Now Obasanjo a Southerner won the election and was heavily voted for by the Northerners right? Also, Jonathan was also voted for and was elected in 2011, now tell me if he only won the election by votes from the South? NB: in all these elections, Buhari a core northerner was also in contention but never got the chance even with the love support from the North? My opinion on the 2015 election which brought in Buhari, Nigerians were not happy with the way Jonathan and his party run the affairs of the government and in turn, voted him out during the elections. Now Buhari didn't just win by votes from the North even though majority of the votes came in from there. The Southerners in their numbers voted him because of the believe that he will be the 'messiah' .

Akwaibomdaily: HENSEK POURS ENCOMIUMS ON GOV EMMANUEL
As part of activities to celebrate Akwa Ibom State's 35th anniversary, all is now set for the inauguration of the 9.5 kilometer, 10-lane Idongesit Nkanga Avenue and Clement Isong Avenue in Uyo by former Vice President and PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
A government statement from the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, and Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, indicates that the commissioning exercise takes place by 5pm today at the Oron Road Water fountain roundabout of the project.
The Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services, Engineer Uwem Okoko on Wednesday, conducted Journalists who visited the road project alongside some media aides of the Governor around the project.
Engr. Uwem Okoko explained that the road is made up of more than 5km drainage tunnel and 10lane, 9.5 km dual carriage.
“The tunnel is all the way from Ifa to Ibesikpo and underneath, 7m deep is a flood control tunnel, that is why before you used to see flood at the Timber market road but you can’t see the flood at Ifa basin, His Excellency, awarded this contract not only to de-flood ring road three but also neighbouring communities".
While thanking Governor Udom Emmanuel for the confidence reposed in Hensek Integrated Services as the contractor to deliver the projects, Engr. Uwem Okoko revealed, that “this road is designed to last a lifetime”.
“The concept of the median was designed by His Excellency , ‘Engineer’ Udom Emmanuel when he came in 2021 for a road inspection, he said the median is wide and we can turn it into a jogging lane for people and have protection, we incorporated it into the design "
On the Uyo-Airport expansion project, he said a flood control tunnel is currently being built that will control floods and ensure that water is properly extracted to the Ibesikpo Asutan discharge outfall.
“If you look at Shelter Afrique you will find out that the Governor has responded to the yearnings of Mbiabong and people living on Oron Road because of the perennial flooding, he has also awarded a project that will de-flood Oron road and take it across Shelter Afrique to Ibesikpo Outfall, the underground flood control project is ongoing and by the end of October we believe that we would have controlled flooding at Shelter Afrique axis ".

Family seeks justice as soldiers reportedly kill their daughter while chasing a car carrying illicit product in Rivers State
A 25-year-old lady, Damietta Green, has passed on after she was hit by a bullet suspected to have been fired by a soldier in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It was gathered that the unfortunate incident happened on Tuesday, September 6, along Harbour Road area of Port Harcourt. The Nation reports that soldiers who are posted on guard duty at the Nigeria Correctional Centre (Prison) facility, usually mount roadblocks around the area to extœrt money from transporters of illegal refined petroleum product (kpofire). Various sources told The Nation that the madness was triggered when a Toyota Camry car suspected to be conveying the illicit product refused to stop.
The soldier pursued the car and jumped on the bonnet. When the car refused to stop, he started shooting indiscriminately. “There were many vehicles trapped in the gridlock caused by the checkpoint and the victim was in one of those vehicles, a Lexus 330 salon car,” a source said. It was learnt that the errant driver of the Toyota Camry escaped the scene unhurt, but the vehicle was towed to the nearby Central Police Station.
Other passengers in the car told The Nation at UPTH that they were going home from a sales meeting when the driver of the Lexus car offered them a ride. “We know him (driver) in Town (a suburb of the city) and he offered us a ride home. We were at the checkpoint when the shooting started,” one of the victim’s friends said. Emmanuel Oluwaseun, who offered the lady the ride, confirmed the story. He said the bullets went through the back passenger door and lodged into the back of the victim, who sat at the back of the car with another passenger.
“In the confusion, she was shouting that she had been shot, but we couldn’t do anything because the soldier was just shooting. When the chaos eased, we rushed her to the Central Police Station. “The medical personnel said the matter was beyond them. They referred us to BMH (Braithwaite Memorial Hospital) where she was given some treatment and referred to UPTH where she died.” he said.

treesun: Following the decision of Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp to pull out of the campaign council of the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President has said that he cannot force Dr Iyorchia Ayu to resign as the party National Chairman.
Daily Independent had earlier reported that the group loyal to Rivers State Governor after a marathon meeting held in Wike’s residence in Port-Harcourt resolved to pull out of Atiku’s campaign if Ayu do not resign as the party chair.
Reacting to the development, Atiku in a statement titled, “On the calls for the resignation or removal from office of our national chairman” said that Senator Ayu can resign from office on a personal ground, not by anyone’s decision..
He said, “On the calls for the resignation or removal from office of our national chairman, however, I must reiterate what I have said severally in public and in private; the decision for Dr Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office is personal to Dr Ayu and, neither I nor anyone else can make that decision for him.”
