Calgary Police are investigating the death of a 49-year-old Nigerian man after an altercation with border services officers at the Calgary International Airport on Tuesday. According to the Canada Border Services Agency, two CBSA officers were trying to deport the man from Canada when the altercation happened on the plane as it awaited takeoff from Calgary. According to CBC, the man "went into medical distress" and was rushed to hospital, where he died. Police, who have not publicly identified the man, said it will be months before full details can be released about the man's death. But documents from the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada Immigration Division identify the man as a Nigerian citizen who had been engaged in a lengthy battle to stay in Canada. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is not naming the man until his next of kin has been notified. An autopsy performed Wednesday did not confirm a cause or manner of death. Further testing can take up to six months, said Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm with Calgary Police Service's homicide unit. "We will do a complete, thorough investigation. These investigations take time, and like any investigation, especially in this investigation, we're going to wait for official autopsy results to come back," Chisholm told reporters at a news conference Thursday. The man was on board a KLM flight destined for Amsterdam when he had an altercation with two CBSA officers who were trying to remove him from the country. The altercation took place prior to takeoff from Calgary. The plane was forced to return to the gate, where the CPS airport unit was called to the scene. Officers found the man in medical distress. He was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to police, the altercation with the border officers took place around 3 p.m. He was officially declared dead an hour and a half later. The two CBSA officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. They have since been released. A detention hearing transcript from the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada Immigration Division on July 26 said he was detained on the grounds that he likely wouldn't appear voluntarily for his flight, due to comments he made saying he wouldn't allow himself to be removed from Canada. He first arrived in Canada in 2005, making a refugee claim at Fort Erie. The claim was abandoned, and then reopened, and then refused by the board in 2008. He filed two humanitarian and compassionate applications between 2009 and 2013, but both applications were denied. In 2014, he applied for leave and judicial review of that decision, but that was denied as well. The immigration board undertook a pre-removal risk assessment on him in 2015, to study if he would be in danger or at risk of persecution in Nigeria, and the assessment found he was not at risk. "[He] is adamant that he will face harm if he is returned to Nigeria and he has consistently told officers that he will not return to Nigeria on his own and that he would only go back if he is forced to," the transcript reads. An interview between the man and the High Commission of Nigeria recounted in the transcript noted that "[his] removal would likely be violent and advised CBSA to take caution." "This is a life and death issue," he said in the hearing, according to the transcript. "I told the officer if you are asking … 'You are sending me to my death.' It's like you are asking me to drive into a ditch … very dangerous for me." He said he worked full-time in Canada and would continue to show up to CBSA hearings. "I'm not asking for money, I'm not asking for housing, I'm not asking for medical help, all I'm asking for is please, your honour, save my life." However, the immigration officer speaking at the hearing said in the past, he had told officers that, "I understand that you have concerns that I will cause an issue that will disrupt my removal. You are absolutely correct about this. I will cause a big issue and will not go." He had no family in Canada and few friends, an immigration officer said in the hearing. Police are still interviewing witnesses and are looking to speak to everybody and anybody who was on the flight or who may have seen something. They are also working with authorities in the Netherlands to conduct interviews with the flight's passengers. Sergeant Chisholm said based on the information they have now, he does not anticipate charges will be laid in the case. https://www.torimill.co/travel/9379/nigerian-man-dies-during-altercation-with-canada-border-officers-as-they-try-to-deport-him.html Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

There's a trending debate on Twitter regarding women and childbirth and this debate has led to a lot of revelations. Mothers took to Twitter to narrate all the complications that childbirth entails and how they do not want to have many children as a result. But some men felt it was selfish of them to choose to have only a few kids because they don't want to go through the pains of childbirth, and called them out for it. One male Twitter user, who goes by the moniker Dr Maxvayshia, wrote; "All the ladies on here saying just 1 child is enough for them cos of the stress of childbirth, you know if our mothers had this same attitude, many of you wouldn't even exist today to tweet stuff like that right?"In reply, a lot of women shared stories of women who died because they pushed their bodies beyond what it could do. One story stood out because of how tragic it is. Narrating the incident, Vashti wrote; "When I was doing my internship,a lady died on the operating table because her husband couldn't make up his mind about having her ruptured uterus removed cos she's had only female kids.that was his concern.male child.the lady bled out and died."https://www.torimill.co/viral/9329/lady-died-after-her-husband-refused-to-allow-doctors-take-out-her-ruptured-womb.html

Patrick Okumu-Ringa, who lost in the recently-concluded Nebbi Municipality Parliamentary election in Uganda, has dismantled all the boreholes he had sunk that have been supplying water to residents for the past twenty years. Okumu-Ringa, who is said to own huge chunks of land in the municipality, had about 10 boreholes drilled in different wards. The former public service state minister accused the area residents of abusing his generosity by not supporting his bid for MP. The process of dismantling the boreholes started on Monday and was concluded on Wednesday, three days after the election results were announced. For close to 10 years, Okumu-Ringa was Padyere County MP, but lost the seat to UPC’s late David Ringecan in 2006. Since then, he has tried to make a come-back in other elections in vain. During the NRM primaries, Okumu-Ringa lost to the new entrant, Suleiman Hashim. He, however, chose to run as independent, claiming his defeat during the primaries was as result of rigging. In the recent election, Okumu-Ringa came third after securing 1,270 votes out the 9,940 total votes cast. He lost to Hashim, who scored 4,283 votes, with FDC’s Robert Onega coming second with 4,159 votes in the highly-billed election. Okumu-Ringa confirmed to Sunday Vision that he had indeed dismantled the boreholes, adding that he had no regrets for his action. He, however, said at an appropriate time, he would reconcile with residents and assemble the boreholes. ; “I am hurt, but I will reconcile with them. However, for now, let them look for water elsewhere. Our people are not appreciative. All I wanted from them was votes. I have educated so many children, but all they tell me is I have done nothing,” he said. Asked whether he was hurting the Government he once served, Okumu-Ringa said the Government should instead pay him for supplying free water to citizens. “I don’t think the Government should be offended. I used my money to sink the boreholes, and in any case, even National Water and Sewerage Corporation doesn’t supply free water. https://www.torimill.co/world/9320/uganda-ex-minister-destroys-10-boreholes-he-built-after-he-lost-an-election.html

In response to a tweet made by a Nigerian lady on Twitter which says; "The average Nigerian man is an unexposed, belligerent, unteachable, desperately unrepentant dimwit" A Nigerian man has taken to his Instagram page to blast Nigerian ladies who are entitled narcissist, feels money and gifts are her rights even when she does absolutely nothing. Read what he wrote below; "I honestly feel bad for Nigerian men who have never experienced relationships with non-Nigerian ladies and I'm not talking about overseas. Even Ghanaian or Kenyan women. The AVERAGE Nigerian woman is a self entitled narcissist, who feels money and gifts are her rights even when she does absolutely nothing for you, not even hold a good conversation either in person or via text, typing like someone with epileptic seizures with the annoying abbreviations. The average Nigerian woman will go on a date with every Tom, dick, Harry and all his uncles just for a chance to get a free meal and movie tickets. The average Nigerian woman sees spending her money on dates as a Taboo, but is quick to talk trash about having "vex money", lol nobody cares about your vex money, come with actual spending money. Apparently, the authorities in various countries are tired of the #InMyFeelings challenge where people hop down from moving cars to dance to Drake's new song and they are doing something about it. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has put up a highway sign to make sure Oklahomans are driving safely and there a bit of humour in the sign. "Keke, do you love me? Are you riding? Say you'll never ever leave from beside me," goes a line in Drake's song, In My Feelings. But the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, ODOT, officials are asking Drake's Keke (whoever she is) to stay in her car while riding and buckle up. "Keke, are you driving? Then buckle up and pay attention because you've got us in our feelings over all this unsafe driving. #WorkZoneWednesday #InMyFeelingsChallenge #KekeChallenge #KikiChallenge," ODOT officials wrote on highway signs. A lot of people have found the sign hilarious and it's easy to see why. https://www.torimill.co/travel/9212/buckle-up-keke-stay-in-your-car-highway-sign-reads-amid-trending-inmyfeelings-challenge.html Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

Nigeria female presidential aspirant, Eunice Atuejide has earned the ire of social media users after she objected to being called a feminist and said it makes her want to puke. The 39-year-old legal practitioner who founded National Interest Party, NIP, said she believes in an equal and fair Nigeria for all but said she can never be a feminist. It all started when she went online to complain about gender inequality after male presidential candidates had a consultative meeting on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, and left the female aspirants out. She said what Fela Durotoye and other male presidential aspirants did was gender inequality, then in the same breath said she is not a feminist and can never be, thereby contradicting herself. Her words made her lose the support of social media users who told her they wouldn't vote for her since she couldn't educate herself on what feminism means. They reminded her that feminism is the same thing as gender equality and that she is able to run for president only because feminists fought and paved the way for women to be represented, else she would have been forced to stay at home to take care of her husband and five kids. Davido’s uncle and B-Red’s Dad, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who is Osun state’s PDP gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming election, has been accused of not graduating from Jacksonville State University (JSU). Senator Ademola Adeleke’s profile on the National Assembly website, reads that he has a Diploma in Criminology from JSU and graduated in 1986. He also graduated from Ede Muslim Grammar School, Osun State, where he obtained an Ordinary Level Certificate. However it was reported that authorities of the public university located in Alabama, United States , revealed that the politician didn’t graduate from the University. The report on Davido’s uncle reads in part; Senator Ademola Adeleke’s profile on the National Assembly website, reads that he has a Diploma in Criminology from JSU and graduated in 1986. He also graduated from Ede Muslim Grammar School, Osun State, where he obtained an Ordinary Level Certificate. According to recently circulated claims , Adeleke registered for GCE O’ Level in 1981 but had F9 in English Language and was recorded absent for other subjects. It also said he has no degree from JSU where he registered as Jackson Ademola Adeleke, while providing what it titled as official records of his enrollment. Dele Adeleke, Ademola Adeleke’s junior brother, has denied the allegations and encouraged those who disagree to verify the senator’s result at his alma mater. “Do you think the APC would not have raised the issues if he did not have the authentic certificates?” he had asked. The ICIR can, however, confirm that Adeleke did not graduate from Jacksonville State University, though he has claimed otherwise. Buffy Lockette, the Director of Public Relations at the university, in response to a mailed enquiry, told The ICIR that though the senator enrolled at the tertiary institution, he was not awarded any degree. “Your request was forwarded to me,” started Lockette. “According to our records, he attended JSU but did not graduate. I cannot provide any additional information. Perhaps you can learn more at http://www.studentclearinghouse.org .” When The ICIR checked the West African Examination Council’s website to view Adeleke’s O’ level result using examination number 19645/149 as circulated, the site replied, “result not available for this candidate in the specified year and exams diet”. The Council’s online result verification portal, which claims to contain data from 1980 to 2018, was also consulted with the same details. The result was brief: “candidate does not exist”. Demianus Ojijeogu, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, told The ICIR all candidates’ results are in the custody of the Council and should be accessible on the website, regardless of performance in the examination. https://www.torimill.co/politics/9035/osun-pdp-candidate-adeleke-didnt-graduate-from-u-s-university.html Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique

A Nigerian mother is crying out after her father-in-law raped all three of her daughters she left in his care. The devastated mother said she decided to leave her daughters, aged 5, 7, and 9, with their grandfather since holiday lessons haven't started yet. But she came home from work to see them all crying. When she asked what was wrong, they told her "grandpa was climbing them one by one". The children were taken to the hospital where doctors revealed that her eldest daughter may never be able to have kids because her reproductive organs have been damaged. It was also revealed that the grandfather was almost killed by his son - the children's father - when he found out what he had done. The randy old man has now been locked up in jail. A screenshot of the mother's SOS message was shared by activist Esther Ijiwere, who is now warning mothers not to trust anyone at all with their kids. https://www.torimill.co/metro/9020/grandfather-rapes-his-3-grand-daughters-when-left-with-them-for-the-long-holiday.html https://i0.wp.com/www.torimill.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/rape695895688.png https://i1.wp.com/www.torimill.co/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/esth338882084.png Lalasticlala Mynd44 Dominique |
A Facebook user has advised women to stop keeping their relationships secret after a man was exposed for having sex with 7 women who are popular on Facebook and none of them knew because they were keeping him private. Nora Oma Patrick said keeping your relationship private and off social media can be a good thing, but it can also be bad because you may not know that your man belongs to someone else. She advised that showing him off will ensure that you are informed by other social media users if he is married or in a relationship with someone else. Nora's advise came after a story went viral on Facebook about a married Nigerian man who had sex with 7 Nigerian women he met on Facebook, some of who are popular names. 4 of the women he slept with are reportedly friends and 2 are sisters. But because they were keeping their relationships private and away from each other, they didn't know the man was playing them. https://www.torimill.co/viral/8932/lady-advises-women-as-man-was-exposed-for-sleeping-with-7-friends-with-none-of-them-knowing.html

A northerner in support of ranching; to give Fulani herdsmen freedom for their cattle to graze in any state in the country, argued that Fulani herdsmen who go to the South in search of food for their cattle are no different from Igbos who go to the north for business. And a Twitter user replied him. Twitter user Abbas Dangi quoted Prof Ango Abdullahi, saying; "The land belongs to Nigerians and herders are Nigerians. If an Igbo man can go to the North and set up a business, Why won’t herders go to the South, including your village, to graze their cattle?" But Nigerian author, Andy Obuoforibo, did not agree that both were the same and pointed out the difference. He tweeted; "When the Igbo man goes to Kano to set up shop, does he just enter someone's compound, lay out his electronics, and start selling, and when the owners of the compound try to drive him off, shoot them?
