wunmi590: Good day Niralanders,
I was just wondering, from the topic above, do foreigners really fancy Nigerian education to enrol in it?
Throughout my almost 14years as a graduate, I always see school fees for indigenes, non indigenes and foreigners, so this came to my mind again, if people travel all the way from abroad to study in Nigeria? Yes At Obafemi Awolowo University we had a lot of them from Conakry, Mali etc. they also have hostels guaranteed for them. At Moremi hall, it was like two blocks (on the smaller side) of over 50rooms called international floor |

Houseofglam7: 2009 and still awaiting trial ? Damn!!!!! Yes, it’s that bad. There was one herder arrest in 2008, he was walking cows. He was there for almost 8years before his trial started and was acquitted. He returned to Zamfara Abi Kano to see that his family had moved on thinking he was dead. He didn’t know where to start life again, Op’s friend has hope, if possible he should use the time to apply for education, they do paint making, tailoring and even attend NOUN I believe |
Crime › Re: I Want To Visit A Childhood Friend In Prison. Any Tips? by HeyHey(f): 6:30pm On Jun 06, 2023 |
xangerar: It is not a big deal, so do not fret. Just do it. Have a little money in the pocket with you though. Depending on the prison where he is, the warders at the entrance and maybe warders who may have shown him some favour may expect you to "shake body" for them. Other inmates may hail you too and you may want to leave a thing behind. It is a community and as you do in his name, he too will reap when other inmates have their own visitors.
It is a solitary place and I consider that one of what those inmates require are those visits, otherwise they feel even among their colleagues as orphans who no one seek out for from time to time. Just last week, I rebuked the wife of one of my clients for not visiting her husband since he went in. It was the man who told me his wife had stayed away and how that has made him look different from others whose wives and relatives visit usually.
Also know that in this state, your friend is most likely to hear your words of wisdom than when he is out, assuming he does. It is a time of quiet, when those who love, may easily mend the minds of their loved ones. Everything he said plus, do not go with food stuff/provisions - Prisons have specific food they allow, the food must be loose and easily searched throughly. It may be better to get there and ask them to buy it for him if possible by themselves (Warders are very nice) If he is awaiting trial, chances are that his living conditions are very bad (already convicted inmates are treated way better), and there are very many of them (bc police just likes to arrest, transfer to court, then to correctional without proper investigation) . Hence, money will go a long long way for him Finally, if possible, try to show up on his ‘court day’ if you can, once in a while. It does a lot for them when people come. Prisoners whose families are in court are more confident, vocal, hardly bullied by labels and judgmental glances/comments. the ones people don’t come for, are too defeated to speak against police/witnesses lies. |

Hendrixky: I noticed something now
That surgical operation methods of putting to bed by women don increase compared to the old methods of child expulsion
Una dey think wetin I dey think
He be like say all these hospital and doctors dey induced women with drugs to make sure that this women becomes weak from the beginning so that at the time of labour they will have no choice than give in for surgical operation
Don't tell me our women are now naturally weak
Anyway my observation though I noticed, my thinking is that it’s due to profit and experience. Private hospitals may do it for profit as CS costs a lot more than svd (simple xxgina delivery) Government hospitals, especially those housemanship, consultants etc (I no know their name) will do it to gain experience and teach med students. Either ways, it sha add to their profile, “I have don 500 successful CS” |

Lionize: Handelsbanken is ok, just that they ask too many questions. I eventually ignored them after they came back , haven stressed me previously.
But the easiest of them all is SEB. Just visit them, then they will schedule a date for you. Go there on that date and you have an account number. But you can't have swish without personnummer and ID card. Okay, thank you |
Travel › Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by HeyHey(f): 3:59pm On Oct 21, 2022 |
Lionize: For the people with family, it is better you apply for your family. When you are here, applying for them becomes dependent on you having personnummer and having the right size of accommodation for the family (you know what that means). For people outside Stockholm, i learnt it comes more quickly, but it took me about 4 months to get. I came in 28th of October, visited the tax office on 4th of November to apply for it, but it was issued end of February. It took another 3 weeks or 4 so to get my Swedish ID card. But you would want to consider the money in your bank account if it will be able to take care of all according to Swedish Migration requirements. And also, if it is convenient to pay the application fee for each, 2,000kr for your wife, and 1,000kr each for little children (I don't know for grown children).
Again, Resident permit is work permit here, and that is what Sweden issues to students. If you are staying less than 3 months in Sweden, then you will be issued visa, and that does not permit you to work. So, anytime employer asks for your work permit, just show your Resident permit. Many employers won't want to employ you if you don't have tax ID, some do (I started working before I got my tax ID). The same thing with the banks. Some banks will outrightly tell you they can't deal without personnummer or cordination number (like Sedbank and Nordea), but others will consider (Handelsbanken and Danske) with plenty wahala.
But SEB will deal and regularise later. But for SEB, I visited them in November and they gave me an appointment for February 24. I thought I would never go back to them But by february 24th, the other banks were still going back and forth. I had to go back to SEB and they opened the account immediately. Only that I couldn't have a bankID and swish. But as soon as I got my ID card, I went back to them and all was regularised.
But I learnt that all these are easier outside Stockholm. in summary, for the family guy, na now I just dey apply for my family. Apply for them now if you can and would want them to be with you here. Then you can travel alone initially and bring them over whenever it is convenient. I hope this doesn't get deleted. In that period, working without tax ID and bank account, how were you paid? Na cash? These banks , it’s Handelsbanken that’s near me. Is it recommended? |

Phraences: So now your wife is currently unemployed and both of you are now surviving on only your salary. Hmmm! And due to the pregnancy stress the unemployment would likely continue till successful delivery?! Nigerians dey try o!
I will advise she takes this opportunity to learn a skill. Maybe hairdressing including how to dreadlock. So if she doesn't get good job on time she can assist with little bills. She can open a day care from home, to start with. Charging 15k per child (depending on the city) the parents will bring supplies detergent and co. I know a lady ran this 7am-7pm Creche. Many bankers used her, and per day was 500 or so. A month was about 10k then. Start small, while doing that she can start learning other things because once you leave work bc of pregnancy, it’s hard to go back. Food business too, market shopping (since she can manage well) The good thing about these businesses is that the leftover will provide you food and few household items, while preserving your profit in the long run |

Lionize: Wundo, a Ugandan came to check the room I'm renting out today. He lamented of how messed up he is and how the thought of ending his life comes to him sometimes. I interviewed him further and he confirmed he flew to Italy in 2018 from Uganda. Now he is here. He applied for asylum, and, after about one year, they replied and declined his request. Now he has appealed the decision and waiting for the outcome. He told me how tough it has been for him here. He only has secondary education and was doing not too badly while in his home country. He lamented how his people,e specially his father, keep bothering him for money, not knowing what he is passing through.
He raised his visa fee and flight ticket himself without any contribution from his father, yet his father won’t let him be, even after constantly explaining his situation. His siblings are not left out. He said he would have found his way back if his mother is alive because she would have been the only one to understand his plight and welcome him back.
He said he has been so limited in opportunities here because he doesn’t have any valid document, and employers take advantage of it. He works 10hrs or more sometimes presently washing cars, and yet is paid 8,000sek at the end of the month. From that he pays for rent, buys transport pass for the month and feeds, then he has more or less nothing left. Meanwhile sometimes they call him from home demanding as much as 4,000sek to pay fees. He has changed numbers severally to avoid his people. He had thought that once he landed in Europe he would blow overnight. Lol. Life!
I guess he didn’t go to work today because he came here around 10.30am today. He said he has engaged his current employer to increase his pay. And when I asked by how much he said at least 6,000. To tell you his status, he said he can only come and pay for the rent after he has been paid at the end of the month, meaning he doesn’t even have any cash for emergency. I told him, that depends on if the room is still available then because it is on first-come-first-serve basis.
Truly, this guy is being exploited. Because of his immigration status he has limited himself physically and psychologically. I encouraged him to look beyond his present situation and expand his network. There are a lot of jobs he can do without documents and earn cash. This is the story of one out of many. Wetin person dey see abroad. Meanwhile, the president of his country has been the president since the guy was born.
But the truth is, with determination and continuous hard work, and heaven blessing him, he can rise above all these. Where is this located? I’m looking for accommodation close to Ostermalm, lidingo, kungshamara or Lappis area, any information will be deeply appreciated |

Kobojunkie: in a country with over 8 million homeless children, majority of them orphans, you expect us to believe there are practically none of them available for adoption? Abeg talk better...
Yes, a single person can adopt a child in that same Nigeria. Haba, I say most, not all. |
Family › Re: Adoption Or Single Mum Dilemma by HeyHey(f): 3:13pm On Aug 14, 2022 |
Watermelon: People talk about legal adoption in Nigeria as if it is an easy process. It is actually easier and faster, even with several attempts, to have a baby through IVF or insemination than with legal adoption. The average time for completion of legal adoption in Nigeria is 5 - 7 years and one may get nothing at the end. Over 98% of children in Nigerian orphanage homes, with the exception of those with severe disability, were deliberately kept there by their parents or guardians for different reasons pending when they return to pick them up. Most adoptee parents now go through the backdoor of getting from baby factories.
At over 40 years of age, she can try all the above simultaneously. She should have in mind that after 40 years of age the chances of achieving pregnancy with natural insemination (sex/fornication), articial insemination, IVF with her own egg are very very low. Using donor eggs from younger donors can improve her IVF chances. Abi oo, I have been involved in this adoption waka with my aunt who had two failed IV, most kids weren’t up for adoption. There was always a story “the mother died and the father works offshore, the mother ran mad etc”. Plus can a Single person adopt a child in Nigeria?? |

Family › Re: Who Should Have The Children Custody.. by HeyHey(f): 9:55am On Aug 09, 2022 |
The age and gender of the kids will determine. If they are small less than 10, females, disabled. They will likely go to the mother.
Another factor is who are they currently with?, and does either spouse have a character/habit that may be harmful to children |
