ornicus:Virus starts to kill after 3-4 weeks. Don't rush to shout Uhuru. Trust Naija, some people will still die at home undetected and untested. No different from any other disease we die of. |
papiforreal:These guys are catching low viral load from handshakes. They should come to hospital let patients cough in their mouth 20 times a day, let's see if they will survive. Also these guys are getting early treatment with Chloroquine and such. Most you see dying in obodo oyinbo are people who were told to go home and rest with no treatment till the virus overwhelmed them. |
Roland17:The West has allowed themselves to sleepwalk into this position, however a country with a vastly different ideology such as China should not be allowed to become the worlds superpower. They do everything wrong mate, for example Tiktok can have unfettered access to US market, yet Facebook and Google must go through great firewall and face state-sponsored competition. Everyone is playing by the same rules,.except China. The West must take some pain to confront the China issue. As Africans, we must live in fear of a Chinese superpower given their flagrant violation of human rights, and general lack of racial education. Trump was right to confront the China problem. The EU needs to go along with him. Of course companies.share price will take a hit as they seek alternative means of production. Westerners tend to panic anytime they see market movement. Do you think Chinese companies will hesitate if they receive a directive from China government that may hurt their access to markets? All Western companies should face Tarriff for exporting out of China, and also supported by Western Govts to redirect their production assets to countries that share a free market ideology. It is the only way you confront the China problem. We have capital, they have expertise. Tarriff is the only way to redirect capital to where you want it to go. Also,.paying back loan dominated in dollars is not a problem if it really came to it. They can pay by fiat if things got to that stage. |
UK Coronavirus death rate for those in ICU is 50%. That means individuals should place their focus on early treatment so as not to reach that stage. |
Roland17:Labour affordability alone cannot explain China's competitive advantage, neither can the West aim to make Labour affordable at home. China holds the whole value chain from labour affordability to skilled workforce to equipment to related and supporting industries to centralised coordination, and even internal demand factors - otherwise we would just send our manufacturing to Bangladesh. The West must make a joint and combined effort to drive production to other countries who share our ideology like they did from 1950s to 1990s which saw the rise of Taiwan, Japan and South Korea for example. That can only come in the form of tarriffs which will disincentivize companies from producing in China. |
ornicus:Bushmeat per se is not the wahala. Afterall even the fish we eat are wild animals. And we have caught swine flu from domesticated pigs and avian flu from domesticated birds. It is known that some species harbour more viruses than others and scientists have been warning for years that bats harbour 50% of the Coronaviruses in the world. China has already been stung by SARS Coronavirus from Bats in 2002, it is highly irresponsible of them to allow Bats to continue to be traded 20 years later. |
ornicus:China simply has more manufacturing power to produce the PPEs and machinery required by health professionals, and they have a centralised command structure that can react quickly to organise logistics, build hospitals etc much in the same way an army response unit would. Some people saw China stockmarket holding steady while the Western markets fell and started talking bull about conspiracy, not knowing China also has many controls over its stock market, including owning stake in every strategic company in China. The Chinese Govt would likely be buying more shares in those companies while others sell, keeping share prices fairly static. Infact any major Chinese investor trying to sell shares now would be viewed as unpatriotic by the regime, and they know it. They also know how each company contributes to the logistics effort and can coordinate them being board members of those companies themselves. Can you imagine UK was just sending out letters to companies yesterday asking them if they have the capability to manufacture anti-body kits, a full month after anti-body kit manufacturers had contacted Govt departments to say they already have the kit, only to be met by a brick wall. This is the kind of bureaucracy we are dealing with. See Trump fighting with 3M over FFP3 masks, an American company shipping FFP3 to other countries from its factories in Asia, when American doctors are getting infected from wearing the same mask for one week. As of right now, most UK Hospital Trusts have only been able to secure about 50,000 each. A friend of my sisters who owns a medical devices company said he had option on 600 ventilators which he tried to sell to UK in January. They were messing about so he sold to China. China is trouncing the West right now. After this Covid, the West needs to come together and devise a strategy for dealing with China. |
One must be deluded to think any country would infect the world with a highly transmissible virus that will also kill their own people. Sars-Cov2 most likely originated in the market as reported, but not ruling out an accidental leak from Wuhan virology lab as we've seen a couple of accidental leaks of SARS from their lab in the past. |
obainojazz:Wike and Amaechi at least did something so can't have eaten all the money. Odili did nothing, nada. He was looting in order to play on the National level, but Ribadu blocked him. |
obainojazz:SLOK looted without conscience, however his budget was low. SLOK can loot 70% of Abia budget, it still won't match a Rivers or AkwaIbom Governor looting 20% of their budget. OUK is famous for duping IBB in the 1990s, that's where he made his reputation as a fearless thief. |
raumdeuter:Ibori to Odili is like Valencia to Barca. Odili did not lift a finger to do anything in Rivers State. Even after leaving office, he has been stealing humongously through the judicial system. Odili settles cases for millions of dollars. His charge to Amaechi to win judgement vs Omehia was $10m according to informed sources. His wife being a supreme court judge, Odili sells judgements for huge fees. Odilis main source of siphoning wealth was through Ikhide Arumemi. Just the one Arumemi kept for himself was enough to buy several planes and launch Arik Air, plus several properties in UK including the family Mansion in Kensington. If the proxy is eating like this, how much more the principal? |
raumdeuter:When you talk of civilian looters in Nigeria, Jagaban, Atiku, Odili, Jonathan and Akpabio are top 5. |
raumdeuter:Hahahaha. I said at the time that Gandollar must be a good Governor from the way he was stuffing that dollar in his babariga. If you have a Governor that still practice 1960s style of corruption like Ganduje, you should be thankful. Only a Governor interested in completing projects will be taking 10-20% kickback in that manner. This is the style of corruption Kwame Nkrumah and co used to practice. The fact the kickback even fit inside his babariga impressed me. Even Buhari had to laugh at him that he is still practicing kickback style of corruption in this day and age. Other Governor's have already graduated to owning by proxy the companies they give hyperinflated white elephant projects to, or they just eat the money without declaring budget. |
chic2pimp:Nah I'm talking two weeks ago since I saw these guys. As of two weeks ago, everybody still dey shake hands and stuff. I only go in the office now on Fridays and Weekends cos some stuff is hard to do from home. |
larride:Do you think Nigeria did not lack ventilators before Covid? Is there anything such as Intensive Care in Nigeria? If UK population of 70million had 6,000 Ventilators in its' public health service before Covid and full to capacity, how many ventilators do you expect Nigeria of 200m population to have? |
chic2pimp:Yessir |
A40:Maybe FG pulled the tweet after realising Elon was doing a G-boy move. I expect many Nigerian Governors to now copy this move, importing these cheap snoring machine for $800 from China and calling it ventilator. Elon Musk is a real African. Thunder fire him dia for playing politics with such a serious situation |
Melvyn11:Even the Elon Musk ventilators is a pure scam. Come to find out they are common snoring machines. Read this https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.ft.com/content/dfc197c2-61ed-4cd6-8cb4-0ac865a47e69 |
Eruditor:Ok, so you will agree that deaths at home could be underreported? |
Melvyn11:He is using it for CSR then. He must be shipping straight from China, cos I'm pretty certain US will not allow ventilator leave their shores at this moment. |
Eruditor:What if the family refuse post mortem? |
Melvyn11:Why shouldn't they? It is up to US Govt to ban export of Ventilators, not for Elon Musk to stop producing. UK banned export of Chloroquine, while India banned export of paracetamol. Trump should do the same for ventilators. |
My colleague who sits in the office adjoining mine was tested 3 days ago and came back positive yesterday. He shares that office.with another guy who has been off for two weeks with a temperature etc but yet to be tested. I am always in that office laughing and joking with them, and vice-versa. I'm hoping some light headedness I was feeling two weeks was the same thing. I got that feeling I get when I suspect Malaria is coming like my immune system is gearing up for action. That same week my daughter came down with fever of 38.6 and requested to go to sleep straight from school. By next morning.she was bouncing around. Here's hoping I have already caught the shït and my immune system ate it up like Pacman, same with my daughter. Govt should hurry up and release antibody test. If that were the case, I go dey go shop with reckless abandon ehn. |
Eruditor:Does that not mean if the person died of Covid, that person would go unreported? |
Godx:Election really hit Atiku pocket. |
Eruditor:Who would allow them into ICU? Most hospitals now in UK look deserted if you film them. It is when you enter ICU that you will see the real koko. |
Eruditor:Deaths at home, even in the US will require family consent for post-mortem, which family may not consent to. Even, many of the ones consented to are still awaiting results. Therefore deaths are still underreported as we speak. The data may catch up later. |
Swissh:Innoson may have links in China that can source ventilator parts for him to assemble. What he needs is purchase capital from FG |
Eruditor:You are wrong. Corona deaths are being widely underreported, especially deaths at home. In UK, some hospitals require consent from your family to release your stats. In some cases, patients are termed end of life. These are the only ones you can consider as being overreported, and it is up to Hospital execs to make that judgement. We had a patient die from Corona in one of our Hospitals. The patient was given 3 weeks to live with cancer but died within couple days. The Hospital exec was arguing that it shouldn't be ascribed to Corona although she was overruled by the NHS. |
After asking Elon Musk for ventilators, does Nigeria have the drugs for intubation or Anaesthetists to run intubation? Afrodoc2, Unlimited22, how many Nigerian doctors do you know that read Anaesthesiology? |
raumdeuter:Na nonsense tinned food full house oh. I had good stock of Garri, Egusi, Stockfish, Crayfish, Ground Banga, Bitterleaf, Hake fish etc but had to deliver most to my popsie house cos he can't stomach oyinbo food too much and they wrote him not to leave the house due to age, HBP etc. I go try make one run this weekend to see if I fit restock these things. |
raumdeuter:As of 3 weeks ago, I went to DIY store and they said they'd run out 2 weeks prior.
