, it is the reality. so if they assumed wether rightly or wrongly your case is either they can refer you. That doesnt mean there wont be a time they WONT TRUELY LACK SPACE. so they may not have space truely. Moreso, you talk about SAVING LIFE FIRST. That is assuming i can save all lives. What if in the process of saving the life, the patient dies after incurring thousands in cost and the patient refuses to pay WHICH IS THE TREND IN NIGERIA.I should ask the writer of the hippocratic oath to pay me back? |
Flaghouse1:private hospitals are already doing that daily but you wont hear about it here . In our small facility, we have a bad credit of at least 1.5million monthly despite making strong administrative moves to block too much credit so the hospital wont collapse. Take your time to go to hospitals once in a while and help pay off some patient bill. Dont leave it for doctors and hospital workers alone. And while we show empathy, we dont allow emotions to guide our actions. If i know the chances of survival of a patient is abysmally low, i will collect deposit because i am not GOD. While trying to do my best with medical science the patient can die and you wont get your money back. But if the chances of survival is high, i will still go ahead and do my best even if you may not pay but it has limit too. You also need to encourage nigerians to learn how to pay bills after services even if the patient dies....because that is why hospitals demand for deposit and it is killing all of us. But if the hospital knows for sure you will pay afterwards why wont they treat you even if you have no money? |

U think an average Nigeria can afford N250k for medical treatment in a country where economic standard is low. Common on guy reason amm well na You are right. An average nigerian including the doctor cant afford 250k for medical treatment. Where do you now expect the doctor to get 250k credit to treat them when the chances of getting back the money is so slim? |
IamaNigerianGuy:so it is every emergency you can stabilise right? How? After stabilisation then what next? How do they transfer the patient? You must learn how to think beyond the story. If it is an ordinary ear infection you think LASUTH will tell them there was no bed? When they say there is no bed in general hospital in nigeria, most times it is because the case is so critical the chances of survival is slim so they just used the NO BED alibi to push them away. The baby probably developed MENINGITIS and must have been unconscious and probably convulsing by the time they were running around. In children, meningitis is a relatively common sequelae of ear infection. In such a case the baby would require critical care and in most cases, ventilator so it is not about draining ear infection. so if in the end the baby dies while stabilising in your language after the hospital has incurred thousands in cost and the parent refuses to pay and even abuse them, they should just count it as bad debt abi and repeat the cycle tommorrow? it doesnt work. |
1miccza:you are the main problem we have. It is not right for the boy to die for lack of fund neither is it right for the private hospital to use their money to treat the boy. How many patient do you think a private hospital can treat on credit with their own money when it is most likely the patient wont pay once they are well or if the boy eventually dies? so nigerians must stop blaming private hospitals for demanding for their money but rather make govt enact a law that will ensure insurance or some other people pay back money after emergency treatment. Once they tell you there is no space in LASUTH....na lie. It means the case is so critical that chances of survival is slim. Such cases are naturally expensive. If the private hospital accepts them and treat them without deposit, should the patient die, not only will you lose all the money you have spent they will even blame you for not doing enough. They will refuse to ppay forgeting the effort you made in treating a critically ill patient usually requires fund. How much credit can private hospitals accommodate in a month? |
Mynd44:Never mind the guy. In order to prove you can refund but you just didnt want to do so again due to his attitude; can you send me the equivalent of whatever you guys are shouting about in form of skrill or neteler.? I will just come here to give testimony and Shut the guy off for saying you cant even buy his drink. That is insult and you must not allow that go unchallenged. Challenge him by sending me skrill. That is the easier way out this early morning since you people no go allow us buy skrill in peace |

khiaa:And when the marriage is about to break, people like you will gladly advise the woman to quickly pack her loads because marriage is not a do or die affair. By that time it will only remain his mother who will always be there for him. I can never because of this new generation women fight my mum or disrespect her. It has nothing to do with being a man. A man is somebody that can set his priorities right. Until you are married your mother is your first priority. Talk her into accepting your choice....never ever for once disrespect her cos of all these so callled FIN SISTERS |
I rarely contribute to thread such as this cos your mind is made up on what to do. My experience.....most relationship not approved by parent will eventually be doomed. You cant betray your girlfriend but you can betray your mother. If you gp ahead to marry her against your mum wish you have created a life long problem for yourself. If your mum eventually forget your wife wont forget and will make life hellish for your mother. You will constantly find yourself having to settle issues between your mum and your wife. I am not saying she is not your wife but find a way of making your mum agree. If she insist on a NO, my brother....run from that girl. She will get a better you and you will get a better her so no need to marry out of sympathy. Marriage is deep....and no woman, i mean no woman can love you as much as your mother unless she is naturally evil. In these days that women abadons their marriage at the slightest provocation, dont marry a woman your family dont support. |
chatupkay:lol. You are probably a medical student like jarx who thinks every percussion is bullying. Well, there is no blanket NPO after midnight again for surgery. Moreso, he was saying endotracheal intubation can predispose the patient to aspiration. On the contrary the intubation protects the trachea, prevent aspiration and makes serious complication from aspiration unlikely. For your information, we take into consideration the type of surgery, sophistication of anesthesia, part of the body to be operated, health status of the patient into cobsideration before issuing NPO prior to surgery so it is not a death sentence once you eat before surgery like your friend is saying. Ive operated several people who only just eat before requiring an immediate life saving surgery. You can just decompress the stomach with NG tube and intubate and operate. The latest guideline from AMA is this and can br modified expectedly...... .In its preoperative fasting guidelines, the American Society of Anesthesiologists says it's safe for healthy people of all ages who undergo elective surgery to consume: Clear liquids, including water, clear tea, black coffee, carbonated beverages and fruit juice without pulp, up to two hours before surgery Very light meals, like toast and tea with milk, up to six hours before surgery Heavy meals, including fried or fatty foods and meat, up to eight hours before surgery |
jarx:You are suffering from medical school induced grandiose delusion of purulent knowledge. finish medical school first before you start commenting on social media. you will only be displaying your half baked knowledge. No harm intended. |
One major lesson from this foundation......this is going to be a big project for a middle class person with moderate income like myself. The plan is now 9 flats of 2 bedroom each on two floors since we can comfortably boast of at least 12 car spaces. If i am too stretched financially i will stop at one decking to make a 6 flats of 2 bedroom each. But i hope to get the 9 flats done. I am going on a two weeks break to re energise and for appraisal of work done so far for more efficiency in subsequent stages

Foundation...done and dusted. To God be the glory

ceelog:you are right sir. We just cast the pillars at the the four corners. We plan to pour concrete inside the four inches block from the bottom up. Then there will be a central pillar, a beam all over the upper block and cross pillars linking the central pillar and the beam. You know it wasnt time for septic tank if not for filling sand. For the water waste, it is small so we are not putting pillars. We pour concrete and put a beam on top. Thanks for the observation |
keziah123:Yes sir.....i will post the plans.....architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical this week. Tnks |

The part of the foundation that is left which was initially occupied by materials

We are more than half way through with the foundation and german floor. One major hindrance was space....we offloaded materials on part of the wall line so we couldnt dig the entire foundation at once . We had to finish using the materials first before digging the remaining walls . |
The digging of the two septic tank in search of filling sand took some time away from rounding up the foundation. However it is worth it since we no longer need to buy any filling sand whatsoever so at least some money saved. We should start casting the DPC tommorrow.

We are digging two septic tank(10×10) and two water waste in order to get materials for filling instead of buying sand filling . One is fully dug. They are on the second one. We should be able to start sandfilling fully by wednesday when the two septic tanks are ready |
TCD:thanks bro. I actually bought the land without c of o. It is more than one plot in dimensions. I paid 10million for the plot, omonile collected 1.5million which covers omonile receipt, agreement and money for constriction works ( foundation, decking and roofing inclusive) C of o under processing. Awaiting publication. So far ive spent 300k on the c of o, govt fees inclusive...you know the actual amount on omonile receipt is lesser than the actual purchase price. I did the fencing myself. There was a room and palor BQ x 2 on it when i bought it. I converted to a standard 3 bedroom flat BQ which is the building in the background. So far so good on the various cost of securing the land and taking possession |

FortuneTeller:My dear.....you may be living in that your so called USA which you are so proud of...ive been there and more than 20 other countries several times as a tourist. I have cousins that are divourced in your messed up USA. And you know nothing about the law even in your USA until you are taken to court and hire a lawyer. You quoted me first and you can be rest assured i wont miss your ignorant, biased argument if you stop addressing me. Meanwhile, stop parading....i live in USA as a criteria on faceless forum. Its actually childish. Best of luck |
FortuneTeller:you really dont understand. It doesnt work in divorce cases until you are asked to pay child support for a child not yours then it becomes significant because the adultery is now having a direct impact on your future as you have to live with the emotional trauma of paying for a child not yours.....what if you break down psychologically and kill the woman for ruining your life?. The court will now jail you abi? Get a good lawyer. It works even in your USA |
FortuneTeller:you are funny. It is part of the law isnt it? That no one is pursuing it doenst mean it wont be enforced if somebody pursues it. Is it part of tbe law? Yes. So why do you think no one. Even the oklhoma judge first ruled against child support till he found out the law that he must have done tbe DNA within 2yrs. So if tbe same judge found out the law says five year behind bar for infidelity he will enforce it. For the first time in decades somebody was jailed for bigamy in canada two months ago and it made news. People suddenly realised its part of their laws. And mind you, he can pursue a civil case for emotional damage against the woman and claim damages. And madam, i dont need to live in the USA so stop parading that as evidence of you knowing it all. Moreso, the OP is not living in USA anyway. He lives in nigeria so the USA law does not apply here. OJ simpson won the crominal case for death of wife but the family won civil case for wrongful death and claimed millions in damages. So if you think you cant be sued for adultery in usa either in a criminal or civil case, pray you dont meet a troublesome nigger |
