Lets assume ur assertion @bolded is true, why will US need herpersonic delivery system when their nukes is already on the Baltic. The US has better delivery system than Russia, how many of their nuclear stockpiles can they deploy within a moment of notice when compared to the US.

Also, know that the United States has a misile defence shield in EU encircling the Russians and their best bet will be the ICBM tipped nuclear submarine. The US stand a chance of shooting down the ICBM if deployed from ground silos .

Overall the US and it's allies have better comparative advantage over the Russian federation but when comes to nuclear war just one ICBM going through your missile defense shield is enough to bring you to your knees.

In synopsis, nuclear war is mutually assured destruction. No body wins.

Those countries signed Nuclear Non proliferation treaty and agreed not to venture into nuclear for arms but can do nuclear for energy. The UN security council has also banned non nuclear states from having one. The US is the police that helps bring the resolutions of the security council with the help of other permanent members , all permanent members are Nuclear states .

It's not about just fear of defeat , the collateral damage will be so great that no country would wish to go in for it. Russia can't surrender even when NATO joins the fight , meaning mutually assured destruction MAD will be activated by any side that see it loosing the conventional way. The USA has great advantage over the Russian side using conventional weaponry and with it's vast anti missile defense shield in Europe but unconventional dogfights will results in MAD and World war III. The US can't risk it's Homeland security for a 200 billion economy, rather it will bring it's economic might to bear and crumble the Russian economy. Ukraine should have joined NATO when other former Soviet states joined, bad situation for them.

I have done that before against a firm single-handedly when all my guys refused to join me for fear of the unknown. few weeks to the ruling the company came begging for out of court proceedings in addition to bearing the liabilities of the litigation.
