Kopfschmerzens:They respect the US blacks in Germany cos they have a lot of them at the US Military bases there. There are many black German kids from US ancestry. Many of them play for the US National football team. I even played with one at Uni. Black guy called Fritz ![]() |
seankafor:The way Jack Dorsey sub am for the bottom of that tweet sha |
FBS:Russia is a different kettle of fish |
donjazet:As you can see from Black Panther movie where Killmonger was overconcerning himself with Akata problem and making foolish decisions for Wakanda based on his Akata approach. Leave Akata problem for Akata. |
donjazet:Question you should be asking is where in the USA can I do well? Our people are doing well there from California to New York to Texas. Obviously avoiding the Deep South like Mississippi et al. Even many Naija tech companies like Flutterwave and Paystack are getting millions in investments from Silicon Valley. I doubt those guys are asking about racism in USA. This is where one's focus should be rather than taking on another man's heightened sense of repression. |
donjazet:The reverse is the case. Those born here actually have feelings of inferiority while the Africans prosper more. The Akata born here will go into an interview thinking why will this white man give me job when all he has done is oppress my fathers and forefathers. This builds some feeling of inadequacy and inferiority where it counts - economic empowerment. Eventually they become hopeless and stop aspiring even to go through education because they see it as pointless and are uncomfortable in the white man's world. This is my point I made earlier, that we as Africans while respecting the experiences Western blacks have gone through should not imbibe their feelings and their struggles if we want to make progress in life. The ones that do generally end up in the same situation as the Akata, while those who choose not to take on their hurts generally succeed. If you come abroad with this attitude of revolt, you no go make am. Most white guys are out to do business and fill skills gaps, they are not responsible for what happened 100 years ago and are not involved with one stüpid Policeman somewhere. Most of our black brothers fail to understand this and tar them all with the same brush, thus shutting themselves out economically. |
donjazet:None that matters, although each person's experience is different, for example, the prejudice in the job market experienced by a fresh African with deep African intonation can not be compared to another person with black skin who has assimilated into the culture/accent etc. I don't know if you will call this racism or rather "When in Rome, behave like the Romans". Unfortunately, many Africans never imbibed the culture and struggled in the workplace, some went home while others settled into menial jobs. For them the prejudice is real. For highly skilled/ rare expertise like Doctors and some advanced scientists, it doesn't matter whether you assimilate or not. Hence I say in general, the Capital markets of the West do away with the racism that matters cos skills gaps must be filled whether you are black, white or yellow. When one becomes fixated with racism, he subconsciously starts to hate the country and people he is living amongst, and that person can never do well in life. One thing my father told me as a teenager that stuck with me, he said "he who rejects the land, the land will reject him, and he who curses the land, the land will curse him", and he used this as a parable to explain the economic failure of Jamaicans/West Indians/Akatas as if to say their experiences with slavery/injustice have got them obsessed with injustices and racism to the point they are not at peace with the land and cannot aspire to prosper within it. At some point through my time in London, I found myself imbibing some of these feelings within these communities and had to make a conscious decision to ignore these feelings and start making more connections and friendships outside of our community with people who are economically empowered. I still remember my final experience that blew away any cobwebs I had of judging people by their background. My whole life I had hated South African whites due to Apartheid and also one South African boy who had migrated to UK same time as me used to call me Kaffir in school till I busted his lip. Anytime I hear that South African accent, in my mind, I would just stay away from such a person until a South African Boer CFO hired me. At interview, once I heard the man's accent, I just wrote the job off. When I got there, no fewer than 4 or 5 colleagues were white SAFIs and they just blew away any preconceived idea I had about white South Africans. Funny enough, that guy was the best boss I ever had, highly knowledgeable without a shred of prejudice in him, only concerned with what skills you bring to the table. He still attended my wedding, and we still keep in touch to this day, even though he somehow decided to move back to South Africa in 2015, although he was meant to be moving to Germany today on Germany's last Covid repatriation flight from South Africa (his wife is German). So, my experience with the South Africans was the last cobweb of racism that I cleared out from my mind. I find that the issue of racism is more to do with how you remove feelings of oppression from yourself, so you can go ahead and prosper in life. Where I live right now,.I think we have one black family on our street. Most of my neighbours are old white pensioners and we all get on fantastically. At the start of this Covid period, I was the one doing shopping for 3 of my neighbours until the backlog cleared from online deliveries. Even now, they still request fresh bread and fresh fruits when I hit the shops, and in turn when the local window cleaner comes to clean all of our windows, they pay for me. The thought of racism has not crossed my mind for a long time which is why I always laugh when I see people on Nairaland assuming we are suffering racism here. I don't doubt there is prejudice toward newly arrived people in the job market for example, but I must say the UK is a fantastic country. |
timay:You are reducing this argument to a simple one and doing an injustice to Obama. It doesn't work like that. Justice lies in the hands of the courts, and if the jurors decide a policeman has reasonable cause to discharge their weapon, they will always acquit. Americas problem is unfortunately compounded by loose gun laws. Any miscommunication/aggressive racial profiling can lead to this grey area where any confrontation can easily escalate into a situation where an officer will claim "fear for their lives or public safety". This is the only legal bar the officer needs to clear to get away with murder. The strain on relations between the black community and Police means these situations will escalate frequently into fire discharge. You also have many jumpy officers who might not be racist but uncomfortable communicating with black men and cannot hold their nerve from discharging early at the first sign of confrontation. I posit that if you take guns off the streets, Police Officers discharge a lot less as they are less jumpy. Once they discharge, as long as they can prove "threat to life", they will get away scott-free regardless what Obama or any black leaders say. The legal systems protects the rights of Police to use their judgement to discharge and have to weigh up the consequences of punishing Police Officers too heavy handedly as any hesitancy in discharging could put Police and Public in danger in a genuine situation. Take the case of Daniel Shaver, who BTW was white guy. You can check the video below. He was a pest controller showing his friends his new BB gun for exterminating bird pests. Police were called. As you'll see in the video, the Policeman was too aggressive, and giving conflicting instructions meanwhile Daniel Shaver was drunk and crying. As Police asked him to crawl toward them, his pants started falling and he reached for his belt to hold his pants up. That was the end of his life as they discharged on him for that action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBUUx0jUKxc Guess what the jury would have to consider in this case? Regardless of the obnoxious Police officers aggressive behaviour, the verdict on a murder charge will hinge on if the Police considered themselves in danger in the instance he reached for his belt. The answer can easily be argued in court to be yes. They did, and got away scott-free. The discharging officer even retired early on full pension citing PTSD from the court case. Guess what in legal eyes, his aggressive behaviour toward Daniel does not matter. Aggressive behaviour is not murder. The murder verdict simply hinges on whether the officer was in fear of his life when Daniel reached for his belt. This is the way of America where any small disagreement will have one or both parties in fear for their lives. In the words of Jay-Z, the Police and the Courts enshrine the rights of Policemen and even some citizens to "squeeze first, ask questions last". Although we don't have armed officers in UK, I personally keep my conversations with Police extremely cordial, although I've had very few, but if I'm just walking past Police, I greet them for example. |
larride:Once the big shareholders like America and the European countries threaten to withdraw funding Adesina is done for. Independent investigation means there will be no cover up, infact those Ivoriens will be happy to air his dirty laundry to the investigators. I read some of the allegations. Adesina thought he is still in Nigeria. Infact by Nigerian standards, his crimes are mundane, and amount to nepotism, overpaying some Consultants with whom he has a conflict of Interest, possibly inflating some contracts, and wasteful spending on personal events from company funds. But in the Western world, they will frown at such crimes. The minute USA and the European partners threaten to withdraw funding, nobody will tell Adesina twice to resign. If France get involved, even if Adesina was innocent, they will make sure the direction of the bank is steered toward Francophone interests. |
Coutinho14:I read somewhere that that officer has been investigated in 3 shootings before now including one fatality. All the names.of the victims were either Latino or black sounding. TBH, the bar on joining the Police is too low. I remember my friend Omar in college. He always stressed that he doesn't need to pass cos he is aiming to join Police and he was dumb as a dodo. So what stops any dumb racist from joining the Police force. Infact if I was a racist and not very bright intellectually, the Police is the first place I'd apply because they pay better than other unskilled labour and I can get satisfaction from having power over blacks in that position. On an aside, my old friend Omar caused a media storm in UK, 4 years after we finished A Levels by refusing to guard Israeli embassy cos Israel was fighting war with Lebanon at the time, and his wife was Lebanese while he was Syrian. Police force later got their lawyers to clear up the controversy by giving excuse that he was scared of reprisals from Muslim extremists. Anyway, I gathered from the media reports that he had gone high up in the Police cos he was special forces, handling heavy weaponry. I thought if this dumb guy can go this far in Police in 4 years, that means I should always see any Policeman I come across as some dropout who is only doing this job cos they don't have brain to succeed elsewhere. https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2006/oct/05/ukcrime.uknews21 |
That Adesina guy look like just another in a long line of well packaged intellectuals who reveal their true Naija personalities eventually. Once a CEO's conduct becomes the subject of Ethics Committee investigation and your largest shareholders are hinting they believe very serious allegations against you, it is time to resign. |
kushercain:Nobody want pay that money jare. Football done change This Werner guy sef, I no too trust am since 2018 World Cup. He looks like activity forming striker that pull wide well well but lacking punch in the 18 yard box. |
kendrick9:Feel free to list his assists General team play, Amokachi was a beast by the way. The only forward who also counts as a midfielder |
afrodoc2:12 goals in 87 appearances when him no be Emile Heskey |
kendrick9:I'm still waiting for someone to show me a Kanu AFCON or World Cup goal, then we can have this conversation. |
Finidi is right about Super Eagles all time 11. No Kanu

Chrisus:FBI have taken over the matter. I fully expect a murder charge for the criminal leaning on his neck and accessory to murder or manslaughter charge for the others All USA needs to do to get rid of this problem is make a good example out of erring officers and they will start to act with common sense. All of this sort of thing has been going on in the past but the advent of camera phones have brought these issues to light where it would be dismissed as hearsay in the past |
Coutinho14:Disgusting. https://www.nairaland.com/5884659/george-floyd-dies-after-minesota |
Twitter done dey put fact check links on Donald Trump tweets. About time someone started fact-checking that compulsive liar. |
airmark:I'm a cheerful giver so far as it does not affect my plans for my family. Funny enough, I don't even know nor ever met that niggas mum cos she abandoned them as kids. Their dad was the one raising them on the salary of gardener/handyman in our estate, while she left him to look for greener pastures. That means the minute he got that money from me, and his mum called, he considered me mugu to be passing around my number to his mum I don't even know |
donjazet:There is someone in your village right now telling stories of how you used to play football and climb calabash tree together when you went home on school holidays, probably telling people you have forgotten him in the City. That doesn't mean much. Real friendships are built in adulthood by choice, not a consequence of where your parents decided to live or which village you come from. That nigga doesn't know Kelechi, he is just describing childhood play. I have friends I grew up with primary school to secondary school throwing conspiracy theories and fake news around every day on Facebook. Maybe that person in their mind thinks we're friends. What will I discuss with that person as an adult? |
airmark:Guy we were playing computer games, running in the bush, climbing trees, playing table tennis and counterball and swimming in Ipukulu river through primary and junior secondary. I guarantee I'm not in touch with any of the niggas I did the above things with for neighbourhood. My last trip to Naija in 2014, I gave one of those niggas £200 to share with his brother, next thing I know his mum was calling me within few minutes asking me to remember her and add her own. When I came back to UK na so my phone dey flash with their missed calls upandan. The man never said he did anything with Kelechi pass this. If he had said how he was visiting Kelechi and helping him when Kelechi was in academy, then he could have a point. As of when Kelechi was hustling to enter Under-17, this man has already lost touch a long time ago. |
Victornezzar:Dude never gave a timeline of when he was with Kelechi The timeline sound like primary school things, highest junior secondary. As of 2013 when Kelechi was playing U-17, he had long lost contact So how many of your primary school friends do you still relate with? Not talking of the ones you kept in contact after primary. Even secondary school friends is not enough to stay close throughout life |
20 children cannot stay together for 20 years. |
airmark:You follow your God out of appreciation for creating you, and any benefit you want in life, you create for yourself. We don't follow Fenibeso for Juju boost in our lives. |
ToyinDipo:No actually, Einsteins is already recognised as being more precise but for what we need to do, Newtons is sufficient. It's just the difference between Newton observing what his eye can see, and Einstein observing a more intergalactic picture. |
airmark:He can as well follow Sango or Oduduwa, as long as he ascribes them their proper respect as his creator. Fenibeso is my way of showing unshakeable faith in the creator through my own cultural lens rather than another man's culture. |
ToyinDipo:Einstein just built on Newtons foundation and added the time dimension, and can help make Mathematical accuracy more precise over vast interplanetary distances, but as for what we need to do around earth, Newtons Gravitational constant is accurate enough. |
Segedinho:I hope you know there are mathematical formulas for this, that can tell you the Gravitational force of an object. For example Earths gravitational force is 9.8m/s2. That means anything you drop will observe more or less that acceleration. And you can test and affirm this thousands of times and still arrive around that 9.8 figure for acceleration/gravitational pull. When will JuJu pass this level of scrutiny for us to verify? You also have a Gravitational force formula, F = GMm/r2 which has again been proven over multiple experiments and which shows why you have no gravity in space due to it's distance from earth, being r in the above formula. Someone calculated all these, even calculated a linear velocity for satellite launch that will ensure gravity acting on it will keep it in a circular motion around earth forever . . . the satellite then provide data to your phone to allow you type on Nairaland to compare proof of the existence of gravity to the proof of the existence of JuJu! You typing on your phone right now is proof of the existence of gravity.

nitrogen:It started with mortuary water, now thumb. Either she is a good cook whose business has been moving regardless of JuJu, or she is foolish and superstitious to think JuJu can improve her business further. Or maybe some people lied on her about mortuary water, some superstitious minds such as yourself bypassing saw some piece of meat in the soup and their suspicious minds equated it to human thumb. Or maybe her accusers even planted the thumb in her soup in the middle of all the beatings. Have they taken that human thumb to Police for verification? No, just more hearsay. Either way, this is a lame attempt at proof. This belief you hold in JuJu as an educated man is dangerous. What stops you from doing Yahoo plus and rituals if you hold the belief? |
airmark:Or maybe she had a great sales personality, good portions, good food and competitive pricing, and her competitors decided to spread lies about her |
