Covenant University graduates are good, perharps great, I don't debate that. But don't overstretch it by saying "CU graduates are always on point". That's definitely not true. No University (certainly not CU) could has all its graduates "always on point".

CU's greatness would speak for itself as time goes on,The need to always polish the place as "Heaven on Earth" by "All words possible" may do it more harm than good.

You ask why Private University graduates can afford to opt for unpaid Internships and public school graduates generally don't? I am quite sure you know the answer to that question yourself.

You ask PU students to wake up but aren't CU students taught by 'Public University graduates'? or did they employ all their lecturers from abroad or are they CU graduates?

Some issues are more complex than you realize.

Cheers.
You would be surprised to know a very large chunk of CU lecturers did graduate from CU either at the Undergraduate or PG levels...

METHODOLOGY-Stutern conducted a study of Nigerian graduates outlook.A total of 5,219 Nigerian graduates who graduated within the last 5 years (2013-2017) completed the survey. The data collection lasted from February 8 to may 15 2018.The survey was hosted using Google forms and stutern recruited respondents via email and social media sites. To account for for graduates in marginalized locations, tracking officers from BudgiTCo conducted the offline version in 5 States (Edo,Enugu,Ibadan,Imo and Kaduna state).

Other partners in collaboration of the report include BudgiTCo and Jobberman
Sample size is small sha. But i'm very confident that any thorough study would still place CU on top.
I'm also at variance with the research methodology. Whenever you want to do an employability survey, it is better to sample Organizations rather than individuals. If you sampled 5,000 HR managers it could be accepted than 5,000 graduates. If you must sample graduates then be ready to sample at least 150,000 graduates x years being considered. After which you would standardize the result according to the graduating class sizes of each university - which would be an incredibly difficult work to do because it would require collecting massive amounts of data. But not impossible.

Anyway kudos to the Stutern team, at least your sample sizes are getting bigger every year. The participation of Jobberman and BudgIt also lends much credibility to the study.
God bless Covenant university!

This is good. Christians in unanimity can decide 2019 elections. This is the first time two muslims from major parties would run against each other? If so, it affords christians the opportunity to pick a candidate that represents our interest.

seunmsg:
Atiku is a very strong candidate no doubt but he will be defeated. I am 100% certain. The choice of running mate will be his albatross. If he runs with an Igbo man, south west will support Buhari/Osinbajo ticket. If he runs with a south south person, the south east will likely not vote enmass for him and south west will still vote APC. If he runs with a Yoruba man, south east won't support him and south south will likely go the way of APC. Buhari will win north west and north east easily with the exception of Adamawa and Taraba. North central would be divided with APC winning kogi, Nassarawa and Niger while Atiku wins Benue and plateau. Kwara is too close to call at the moment.

Overall, Buhari wins with massive support from South west and North west.
Your analysis is wrong. Do not underestimate the hatred of S/East for Buhari.
If Atiku chooses a credible technocrat from South South(Ngozi Iweala) from a popular church like Winners then Atiku will cruise to victory. South West is not so hungry for presidential slot right now so it may be 60:40 in favour of buhari. Atiku would easily take 90% North East, 70% of North Central, 10% of North West, 85% of South East and 95% of South South.

You can pray on whatever position you desire. However, if you have an urge to kneel during certain prayers, do not resist such urge. Certain encounters would leave you no choice than to kneel. I rarely kneel during long prayers because of the pain i rather pace up and about, i find that more effective.
Education › Re: University Of Ibadan To Adopt Alternative Funding And Reduce Dependency On FG by HigherEd(op): 7:25pm On Oct 06, 2018
Honestly, the University of Ibadan should be placed on special funding. The govt is just stupid. With mediocre funding the University of Ibadan eclipsed University of Ghana - A flagship university in Ghana in Times 2019 world ranking.
I know scholars in UI that are as highly ranked as those in Ivy leagues e.g Gureje Oye

But since politics and tribalism won't let us be great, then a better approach would be to select 6 universities from six geopolitical zones in Nigeria; UI, Uniport, UNN, UniMaid, ABU, UniIlorin and givethem N50 Billion each in annual funding. This is enough to push each of them(if serious) to the top 500 universities in the world. It would bring back a lot of Nigerian scholars, increase research output and relevance, improve the quality of lecturers being supplied to other universities and stop the need for paying overcharged millions to western universities in the name of scholarships.
Education › University Of Ibadan To Adopt Alternative Funding And Reduce Dependency On FG by HigherEd(op): 7:07pm On Oct 06, 2018
Upgrades PG school to College

As the nation’s premier university, the University of Ibadan begins the official programme to celebrate the 70th anniversary; the management on Saturday said arrangements have been concluded to adopting a culture of two-pronged revenue generation drive.

The management said the strategy was to reduce the institutions dependency on government funding and also achieve prudent management of available resources.

Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Idowu Olayinka made the disclosure while addressing an International Press Conference to herald the activities lined up for the celebration.

The activities which officially begins on October 5th with a lecture would run through to November 17, 2018.

Prof Olayinka who noted that the 70-year-old would need as much as N30billion annually to achieve its goal of attaining world class standard however said, the institution is already restrategising to open up diverse streams of income to complement what it gets from the Federal Government.

He also stated that the institution’s council has approved the conversion of its Post Graduate School to Post Graduate College, saying, “with this development, the college will now be headed by a provost who will be assisted by two deputy provosts and two registrars.”

Olayinka said, “We are exploring ways that UI can make itself less dependent on government funding. We are adopting a two-pronged approach involving a resource mobilization plan and prudent management of the available resources.

“Elements of these include a regular income from commercial and increasing the endowment fund, research grants and the strategic funds that UI has available to use as it deems fit, to direct our course through these troubles and difficult times and beyond.

“In particular, we are partnering with industry, government and other stakeholders; strengthen our Consultancy services, encourage grantsmanship, mobilize funds from willing individuals and organisations including alumni, friends and the general public, consolidate the business established by the University such as UI Microfinance bank, UI ventures, UI water, Animal Production Venture, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Sawmilling which also provide training in entrepreneurship for students.

“The UI publishing House, UI endowment fund and the UI bookshop will be re-organised to operate optimally with definite targets. We encourage departments to engage in business sprinted consultancies and support collaboration with industry.

“Following approval by the Council of the University, a holding company Platinum UI Commercial Enterprises limited is being registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under which umbrella all the commercial-oriented outfits in the university will operate.

“For us to be a world class university, we need to invest heavily in physical and infrastructural facilities, to address the acute shortage of office spaces for staff, classrooms and laboratories.

“Presently the institution’s subvention is about N13b, which is a far cry from what is needed to maintain the institution. Out of this N13b, salaries are paid, electricity bills which run to millions of naira is paid, water and healthcare are provided among other things.

“If the premier university is properly funded, within a shortest possible time, it would be among the top five in Africa and top 100 in the world.”

Well i heard of it two years ago when they were planning it. The idea is to become a research intensive institution. I disagree a little though, they should instead increase pg enrollment without decreasing ug size. You know they only admit 1500/ students/yr at undergraduate level and they are planning to reduce it.

Although the issue is, it seems the church does not want the campus population to exceed 10,000 so they are squeezing everything into that 10,000...

kidaby:
All you have said is correct. But how about we look at it from another angle. The USA system works but it is not perfect because it is fully capitalist in nature. Most families cannot afford to send their children to college making people opt for student loans that they will most likely pay till they die. However, In countries where the government is more involved in the education sector, they will be able to regulate the excesses of a fully profit driven educational enterprise. This would help the masses more than the USA system. And for a developing country like Nigeria, it is easy to exclude a majority of the masses from getting quality education.

As it is already, university education is too expensive for a lot of people. State governments are owing salaries not to talk of providing sponsorship for enough of their indigenes to afford such exorbitant fees. There is a high unemployment rate, so sorry, banks won't be loaning you money to go to school. The rich and influential would most likely use any financial aid opportunities for their own children and families (due to our corrupt system). We already have the highest number of out of school children in Africa. Even if you manage to finish secondary school, you'll probably never be able to afford university education. Which keeps you poor and economically challenged and favors the already rich. Same poor person will not be able to afford university for his/her children. And the cycle of poverty continues.
Wow! very valid points...
