My mum did help my dad with bills, they were both working and both made use of their finances to hold up the family.
Now I don't see why a man would marry a woman to just sit at home and do nothing while he pays all the bills. It boils down to the kinda woman he is getting married to, I can't be in a marriage and allow my husband pay all of the bills even though I'm earning my pay, it's absurd. And it's ok to blame people for not checking properly before they marry. The particular case I referenced in my reply is a close relative. The wife was very very supportive before marriage. After marriage her sisters told her she is a fool that home expenses are 100% the man's responsibility. It's really absurd to the extend she buys ordinary toothpaste and tells the man it's her own he should go and buy his own. It's not a good story.

So no matter how much you research your partner truth is he/she can change. There are just too many influences - relatives, friends opinion etc.

There is a reason why my generation is afraid to get married and this is it. Nothing is guaranteed. It may work with the right person and it can also be a disaster in the end.
When I see stories like this I'm always cautious before aportioning blames. My brother's experience taught me a great lesson.

Truth is marriage is difficult in today's world....even scary. You need two people who are thinking right (not necessarily to please culture, religion or society) to attempt to make it work.

I will not lie, I dey insult Sha and if not for the kind of man my hubby is, him for don.commit suicide because of the things I tell him.
But the truth is that, I'm a very emotional person and I'm easily angered. Infact my hubby is the most annoying human being on planet Earth...
He has a way of getting at you and he does that on a daily basis .
So when he does that, I try to hold in the anger for days but when I can't hold it anymore, I explode... When I'm done telling him all those things, I feel better.

My advice to men...don't kill yourself. If your wife works and earn a descent wage, she is not doing you any favour whatsoever by taking up responsibility in the house. Infact marriage should be easier for both because you two, combining your resources and intellect, should be able to easily achieve more than you alone (man/woman) can achieve working alone and faster too ..... Else that Is the value of the marriage?

So, they would use their money from licences and vehicle particulars to fund one stretch of road in Lagos.

I know you Nigerians don't like taxes. But unless someone has a magic tree in a bowl of water in a room in their house that can generate one billion naira at a go...the only way that stretch of road can be well funded is by tolling it. Get rid of Alpha beta and Tinubu from the concession, but still toll it.

And extend it to other parts of Nigeria. Because our works budget...before the corruption termites and snakes get to it...is less than $3 billion per annum. For a country of 200 million people whose roads see heavy usage, and as a result break down easily. And keeping them in good repair needs far more than a budget of $3 billion.

Unless you want us to beg the Chinese for more loans, or Mama IMF for more loans...tolling is an alternative to raise money to keep our roads in good repair. You can pretend that is not the case, you can curse me, you can call me APC or PDP supporter...but the thing is...sane countries TOLL their roads.

Or maybe you do have a magic tree generating cash somewhere.

No problem boss let's toll all our roads. Toll ikorodu toad, Eko bridge, 3rd mainland, western avenue and every other road. You don't seem to understand to the toll gates are causing traffic gridlock and the problem you are creating with toll gates is more than what you are to solve. The state has yearly budget for road maintenance drawn from the state IGR. Pray tell where does that money go to?

What is the benefit of the common man if a citizen has to pay atleast twice per day to go to work and return home at after work. This is not Interstate road for crying out loud. If you live across any of the toll gates then you will understand what I'm saying

1. Low revenue from crude oil sales which means lower amount of money to subsidse petrol.

2. Low dollar inflow due to the fall in oil prices which leads to a fall in value of the naira and a rise in fuel prices


Bubu could have avoided all this by

1. Supporting GEJ whem he raised prices from N65 to N140 which would have attracted more investment in similar refineries and led to increased production of fuel and fall in fuel prices

2. A result of no 1 would have led to reduction in dollar outflow via importation of fuel and subsidy which would have put the naira in a better place

3. Diversified by supporting agricultural and industrial development as well as deregulation of the power sector so that it has the funds to fix itself up

4. Genuinely fought corruption

5. Raised taxes and widened the tax bracket by raising tax to gdp ratio to 23% or more reducing our need to take loans.
