PoliticsGovernor Akeredolu, Jegede May Lose APC, PDP Guber Tickets In 2020 by Honbright(op): 10:01am On Jan 23, 2020
....Duo may use AA’s joint ticket

....Agagu’s men settle for Eddy Olafeso

.....Tinubu, Oshiomole settle for Deputy

  Governor Agboola

....Agboola moves out of Govt House

....Fayemi, El- Rufai back Akeredolu

All seem not well in the politics of  Ondo state within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as there have been high level political intrigues over the 2020 Governorship ambition.

Also, in the Peoples Democratic Party, there are several reports of internal crisis which may force leaders of the party to want to back a popular candidate in the Southern Senatorial Zone of the state.

The political upheaval in the APC is not devoid of internal strife, especially in the government circle as there are rumours that the Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, is allegedly interested in the Governorship position comes 2020, and he may contest the primaries with his boss, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

This internal crisis between Akeredolu and Agboola has forced the deputy governor to be avoiding public functions especially ones where

his estranged boss will be present. The New Year prayer organized by the governor was a critical example as Agboola  was unreasonably absent.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord have also revealed that Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi has packed out of the Government House at Alagbaka, Akure and he is now coming to work from his private residence at Ijapo in the same Akure town.

The rumour of Agboola’s interest in the exalted position is becoming obvious as it is the talk of the town across the 18 Local government areas of the even at the market places.

This may have been giving the governor sleepless nights as many people believe that if things are not checked, the Deputy Governor who they know to be a philanthropist and a seasoned politician of note will definitely have an upper hand over the Governor at the primaries as he knows how to play his way out.

Reports also have it that APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has teamed up with the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, to back Agboola with necessary funds which he needs to wrestle the APC governorship ticket with Akeredolu whose sin is that he did not leave the administration of Ondo state in the hands of godfathers.

Another report says that Tinubu will back his political godson, Segun Abraham, in 2020 but our investigation revealed that the former Lagos

state governor had since informed Abraham that he would not support him again over a report that the former APC aspirant mismanaged several hundreds of million of Naira which Tinubu gave him to slug it out with Akeredolu during the 2016 APC governorship primaries.

Although, The Deputy Governor, had through media handlers denied the rumour in recent times, saying that he has no such ambition. They added that those who are carrying the rumour are just being mischievous, latest happenings between him and the governor seriously suggests that he is enjoying the backing of some power brokers to tackle his boss at the poll.

However, a source within the APC who considers himself as aborigine noted that the recent happening at the government circle is giving him a concern, saying that the relationship between Governor Akeredolu and his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi is not cordial at all.

The source alleged that the recent protest by the Militants from the riverside area of the state at the Governor's office was alleged to have been instigated by the Deputy Governor to score a point that the money promised them was not released to him by the Governor after they have surrendered their arms and ammunitions.

Nigerian Concord also gathered that the recent protest by members of the House of Assembly over the issue of snake at the Chamber of the House was the hand work of the third forces who are hell bent to make the state ungovernable for the Governor. But the reaction of Mr.Governor doused the dust raised by the protest as the Speaker, Hon. Oleyelogun is afraid to lose his exalted position.

However, as the crisis is ranging on, a pressure group from the Southern Senatorial District of the state, known as Coastal Liberation Movement (CLM), with a vision that power must move to the South in 2020 visited Alhaji Alli Olanusi (former Deputy Governor of Ondo

State) and a Board Member of APC at his residence in Akure to solicit for his support to their agitations.

A source said "Baba did not only welcome us warmly, he also identified with our mission and vision. However, he advised us to go back home and narrow our search down to the particular local government in the South that should be genuinely and realistically considered.

"He openly agreed with us that" it's the turn of the South since the incumbent governor has not done well enough to warrant his second term in office ", the source added.

Another source told Nigerian Concord that even if Akeredolu is smart enough to pacify the Deputy Governor not to run against him, (which the source doubts), the main crisis which is that of some elders and leaders of the party who are vigorously working against the second term of the governor will surely consume him.

With the present calculation, Agboola who is a strong politician not only in the riverside area of the state, but across the 18 Local governments is also the one leading "Agagu Boys" in the present administration of Governor Akeredolu.

It was reliably gathered that the Akeredolu administration is dominated by these "Agagu Boys" which the governor has to contend with in his bid to secure the second term ticket of the APC.

"Like I told you, Agboola has been able to silent Hon Kingsley Kuku boys and he is having upper hands in Ese Odo Local government area of the state", the source stressed.

Also, one should not forget the political might of Chief Olusola Oke (SAN), another force to be reckoned with especially now that he has lost his chance of being made the NDDC Boss by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reports have it that Oke, a seasoned politician, too has been Working underground with his own group across the 18 Local governments who are

all out wooing more supporters so that he can have an edge over Governor Akeredolu at the APC primaries.

Another force is Barrister Isaac Kekemeke, a former state chairman of the APC who was sent out of office by the governor’s force, who has declared openly his intention to contest the Governorship position.

Kekemeke is really moving fast in consulting leaders of the party about his intention to run for the juice position in the state. Some of his campaign points are that the governor has failed to provide the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

According to the source, the move recently by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and some leaders of the party to reconcile the aggrieved people and Governor Akeredolu did not work because Akeredolu did not fulfill his own part of the agreement reached at the meeting, and this has forced the APC national leader to endorse Agboola.

“Honestly, we are yet to see crisis. Crisis is coming. If Aketi is forced on us, mass decamping of members is imminent as leadership of some parties has reached out to majority of us", the source opined.

With the crisis, anxiety has also gripped some members who are hanging on the balance as they are confused on which way to follow, whether to go in the way of the governor or to follow the aggrieved leaders. But

some of them are of the opinion that another meeting should be called between the warring members to resolve the crisis once and for all since previous resolution had been lost in this fresh intra-party wrangling. They opined that as a ruling party, all crises within the party should be resolved so that Ondo state can move forward with a unity of purpose that is a necessity for the flourishing of peace and development.

Although, the storms are gathering as the opposition parties mostly especially PDP is thinking of gaining from the crisis by drawing as many as possible of the aggrieved members of the APC who have fallen out with the party.

With the look of things in the state right now, Nigerian Concord gathered that a possible switch to other parties by many APC stalwarts from both side could already be at the advanced stage. Even with the yet-to be resolved lingering crisis between the Governor and his Deputy, the leadership crisis in APC in the state has added to the environment of political uncertainty in the state.

Though, the governor still enjoys support of Mr. President who had appointed his preferred choice, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, as a minister of the Federal Republic.

But many observers in the state believe that Akeredolu should find a more creative way of managing the crisis. Needless to say that the field is increasingly getting rough, what Ondo state needs now is infrastructure development and not crisis.

In the PDP, some people considered to be remnants of the structure which a former governor of the state, Dr. Segun Agagu (Late) left behind have reportedly given their endorsement to a Honourable Eddy Olafeso who is from the South.

However, there are agitations that the governorship must be zoned to Akure Division but strong leaders of the party have dismissed this, saying that there is no where it was written in the party’s constitution that power must shift to any particular zone or division.

As a result of this, the top contender in the PDP who is from Akure, Barrister Eyitayo Jegede, if not given the party’s ticket, may move to the Action Alliance where he may become the running mate to Governor Akeredolu who may not be given the APC ticket as well.

On Aketi/Jegede joint ticket under the Action Alliance, political analysts opined that it is the best decision as the governor will be able to use his power of incumbency to win over 80% of the total votes from his zone, Ondo North, while Jegede, as a result of his goodwill, popularity and influence from the immediate past governor of the state, Segun Mimiko, will get over 90% of the total votes in the Ondo Central which has Akure South and Nort and Ondo East and West.

If the duo team up under the AA’s ticket, the Ondo South’s results will just be an added value as more than eight other parties in the state will feature candidates who are from the Southern Zone.

EducationNigerian Institute Of Journalism Lecturer Sacked As Assaulted Student Cries by Honbright(op): 7:03am On Jan 22, 2020
Tene John, a Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) lecturer has been sacked by the institution's management for sexually assaulting one of his students Ms Anjola Ogunyemi.

The student disclosed that she was sexually assaulted while alone with Mr Tene in his office. Ogunyemi said the randy lecturer who tried to forcefully have sexual intercourse with her, freed her after she promised to allow him have his way next time.

Though the lecturer denied the allegation, the Registrar of the institution confirmed he was sacked after being subjected to a probe.

A statement released on Monday January 20 read;
“Our attention has been drawn to a post on the social media, by one of our students, Ms Anjola Ogunyemi in National Diploma One, alleging sexual harassment against one of our part-time lecturers, Mr Tene John.

“Ms Ogunyemi’s petition to the school on the alleged sexual harassment was received on December 19, 2019 – the day of our vacation. And the Provost called her on that same day to acknowledge the receipt of her petition, assuring her that the matter will be looked into appropriately.

“The institution, thereafter, set up a panel of three lecturers: two females and a male. The panel sat and took evidence from the two parties and witnesses concerned. On Friday, January 17, 2020 – the last day of its sitting, the accused and the accuser were made to confront each other at the panel.

“It was difficult for the panel to establish concretely a case of sexual harassment in its report because there were glaring contradictions in the testimonies of the two parties and witnesses.

“We wish to place on record that Ms Ogunyemi walked out on the panel and ran to the social media to tell her story on the day the panel’s final sitting.

“In view of our institution’s zero tolerance for improper conduct on the part of the staff and students, and in light of the interest the matter has generated, the following decisions have been taken: the lecturer concerned, Mr Tene, who has been on our faculty for over a decade has been relieved of his appointment, we thank him for his services and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

PoliticsCourt Restrains El-Rufai From Demolishing Abacha's Hotel In Kaduna by Honbright(op): 6:47am On Jan 22, 2020
A Kaduna State High Court on Tuesday restrained Governor Nasir El-Rufai and agencies of the state from further demolishing and taking over Durbar Hotel Plc located along the Muhammadu Buhari Way in Kaduna, the state capital.

The hotel is said to belong to the family of the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.

The hotel has been under litigation between the Federal Government and the family of the late Head of the State since 2001.

The Abacha family was said to have won the case both at the lower and the appellate courts. It is now before the Supreme Court.

However, officials of the state, led by the Kaduna State Urban and Property Development Agency, on Wednesday night demolished the hotel.

Meanwhile, the restraining order was based on an ex parte motion brought before the court by the hotel’s management through the lawyer to the Abacha family, Mr Reuben Atabor, praying the court for an order of interim injunction restraining el-Rufai and agencies of the state government from demolishing, taking over, or tampering with the property.

The hotel management, in the application, also sought an interim injunction restraining el-Rufai and agencies of the state government from further trespassing on the property pending the determination of the motion on notice.

Consequently, Justice Hanatu Balogun of the state high court, upon hearing the ex parte motion, granted the order.

“I grant an order restraining the defendants from taking over the property in issue and from further tampering with same or trespassing on same or developing or assigning same pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice,” she stated in the order.

The case was then adjourned till February 4.

PoliticsFuel Subsidy May Rise As Marketers Demand Higher Margins by Honbright(op): 6:41am On Jan 22, 2020
The Federal Government may have to spend more on petrol subsidy as oil marketers in the country have called on the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency to increase margins on the product now to prevent the a collapse of the nation’s fuel distribution system.

According to the petrol pricing template of the PPPRA, margins for retailers and dealers are N6 and N 2.36 per litre while transporters’ allowance is N 3. 36 per litre.

Top officials of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria told PUNCH correspondent in separate interviews that a review of the margins was overdue.

The Chief Executive Officer and Executive Secretary, MOMAN , Mr Clement Isong , said the current margins were limiting marketers’ ability to invest in new trucks and the upgrade of filling stations.

He said, “ We need the PPPRA to look at our margins now. It is taking too long and our members are declaring losses . It can’ t last longer than this . It has been too long.

“ Increased margin today is not a luxury ; it is a necessity , otherwise your fuel distribution system will collapse . It is collapsing already. ”

He said the margins could be increased without causing any change in the pump price of petrol.

Isong said, “ Currently , the price is N145 – which means that the government is funding the difference between the expected open market price ( about N 182 ) and the N145.

“ If our margins are increased , it just means that the government will be funding more. Because you want to keep the distribution system working , if you don’ t do something , the trucks will stop running .

“ Already we are beginning to see signs of a collapsing truck transport system. You see all the truck accidents ; they are signs of an ageing and poorly maintained truck fleet.

“ Those are signs of collapse . Transporters need to make enough money to pay their drivers and maintain their trucks . ”

According to him , a truck should not be carrying petroleum products if it is more than 15 years old.

“ But in Nigeria today, we have 40 - year -old trucks carrying petroleum products.

What do you expect to happen ?

Today , modern trucks have anti -rollover, anti- spill, anti-skid , anti-theft and satellite tracking devices , among others ,” he said.

He added that Nigeria was lagging behind other African countries “ because our fuel price is fixed . ”

“ We are behind because there is no investment in new trucks , ” he said , describing the recent fuel tanker accidents in the country as too many.

“ As MOMAN, we are very engaged with the government , the FRSC , the DPR ; we are doing the best that we can to reduce the number of accidents using our expertise , ” he added.

The National Operations Controller, IPMAN , Mr Mike Osatuyi , said, “ It is overdue to increase marketers’ margins , including transport allowance.

For over 10 years, the margins have not been increased.

“Inflation is increasing every year ; so government has to know that the margins for all the stakeholders in the downstream sector have to be in line with inflation.”

The Federal Government had on May 11 , 2016 announced a new petrol price band of N 135 to N 145 per litre , a move that signalled the end to fuel subsidy payment to private marketers.

He alleged that after several representations to the management and a protest to the Governor’s Office on December 23, 2019, all promises made by the Special Adviser to the governor on Health Matters and the Secretary to the State Government(SSG), Ifedayo Abegunde were not fulfilled.

The hospital management was also alleged of attempting a divide and rule strategy as the “management selected 33 out of over 150 doctors and paid them untagged one month, and the rest have nothing to give to their families for the Yuletide.”

They, however, resolved that before they could return to the wards, “All our arrears and backlog of salaries be cleared with immediate effect; issue of our welfare should be addressed and concerted action taken; that our wages and remuneration be paid directly into our accounts, we don’t want intermediary; that our strike has commenced at 12 midnight is total and indefinite till all our agitations are resolved, that we are against any form of victimization during and after the strike, if any of such happens, we will not hesitate to call out our members.”

The doctors however appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and all meaningful Nigerians to prevail on the management of the teaching hospital to pay their salaries.

EducationNANS Warns Gateway Poly Against Victimization Of Students, Issues Ultimatum by Honbright(op): 9:43pm On Jan 10, 2020
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students South West Zone (NANS Zone D) ably led by Comrade Kappo Olawale after a wide consultation issued a confrontational statement against the management of the Gateway Polytechnic Saapade (GAPOSA) under the administration of Dr. I.K Oyeyinka, an institution located at the very heart of Ode-Remo, a suburb of Remo North Local Government in the Gateway State.

The Deputy Coordinator NANS Zone D in a statement signed unanimously exclaimed "Our attention has the apex Students body in South West has been drawn to the long standing victimization of Nigerian students, their persecution and puppetism under the guise of morality, discipline and mundane oath of allegiance by the management of the Gateway Polytechnic Saapade.

As Students' body, from time immemorial we have maintained an equal footing partnership and an unshaken relationship with our administrators of knowledge (School Authorities) in all of our Tertiary Institutions in South West in all facets of the academic system with specific focus on our students' welfarism sociologically, educationally, mentally, psychologically and politically.

It is saddening at the level to which the school arbitrarily encroaches, depreciates and malign into pathetic and enforce archaic policies testrunning all manners of mundane bureaucratic, especially the ones fabricated with barbarism devised to treat with disdain some perceived Students' activists who hitherto have been voices to reckon with, with peculiarity to Equity, Justice and Leadership Accountability and Transparency.

Declare, that ordinarily it should have been in the interests and be the responsibility of the academic community to cater for and ensure the safety of her students above board. But it’s quite unfortunate that Gateway Polytechnic Saapade (GAPOSA) has taken to the sides of the oppressors by proscribing the formidable Students Union Government (SUG) and terminating the elective offices of her executives, the dastardly act that was hinged upon and carried out during and under the incumbency of her President 'Comrade Asani Olushola (BOBOLAW)’, a perceived threat and voracious titan who led a massive tuition fee hike protests combatantly against the way his students are being treated with disdain and mediocrity, despite consultation moves and peace dialogues engaged with the management in time past under the leadership of Dr. I.K Oyeyinka.

Strongly opine that our students are not safe and cannot be trusted in the hands of an autocratic, a standing rebellion and an agent of calumny, an unshaken affront against the dreams and aspirations of our students under Dr. I.K Oyeyinka. Although, we are aware vividly the transformation strides of the polytechnic from that of primitive to a globally competitive institution of learning which is visible to the eyes and audible to the ears.

However, It cannot be defended that our students interests can be guaranteed under a nice house with no roof, the dividends of democracy transcend beyond infracstructural development and jaw breaking edifices, for if democracy does not encourage expression of conflicting interests by creating unequivocal channels of feedback, then our people may say that “na democracy we go chop”?

Moreover, we also register our displeasure and regret over the persecution and crucification of a Campus Journalist of the institution, an ND 2 Mass Communication student who has been labelled 'Usurper and Shenanigan of the Academic Environment', our student 'Inumidun Ayoola Babalola’ who in himself was not happy at the way students are being held hostage and circumferenced brain drain and who had improvised all channels of justice to ensure the management sit aright and discharge her students from rive oppression being perpetuated.

Furthermore, it Is on the suspension of Inumidun Ayoola Babalola's portal by the Management of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, Ogun State (GAPOSA), sequel to his viral publication on Sowore and against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu which was duely published on Sahara Reporters and which culminated into his invitation by the Department of State Security (DSS) Ogun State Command of which our leadership believe was surely sponsored and coordinated by his shenanigans and adversaries tented within the jurisdiction of the powers that be.

One thing must be made clearer from the foregoing, Ayoola has been a consistent nightmare and threats to the atrocities of some echelons in the school's organogram and if radical steps are not meted on him, he could become a burning powder haunting their inglorious and shameful deeds.

On this note, we give the management of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, Remo, Ogun State a 7-days ultimatum to put to halt her phenomenal extremism against Nigerian students by providing an atmosphere of love, personal expression and the rule of law through liberation of our students by the shackles of oppression and bureaucratic.

Also, i state it emphatically and not sympathetically, that the usual invisible ban placed on our students by the institution and her machinations should step aside and our sister organization the “Students Union Government (SUG)" be REOPENED and LIFTED without no further delay. This should be carried within the ultimatum given and an independent electoral body should be constituted.

That, our comrades be granted 'ACCESS'  to all manners of platforms needed to register their displeasure by challenging any irregularities and policies of the school either favorable or unfavorable within the ambit of the constitution of Nigeria as amended.

That the Students Representative Council (SRC) and the Central Executive Council (CEC) should be re-instated and objectives reviewed as well as with fresh elections conducted and contestants given equal opportunities to test the potent power of popularity and political influence and the institution management having no INTEREST in who the cap fits all within the 7 Days Ultimatum.

EducationNigerian Varsity Students Union Cautions US, IRAN by Honbright(op): 4:02pm On Jan 06, 2020
One of the leading Varsity in Nigeria, University of Ibadan's students union has cautioned the United States Of America and Iran against starting a world war.

In a press release titled “The World Needs Peace” and signed by its President, Akeju G. Olusegun, the union noted that international unrest always starts inconsequentially before escalating.

Full press release below:

The World Needs Peace
“we have woken up to a more dangerous world”-Amelie de Montchain (France’s Europe Minister)

Right now, the world has enough to contend with. It is not an avoidable battle or war and, the Students’ Union of the University of Ibadan recognizes the fact that the international atmosphere is currently tensed. The Union has in time past contributed to the promotion of international peace and at this trying time, it will not be silent. The Students’ Union is blessed with over 30,000 students and as such it has more reasons to be concerned. The recent happenings might not just end at the Middle East or America, who knows how much it can escalate?

International unrest has always started inconsequentially before escalating. This brings to memory the gruesome killing of an Austro-Hungarian heir, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, in Sarajevo on the 24th of June 1914. This snowballed into an immediate crisis. In retaliation, Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia on 23 July. Serbia’s reply did not satisfy the Austrians, and the two moved to a war footing. This event marked the beginning of WW1, known in history to be one of the deadliest wars on earth. The WW2 also started infinitesimally when Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, and Britain and France declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939.

The rest, they say is history. Following closely is the current ugly events and attacks which involved the killing of Qasem Soleimani, Commander of the Elite Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in a US strike on Baghdad’s International Airport. This might just be another infinitesimal dispute that might put the whole world into chaos. We are not being pessimistic, we are realistic.

Is there any tension now?

Yes, the Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reported to have vowed to take “severe revenge” for Soleimani’s death. Also, in a reported handwritten note seen by AFP, Qais Al-Khazali, the head of Asaib Ahl Al-Haq said “all resistance fighters must be ready, as an upcoming conquest and a great victory await us”. Again, the body language and reactions of the US government are not in any way making the situation better. The world might just be sitting on a time bomb.

While the Union will not be involved in any blame game, we however must make our stance known as members of the global community. It is important that all parties put the consequences and resultant events in mind before taking any further step. The world is currently facing a lot which includes economic challenges, continuous fall of employment opportunities, global insecurity, hunger, illiteracy, corruption, poverty, religious tensions, climate change, amongst others. Any form of international unrest would only make the situation worse and unbearable.

What would the world have to lose in any international unrest?

Loss of life; with the level of technological advancement the world has attained, it is possible to erase a whole nation at once. An atomic bomb flattened Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing more than 200,000 people and yet it is not the deadliest weapon.

Imagine what would happen with Nuclear bombs that could kill a thousand times more. Considering the fact that the list of weapons are unending, we could eventually erase the world. Any international unrest would increase the poverty rate of the world and push us all into starvation. The world would also not be able to withstand the hostility that would follow any international unrest for the day of doom will not end at a command of “stop”. The horror in the subsequent peace will still chase us, in fact, the consequences are unending.

We call on every youth in the world to react against any form of unrest. We should know that we are at the receiving end of the crisis. We will not just lose a lot where issues like this start, we will also live to bear the consequences of the events. Youths still have the power to change the world through our actions and inactions.

The Students’ Union of the University of Ibadan therefore urges every sister union across the globe to also call for peace in every quarter.

We are in one way or the other stakeholders in this issue and as such we should protect the interest of the youth.

The Union also appeals to every organization, country, world power, the United Nations, and other International bodies to quickly intervene and find a long lasting solution to this unpleasant situation.

PoliticsImo On Fire As Gov. Ihedioha Disobeys Court Judgment by Honbright(op): 2:09pm On Jan 06, 2020
..Elected Chairmen and councillors insist on section 7(I) of Nigeria's constitution

By Tunde Bright Olorungbotemi

Nigeria as a country is practicing democracy and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria section 7(1) of 1999 as amended states as follows:

"The system of Local government by democratically elected local government council is under this constitution guaranteed; and accordingly, the government of every state shall subject to section 8 of this constitution, ensure their existence under a law which provides for the establishment, structure, composition, finance and functions of such councils".

On the strength of the above stated section of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, the constitution has guaranteed a system of local government by democratically elected local government council and it is enjoined on the government of every state to ensure their existence. Imo state is not exempted. By the same constitutional provision, caretaker committees introduced and appointed to head Local government councils by state Governors is unconstitutional.

The Imo state local government law number 15 of 2000 as amended which enables Imo state Governor to suspend democratically elected local government council officials and appoint a caretaker committee by a resolution of the state House of assembly is in breach of section 7(1) of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended, thereby is a nullity as Justice Clara Bata Ogunbiyi; Justice of the supreme court of Nigeria declared in the case between elected local government council chairmen vs Ekiti state government in December 2019.

It is pertinent to restate that section 1(1) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended emphasizes the supremacy of the constitution wherein it state:

"This constitution is supreme, and its provisions shall have binding force on all authorities and persons throughout the federal republic of Nigeria".

One wonders why the governor of Imo state; Chief Emeka Ihedioha who has served for 12 years as a federal lawmaker and after taking oath to defend and protect the constitution of Nigeria, goes ahead to take actions which are contrary to the same constitution he swore to protect and defend.

The supreme court in a judgement concerning local government council chairmen and Governors have ruled that no State Governor or house of assembly has the powers to sack or suspend democratically elected local government council chairmen, vice chairmen or councillors.

In Imo state, Chief Emeka Ihedioha issued an order suspending democratically elected local government council chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors in the 27 local government council areas for six months at the same time just because they are of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and appointed interim management committees which are unknown to the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The supposed six months suspension of the Imo LGA officials elapsed in December 2019 and today these democratically elected local government council officials returning back to their offices following the appeal court judgement gotten in favour of the elected local government council chairmen on Imo state against the Governor and house of assembly with another supreme court judgement on the same matter alike in Ekiti state, the Imo state Governor is said to have mobilized thugs with various degrees of weapons to fight the constitutionally recognized local government council officials.

Chief Emeka Ihedioha must remember that his gubernatorial election matter is still before the supreme court waiting for judgement... Why disobey the supreme court judgement on local government autonomy?

Report has it that the local government council chairmen in Imo state officially wrote (with attached copies of the appeal and supreme court judgements) to the Inspector General of Police, Director of state security service, the Imo state Governor, APC national Chairman and other relevant authorities about their readiness to go back to office today 6th January, 2020.

CelebritiesDavido's Fatherhood, What Wizkid, 9ice, Nigerians Need To Learn From Him by Honbright(op): 7:56am On Jan 05, 2020
Davido, Wizkid and their senior colleague 9ice are practically on the same pedestal when it comes to their music crafts.

They all have fame and fortune nesting at their bodes so much so one could actually deduce they have the world at their feet. But when it comes to fatherhood, in view of available facts, it appears Davido is far ahead of the duo.

Davido has two daughters from two baby mamas, Sophia and Amanda and on the surface it appears things are pretty much under control.

Apart from the earlier squabbles Davido had with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu over the paternity and custody of their daughter, Imade, things between them have been relatively cordial and only recently the ‘Assurance’ man was seen giving the baby mama a lift on his private jet which of course spark some rumours of a renewed romance between them.

Though the rumoured turned ugly but that would not take the fact away that the singer has been a remarkable husband.

Davido visits his daughter regularly and often post lovely pictures of their time together on social media. Not once has Sophia said a negative word about Davido regarding the upkeep or care of their daughter.

The same thing can be said of Davido’s second baby mama, Amada who gave him another daughter, Hailey.

Although nothing much is known about US-based baby mama but there has never been a squeal of a discord between her and Davido and that could only mean that the OBO is on the level as a father to her daughter, regardless of the fact that he’s now married to Chioma Rowland.

For Wizkid, he has hardly been able to replicate his success on the music scene as father to three sons he has from three different women. He has been labelled ‘deadbeat dad’, ‘irresponsible father’ and ‘woman beater’ by these women at different times.

The first of the baby mamas to cry out was Shola Ogudu who called the ‘Fever’ crooner ‘deadbeat dad’, accusing him of abdicating his responsibility as a father to his son. She claimed she has been taking care of their son, Boluwatife single-handedly for a long time.

The second baby mama, Binta Diallo, a Guinean-American had complained too, that, she caters for her son’s needs all alone.

“I am a single mom, I work my ass off and I pay for everything, imagine if someone was paying for my son’s school fees, nanny and paying bills,” she complained on social media.

The third baby mama, British-American Jada Pollock was much on the same page with the Starboy when the other two baby mamas were taking him to the cleaners until recently when she spilled the beans about the singer. She accused the singer of domestic violence.

For Abolore Akande known as 9ice
His story with his 3 baby mamas has not all been too cheery, except for Olasunkanmi Ajala, who he married recently.

For Adetola Anifalaje and Toni Payne, 9ice is as good a father as none. While the ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner was getting married to his second baby mama, his first, Toni Payne hit the social media with a disclaimer on the singer.

“I have raised our son, Zion 100% alone” she says on her Instagram page.

For Adetola, 9ice is not a father to her daughter. She said in a chat with Potpourri that the singer has not even set eyes on his daughter since she was born in 2018, let alone taking care of her. According to her he has completely gone AWOL on his responsibilities as a father.

You may call Davido many names because of his exuberance in many aspects of his lifestyle but when it comes to the home-front there are many things many of his colleagues need to learn from him.
