In her own little way of commitment through contributing to the fight against coronavirus in her state, Ogun. Meanwhile, the state governor who was obviously impressed with what the little girl did, said he was proud of her. His message on Twitter read: "Not all superheroes wear capes. Little Oluwashikemi Ogunleye, who is our youngest donor so far, used the State USSD to donate 950 Naira to the Ogun State COVID-19 Pandemic Support Fund." He asked the little girl to continue to be generous. He also prayed for God Almighty to bless the people through recovery from this pandemic on the grounds of her kind heart. Also, Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president of Nigeria also thanked Kemi for her donation. According to Atiku, the coronavirus pandemic which is ravaging the world will be defeated as everyone unites to fight it. According to him, his daughter operates a piggybank account from where she withdrew N1,000 to donate. The amount was reduced to N950 after transactions charges were deducted. A 39-year-old identified as Mr. Abass Oyebanji and a yet-to-be motorcyclist rammed into a speeding car belonging to an officer (name withheld) on Thursday, 2nd April in Osogbo. VOICE AIR MEDIA gathered that the accident occured at exactly 7:50pm yesterday at Odi-Olowo, Jaleyemi junction in front of Embassy Food Canteen in Osogbo, the capital of Osun state. The two victims were rushed to the LAUTECH Teaching hospital, Osogbo, Osun state with hopes that they would be saved. The accident victims were rejected by Lautech Hospital and were referred to the State Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo. According to VOICE AIR MEDIA report, the victims were almost rejected by Asubiaro hospital as a result of lack of First aid while the victims suffer severe pains. While speaking with one of the victim, Mr Abass, was lamenting of pains while the motorcyclist couldn't speak to newsmen due to the severe pains incurred. According to reports, the medical personnel were scared to admit them as a result of lack of first aid amenities in the hospital. In a bid to save the lives of the accident victims, good Samaritans and a journalist in the state who were at the scene pleaded to no avail but the victims were finally accepted after several calls were made to the Special Adviser on Public Health to Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and the Commissioner of Police in the state. While speaking with an eyewitness, said, the recurrent question is: if the hospital admit and treat such patients, who will pay the bills? When there is no first aid. Another eyewitness who could not hide his disappointment said, "what does one do when institutions entrusted with our very lives betray that trust in one's most vulnerable moment? For many people like me, it is bad to discovered that a state owned hospital lack common paracetamol, glove and emergency or immediate care a hospital should provide when a person Is injured or ill until full medical treatment is available for accident victims, he said. Reacting to the incident, Comrade Olorungbotemi Bright urged Governor Gboyega Oyetola to provide reactionary measure, boost and revitalize health sector in the state. There is currently tension in Arimogija under Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State following the brutal killing of a farmer and his son by suspected Fulani herdsmen, VOICE AIR MEDIA has gathered. The victims – Mr Oguchi Jacob and Adura Jacob were killed while on their farmland around 12pm on Tuesday. Another son of the farmer, who was identified as Eneku, was also hit by bullets fired by the hoodlums and is in a critical state in the hospital. Wife of deceased, Joy, who spoke with Newsmen on Friday morning, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been reported to the police. She said that the killing of her husband and son triggered a protest in the village as the locals demanded the intervention of the government over incessant attacks on them by herdsmen. The incident has already forced many of the residents of the agrarian community to abandon their homes over fear of renewed attacks. “We were inside the community when we heard shouts that Fulani herdsmen had killed a man and his son on their farmland while working. “This is not be the first they will be doing this evil to us. There was a time they attacked a farmer and buried him in a shallow grave. “They come with their cattle and destroy people's farms and if you challenge them, they become aggressive and try to kill you,” one resident said. Another villager, said they saw a helicopter dropping weapons in the forest for Fulani herdsmen. He said, “We saw a helicopter dropping some items we suspected to be weapons for herdsmen in the forest and we called the attention of the police to it. “What I am telling you is the fact and if you see some of the weapons in the hands of these herdsmen, you will understand this.” Police spokesperson in Ondo State, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident during a chat with our correspondent. Residents of the State of Osun on day 2, Thursday complied with the lockdown order given by the state government to curtail the outbreak of coronavirus in the state. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has ordered the immediate investigation into the allegations of rape and physical assault leveled against the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulmumini Danga. In a statement released in Lokoja, the state Commissioner for information and communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said the governor has mandated that an investigation be carried out to ensure justice is served. “The governor, being an avowed advocate of fundamental human rights is shocked by these allegations and will not allow them to go uninvestigated. The governor has ordered accelerated investigation into the matter and hereby assures both accuser and accused, as well as the general public, that the whole truth will be uncovered and justice served as appropriate. We will not tolerate violence against women or children under any form or guise. We give our word that if these allegations are proven, everyone found culpable will be brought to justice” the commissioner said. Recall that Elizabeth Oyeniyi, a resident of the state, came out to accuse Mr Danga of physically and sexually assaulting her over a facebook post she made about him on her page on March 29th. Oyeniyi had published a post asking the Commissioner to be generous to his immediate family as he is with members of the public. She said this infuriated the Commissioner who she alleged arranged some men to pick her up, bring her to his apartment where he flogged her and then raped her. The Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has ordered recruitment of one hundred youths for the immediate commencement of desilting and fumigation of major markets and motor parks in the state. This is part of steps to make the state free of Coronavirus since ondo state is yet to record any case. The governor gave the directive yesterday while speaking with newsmen at Government House ground in Akure. Following the signing of the Public Health Regulations Order, Akeredolu directed the committee on Sanitation and Traffic Rules to immediately commence the desilting and fumigation of major markets and motor parks in the state. The Governor said the formidable committee, which was put in place for the clearing of market roads and also enforced a clean environment has been saddled with another reaponsibility of fumigating and disinfecting the market and motor parks environment for the good of the people. Akeredolu, said the state had already procured chlorine and other material, as well as many motorised spraying machines for the fumigation exercise. He added that Weewood Limited, one of the companies at the Ondo-Linyi industrial hub has also donated 50 drums of ethanol, while a minimum of five Hilux pick-up vehicles have been pulled from the state transport pool to carry tanks for the fumigation exercise. The governor added that since the government has announced the closure of all markets in the state, the markets and motor parks will now be fumigated and desilted for a cleaner environment. The Federal Government to curb the spreading of the deadly virus and to make a life easy for the citizens on Tuesday night reduced the price of petrol from N125/litre to N123.5/litre. VAM recalled that current petrol price indicates a reduction of N1.5 on every litre of petrol purchased nationwide. FG announced the reduction through the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, after a whole day meeting with stakeholders in the oil and gas sector in Abuja. Announcing the reduction, the Executive Secretary of the PMS pricing regulator, Abdulkadir Saidu, said, “PPPRA, in line with the government approval for a monthly review of Premium. “Motor Spirit pump price hereby announces guiding PMS pump price of N123.50 per litre. It will takes effect from Wednesday, 1st April 2020 nationwide. PPPRA and other relevant regulatory agencies shall continue to monitor compliance to extant regulations for a sustainable downstream petroleum sector.” It added, “Members of the public and all oil marketing companies are to be guided accordingly.”The spokesperson for PPPRA, Kimchi Apollo, had told our correspondent at 7.30pm that stakeholders had been meeting on the new price since Tuesday morning. Officials from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, oil marketers and labour unions, among others, who constitute the petroleum products price modulation committee attended the meeting. Recalled that on March 19, 2020, a day after the Federal Government announced the pump price of N125/litre for petrol, the PPPRA declared that there might the possibility of a new price regime for the PMS beginning from April 1, 2020. It explained that the N125/litre price might last till the end of March, as a new cost for petrol might be introduced on April 1. You will recall that three days ago, I addressed you on the first recorded case of the novel Coronavirus in the State, which was confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC. Sadly, a second person has tested positive, meaning our State now has two confirmed cases of Covid-19. Though the first case is stable and receiving adequate medical care, it has become imperative to rev up measures to keep our citizens safe. Following a review of our current situation, we have in addition to the subsisting measures taken in the past one week, decided to shut down all our land boundaries, effective from midnight, Sunday, March 29, 2020. In addition, a complete lockdown of the State will come into effect from midnight, Tuesday, March 31, 2020. We believe this is the way to go, if we must contain the spread of this virus. Fox News reported that after some social media posts claimed that a British school teacher and others cured themselves of the coronavirus with whisky and honey, bootleggers started packaging industrial alcohol to Iranians, with the misconception that it prevents coronavirus, since the consumption of alcohol is banned in the Islamic country. “Other countries have only one problem, which is the new coronavirus pandemic,” said Dr. Hossein Hassanian, an adviser to Iran’s Health Ministry disclosed. “We have to both cure the people with the alcohol poisoning and also fight the coronavirus.” But according health ministry, it is “Unfortunately in some provinces, including Khuzestan and Fars, deaths from drinking methanol has exceeded the number of deaths by the new coronavirus,” Hassanian said. The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Monday, ordered all courts in the country to shut down on 24th march, as part of measures to stop spread of deadly Coronavirus disease in the country, Voiceairmedia reports. In a statement issued on the official website of the National Judicial Council (NJC), the CJN, asked all Heads of Courts to suspend court sittings for an initial period of two weeks at the first instance, except in matters that are urgent, essential or time-bound according to the extant laws. “In view of the reality of the COVID-19 in the country and in order to take further preventive steps, all Heads of Courts are, from tomorrow, the 24th day of March, 2020, directed to suspend court sittings for an initial period of two weeks at the first instance, except in matters that are urgent, essential or time bound according to our extant laws. “Your Lordships are hereby directed to bring the content of this circular to the notice of all stakeholders in justice administration, please.” However, the directive by the CJN may delay the trial of Prophet Alfa Babatunde and five other members of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, at an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure over the alleged missing of one year old boy, Gold Kolawole. Recalled that Baby Gold got missing since 10 November, 2019 and this led to arrest of Pastor Babatunde and his church workers and their trial had started since last month before Justice Olusegun Odusola. During the last sitting of the court six days ago, Justice Odusola adjourned the case till April 6, 2020 for further hearing of the case, after mother of the missing boy, Mrs Modupe Kolawole testified against the Prophet. Modupe Kolawole was the third principal witness to be examined and cross- examined on circumstances sorrounding Gold’s whereabouts. After over 8 hours of proceedings on March 20, Justice Odusola adjourned the case till the 6th April to enable the four remaining witnesses of the state give their testimonies. The General Secretary, National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has threatened that the union would be forced to embark on strike to protect its members against COVID-19. Ajaero made this known on Wednesday in a letter to the Minister of Power, Mr Sule Mamman, after he reported to work on March 23 from a trip to Germany and Egpyt. He said the minister did not self isolate himself for the compulsory 14 days. According to him, the minister will be solely responsible for the transmission of COVID-19 to any staff in Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). Ajaero said that by this action the minister failed to provide adequate precautionary measures to protect staff and would be responsible for his failure to comply with the Federal Government directive. The letter read in part: “Our attention has been drawn to the return of the Minister of Power, Sule Mamman, from his trip to Germany and Egypt while on the entourage of the Chief of Staff to the President. “The minister despite the president’s directive to self-isolate reported at the office in the midst of agitation and complains from the staff at TCN Headquarters in Abuja. “If not for the intervention of the union, there would have been pandemonium at the office, on March 23. “In view of recent developments, the union wishes to state unequivocally that the minister will be held responsible for the transmission of COVID-19 to any staff in TCN.” Ajaero said that the union was giving employers in the power sector whose staff constantly interface with customers and the public, 24-hours to put adequate precautionary measures in place to protect staff. A 25-year old tiler, simply identified as Jamiu, was on Sunday crushed to death by a heavy duty truck in Osogbo. The Incident occurred at 5:15 pm at the popular Olaiya Junction, Osogbo, Osun State capital, CityMirrorNews gathered. Jamiu was killed on his private motorcycle by the driver of truck. The incident obstructed the free flow of vehicular movement for more than two hours. A witness account has it that the passenger on the motorcycle, popularly called okada, was dragged from the wheels of the truck with a broken leg. An eye witness account revealed that the driver of a trailer with registration number Lagos: LSR140 XV coming from Gbongan road refused to wait for one the trafick light that had stopped him and swerved to crush the motorcyclist to death. It was gathered that another driver of a wine colour Toyota Camry car, marked Lagos APP 821 CX on a right of way, coming from Odi-Olowo was also bashed by the trailer but was lucky not to have been killed. But Jamiu was on his motorcycle marked Osun: SGB 014 UH, waiting for his turn to be released by the trafick light, when to the trailer crushed to death. It was also gathered that two ladies on the motorcycle with the deceased jumped off when they saw the trailer facing the direction. Security men, including the men of the Department of State Services, the police, the Federal Road Safety Commission had an hectic time preventing irate mob from setting the trailer ablaze. By Tunde Olorungbotemi, Idanre Following the fear of suspected case of the dreaded coronavirus in Ondo State, Rep.Tajudeen Adefisoye has counselled the constituents of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency not to dismiss the dangers that the deadly corona virus could pose to human health. Adefisoye encouraged his constituents and the good people of Ondo State at large to heed the expert advise of regular washing of hands with soap, social distancing and the use of hand sanitizers. He also urged his constituents that cannot afford to buy hand sanitizers to prepare the mixture of lime with the local ‘ogogoro’ drink, which he described as equally effective. In a similar vein, Adefisoye has urged his constituents to avoid large gatherings of people that are more than 20, pending when a vaccine will be developed for the corona virus which is fast assuming pandemic status across the world. Also, the lawmaker has counselled his constituents to avoid travels that are not compulsory, particularly inter-state journeys; in order to avoid having body contacts with carriers of the most deadly disease. However, Adefisoye has appealed to parents in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency to ensure that their children and wards whose schools have been shut on instruction of Ondo State government are kept indoor and not allowed to roam the streets. He added that school children could become vulnerable to the dreaded Covid -19 in the course of roaming the streets where there is large gathering of people. Meanwhile, in the unlikely event that any constituent of Idanre/Ifedore may be manifesting symptoms that are similar to that of Covid-19, Adefisoye has urged such individual to quickly visit the nearest government or private hospitals for appropriate medical attention. Likewise, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Army has advised anyone in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency that may have recently returned from any of the high risk corona virus countries to observe two weeks self isolation. I asked myself! this has even gone beyond gradual process, if the world is moving to the end through this virus, it is moving with high acceleration. From China to the rest of the world. Countries are closing boarders to halt movements. Economy at the lowest ebb. Sports, mosques, churches, market places, social gatherings, schools and colleges locked down. Who said this is not the sign to the end of the world? I asked myself again with a deep breath. I was actually brainstorming, if for example this lead to the judgement day, what could be regarded as my savings that would grant me salvation hereafter. Trying to recall my flaws and comparing to my good deeds. To be candid, I am a sinner like other person but I will make heaven. Few seconds later, something whispered to my ears and said: "Busy Brain, stop that gothic thought. You have a long way to go and many dreams to fulfill. Don't let the world end now. Coronavirus has come and it would go by God's grace." It was the good spirit in me that gave me the courage and cleared my horrible thoughts. Swiftly, everything fled. For the fact that am lonely, I couldn't just let go of some things. I was actually picking them one after the other. I was wondering why the whole China who has grown old with grey hairs in technologies could not find a substantial solution to the virus and US, the custodian of nuclear weapons like missile, drone could not deploy any to defeat corona virus. What a pity. I shook my head. I was not only sad but felt embarrassed that Nigerians could politicise a virus that doesn't recognize any political party. The cross carpeting and 2023 madness still remains a priority at this dire period. What a shame! Politicians are toying with a pandemic virus that has helped to kill Boko Haram. Since its outbreak, Boko Haram has remained calm and I think their back bones have stopped visiting them for the sake of corona virus. I doubt if the sponsors of Boko Haram members are Nigerians. Who knows? Irrespective of the Country or Region the sponsors might have come from, they will never know peace. I prayed. At that moment, I was in a maelstrom on why Buhari's silence should be headache. Many people calling for Buhari's head because he has not addressed the country since the outbreak is of no value. Buhari is not a medical expert. He cannot write his address himself. His speech would be prepared and that cannot change corona virus carriers' status to negative. What Nigerians need as information should come from Ministry of Health and National Centre for Disease Control and these bodies saddled with that responsibility have been doing absolutely well in sensitization, precaution measures and media orientation across the country.
