please I need your opinions and advice. My younger brother was convicted exactly 7months ago for attempting to scam (yahoo yahoo). The judge gave him a 6-month jail term with an option of #50,000 fine which i paid and we went home. Now I'm thinking of sending him abroad as he can't get any job here in Nigeria, especially a government job and I hear most countries don't allow ex-convicts in.

What are his hopes pleasehuh

Jobs/VacanciesRe: I Finally Got A Job Through A Nairalander After Months Of Job Hunting. by Idaytesj29(m): 3:59pm On Mar 20, 2021
Ghostty:
Hello guys
Good morning to you all.

Remember this thread I created sometime last year?

https://www.nairaland.com/5448693/accept-job-offer-continue-job

Well as God would have it, a Nairalander whose moniker is very popular on here(Wouldn't mention for obvious reasons) reached out to me and asked me to send my CV to his email address for review.

At first, I was reluctant and didn't want to send the CV considering he's always not serious with his posts and also a troll here or so I thought. But on a second thought I decided to give it a try. Few days later, he sent an email requesting that I meet him at a particular address the following day on the Island here in Lagos.

The following day I got to the address, it was actually an office complex with the company occupying about 6 floors in the entire building. I met with the Nairalander, we discussed at length and in the end he asked me when I would love to resume.

I later got to know he is the General Manager, Group Learning and Human Resources for the Company(A Privately owned Oil Firm) after resumption.

Fams, today I'm gainfully employed with a pay four times bigger than what the Chinese company had earlier offered me in my previous thread.

I want to use this medium to thank Seun Osewa and most especially God for sending an helper my way when I thought all hopes was lost. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

PS: Some Nairalanders are super rich and connected guys, believe me. Learn to respect people's opinion on here as you may not know who you're dealing with. For those who are still searching for jobs, please do not stop believing as your breakthrough is closer than you know. Thank you.

Modified:

I know you would most likely see this Sir. May God continually bless you, guide and protect you. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart, God bless you. Amen!
And to that good hearted boss of yours. Thank you this act of benevolence. Pls don't stop.

And OP be the best nairaland ambassador, dont let him have reason to regret helping you. This will encourage him to help others. God bless us all. Ameen
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Have You Ever Lost A Job Due To Your Tribe by Idaytesj29(m): 10:16am On Mar 20, 2021
Fixey:
Smiles. I'm kin to SE. It's exactly why people should built healthy relationships with other people and not act irrationally. While there may be a claim on stereotypes, tribal hating and all, let's be objective that many times the igbo dude would act like to hell with it and goes all out to do and undo. This is what it always leads to... That attitude of I don't give a hoot and to hell with consequences. It's the exact attitude that makes people characterise the Igbos as people to be careful with. In this scenario, it's not tribal hating but what the average igbo man does.

Before anyone misconstrues my points. In all houses I've lived in, I've conducted myself so peaceable and gentle that mu landlords even friends all looked for people from my tribe to get involved with. Why? Their experiences from dealing with me. Close to 4 friends got married to people from my tribe because of how how interconnected with me and how I impressed on them. Regardless of what happens in all the houses I lived in, nothing touches me. In the village I have projects setup, people love me from the entrance of the city into the interiors

My dear, tell igbos to stop the to hell attitude and work on building good relations with people. There are thousands of such stories above. It's not tribal hating, it's the igbotic attitude
Let me also add that Igbo's are wired biologically not to work for anyone. They thrive impressively well in business and prefer to be their own boss.

A person with to hell attitude should just be his own boss and not work for anyone or government.

And I know a lots of them from Ibadan who works here in Lagos but reside in Ibadan with family. Nothing is high about Lagos life or low about any life in this country. It's always personal. The secret to enjoyment is being contented with what you have.....

Appreciate it...Value it and treasure it...

Because the moment you begin to neglect what you have and start placing unhealthy emphasis on what you don't have... That's the fastest route to being unsatisfied.....

Listen to Love Yourz by J.Cole....

You think you have a cute girlfriend....well there's one cuter out there...

There's always going to be a bigger house somewhere... bigger than yours....

someone is always going to have some clothes fresher than the ones you rock..

someone somewhere is always going to have a car badder than the one you have...

And you're never going to be happy until you love yourz.....

Then you'll find satisfaction with the little you have because not matter how much you have...you can't have it all....

Satisfaction...brings happiness....and there's enjoyment in Happiness....

Car TalkRe: Peugeot 508, have your say by Idaytesj29(m): 7:21pm On Mar 11, 2021
fabienjoe:
No self respecting carmaker would lose interest in North American market no matter how many units it moves in Europe. Peugeot simply couldn't match the Japanese in the US. It's not so much the inferior quality of their products as the unique demands of Americans. Americans love easy no-frills driving while Europeans would prefer a more engaging vehicle. For example, manual transmission is all but dead in the US but European still buy them today. Lexus with all its acclaimed success in the US, still struggles in Europe. Honda is cosidering discontinuing the Accord while Toyota is floundering from Camry to avensis and back to Camry, without any foothold in Europe. Nissan and Mazda are still not mainstream in Europe. Yet, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Infiniti etc are well established brands in the US. Peugeot has not cracked the US since the glory days of 505. They however, are still looking for ways to get back into that market.
I enjoy all the analysis, my own submission is that, PSA Group has a chance now to enter the US market. The time is now!

If you know anyone behind bars, tell them no to partake in any inmate riot, they should stay away from rioting fellow inmate, if riot is happening, remain in your cell. With my experience with how prison works in Nigeria, Riot means you have declared war on the officers and authorities in charge. They will never take that easy with such inmates, mostly it ends in death on both sides. I repeat, death.

The guy may his soul find peace must be a very active rioter for him to be identified and called out after the riot by the authorities in charge.

Be it sentenced or awaiting trial male or females, you were charged to be law abiding and be of good conduct for the whole of your time in custody.

While they will listen to you, they are not under any compulsion to do your bidding.

As to rights and privileges, you have them on papers but in actual practice anything can happen if you misbehave. Just behave and you will leave in peace and one piece. You do anyhow, you leave is pieces, that's if you even leave at all.

Freedom is priceless, don't engage in anything that will take yours away.

Actually, they did not. That;'s a conspiracy theory that has been thoroughly refuted.

First, Diana was not pregnant, and was infact on contraceptive pills, as testified to by witnesses

Second, Diana was not really in love with her muslim boyfriend, and saw the thing as a fling.(Plus Dodi was not the first Muslim BF...it was a Pakistani doctor who even broke up with her because his mother did not accept the relationship.)

Third, let's assume Diana married Mr Fayed. Any kids they have won't be in line for the English throne...and even if a space could be found for them , they would have to convert to Anglican Christianity first...and they would be very very far behind in the pecking order...somewhere like 10000th in line to the throne...especially as Diana was a royal by marriage, not by descent.

Fourth....the driver of the car Henri Paul was drunk , and had a high alcohol content in his body. And he drove at a high speed.

Finally, Diana was not wearing a seatbelt. That even made things worse for her. Her bodyguard was the only one in the car wearing a seatbelt and the only one who survived.

Kill wetin.? If there is someone the royals would want to get rid off...there is the Duchess of York
whom the Duke of Edinburgh hates.

RomanceRe: Why Young Nigerian Men Try To Convince And Marry An Old White Woman? by Idaytesj29(m): 11:29am On Feb 26, 2021
I learn, learn not to listen to any Nigerian man love words online or in person, better even do not talk to them as mostly are users and scammers and to find the real one, really in love with a white woman any age it's a hard lottery, specially because we have many local men, in the neighborhood willing to date the white old or not so old woman, as well young white men who are into much older women dating or marrying and they don't need any papers or any place to stay or support, usually the American man supports a woman, not the other way around.
This comment is so wrong. You guys are just used to loving an average Nigerian bad boy.

If you meet a normal Nigerian guy that's is not selfish, well brought up and behaviourally upright may be from a middle class or upper class family, this may not matter though, and he loves you. You will melt away in affection.

Now, to those who want papers, for instance if I find myself in USA or UK or Canada today and I discover I need to be married to a native to be accepted. I will wait till I find a foreign woman I love and let her know I love her and if she loves me, fine. If she doesn't and she is afraid I am a paper hunter like you are afraid. I let her be, move on, cos I don't want to be a reason someone will be in a corner shedding painful tears.

I will continue till I find someone I love and she loves me. And I also have have a personal standard, must be between 35-45 yrs and working. Working class people are usually matured and understand apart from the emotional or social reasons behind peoples decisions, they understand the economic aspects too and won't demonize people for this.

And If I have a family in my home country, and like I describe above, I found someone I love and she love me too, I will do well by letting her know I have a family and if she is not okay with it, she is free to leave me.

Although it will be painful for me as I would have invested a lot of my true emotions and love into the relationship, but its what it is. Sincerity is important as much as love or paper for those seeking papers in a relationship.

But, I am a big fan of white women. I love white babes like mad. In short, its a fantasy for me to be with a whitey lady. I once told my mother, if per chance I find myself in white-womans land, nothing will stop me from marrying a white lady.
This hasn't change.

I can do whatever I want, I am not an Nigerian and I cant bring black children to this world.
Forget this trash, this man loves you.

Some of these black men go to Europe and america for better life, they know marrying white pretties like you will guarantee papers, but most of them will decide, if I have to marry for papers, let me marry a whitey that I love.

As per, those already married in Africa, most lie cos they know they don't stand a chance with you if they disclose their marital status.

But you husband isn't in that category, you would have known by now.
