Husbandmany: Good morning friends, how is life in this current economic quagmire? God will help us through by faith with hardworking. I have this issue of not always wanting to say '' I love u'' to my wife, which I do intentional because I feel marriage is whot more than saying I love you. I meet all house needs by God help. One of the reasons I don't always want to say I love you to her is because I feel, she doesn't need to beg for me to love her, rather she should earn the love by her actions. She is threatening that if I can't love her, I should initial divorce, that she can't continue for me not wanting to express love to her. We are married for close to 10 years with a child. Matured advise needed. Note: I'm not afraid of divorce though, my child is my concerns. Omo! What did your wife do to deserve your kind of man bayi? I feel sorry for her. 2 Likes |
Family / Re: Helping Today's Kids Understand The Reality Of Life PART 1 by hify9935(f): 9:06pm On Aug 30, 2023 |
BennyDGreat: By Ebenezer Mabinuola
Many parents while growing up experienced poverty on many levels. Some had no shoes, some others who were more fortunate had bad shoes. Having to walk long distance to school, wearing rag-like clothes, hawking to support the family, defecating in the bush/ open spaces, having to survive on rationed food and fighting for sleeping space at night....the stories are endless.
Today, these folks have become successful. They would never want their kids to suffer.
"I suffered a lot while growing up, I don't want my kids to suffer." Is a very common statement from these set of people.
They raise the standard for their kids, providing them with access to good food, clothing, shelter, vacation abroad, quality healthcare, good allowance and many other privileges. After all, they are kids of successful people.
As good as this is, if not balanced, could make the parents go extreme in a bid to protecting their kids from poverty that bedeviled them while growing up. These kids then turn out unable to face life as they become overly dependent on their parents.
Here are some areas to consider when trying to help children understand life's harsh reality:
1. Teach them to know God-Many parents grew up under strict environment that showed them the way to follow concerning faith. The strict foundation they had gave them solid leverage to grow in their faith when they encountered challenges in life. Today, parents can be non-challant about passing down faith and teachings that helped them win in life. The responsibility is on them to hand down the pattern that worked for them to their kids.
2. Teach them hardwork- It's not uncommon to see parents employ maids and assistants at home to help out with house chores. While this may be helpful in reducing the stress of the parents, they must raise their kids to take care of the home by instructing them to assist in specific areas as they begin to grow. This hardwork must also be extended to their school as parents must follow up their wards academic performance and ask them areas of difficulty in a bid to help them out.
3. Teach them respect for elders- Children of today can be very disrespectful to elders. Some enter into places and refuse to greet elderly folks. It's visible the way some talk to their parents rudely. Some parents even frown when an elderly person corrects their children outside for wrong behaviour. Nowadays, you see young folks insulting elderly people on social media. A total show of shame! Parents need to do better because while many of them were going up, they were held accountable by the community and they had to respect every elderly person they come in contact with.
4. Teach them to love- Love is unconditional. Love doesn't run away in time of challenges. Love is for all seasons, either good or bad. Love is 100% loyalty. Parents must teach their children what love entails by being examples to follow in this regard.
5. Teach them to be kind- Parents must teach their kids to show empathy to the plight of others. They must train them how that not everyone may be as fortunate as they are and how to be kind to others without bringing harm to themselves.
6. Train them to be security conscious- Situational awareness is a very important skill everyone needs. When you are in dangerous positions, how do you react? Parents must train kids basic security lessons such as knowing how to lock the doors, avoiding show-offs, not leaving their food with strangers, not following strangers, how to identify if someone has intention to harm them etc....
7. Teach them they won't always have their way- Parents must teach their kids how the world doesn't revolve around them. Imagine a 13 year old boy wanting the latest iPhone gadget and accessories because his classmate has one. Parents need to deny their children things they know could expose them to 18+ content. That means parents must decide when the children sleep, what type of shows they can watch on TV and correct them in love when they go wrong. Setting boundaries for the kids is a great way to teach them contentment.
8. Parents must mete out appropriate disciplinary actions: children are always full of energy and have tendency to get their parents angry, doing the wrong things.
It's the responsibility of parents to give take the necessary disciplinary measure against kids behaviour. They owe the society that responsibility so they don't end up raising violent, reckless kids with no self-control.
9. Parents must teach their kids to be responsible- Children who are not trained to be responsible adults end up becoming thieves, kidnappers, drug addicts, prostitutes, fraudsters, rapists, 18+ actors or actresses, gambling addicts, terrorists etc with violent tendencies.
10. Parents must teach their kids to be careful with words - Parents must teach their kids to be careful when uttering words. They must teach them to know that words cannot be retrieved once spoken. They must continuously help their kids edit the words they utter and make corrections where necessary.
Some other areas parents need to train their kids: Teach them Savings and Investment, teach them to be bold, teach them to know what they want, teach them to be Time- conscious, teach them to value relationships, teach them to hygiene...etc...which will be discussed in PART 2.
What stood out for you in this PART 1? Would love to hear from you...

izonborn098: Men are born cheaters' know this and have peace of mind... The only reason many men don't cheat is because of the respect their wives has for them and they also respect them too..... Your good in bed can't keep a man.... Speak for yourself uncle! All men CANNOT be cheaters. People are different, and they make their own choices. Trust and respect matter in relationships. Saying fear or respect is the only reason men don't cheat ignores the importance of real feelings and values. Also, it's not right to judge someone based only on how good they are in bed. Every person deserves respect and understanding in relationships. This statement has been thrown into the thrash can, thank you for your understanding. 1 Like |
Business / Re: Motorist Calls Out Fuel Attendants For Allegedly 'scamming' Customers (video) by hify9935(f): 8:53pm On Aug 30, 2023 |
Shoodboi: I once worked as an attendant at a filling station. What this man is saying is impossible...
While there's usually fuel in the hose, that fuel is not your fuel. The mouth of the hose (the part that enters your car) has a small machine that calculates how much fuel is sold. The meter (the screen that calculates the price and liters sold) begins counting the moment fuel leaves the mouth of the hose and goes into your car. Not when fuel enters the hose.
In this case, this filling station appears to be out of fuel and are trying to pump out whatever remains in the underground tanks and hose into the keg. And you can see that they can't even fill a small keg.
With that said, I should add that filling stations can't sell air either. Instead, what they do is that they adjust their meter to reduce the amount of fuel sold. So, they can adjust the meter to sell 0.8 liters for every one liter displayed on the meter.
And this scam is never performed by the attendants because they do not have access to the configuration of the machine. Only the manager (sometimes with the instructions of the filling station owner) can do it.
The highest an attendant can do is to sell less fuel than you request, say sell 1000 naira fuel when you ask for 2000 naira, but you can quickly catch this scam by looking at the meter and ensuring the price and amount begin at 0 and reads up to whatever price or liter you ask for.
As for the readjustment done by the managers and filling station owner, the only way to catch them is to buy it in jerrycan. But once you see your fuel is not up to what you requested, confront the manager (not the attendant) and threaten to report them to DPR.
If the manager is doing it without the knowledge of the filling station owner, there's a high likelihood he'll give you some fuel to calm you down🤣🤣🤣 If he's doing it with the knowledge of the owner, he'll likely offer you a refund.
Thanks for this information! Sadly, this scam is being normalized and there’s little or nothing anyone can do about it. 2 Likes |
Crime / Re: I Killed My Father Because Of My 70 Thousand Naira With Him, Suspect Confesses by hify9935(f): 8:40pm On Aug 30, 2023 |
It's really sad to hear that a man killed his own father over 70k! This shows how things can get really bad when people let their emotions take control.
This situation tells us that we need to find better ways to deal with conflicts, and that life is too valuable to be lost over disagreements. Sad to know that while I’m still missing my dad after his death, someone could do this to his own father without thinking twice! This life isn’t fair after all. |
