Let me share this. Not to discourage anyone, but I do emphasize that is difficult changing status in Canada or Australia form Graduate student to PR.

Everyone keeps hearing news it's greener on the other side, but alas its not. Am just trying to advise people to weigh their options well before jumping ship. The best way to migrate to Canada / Australia with certainty and ROI is through the permanent residence.

Ireland may not seem like the best but, there are lots of jobs opportunities.

I've been searching for accommodation for quite some time now...Next semester (starting 24th January 2019) I am supposed to go to Dublin City University for an exchange semester. I've really tried daft.ie, rent.ie, I'm almost running mad lol

I can do shared flats, shared house, student halls, one-bedroom flat...Please any recommendations will help abeg

Check Griffith Hostels or send them an email. They have hostels and you could book for a short stay.

Else, check booking.com to reserve temporary hostel for a week or 2 and you can sort the rest out on arrival.

Congrats to all those who have secured their visas. Gentle reminder on the following:

1. Make arrangements for your airport pick up especially if your University provides such for free.
2. Book temporary hostel for a week or two if you intend living off campus * You may be required to present this at the point of entry
3. GNIB / IRP will cost you 300 euros in Ireland
4. Accommodation in Dublin and Cork costs 450 euros to 700 euros
5. New rules apply if you want to travel for holidays during your academics.
6. casual job is important , but relevant job experience is importanter.
7. You are required to have 3000 euros to process your IRP.

N.B: Academic work is intense abroad and quite different from what we've done in Nigeria thus, time management is very important.

I'll suggest you consult your agent *if you got your offer through one. Ireland is not like the UK when it comes to visa requirements.

Make sure your documents are well put together, tuition fee payment is a very minimal part of the process.

My 2 cents on choice of university...

Mr "Broken Heart" mentioned if you are looking to work, earn lots of money and school , choose this school don't choose this school.

That in my opinion is misleading. September intakes have the shortest semester ever anywhere in the world so workload is always crazy, it gets better by 2nd semester.

That was why I wrote about joining Jan, feb or April intakes to make things easier- Unfortunately not all universities have these start dates and not all courses are available during this period.

Don't choose a school because of fewer lectures just for you to have longer hours for casual jobs, I advice students to always think of the long term goal, I've also been very clear that if it much better to pay all your tuition before leaving Nigeria, it takes a lot of stress off you. The amount you earn from part time jobs can cater for your accommodation and feeding * that is if you cut your coat according to your material.

Think your course through, if confused ask questions- people choose courses because its affordable or just anything to get out of Nigeria that should not be the case abeg- you're investing millions into this degree its advisable to choose what you're passionate about because when your coursework and exam results start surfacing or your coursework group start acting up its your passion for the course that will motivate you.

No one says it will be easy but then we are Nigerians nothing puts us down.

For the guy complaining bitterly about life in Ireland , you can ask those living in central london.

I lived outside london for 5 years @ Hatfield to be precise, accommodation is 4 -5 bed house, my room costs £400 per month excluding bills. As at 2015, my friend in westminster london lived in a 4 bed shared house, her rent for 1 room was £750 excluding bills.

I had 18 -20 year old nigerian party freaks as flatmates, the ones who take your stew and finish the meat @ midnight when everyone was at work, library or sleeping, those who mess up toilet and you have to clean up after them.

If you have lived in Nigerian hostels, you probably would have encountered such.

You don't get anything on a platter in life , nothing is handed to you.
Brace yourself, grow up , sit yourself down and decide what you want to take away from Griffith / Ireland or the overall abroad pursuit.

As crazy as the UK is with no automatic graduate visa , some people are still getting their work permit legally without marrying EU/British Nationals.

Am not picking at you , you're entitled to your opinion but what you said today seems more of a rant than advise.

4. If your parents are government officials e.g custom officials or entrepreneurs with no trading records, try and find a way to make the proof of funds legit if applying to Ireland. Else, just process UK- most of our partner universities now have 2 years masters program in the UK - 1 year masters degree and 2 year paid internship.

5. If you are married and what to study in Ireland, for the final time you can't go with dependents or family members. You are only permitted to do so if its a PhD program.

6. If your program will be for more than 1 year, you may have to renew insurance for each year.

7. New regulations for people currently studying in Ireland: If you want to visit Nigeria for holidays whilst your program is still in progress , kindly contact the GNIB for relevant travel permits. Ths however excludes those with British passport or American passports.

People should try as much as possible to conduct personal research and cost estimations.

No one is forcing anyone to travel to Ireland also note that people travel for further studies for different reasons.

While there lots of millionaires in Nigeria, some people have decided they want a better future for themselves and their family abroad while others feel they can't achieve their best potential in Nigeria.

Depends on the university and funding available for your research.

If no funding @ 10k to 15k per year. some universities reduce fees to as low as 50% from 2nd year.

If the university however have funds at disposal for the research and you have excellent grades in previous studies and outstanding research proposal, you can get full tuition waiver to EU tuition fees.

Basic background info:

Whats your previous discipline / bachelors degree course?
What do you currently practise as ?
Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years?
What are you passionate about?

Top on my list : Any IT related course more importantly Data related / Advanced Digital media.
Am not sure what type of process management you are interested in or under which discipline this falls into.

Second will be supply chain management : this course scales thru oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, productions, logistics , Agric-business etc but then depends on what your career preference is.

MBA is excellent if you have you have acquired relevant experience and see yourself heading a business corporation in the near future. If choosing this and considering Ireland make sure you can excel in business development - this is core for startups , Big IT corporations etc.

Now is the best time to be in Ireland, tuition fees will increase (NCI formerly had 4k off for students with 2:2 for 2018, that has been reduced to 2k ; Griffith has increased tuition for some courses as well; visa requirements will get stricter by end of 2019, immigration policies can change), my point is people decide in time on which country they prefer not to forget our own Elections next year *** greatest determinant of our economy no one knows how fx will change with all the dollar sharing that will unfold.

As of today, 2 years work permit is still valid for masters and PhD graduates only. No one knows what the new law will be tomorrow .

What the highly skilled occupation in demand list means is that if an employer intends to sponsor your work permit after your 2 years, priority will be given to people with degree, skills and work experience in those fields on that list.

However, after your 2 years worst case scenario you can move to Canada (if the express entry is still on , cos as it is it is valid till 2021) or you can take up a PhD program this permits you bring your family into the country and hopefully settle indefinitely.

That is my professional advice.

In same vein, I wish to humbly appeal to my Nigerian compatriots planning to come down here for schooling or whatever purpose best known to them. There are lots of opportunities here. You can make it big if you work hard and be consistent in whatever legitimate endeavour you choose to embark on. The reason is Euro is high if converted to our local naira and I am using myself as case study. With your little hustle, it's worth reasonable amount when you send back home and you won't believe what you are able to save within a reasonable time at home even while schooling here.!

Most public universities are even more expensive than private college / universities... NCI is a college awarding bachelors and masters degree but it is a UNIVERSITY.

Reasons to join early intakes : January, February and April 2019 intakes !!!

Early intake for most countries mean students get longer visas , opportunity to adjust to the cultural difference, more leisure
time or less academic workload and definitely more hours to work.

For example, September intakes for postgraduate student means 12 months straight for academic workload:

September to Jan - 1st semester

Feb to May - 2nd semester

June to september - 3rd semester.

However, early intakes have at least 4 - 6 months holiday to work full time because early intakes only study for the first 2 semesters , have the summer holidays off and next academic year for dissertation / masters project.

He will have to check for medical exams, licensing and adaptation as required by the Irish government.

The UK also has PLAB exams for medical doctors ; once they pass the different stages of their plab, they can get adaptation slot or job directly in the UK.

Yes UL accepts 6,000 euros deposit as of september 2018.

The embassy states a minimum tuition fee payment of 6,000 euros . However, most institutions want the full payment before visa application.

My advice will be for you to contact the international office by May for latest requirement with regards to payment of tuition fees.
I am however aware that Limerick often requests a non-refundable acceptance fee of 500 euros within stipulated time as stated on your offer letter.

Guys plss I need ur suggestion..

I wanted to use the education Bond for proof of statement.. unknowingly to me..I thought I can pay with my dollar card.

So I changed the money to Dollars. So wen I registered..I got to know that i can only pay using by bank transfer. Or through the money in my euro account..
and I don't have euro in my euro account. because getting euro is very very very hard...

So I want to ask. If I should just leave the money in my domiciliary dollar account and just use it as proof of funds.. couple with the 2 million I have in my savings account..

So my main question now is. If I can also use my domiciliary dollar bank statement for my visa application with the 8000 Dollars in it...
