PoliticsBehind The Glory: Former Nigeria's President, Jonathan Is Just Unstoppable by Honbright(op): 10:09am On Nov 12, 2019
Dr.Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2010-2015). He was the fourteen President and a man with utmost respect for the Rule of Law, VAM News reports.

He left office on a 'supposedly rigged' election which he contested and lost to President Muhammadu Buhari in March 2015.

For many Africans and the World at large, Goodluck Jonathan is the second most respected leader in the continent, bearing the first position is the late Nelson Mandela of South Africa.

Jonathan came into prominence and global limelight when he called his opponent, General Buhari and congratulated him on his victory on the election they contested together.

That made him the first African incumbent President to concede  defeat; which averted what would have been known as Nigerian second civil war.

"My ambition does not worth the blood of any Nigerian" Jonathan said.

For those that boasted to send GEJ to his village, God has sent him higher...

VAM reports that the United States, France, UK, China, Russia and the United Nations set to appoint GOODLUCK JONATHAN the Head of U.N. Global Crises Envoy. This role similar to that of Tony Blair who on leaving office as United Kingdom Prime Minister was appointed the Middle East envoy for the United Nations, European Union, United States and Russia.

Goodluck Jonathan would be the first African past Head of State to be assigned such role.

From lecturer to Commissioner, from Commissioner to Deputy Governor, from Deputy Governor to Governor, from Governor to Vice President, from Vice President to Acting President and from Acting President to President. Now, from President to a World Leader!

PoliticsFuel Scarcity Hits Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa Borders, Petrol Sells For N600 Per Litre by Honbright(op): 7:08am On Nov 12, 2019
Supply suspension: Petrol scarcity hits border towns, fuel now N600/litre

*Fuel smuggling thrives in Adamawa, Sokoto
*Task force brutalises Idiroko residents

Residents of border communities in Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa, Katsina and Sokoto states are groaning following the Federal Government’s suspension of fuel supply to areas within 20 kilometres to the nation’s borders.

On Thursday, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, had directed that no petroleum products should be supplied to any filling station within 20 kilometres to the borders.

Investigations by our correspondents in Ogun, Lagos, Adamawa, Katsina, and Sokoto states showed that the government’s order had triggered fuel scarcity and hike in the prices of petroleum products.

For instance, investigations by one of our correspondents showed the Federal Government’s order had led to fuel scarcity in communities such as Ihunbo, Ilase, Ajegunle, Idiroko and Agosasa in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Also, at the Seme border in Lagos on Monday, there were fuel queues as only two filling stations were selling fuel.

Many filling stations shut in Ogun

The PUNCH learnt that so many filling stations within 20 kilometres to the border in Ipokia, close to Benin Republic had been shut by the Federal Government’s task force on border closure.

One of the residents of Ipokia, Elijah Akinola, in an interview with The PUNCH, accused the security agencies in the area of sabotaging the economy of the country.

He asked, “Can you imagine buying a litre of fuel at the rate of N600? Before we can get fuel for N145 in Ipokia, we will need to go to Owode, which is 28 kilometres away. We don’t know what we can do to survive.

“Before the Federal Government’s order, they (security agents) used to take bribes from marketers before allowing them to export fuel to Benin Republic. Now that the Federal Government has stopped supply of fuel supply to border communities, we are the ones suffering. Artisans, even medical personnel, are the ones suffering.

One person dies in Ogun

Akinola said in Ipokia that one person died following the inability of a hospital to get fuel to power a generator to perform a surgery on the deceased.

“As I am talking to you, to power generators in hospitals at Idiroko is difficult. Ihunbo, Ilase, Ajegunle, Idiroko, Agosasa and other towns in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State are affected. There was a patient that died this afternoon (Monday) just because there was no electricity to power machines for medical examinations.”

Another resident, Ajibade Idowu, said the task force, which comprised soldiers, immigration officers and other security operatives, commenced the implementation of the policy in the area on Sunday. But he accused some members of the task force of highhandedness.

Task force brutalises people at filling stations

Idowu said, “Just yesterday, (Sunday) the joint task force men, comprising soldiers and others sealed many filing stations. They brutalised people they met at the filling stations. Fuel is now sold for N600 per litre in Idiroko and Ipokia. They sealed many filling stations at Idiroko, Ipokia, Ajegunle, Ilase and Oko Eye.

“Everywhere was deserted as if the Federal Government had declared a curfew. Fuel is even not available at the black market. People are lamenting and complaining of the situation.”

On the alleged harassment of the people by the security agencies, Akinola said, “The security agents are harassing people. We cannot go out of this local government. If we are coming from Owode with five litres of fuel, they will harass us.

Long queues at Seme border filling stations

The PUNCH gathered on Monday that only two out of more than seven filling stations at the border between Nigeria and Benin Republic in the Seme area of Lagos were selling fuel.

Owners of 1,000 seized trucks appeal to NCS

One of our correspondents also gathered that more than 1,000 trucks belonging to Nigerians that could not cross the borders were still stranded.

Katsina border towns petrol dealers defy FG, sell fuel

However, investigations in Katsina State showed that filling station owners in the border towns of Jibiya and Kongolam continued to sell fuel on Monday despite government’s order.

It was learnt the stations selling fuel were mainly independent marketers. It was however observed that they were selling to only motorists and motorcyclists.

A station attendant at a fuel station in Jibiya said he had not received any instruction directing him to stop selling fuel ,even as of Monday.

Sale of petrol puts on hold in Bakassi

After the suspension, sale of fuel was put on hold in Bakassi, Cross River State.

A source at the border town, where internally displaced persons are sheltered, said, “The four filling stations in the town were not allowed to dispense petrol to motorists after the ban. But after about four days, the security people considered that since most of the people of Ikang used Okada, they allowed them to enter the petrol stations to buy into their motorcycles.

“They also allowed drivers of commercial vehicles plying Calabar to buy the product. But they don’t allow people in jerricans.”

He said he could not ascertain if the price per litre was increased.

Only smugglers are still supplying fuel to border areas – NUPENG

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers has said it will establish a task force and redesign its stickers so as to effectively enforce the recent order by the Federal Government banning the supply of petrol to border communities.

NUPENG on Monday said those who were still supplying petrol to border towns despite the Federal Government order were smugglers and not members of the union.

The General Secretary, NUPENG, Olawale Afolabi, told one of our correspondents that the union was aware of the Federal Government order stopping the supply of petrol to filling stations located 20 kilometres to border towns.

He said, “We are aware of the directive but smugglers are the ones taking products to these communities. It takes a lot of effort to stop criminals. In fact, we have also set up a task force to ensure compliance.

“Most times you see the diversion of products that are supposed to go to the hinterlands. These products are taken to the border areas through diversion by armed smugglers.”

When told that some of the trucks used by these alleged petrol smugglers often had NUPENG stickers, Afolabi replied, “They are smugglers and not our members. But when you see their trucks, for them to escape easily, they will put our stickers.

“So right now, we are trying to redesign our stickers and again we are setting up a task force to ensure compliance. The union is handling this. However, I want you to know that these smugglers carry arms and we cannot confront them.

“Therefore, our task force will mainly educate our members at the depots and try to halt the sale of products to illegal marketers who may divert these products. So, only law enforcement agents have the capacity to confront these smugglers.”

Education12-year-old Nigerian Wins Award For Discovering A New Mathematics Formula by Honbright(op): 6:54am On Nov 12, 2019
A 12-year-old Nigerian boy, Chika Ofili has been awarded the TruLittle Hero award for discovering a new way to divide in mathematics.

Chika's mathematic's teacher, Miss Mary Ellis who is also the head of the mathematics department at Westminster Under School said he (Chika) discovered the new formula while solving a holiday assignment.

She revealed that she gave Chika a book called First Steps for Problem Solvers (published by the UKMT) to study during the holidays.

The book had several divisibility tests which are used to quickly work out whether a number is exactly divisible by either 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 before you start dividing, but had no easy or memorable test listed for checking divisibility by 7.

Chika however solved this and also had an algebraic proof to back it up.

His new formula involves taking the last digit of any whole number, multiplying it by 5 and then adding it to the remaining part of the number to get a new number.

PoliticsBuhari's Loyalist, Ogunolu Calls FG, APC Office Holders To Order by Honbright(op): 10:32pm On Nov 10, 2019
•Stakeholders and all APC office holders to act fast on the situation of our Nation

A Die hard loyalist of President Muhammad Buhari, the APC Youths Organization National President, Comrade Ogunolu Samsideen Opeyemi has called on the leaders, stakeholders and all office holders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to act fast on the situation of our Nation, in a press made available to VAM NewsOnline on Sunday, 10th November.

As one of the party loyalist and submissive frontier of APC in the community of youths and students, I am pathetically sending this message to President, Muhammad Buhari, Federal Speaker, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan and other office holders both at the state and federal level under All progressive Congress (APC) to show their reason why they are representing and who are they representing, if it is we 'Nigerians' you are all representing then there should be necessary action on this objectives to avoid problem of food and shelter in this country because alots of bitter complain is flying all over the country.

Firstly, one of my objective is that executives and legislatives should call for an emergency meeting on how to regulate the price of rice and controlled the sales to the lowest price at least between #8000 to #9000.

Recall that mr president, Buhari is insisting that he wants our country to produce rice that is why he ordered for closure of border for years now and he didn't monitor the price they are selling rice all over Nigeria, this is very bad and is causing alots of problem as a result of the poor masses that are not financially buoyant to buy a tin of rice.

I am imploring Mr president to call the attention of his cabinets on this situation to work on it fast because if there is no solution on the price control it will push the opposition party to castigate on we that brought this government on board.

And I want you to know that "abandoned stone will be useful" and for that not to happened we need to correct many things now before it is too late.

Secondly, on economy sector Mr president and his cabinets need to work hard to ensure the stability of economy is urgently ascertained to avoid poor living.

Moreover, Let the 2020 budgets yield positive result most especially on health, education and social amenities for the progress of our dear country.

Christianity EtcLet God Speak To You- VAM by Honbright(op): 7:25am On Nov 10, 2019
Brethren, I congratulate you for moving on in the ember months. It is obvious that we are gradually moving to the end of the year.

My prayer for you is that the end of this year would be more glorious for you than the beginning in Jesus name.

As Christians, many of us refer to the Almighty God as our Father because the Lord Jesus taught us so. Luke 11 vs. 2 is our reference “ And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth”.

As his children, we need to ask God to reveal some secrets to us.

Many of us do this with our earthly fathers when we want to know some facts about our families. In like manner, it is not out of place to ask God for the solution to a challenge.

Unlike earthly parents that have limited ways of revealing secrets, God has several ways and he decides, what method is best for each person, when he reveals.

God spoke to Abram in a vision.

Genesis 15 vs. 1 “ After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward”. We know that Abram had been coping with barrenness for years.

He expressed this in verses 2 &3 of the same chapter, “ And Abram said, Lord God, what will thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir”.

Abram was a rich man. He had a house but no home because he had no biological children.

Let’s see what God told him in verse 5 of the same chapter “ And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be”.

God was simply telling Abram that since he commanded Man to be fruitful and multiply, that command remains valid.
For you and I that command also remains valid. No matter the forces holding you down, the power of God will set you free in the name of Jesus.

Whatever challenge, you may be going through now; the word of God will change your story from lamentation to unspeakable joy in the name of Jesus.
In the case of Moses, God used another method.

He sent an angel. Exodus 3 vs. 1&2 “ Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed”.

You will recall that in the case of Samuel, the young boy heard the voice of the Holy Spirit. Samuel heard physically. Not in a dream.

1st Samuel 3 vs. 4&5 “ And the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. And he ran to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And again he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down”.

Brethren, you know the story. If Samuel didn’t hear physically, he would not run to Eli.
In the case of Joseph, God revealed his future to him in a dream.

Zechariah whose wife Elisabeth was barren also had an angel appear to him.

Luke 1 vs. 11 – 13 “ And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zechariah saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zechariah: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John”.

Earlier, the Bible described the couple as “ well- striken in years”. In modern English, they were quite old.

Do you think that angels have stopped appearing?

They still do. Sometimes in human form. Though God can also speak to us through his word. He can also show you a vision, or a dream or speak to you through the still small voice of the Holy Spirit.

Also called the Spirit of Truth. That should tell you that the Spirit of God does not tell lies. In fact, our Lord Jesus called him the Comforter.

Do you know that the solution to a particular challenge may be in another person’s testimony?

This is why we must not consider the time given to testimonies during church services as a waste of time.

Brethren, you need to ask. If you don’t ask, you will not receive an answer. You need to ask God for the solution to that challenge that makes you unfulfilled.

I am not in any way suggesting that you go visiting any one who calls himself a ‘prophet’ in red, or white garment or even suits. Not at all.
If indeed you believe that God created you, then please go to your Father and ask for the solution to that challenge.

To hear him brethren, you need to stay away from sins. You and I know what sins are. Ask for forgiveness and move closer to God.
Do you know if you give yourself an assignment of reading the Holy Bible everyday, you will be moving closer to God?

Try it and you will see the manifestation of God’s power in your life.
Psalm 25 vs. 14 “ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him, and he will shew them his covenant”.

The story of Daniel also confirms to us that God can reveal secrets. Daniel 2 vs.19 “ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven”.

Deuteronomy 29 vs. 29 is forever relevant. It states;
“The secret things belong unto the LORD our God” but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law”.

Brethren, no matter what you are passing through, God can reveal the secret. Once the secret is revealed, the solution is presented and that challenge would become history.
When God reveals a secret to a person, definitely that person’s story will change.

A lady who had been trusting God for a marriage partner, left her church and the Holy Spirit told her to take a route different from her usual route. She did and there she met a man. They became friends and he proposed to her. Today, they are a married couple.

By the grace of the Almighty God before this year ends, you will hear the voice of the Lord and you will be celebrated. However, it is important to play your path.

We must also remember that we must ask continuously until God speaks.

Do you know that even if you want to do IVF, God can show you where to go?

Once you are divinely directed and you comply, your victory is sure.

Many Christians live.....

Adefisoye however, frankly advise the Minister to stop flying jets in the next 6 months, while he undertakes a tour of the six geopolitical zones of the country by roads to appreciate the crucible experience of hapless Nigerians on the terribly deplorable state of the roads.

He also urges Fashola to seek forgiveness of God and Nigerians for his deliberate downplay of the suffering and hazards being encountered by Nigerians daily on terribly deplorable federal roads.

He further emphasized the  that many Nigerians have avoidably lost their lives on federal highways due to extremely bad state of the roads.

The lawmaker also laments that not only has Nigerians been wasting their valuable man-hours while traveling on bad federal roads across the country, he adds that criminal elements have also been capitalizing on the bad and impassable federal roads to kidnap, rob and kill innocent citizens on the federal highways.

He further posits that it will be difficult to pinpoint any stretch of federal road that is free from bad or impassable portions throughout the country.

Adefisoye, therefore, highlights a few of federal roads that are in terrible state across the country as follows:

PoliticsSocial Media Regulation Bill: Law Makers Are Also Entitled To Prison by Honbright(op): 4:10pm On Nov 08, 2019
The social media regulation bill which was sternly neglected and rebuked by  former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has passed first reading under Senate President Lawal. The bill which is meant to combat fake news, hate speech and other related offence reserve three years jail term for the offenders, VAM News reports.

Surprisingly, the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed who is the custodian and Commander In Chief of fake news and propaganda association happens to be the crusader of social media regulation. If social media regulation bill would be effective in Nigeria, these law makers should regulate their  mouths and stop dishing out what the Federal Government has never achieved.

Some weeks ago,  One aged minister of agriculture blatantly and shamelessly proclaimed that there's no hunger in Nigeria. I wonder the kind of fake news that would be more stronger than this or is it true that there is no hunger in Nigeria?  The last time I checked,  Congo of locally produced rice is sold at the rate of #600 or #700.

A family of four will consume one Congo without satisfaction while other things being equal. More so, the hiker level in the price of rice has drastically increased almost other products in the market. Tell me where this minister got his waspish research of no hunger proclamation. Is he not entitled to prison as well for airing this kind of fake news?

Similarly, special assistant to the President on Social Investment Program, Mrs. Maryam Uwais aired another fake news by asserting that, Abacha's loots has been given to the poor. I cannot but imagine the caliber of poor Nigerians she is referring to. Where and how do they distribute the loots to the poor?

Through which medium and channel. No wonder there's no more almajiris in the North. I guess they are enjoying Abacha's loots. No wonder there are no more street urchins and unemployment. Everyone is enjoying Abacha's loots. Shame on the bunch of liars in the helm of affairs. She is also entitled to prison if we are to abide by the social media regulation bill on fake news.

Recently, the Honorable minister of works and housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola made a very irritating and disapointing  comments on the condition of our roads. Fashola who has never traveled by road across different states of the country sat comfortably under the stench of cool breeze and said Nigeria roads are not bad as portrayed. Has Fashola forgotten that 'Bad' is an understatement to qualify the bumpy, poor and wobbled condition of our roads?

Why didn't he make a tour round the different states and see under his eye glass the despicable condition of the roads. Why would someone who majorly travels by air be talking about the horrible experience the motorists are having on our roads. Now tell me if this news is real or fake, Mr. Lai Muhammad and the Senate should think twice before this social media regulation nonsensical bill.

The bill is only meant to punish the oppositions, silent Nigerians against criticisms and hinder the freedom of expression and the press. Say no to Social Media regulation bill. Nigerians arise!

PoliticsHouse Of Assembly Amends Pension Law In Ondo by Honbright(op): 7:44pm On Nov 06, 2019
The Ondo State House of Assembly has amended the Contributory Pension law 2014.
Ondo state Assembly chamber, VAM News has learnt.

The law was a domestication of the pension reform act 2004 which was signed into law by the Federal Government.

It among other things seeks to regulate the contributory pension scheme for workers in the public service of Ondo State.

The contributory pension scheme was midwived by the Federal government in 2004 following years of neglect and suffering experienced by workers after service and the associated bottlenecks to accessing pension after service.

The domestication of the law came alive in Ondo State in the year 2014, after the pension bill was passed into law by the Ondo State House of Assembly.

A bid to harmonise grey areas in the Ondo State Contributory Pension law 2014 which are at variance with the 2004 pension reform act of the Federal Government, prompted an executive bil for amendment of crucial sections of the law.

After passing through the first and second reading, the bill was committed to the Committee of the whole where the identified grey areas were critically discussed and resolved.

Speaking before the amended version was passed into law, Speaker of the House, Rt. Honourable Oleyelogun Bamidele David observed that with the amendment, the Ondo State Pension law will further enhance better life for workers after service.

Rt Honourable Oleyelogun noted that the amendment was justifiable and another milestone by the state government targeted at bringing succour to workers after years of meritorious service.

The 2014 law on contributory pension scheme for workers in Ondo Ondo State public service has as its objectives, assisting persons in the employment of the state Government to save towards their retirement.

It seeks to ensure that persons who retire from the public service of Ondo State receive their terminal or retirement benefits as and when due.

It also establishes a set of rules and regulations for the administration and payment of retirement benefits in the public service of the state.

In another development, a bill for a law to establish the Primary Health Care Agency was committed to the House Committee on Health after it went through the first and second reading at plenary.

Speaking on the bill, the lawmakers noted the level of decadence in Primary Health Care facilities across the state, owing to poor management.

They noted that with the Institution of the Primary Health Care Board, health care delivery at the grassroots will be better structured and people of the state would have an improved and unhindered access to health facilities at the grassroots.

Speaker of the House, Rt Honourable Oleyelogun Bamidele David noted that primary health care is a right of the people and should be given the priority it deserves.

The Speaker maintained that the agency when emplaced would facilitate quality health care delivery to the people.

PoliticsOCDA GOES BERSERK: As Imolites Groan In Pains, Set For A Showdown by Honbright(op): 7:56pm On Nov 04, 2019
Government of Imo state under Chief Emeka Ihedioha is the 3rd most lawless government in Nigeria after Bauchi and Edo states, VAM News reports.

It is expected of every new Government not only to continue with the policies and programs met on ground but also to improve on them for the greater good of the people and make possible progressive corrections where necessary.

In Imo state, what we have experienced for the past 6 months is largely different from the normal routine in governance anywhere in the world.

What we have in Imo is a situation where a governor is only active as governor at night and his appointees are the acting governors of the state in the day.

A situation where by the General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA); Sir Chimdi Ejiogu and his director, Chief Uche Onyeagocha (Imo SSG) are yet to come to terms with the difference between governance and alutaism.

They are busy investing on brigandage as human capital development with his formation of numerous task forces as much as they can to steam up ego and public perception of being dogged fighters, not minding the adverse effect on citizens and state resources.

Stories are awash on how some rough looking boys in different vehicles (white painted old Mitsubishi bus, grey green sienna, navy blue Passat volt wagen, all with inscription "OCDA Taskforce" have been invading Communities of Mbieri, Ubomiri, Ogbaku in Mbaitoli LGA, Ekemele, Akabo and Iho communities of Ikeduru LGA, Umuokanne and Obosima in Ohaji Egbama LGA, harassing house owners to produce their OCDA fencing and building permits even as pains occasioned by the mal-administrative afflictions exemplified by the massive protest against multiple and inordinate taxations by the Imo PDP led insensitive government are yet to subside.

One will wonder why such practice should be experienced under a government that arrogates due process lordship to herself.
OCDA which is an acronym for Owerri capital development authority to the best of our knowledge, following the law enacting it has to do with Owerri capital development.

PoliticsGroup Faults Obono-obla For Involving Osinbajo In His Ordeal by Honbright(op): 12:39pm On Nov 04, 2019
A group, identified as the Initiative To Save Democracy (ISD) has faulted the former Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla for accusing the vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo of being the architect of his fortune, VAM News has learnt.

The Initiative to Save Democracy in a statement issued by its Press Secretary Peter Oladele stated that it was dishonourable for a public servant to make such allegations against the Vice president.

The statement read:
“Okoi Obono-Obla has serious allegations facing him which are not matters that he expects Nigerians to wish away.

Is it not shameful that upon the raising of these serious allegations, Mr Obla has blamed everyone else for his travails but himself? And then goes ambitiously for the Vice President, accusing him of being the architect of his fortune. This is puerile.”

“Obono-Obla has been accused of blackmailing those he was asked to investigate by threatening and extorting them.

He was also accused of using the panel as a vendetta against his so-called enemies. These are serious allegations that speak to the breach of public trust by a public official. They are to be answered in fact and not by chasing shadows and imaginary enemies.

The group further claims that “there are also allegations that he had gone ultra vires.

Obono-Obla acted in areas that were not within his mandate. He broke the rules of his engagement in the most blatant and offensive ways. The former Chairman had assumed prosecutorial powers that were not conferred on him by any laws or any official declaration.

He had begun to assume the role of the EFCC and ICPC and began taking matters to court, meanwhile, his task was strictly an investigative one. Even when he was called to order by the Vice President, cautioning him that he was exceeding his bounds, he still went ahead to continue in breach of the caution.

“Piles of petitions were received against the excesses of the former Chairman accusing him of unprofessional conduct. He was in fact accused of going to mark a person’s house in preparation for seizure and reallocation. This is nothing short of dishonour and abuse of power and office.”

“Now he accuses the Vice President of being the orchestrator of his perils? This is nonsensical” the group said.

“Mr Obla should take the high road, come out of hiding and face the dividends of his misconduct Oshiomhole

EducationAssociation Of University Students Demands For Defense Of The Students' Pact by Honbright(op): 10:53am On Nov 04, 2019
...A need for dialogue

The national association of university students has demanded for defense of the students pact, a need for dialogue, VAM News reports.

In defending the mandate of Nigerian University students in the South West as expected of me, it is with all sense of humility and respect to your highly esteemed office I write to seek for an audience with you as regards the expulsion of one of us, Ifemosu Michael Adewale which has become a trending news in the society today.

It need not be gainsaid that his expulsion came as a result of an article he wrote about the pathetic state of things in the University environment which has endangered the lives of Nigerian students in your institution and, sincerely speaking, the news of his suspension came to us as a shock.

Without mincing words, a University is expected to be an incubator of knowledge and a training ground for radicals that would definitely change the sad narratives of the Nigerian State and the moment they are being cowed or gagged from speaking against societal ills, then, it would not be wrong to say that our collective existence as a people is under threat.

Sir, it is my utmost belief that you would grant us the privilege of having a conversation with you as regards this latest development in curbing future occurrences and in avoiding any form of confrontation with the mass of Nigerian students in the South West and beyond.

Christianity EtcRighteousness Is The Key Against The Act Of Selfish Interest-vam by Honbright(op): 4:39am On Nov 03, 2019
RIGHTEOUSNESS is the act of being just or acting in a moral way so as to distinct between right and wrong.

By Pastor Daramola

Many people, religious leaders and those at the helm of affairs in this country believe their actions and deeds in the course of discharging their duties/responsibilities are just.

But most of these if not all are for their selfish interest.

Some religious leaders orientate their followers to discriminately avoid relating with followers of another religion denomination of the bases of mode of worship and tenets of the church. Imagine some Christians do not see anything good in white garment churches.

Meanwhile the Holy Bible does not condemn it instead justifies the need for followers of Jesus Christ to wear white garment. Revelation 7:13-17. Some Christian leaders preach against vision, prophecy and taking of drugs (medication).

They believe any Christian that does any of these is an unbeliever. Christian brothers or sisters cannot eat or drink with fellow Christians. Is that righteous?

Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed who were the bases for the establishment of Christianity and Islam universally taught and preached to their followers the spirit of love.

But today most religious leaders saddle with the responsibility of propagating these two religions have failed to practice the teachings of these two great leaders any longer. Imagine, Muslim brothers killing one another and non Muslims with the belief that they are doing it for God. Can you fight for God?

A Muslim friend told me that Muslims can pray anywhere they go and peace be unto them there. Then why are some Muslims maiming, killing people everywhere, is this righteousness?

It is pertinent that both the Christians and Muslims preach love and peace, allow peace to reign in this country particularly in the world in general.

There is no need to be killing one another because we came from the same God.
The world has been transformed from the primitive ways of living in the early days of world’s existence to a better, civilized and modernized ways of living.

Both Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed rode on donkeys, lived in caves, excreting in bushes but now religious leaders ride posh cars and jeep and living in mansions and beautiful houses. Why can’t they brought about positive changes to the ways of serving God and relating with others.

Some religious leaders tell their followers or members not to commit adultery but they commit adultery even with their female members. In our country, government officials be it political office holders, civil servants and judiciary are not righteous in discharging their duties and responsibilities.

Imagine the Police pension scam, a judge of high court discharged and acquitted an ex-governor of the charges of fraud, embezzlement and later for the ex-governor to plead guilty to the same charges in UK. Is the judge a righteous person?

A Policeman of the checkpoint takes bribe from commercial bus driver, if caught he be reprimanded but Top Senior Police Officer are involved in mismanagement of police fund they walking freely, is this righteousness?

Some Custom officers seize smuggle goods of ordinary citizen but some officers will escort a trailer load of rice or illegal goods into the country without being arrested.

EducationNANS Highlights Issues Affecting Students Plights(video) by Honbright(op): 11:12am On Nov 02, 2019
National association of Nigerian students, Lagos state axis has released issues affecting students plights, VAM News Report.

BEING THE PRESS TEXT DELIVERED BY COMRADE BUSARI ABDUL-QOWIYY ADELAJA; CHAIRMAN, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS), LAGOS AXIS.

Gentlemen of the press, members of the Lagos State Economic Advisory Council, My Ever gallant Student Union Presidents and my fellow Nigerian Students, I greet you all in the name of peace, democracy and freedom for all. I stand here before you not as a prophet but as a humble servant of you, the entire students in Lagos State.

National Association of Nigerian Students has lost it Integrity in the sight of an average student in the Country. But ever since the emergence of this present administration of NANS JCC Lagos under my own Leadership Comrade Busari AbdulQowiyy Adelaja, have always plan to engage all Student matters ideologically and formally because I believe it is very important to JOJO than to WARWAR.

There are burning critical issues in the mind of an average Nigerian Students in Lagos State. This is why we have come together to address these issues in the most polite manner expected of an intellectual group, being the umbrella body of all Nigerian students (NANS).

State of Students Welfare in Lagos State
Lagos State is developing and can be felt through the continuous transformation of the democratic processes which is not only acknowledged as one of the most preferable in Africa, but also admired across the world. A stronger and open democracy is feasible, but what comes of our expectations when the institution that ought to strengthen it (democracy) can't sustain it in their immediate environment?

Today, several students are threatened, suspended, rusticated in our tertiary institutions; Colleges of Education, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Universities for diabolical reasons which include protesting against exorbitant fee increments. This is inclusive of suspending the union bodies (Students Union Governments) who can speak for the students in their various campuses.

In order to avert the use of protest and the image it may paint to the World, we hereby urge and beseech our governments at various levels to interfere and help us stop the increment in tertiary institutions school fees and also help us bring our voice (SUG) back to Unilag and Yabatech respectively.

SAVE LAGOS 2019 (Students Against Violence Everywhere in Lagos)
Violence is part of everyday life in Nigeria. As the country is striving to reconcile with its past antecedents, it also faces many challenges of the present. One of the most urgent problems is the high crime-rate witnessed within an average street of the largest commercial city of Nigeria, Lagos state, whether it is a result of political, economic and social differences, it at the end give birth to youthful citizens being perpetrators. Though, the Sanwo-Olu led government have within the short while of coming into power made the state much more peaceful than almost all the other states in the country, yet, news of violent crime are becoming so frequent that some tertiary institutions in Lagos state has become inured to them. Although the intensity of immediate reactions to violence mitigates, fear increases.

Therefore, there is a dear need to sensitize our students on violence of any form and the damage it is doing to their career, community and institution they belong to; every sensible individual should know there is no positivity attached to violence either in school or in the society rather it brings downfall to the nations’ productivity level both politically and economically.

In this regard, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos chapter has deemed it fit to host a convergence to discuss “Students Against Violence Everywhere in Lagos (SAVE LAGOS)” and its impact on security, peace and good academic standard in our tertiary institutions and in the state at large. This summit will also feature the presentation of the Pride of the Students Leadership Award to the leadership of the Lagos State Economic Advisory Committee led by our courageous mother and mentor, Mrs Yetunde Akinluyi for her immense contribution to student’s growth within the state while maintaining peaceful atmosphere for effective and efficient learning.

We hereby use this medium to call on the Nigerian Police Force ably led by someone we call our Father CP Muazu Zubairu, Comptroller of Custom Zone A Compt. Aliyu Muhammed, Director of DSS Mr M.S AbdulFattah, NDLEA, EFCC, Government Organisation, NGO's, Private Companies and Private Individuals to partner with us in making this programme a Memorable and record breaking in the history of Lagos State.

2019 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DAY CELEBRATION IN LAGOS
The International Student Day is not simply the anniversary of the events that took place in Prague in 1939, but more significant a symbol of what students of the world are fighting for at the local, national and regional levels through the International Union of Students. To this day, the seat of the International Union of Students remained and located on the historic 17th November, in tribute to this struggle and to the courage of Students, especially those who lost their lives in the course of the resistance.

The emergence of the executive governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS) earlier this year was indeed a glorious feat and victory for the entire students in the state because we supported him and followed all his day to day campaign for months with our huge capacity, we engaged him positively during the last international students day in 2018 and we were assured that his victory will bring a positive change in the living standard of our people in the state.

Yes, it is just over 100 days since your emergence, but we can beat our chest boldly with pride that our governor did not disappoint us, you have turned our dear Lagos to a much more peaceful environment where anyone can invest and be rest assure of no security threats like we witnessed in other state especially in our school environments.

Earlier before this administration, it has always been in form of a walk from Students across the state from IKEJA under bridge to Alausa to express their grievance in the State of Education in Lagos state. But under this current NANS JCC Lagos Administration, the students’ leadership in Lagos State therefore wishes to cease this opportunity to celebrate the 2019 International Students’ Day with His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as a breakfast meeting. While major issues relating to students-government relationship can be better positioned.

MASS FAILURE OF SS II STUDENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN LAGOS
According to our research, it was gathered that as part of plans to reduce the promotion of ‘INCOMPETENT’ pupils from SSS II to SSS III, the state Ministry of Education implemented a new policy.

The policy recommends that for a pupil in SSS II to be promoted to SSS III and the state to pay the West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees, the pupil must pass the third term Examination.

Besides passing English and Mathematics, the scripts were also taken to different schools for grading. This is contrary to the previous method where a cumulative of first, second and third term results guaranteed promotion.

In our findings, we find out that Teacher’s attitude also hinder learning especially when one does not present oneself as a high intellectual and formidable person. “A quack Doctor is capable to handle an individual at a time but a bad teacher can ruin not only the individual but also a Nation. The state is faced with the problem of competent teachers in Mathematics and English which is the major causes of this mass failure in our Secondary Schools.

The State Ministry of Education also has a direct role to play as it relates to discipline of both the student and the teacher, supervision of teaching and learning and preparation of students well enough for examination.

Also, “An effective mental health for principal includes emotional, stability, maturity of character and a large capacity of frustration tolerance with the strength to withstand the strain and stress inherent in running today’s Nigeria secondary school without undue fiscal or psychological disequilibria”.

Many principals are faced with managerial difficulties especially those who lack human relationship cannot execute effective administrative duties in the schools. For example, a school that lacks discipline hardly achieves the aim and objective of the educational system. Through these factors enumerated above, it could be seen that, there are many causes attributed to mass failure in our Senior Secondary School Examination.

We understand that Examination is the only instrument that could evaluate the performance of both students and teachers at the end of their school career. And don’t also forget that, the Success or failure of the student in examination is a clear manifestation of the student academic activities during the teaching. Success or good performance determines a brighter future for the student while failure is disastrous as it always indicate a dropout which is the common effect in the area of the study.

Finally, we believe that all our aforestated will definitely aspire the Commissioner for Education Mrs Folashade Adefisayo to seek for possible recommendations and solution to students, teachers and government to bring an end to student mass failure in our Secondary School Examination and to improve student performance in the future examination in their respective school and also other part of the country having similar Educational problems.

We also use this medium to seek the involvement and partnership of highly influential Personalities like Michael Otedola, Mike Adenuga, Dangote, NGOs to support the state government to fund Education in the state so as to ease them of the huge amount allotted for the WAEC FEE in Lagos State

SEX FOR GRADES
We call for urgent action to address sexual harassment against students. It is so barbaric that the issue of sexual harassment against women was not unique to Universities, but has become prevalent in the society, including religious settings.
We hereby condemned sexual harassment against students totally; it was unacceptable as the nation’s Educational system had suffered many setbacks that had hindered its development.

We believe it is our responsibility time to speak up, speak out and stand by victims of sexual abuse, saying the culture of silence must end. There are laws to protect victims of sexual harassment and abuse, but such laws cannot operate except victims speak out to get justice. We need to be accountable for the well being and care of our students, ensure justice for survivor of sexual abuse and the political will to prosecute and punish offenders.

This simply has to change. It is no longer enough to sweep allegations under the carpet or force victims to withdraw their allegations, victimize or stigmatize them. Women dignity and self respect should outweigh whatever challenge they face, we shall support fully to ensure a sexual abuse free society for our female students.

Universities should have clear sexual and violence policies that will protect students and the sanctity of the educational system. Also, Universities need to be accountable for the well being and care of the students, ensure justice for survivor of sexual abuse and the political will to prosecute and punish offenders.

We commend the BBC team for their hard work, bravery and tenacity to expose the ills facing students in the country’s tertiary institutions. We urge the society to desist from shaming survivors of sexual abuse, rather name, shame and punish offenders to serve as deterrents to others.

In a press release by Comrade Busari Adelaja, Chairman National Association of Nigerian Students, Lagos State, with identity digits 07012743588 also advocate for a safe environment that would enable women share their experiences without fear, and ensure diligent investigation and prosecution of offenders of such allegations. We collectively amplify their voices against issues of sexual harassment and abuse against girls and women.

CrimeBanks In Ondo Shut Down Due To Threats From Boko Haram by Honbright(op): 7:16pm On Nov 01, 2019
Rumours of impending attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in Ondo state have forced some commercial banks to halt operations.

A letter reportedly addressed by a security agency to Undie Adie, the state commissioner of police, had alleged that the group was planning to attack banks in Akure, the state capital, Owo and Akoko areas of the state.

This caused banks in the said areas to shut down, preventing people from engaging in banking activities.

The state police command, however, has assured the people that it has put adequate measures in place to ensure the security of their lives and property.

EducationEkiti Varsity Lead Protest Against SUG, Set University Up For Sale(photos) by Honbright(op): 10:02am On Nov 01, 2019
Ekiti state university students lead protest against the students' union representatives of the school, VAM News reports.

Angry Eksuites set the State University up for sale over unnecessary dues they are been made to Pay.

VAM News recall the students of the university are been forced to do revalidation so as to retain their studentship.

The revalidation is up for all levels 100-500 levels and the student think it’s getting to much because they are made to pay some certain money in the act of revalidating their studentship (Extorting them unnecessarily).

The revalidation process isn’t fair to the student as been heard because they are meant to provide all the tellers of their payment into the school account from 100 level to their present level in the school academic session, but necessary and unnecessary tellers must be provide.

The cause of this led to a peaceful protest of the students in the early hours of yesterday against the SUG protest (Thursday).

CelebritiesDavido Made Illegal Arrest, Popular Blogger Alerts Security Personnel(photos) by Honbright(op): 10:39am On Oct 30, 2019
Popular supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari on social media came hard on popular musician, David Adeleke aka Davido, for handcuffing and parading two women who had jokingly accused him of impregnating one of them.

Davido’s hype man, known as Special Spesh, had posted a video on Instagram showing the two women, Helen and Susan, handcuffed and sitting on a chair in a living room.

Spesh could be heard telling one of the ladies to lift up her head or get a slap in the face.

Davido also shared the video, defending the action of his sidekick.

However, some of Buhari’s supporters on social media reminded Davido how he attacked the President during the Osun governorship election but was never touched.

They accused the musician of being a hypocrite and abuse of power.

Popular Buhari supporter, Kayode Ogundamisi, said on Twitter that Davido would have abused power if his uncle had emerged as the governor of Osun State

He tweeted, “Imagine Davido as first Cousin in Osun State with his uncle Isiaka Adeleke as Governor and Buhari is meant to be the tyrant o!”

other Buhari supporter, Jack Obinyan, said Davido should have left the women alone after they apologised for the prank.

He tweeted, “After the public apology, why will the girls be handcuffed and dehumanized in that manner?

Davido is crap! Who arrested him for all the nonsense he said during the Osun elections?

I dislike this guy now.”

Olorungbotemi Tunde Bright, Popular Blogger said;

"Those ladies were arrested and handcuffed in a living room.....

Law of natural justice should take effect.

A civilian can't arrest a fellow."

“This same Davido has been calling the President of Nigeria, Buhari a tyrant ooo, imagine his brother was governor, just imagine it for a minute “They (the women) defamed him, true, but it is a civil case, not a criminal offence.
