It is very possible. I have always known Buhari and his wife to have soft spot for the Amaechis, so it won't come to me as a surprise. Me I sha know Buhari's favourite is either Rotimi or Yemi. Any of the 2 is okay by me |
rayvelez:You are just being wise by half, we all know Osibanjo was never in total control of the economy, he only make suggestions to the Buhari, and he either takes it or not. Someone that was suppressed after the stunts he pulled while Buhari was away on sick leave. Someone who was almost killed, twice! Vices that outshines their bosses are rendered useless in Nigeria. But like a wise ambitious man, for him to stay alive and have a shot on his first political move, he's taking the fall for what he doesn't have full control over, the Nigerian economy. Now there is something you call contentment, and there are words they call being ambitious, obsessive and greedy. These sets Buhari, Atiku, Tinubu and Osibanjo apart. Atiku is a very corrupt greedy old Fulani man, who has cheated all is life, so you wouldn't expect him to give up (since 1992 o). Those who are technocrats go back to their professions after office. When last did you hear of Sambo in the political cycle...Okonjo Iweala, Kevin Adeosun, Adewunmi Adeshina, and the likes? They all got jobs abroad. Moreover, Osibanjo is a Pastor, Prof and SAN of the Federal Republic. What educational qualifications does Atiku have to be distinctively relevant outside politics. Never ever compare greedy career politicians like Tinubu and Atiku with seasoned technocrats. |
Very unstable man, the President cedes the Presidency to the South and this chameleon is jumping right back on the race. Very inconsistent man. ![]() Orji Kalu must be having his regrets now; regret dropping his ambition for Lawan with the hope of VP or Senate President. ![]() |
rayvelez:What more can a man who has reached the No 2 position as a politician have to lose again? A Prof for that matter, and you think he has anything to lose? Plus has he ever come out to call himself a politician? The man is a technocrat, if he loses, he will simply retire to his private practice. |
Agwotulumbe:It may seem like rubbish, but that's the ugly truth. Politics is a game of numbers. Igbos have invested and contributed alot to PDP and have always hated APC, so tell me, which of the 2 parties should be rewarding the region with their Presidential ticket? Igbos hate APC with passion, and they love PDP. Wait until the general elections, you will see how close the election results would be between Labour Party and PDP. I would really love to see an Igbo President too, but which present Igbo aspirant can win 40% in the North. If Obi happens to be the only Southern candidate at the end of the day, he will sweep the entire region by 70%, but won't be able to even get 25% in the North except someone like Kwankwaso is ready to merge with him. You see, another Igbo man has stepped down for a Northerner, i am sure he is now gunning for VP now. |
Remman:It is not about giving it my brother, the question is that, does APC have a South Easterner who is popular enough to to beat Atiku? As for SE, apart from Imo state APC stole from PDP, what has the Igbos contributed to the APC? In fact, they have been the major antagonists to the ruling party. Igbos only have the moral right to ask for the Presidential ticket from the PDP, not from the APC. As for SS, Amaechi fits the bill, but for someone whose leg is shaking at home, will he be able to beat Wike and Obi in the SE and SS? In the South West, I can assure you whoever wins from the region will be backed by everyone else, forget all these grandstanding. At the end of the day, no big party would relinquish its Presidential ticket to a region whose vote can't guarantee it victory. I am sure if Umahi wins the APC ticket for example, and Obi returns to the PDP to deputise Atiku, the Igbos will still vote massively for PDP. |
Nawa o, see as I just dey refresh Nairaland since 8pm. ![]() My bet is on either Ameachi or Osibanjo in that order ![]() |
dalass:As in ehn, it is only in Nigeria that politicians get away with these things. The CDU was in power for 16 years in Germany until last year when tsunami of defeats swept them outta power. And it all began when a key member of the party was caught on camera laughing while the former Chancellor, Merkel, was addressing the press over the loss of German lives and properties as a result massive flood. It added to the pending anger of the Germans, and they were massively voted outta power. Until our politicians start getting immediate repercussion for their actions and inactions, they will keep taking us for granted and the country will remain stagnant. |
MikoB:Abi o, you dey mind them |
Desperados dem It was Tinubu calling a sitting Governor "this one" Now Shettima is saying a whole sitting VP ought be "selling ice cream"...a whole Prof of Law. These guys keep digging this huge manhole for Tinubu's ambition. |
Aidejay:That's a thing for politicians, they love to toy with our sensibilities...same way Atiku denied issuing any statement about Deborah’s brutal killing |
DonFreshmoney:I totally agree with you on this |
The guy sha wan use physical, mental and emotional blackmail to hijack the APC ticket. If he's destined to be President, no Jupiter can stop him, but it seems things aren't working in his favour, and wetin hin hand no reach, he wan stick pull am. Wetin me just know be sey "except God builds a house, he that builds buildeth in vain". |
Abi o, because me I have been wondering o. The man said he wants them to support his candidate, not shop for one on his behalf, I thought it was Buhari that was said to have hearing problems in some quarters, not the Governors. ![]() Did he shop for you guys while you were imposing your candidates at the state level? ![]() As long as his successor is a Southerner, me nor get problem. Osibanjo or Amaechi is okay by me. If not, nah to rally round Peter Obi. Me sha know sey everything wey dey ground go dey sorted by this time next week. |
Arrogant man |
Abegi, make we hear word! So the evil and corruption you perpetuated as a cop were all politically motivated too? Or while you were negotiating on behalf of a drug cartel, nah still politicians dey pull the strings? My friend, your cup is full, drink the water and drop the cup. |
chriss100:I am glad we both agree there is a possibility of them having a coordinated attack all over the South. Now to the issue of their political class not wanting the country to disintegrate, my brother, illiterates and mentally corrupt people with assorted guns would one day grow beyond the control of their sponsors (boko haram & bandits are typical examples). We need to be prepared. My dad who happens to own hectares of farm lands (although he borrowed some of his Kinsmen to farm on) somewhere in Ogun State told me last week that they have taken over almost all the forests in State. Their body language speaks volume, they are prepping for the ultimate war, and voting Atiku would be a huge huge mistake. |
See as pikin set, yet she'l wasn't satisfied with how beautifully God moulded her. Something must kill man, sadly she used her own money to buy her own death. |
LastProphet:Although too blunt, but you captured it well enough. Very true! But not all of us are fools, just that majority are. |
Igbojew:Really, then I wonder whose house is burning now, South East I don't hide behind a finger, I say it the way I feel. I don't trust Peter Obi to deliver, not because he's Igbo, but because of how he handled Anambra while he was Governor. You can't be an average Governor and be relying on that to become President. Knowing stats doesn't translate to being a good President. If he's the last Southerner standing, to break the Northern hegemony, I will pick him over another Fulani man. |
torqque7:Amen, may God help us to reason well and do the right thing, at the right time, Southern Nigeria can't survive another 8 years of Fulani rule, there will be no coming back from the effect on the region |
![]() |
The political class and the masses alike are the reason things are going South in the region. A Southern President would have curbed the excesses of these killer Fulani marauders and their Fulani allies in the military. That's why I like Obasanjo, during his reign, he crushed the heads of perceived dangerous groups irrespective of the region they emanated from, and he did so before they could become a menace to the society. After the revelation by the kidnapped and released Methodist Prelate, it beats me how any sane Southerner would ever want to promote another Fulani man to replace Buhari. For someone who couldn't boldly criticise the senseless and brutal killing of Deborah, how would he be able to to tackle his brothers who says "their intention is to buy weapons with the proceeds from their kidnapping business, to claim their lands in Southern Nigeria". If a Southerner is refused the APC ticket, I will implore we all rally round Peter Obi in the South, let PDP and APC cancel themselves out in the North. I am sure most of North Central would tilt towards a Southern President too. I must be sincere, I personally don't trust Peter Obi, but I would vote him if he's the last Southerner standing, we must break the devilish advancement of these Fulanis, they have a plan, and they are not hiding it anymore. They have taken over our forests, and taken over the okada business in the South. Imagine they announce through their transistor radios that they should attack us in the middle of the night, with the military apparatus in their hands, we are doomed! Southern Nigeria, let's grow beyond our differences, let's defend our lands, we can then fight ourselves later. We have a common enemy here, who is ready to turn us to 2nd class citizens on our land. |
With the revelation by the kidnapped Methodist Prelate, any Southern who votes another Fulani man to replace Buhari needs his head checked |
IgOga:What you don't understand is that, as long as the concensus isn't GEJ, apart from Tinubi, Buhari can get every other aspirant to step down for his favourite. And once that is achieved, more than half of the Governors will fall in line. The Governors that can loyally follow Tinubu to the very end are not even up to 8. It is only GEJ as concensus that can scatter APC, but a semi popular concensus like Amaechi or Osinbajo will scale the hurdle, slimly. |
Dey there ![]() If Buhari had wanted to interfere and make sure they returned elected, he would have had his way no matter whose ox is gored. The man purposely left all state Governors to do their thing without his interference, so that when he hand picks his own successor, if anyone tries to raise an eyebrow, he will refer them to how he gave them free hands at the state level. |
Tinubu and his boys are practising autocracy with impunity at the State level, but they want Buhari to be democratic at the Federal level. Well sha, the man don give them a hint of what to expect before jetting out yesterday. |
Indifferent12:It is sickening ![]() I learnt her father abandoned them while she was young, maybe she tries to take her anger out on every Nigerian she meets. |
garfield1:Installing as in cheiftancy title, kingship or autocracy? ![]() He knows he can't install an unpopular candidate, considering the person is squaring up against Atiku. GEJ will dismantle the party. And the likes of Onu and Co that are being mentioned will lose b4 12noon on election day. Except of course he wants Atiku to have a smooth sail. And I won't be surprised considering he acted as the groom's father during Yusuf Buhari's wedding. I don't trust Fulanis with power. |
