It is a very disgusting label on the male folks for such occurrences and this attitude of the society especially in a place like Nigeria has to stop. The more fundamental right infringement cases brought against the Nigerian police will curtail this increasing trend towards dehumanizing young men in the country. It is really a pitiable situation.

National Assembly budget bigger than several states budget in Nigeria is a bad omen for the nation. They only need a tenth of that budget while 90% feed their corrupt minds, this criminality should stop.

The sure way to attract quality students is to ensure these teachers are employed and the minimum wage for teachers is raised to 200K Naira per month

The guy is correct, he doesn't need any further statistics you know why? The North has 19 states plus the FCT while the South has 17. Federal Charcter law stipulates even distribution of employment equally to all states of the federation though this is not always followed to the latter. Lets assume it is follwed judiciously, it means the North took 19 proportions plus slots given to the FCT while the south took 17 proportions meaning the North has more Federal government employee than their Southern counterparts.

Infact the humor of the situation is simple when you wake up to the fact that

1. All states in Nigeria have the same problem...low tax to gdp ratios, low percentage of the taxable population paying taxes.

2.Most state governors know what to do, ....tax everyone including the majority in the informal sector, the farmers, the laborer's, the herdsmen, etc.

3.They won't do it...because it means they all get voted out.

4.Southern state governors thus hit on seizing VAT...as a smart way of getting out of their predicament. It helps them in these ways

FIRST: they get some extra money for the state coffers without having to raise taxes on the majority who don't pay taxes.(even though long term it may not be enough, but that's not the point)
SECOND: it helps them politically; gives southern nigerians an enemy to focus on (the evil North)...and also shows them as defenders of the South vs the parasitic, evil, North. It also enables them to get voted into office forever and ever....after they finish being governors. (Just as one Alhaji Sani got himself a permanent seat as A SENATOR after retiring as a GOVERNOR because he introduced Sharia)

5.Northern governors are in a quandary

FIRST: They lose the extra income from vat..which worsens their allocation from Abuja...especially as oil is low...and still low.
SECOND: They then may have to do what their southern governor counterparts are not going to do...raise taxes on the majority of their population that like the South does not pay taxes. Which means they cannot have any polticial benefits...and anyone of them hoping for bigger things after governor is in trobule.


That's why when I tell people I don't like APC or PDP....they think I am lying. Well, this whole VAT thing is one of the ways both sets of politicians pull wool over our eyes. Now it is the turn of our Southern governors. Meanwhile....the money from VAT would not be enough long term. And the problem still remains....30% of taxable Nigerians actually pay taxes, and our tax to gdp ratio is 6.1% and we are still dependent on oil.

But hey, we have beaten those Northerners. Just like the North used Sharia to beat them Southerners. That's all that matters. Either way, Nigeria keeps on suffering.

Tomorrow...most of you praising WIKE will end up asking the same question.....where is the money going to? Why am I not seeing benefit? Why won't you..when the problem causing the lack of money was never really addressed?

The root cause of this quagmire is that our system doesn't encourage people with impeccable character and most importantly guys with very high intelligent quotient to mount the seat of governance.

The ills in the land have gone for so long a time that any good news is celebrated since good news is hard to get over here.
The guy has tried to set a good precedent, our hope is that visionary leaders should always take charge of governance in the land so that transformative and innovative ideas can help galvanized the Nation to a trajectory of greatness..

Your logic is wrong, you don't feed the South, the South buys every food they get from the North. Is there any revenue generated from the North that is given to the Southern states for free? if your answer is yes then you can also assert that you feed the south even if the amount is 5Naira.

It's high time everyone answers his father's name, this is the reason the North has never agreed to a true federal system of governance where the federating unit source for their resources and maybe give a percentage to the center for its operation. To know that the North has a long way to go, look at the Federation account and quantify how much percentage contributed by the North and South. I won't be surprised seeing South 99% and North1%, time to go back to the drawing board by the North.
