airmark:Maybe Amoto too believe in superstitions. Maybe his body was telling him something during his dream, and he refused to wake up and deal with the matter physically, thinking he is waging spiritual war with village people in his dream. ![]() |
airmark:The nightmare was a result of a physical sensation happening to him. He could be jejely having another dream and once his body is physically in trouble, his brain will inject it into his dream. We have all woken up with what they call "pins and needles" eg when you sleep on your hand in a certain way and cut the blood supply, you wake up and need to spend a few minutes allowing blood to.drain inside that hand before you can use it. When that's happened to me in the past, I will just be dreaming jejely and somehow it will enter my dream that someone is pulling my hand etc. |
raumdeuter:People in South bury inside the house, right under the sitting room, and also bury just outside the house. I don't know why we have to go sleep in cemetary to see Ghosts. Abi Ghost no get leg to waka comot from cemetary to find who him want find? This is why I like Wily Wily. Anywhere you dey, Wily Wily go come find you.
|
Amoto94:Could it be you lost blood supply to your limbs from your sleeping position? Or some sort of bloodclot? Our doctors in the house can give you possible reasons before assuming it's village people |
Bonjovi13:Good point about purchasing power. Just building on the previous posters comparison. Although the trade off for this higher purchasing power in Nigeria is peace of mind that comes from security, adequate healthcare systems, and the knowledge that you have embedded your kids within a buoyant economy and given them every chance to build on your achievements. |
larride:No he is right. Since Nigeria decided their local laws supercede Ecowas freedom of movement (whether from Benin, Cameroon, Chad or Niger), then Ghana can also feel empowered to supercede Ecowas freedom of movement laws with their own. They actually still maintain freedom of movement, you just can't trade freely without meeting their threshold. |
chrisagyei:This Charlie must be like the larride of Ghana. He knows all their politics and laws well well. Thanks for shedding light on the situation Charlie. It's understandable. One love. |
This Chelsea thread is something else. Even Charlie found his way here. |
Kopfschmerzens:Forget Nigeria bro. The security situation is dire. Gambia would be the most peaceful place for a returnee with good security and decent infrastructure, as well as low cost of living, followed by Ghana |
Thecassanova:Yeah, it seems to hold the most promise but the most expensive. Congrats on getting your paper published. Try drop the link when it land |

Thecassanova:Oga talk better tin abeg. I read somewhere that that Remdesevir is apparently $1k per dose. If true, that is not a workable solution for 99% of the Worlds population. |
BlueRayDick:I didn't bother to respond to Donjazet original post so as not to further Civil War debate on here. Ojukwus assertion is false and actually gives insight into his militaristic thought process, and abrogation of powers he did not possess. Awo was released by a Federal Prison Service by Federal Directive a good 6 months before even the Aburi Accord. A State Governor on whose territory that prisoner was held (by a Federal Agency) has nothing to do with that process unless he has already declared war against FG, which was not the case at the time. Ojukwu on the other hand as a State Governor has no power to release a Federal prisoner The fact Ojukwu went to discuss partnership with Awo while held in his region in no way means he released Awo having been satisfied with Awos disposition. Holding Awo against Federal Directive would have involved launching an attack on the Prison Service and tantamount to declaration of war. It speaks to Ojukwus mentality and militaristic tendencies that he considered that Awo was ever within his power to grant clemency. |
larride:This may be a bad move as most Local Government leaders are despots, most in the South-South are either militants or vicious thugs who got LGA Chairman role as their reward for delivering for the Governor. LGA Chairmen commit more abuses and there are no press controls on their actions, whereas a Governor has to manage press fallout from their actions. Any further loosening of central command-and-control toward a democracy of thugs is to be discouraged. Democracy of thieves and thugs us the worst thing that can happen to a country. We already have too much Executive power in the hands of tinpot Governors. I have always maintained that FG does a much better job than State Govt and State Govt does a much better job than Local Govt. This is because FG is somewhat accountable to International bodies and International perception, while State bodies are somewhat accountable to National perception. For example you can never see FG not paying salaries for months on end unlike State Govt. Local Govt own is to do anyhow, anyhow and no one will hold them to account. On NL front-page yesterday we saw a pastor being tortured on camera for criticising Local Government. |
afrodoc2:I don't think there can be any practical study that would satisfy members of team Chloroquine cos that would require access to infected people at home with mild symptoms who have also been diagnosed. This is the most comprehensive study so far though. Although the African experience, particularly low mortality in the likes of Senegal who have an early Chloroquine deployment policy, although anecdotal is a decent argument in favour of Chloroquine. |
odizeey:No mind am. I no know why DonJ bring this kain civil war talk come here. |
afrodoc2:No, the Tom Biggar was a half-caste so it is likely say na Louis go done sire both of them, unless Ojukwu mama done run go meet white man at some stage after Ojukwu was born. |
This is the most comprehensive retrospective study on Chloroquine so far. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31180-6/fulltext It be like say I go reconsider membership of team Chloroquine, although one counterargument is that all these patients where hospitalised, mostly in the West which indicates advanced viral replication as they only hospitalise you in the West when water done pass Garri. Chloroquine advocates always argue it is too late at this stage. However the study also included a key control which is that patients had to have had Chloroquine within 2 days of Covid diagnosis. So far no study has set such criteria which favours the "taking Chloroquine early" argument, however there is still wiggle room for Chloroquine advocates to argue that Hospitalisation itself is an indicator of advanced disease in the West, as they will not admit you till things done dey red. Of 96,000 patients analysed in hospitals, 15,000 patients were given Chloroquine sometimes in combination with a macrolide like azimothrycin. Patients treated more than 2 days after diagnosis were excluded as were patients on ventilators. The death rates of the treated groups were: hydroxychloroquine 18%; chloroquine 16.4%; control group 9%. Those treated with hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine in combination with antibiotics had an even higher death rate. Age/Race/Sex/Co-morbidities were fairly evernly spread between the Chloroquine groups and Control Groups. The only argument left for team Chloroquine is to focus on the Hospitalisation argument that the virus has already proliferated by hospitalisation stage, also you have time lag between Hospitalisation and diagnosis turnaround time plus up to 2 days allowed by the study meaning these patients could be anything from 10-30 days into infection by the time Chloroquine was prescribed. There may also be Doctor bias in the Chloroquine group with the more sicker patients being prescribed Chloroquine in comparison to the control group. Afrodoc2, TheCassanova, Victornezzar, do you think this argument may still be valid for Team Chloroquine? Also how about other Zinc Ionophores such as Quercetin etc? Any benefit in that?

salford1:Don't know about N80k in Canadian dollars but N80k is £160 which is about half what an IT consultant or any professional consultant will earn at a mid management level which is around £250-£500 day rate. With adequate tax planning and usage of pension allowance, one can keep almost all of that. For paid Employees a decent mid to senior management role should yield anywhere between £150 and £300 daily before tax so you can call N80K anywhere between half a day to a full day's pay, while after tax, you can call it anywhere between half a day to 2 days net pay. |
nihilistjnr:It is not attractive at all with the kain inflation wey go soon hit Nigeria. It should be attractive to Nigerians though as some sort of hedge against the coming inflation and Naira devaluation. It's probably the best hedge available to a local Nigerian apart from holding dollars. |
nihilistjnr:Eurobond na just bond denominated in foreign currency. In Naija case, that's usually dollars. I no know why them name am Eurobond. Na dollarbond them suppose call am because dollar is the main koko for any country raising in foreign currency. |
nihilistjnr:It's just a way of Govt raising money from private entities rather than going to World Bank or other countries. For an individual, it's a way of almost guaranteeing your wealth is preserved as Govt will pay back the face value at maturity having made periodic interest payments (coupon). In developed markets, the interest payments are always quite low and barely inflation busting so it's a wealth preservation tool rather than a growth tool. In simple terms it's like I (being Govt) borrow £100 from you and promise to pay you £1 per month as interest and in 10 years time give you the full £100 back. You can then take that bond and sell it on secondary market to Donjazet who will give you £100 upfront, then you give him $1 per month. If you think it's more likely that I won't pay you the £100 at expiry, you may be happy to pay DonJ £2 a month interest just to ensure you receive your £100 from DonJ now. That means you have sold the bond cheap to DonJ by offering him more monthly interest. Also if the bond is denominated in Naira, as inflation goes up, interest rate will rise. If DonJ can put £100 in the bank and the bank interest rate gives him £2 interest per month, you can only sell the bond to DonJ if you promise him £2 monthly coupon at least to cover his opportunity cost. Meanwhile I (being Govt) already collected my £100 from you long ago and am only committed to paying £1 interest per month until the time comes.to pay back the initial £100 to whoever is holding the paper on maturity (either you or DonJ). In Nigerian case the yield is high because Nigeria's credit rating is low and there is actually now a risk of default although countries will typically hardly ever default to private investors, especially foreign investors, they would rather seek debt forgiveness from IMF than burn foreign investors. If that fails, they will default on Naira denominated bonds before defaulting on their Eurobonds. Meanwhile on the local market, they will be selling Naira denominated bonds cheap also because they don't believe the coupon rate will cover inflation and attendant increase in interest rates. It is up to an investor to judge whether they want to take the risk of holding cheap Nigerian paper. While they get sweet Coupon rate now, Nigeria may not redeem that paper at maturity. |
PoliticallyInco:A week? More like half a days salary for a professional. I believe most of these "should I stay or go" posts are just trolling. |

BlueRayDick:All unemployment figures are estimates but in the West they will call out büllshit if there is too much variance from welfare claims. I don't think anything can be read into Naija unemployment figures as they are just copy-copy of Oyinbo metrics and there is every incentive to understate unemployment in order to give the market confidence. As you say the overinflated denominator ie population figures already skew those calculations. I'm sure some mumu Oyinbo investors will still look at Naija unemployment figures before investing in Naija as that metric is a key indicator in developed economies. So it would be in Naija interest to keep that number low, and a whole industry would have been built around keeping employment figures low whilst still passing muster with IMF audits. For example, many of those millions of unemployed graduates may be marked as employed if they even make N1000 from a side hustle. What gives a level of confidence in Western employment figures is the welfare payments. Oyinbo man will not hustle for $10 on eBay and consider himself self-employed, when his Govt will probably give him $80 per week unemployment benefits. Whereas in Naija, that $10 eBay hustle will count as employment. |
BlueRayDick:UK unemployment rate is measured via a random sample of 100,000 adults so 800,000 in Nigeria is OK as a sample size. What Naija doesn't have is a sense-check mechanism like in the West they also track the no of unemployment benefit claimants. TBH, you cannot argue with any figure produced in Naija because what really defines unemployment? Whilst the average Nigerian girl baking cake and chinchin in her house after NYSC may describe herself as unemployed, one can argue she is self-employed. I am guessing if the statisticians call her as part of the 800k sample and she says she is making chinchin, they will mark her down as employed. There is no profit figure you must hit to class yourself either way. However what I know is that very few Nigerians are gainfully employed. |
eph12:It's a sleight of hand. Larride is a politician. He can take a low month during Jonathans time and compare to a high month during Buharis time |
Say what you want about larride, he is knowledgeable in his chosen subject, even though you don't agree with him, you have to engage him with a level of respect rather than mockery. |
