micronut: Well sometimes, i don't really get it. Have discovered, times without number, that a good numbers of trolls here are good at checking certain undeniable flaws, which are usually due to ignorance or impatience of the writer. But rather than, singly identifying and directs writer's attention to such, you guys go about shouting and crying over it. You talk as if, you are incorrigible and someone that could not make other simple grammatical mistakes. Like a perfect system that writes so well and would never guff, even unaware.
Well, it's because of this that certain Text on "Simple mistakes in English are written", "Common Errors in English" and the likes. The Authority in the school of grammar understands perfectly well, that our Writing and speaking skills would keep improving by the day and that's why we keep learning.
Am aware that the above mistake i made was recently thought-off, most especially on "Nairaland". And agents like you have taken it upon yourself to be looking for defaulters so, that you can download your mind and have afilled day.
Thanks for directing my attention to that, i promise to be weary of this, hitherto. But then, there are better ways to say little things. Peace! Let me assume I get your drift. In the real sense if simple things like 'Am' is continuously mistaken for 'I'm (I am)' continuously, without remorse, without knowledge, without fear of favour, this world will be something I do not want to describe in a few years. You said I tried to correct you of a trivial issue 'Am' instead of 'I'm' or 'I am' in a rash way, lets assume you make the first in error, how about this one you also wrote in this that I duly underlined for your viewing pleasure? Are you telling me that your phone or system now have an autocorrect mode for 'I am' to 'Am'? People are doing the wrong thing by the thousands and feeling fly about it. Its just terrible. Written English (even spoken) is so appalling that you find it difficult to comprehend what so-called graduates write. Its that bad. Really very common with our brothers in certain part of the nation where there are actually loudest in the media. What you hear the pressmen say and write on blogs is mind boggling. The bloggers, need to be re-educated first or hire competent writers and not come writing mundane articles fit for night club hangers-on. What causes these flaws is actually our craze for 'shorthand' or abbreviations or acronyms. Its not helping us at all. You can tell when someone makes a typographical error. We all make it. But telling me 'Am' in place of 'I am' (I'm) is a little error, I shall need more convincing. Little things are little things, be mindful of little things!!! |

EasternLionn: https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/660/cpsprodpb/564A/production/_86609022_img_1989.jpg Hundreds of people in southern Nigeria have been protesting about the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, an activist who supports the creation of a breakaway state of Biafra. The director of Radio Biafra was arrested last month and is still being held despite a court order to free him, his mainly ethnic Igbo supporters say. The government says his station has been operating without a licence. Biafran secessionists fought a three-year civil war that ended in 1970. More than one million people lost their lives before the uprising was eventually quelled by the military. Secessionist groups have attracted the support of many young people in the south-east in recent years. The BBC's Abdussalam Ahmed in the southern-eastern city of Enugu says in reality they do not want a repeat of the civil war but are keen to draw the attention of the central government to some developmental challenges the region faces. Africa Live: BBC news updates Our correspondent says the peaceful protests started on Friday in the oil-rich Delta state and has since taken place in five other major cities in the region. The demonstrators are mostly young men holding Biafra flags and banners with pictures of Mr Kanu, who is also a leader in the secessionist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Tuesday's march is taking place in the city of Owerri in Imo state a day after the region's biggest market in the city of Aba was reportedly shut down by protesters. Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of Nigeria's intelligence agency for more than three weeks "We won't give up until our director Nnamdi Kanu is released," one protester told our reporter during a protest in Enugu. The Biafra activists say a court in the capital, Abuja, ordered the release of Mr Kanu but authorities have refused to comply despite all the conditions set being met. It is not clear where Radio Biafra is based but it mainly broadcasts to the Igbo-speaking south-east of the country. The Nigerian government began jamming its signals in July but it is still available online and via mobile phones by a dialling a local number, our reporter says. An IPOB leader, Uchemna Madu, told the BBC that the group was fighting against the "injustice and inequality" ethnic Igbos faced in Nigeria. "We believe in Nigeria, we have businesses everywhere in the country but we are getting nothing apart from political and social marginalisation," he said. "Our lives and properties are not secured, we want to live on our own." The Nigerian authorities have always maintained that most of the issues the Biafra activists are complaining about are not unique to southern part of the country.

Cc Lalasticlala, Obinoscopy These Igbo people are just confused set of humans. Instead of forming a united front in Nigeria politics, they are busy fighting a lost course. How many of them supported Ojukwu when he vied for Presidency? APGA is supposed to be their regional party, how many seats do they have at the various houses of assembly? The people fronting this Biafra agenda are (just like any average Igbo man) after their own personal monetary gain. APC is to the West, why can't they make APGA a formidable party to reckon with, that way, their voices will be much louder. |

How possible will a divided Urobo/Isoko defeat a United entire Anioma and Ijaw, if Otega or Ogboru had stepped down, Okowa would have gotten a run for his money. Delta deserve a better governance than we are getting now, I don't even see ant of the three as the right man for Delta, Warri, the most popular city in the state has no single good road, God dey sha! From your comments, Delta is really not your state, (not second or third). Yes Warri is supposedly the most popular city in the state right? Where is the state capital, how has it fared under the 'United Urhobos' for the past sixteen years as compared to Warri? You talk of roads in Warri is there any other road in Asaba apart from Nnebisi road? Call a spade what it is and let people know that the Urhobos have failed Delta state recurrently. Let this change try just like we're are having on the national level. Little be it or much. |

Meanwhile, BREAKING NEWS !!! Dstv has moved all Chelsea matches to cartoon Network to pave way for SERIOUS matches on super sport channels. It's very obvious you don't have children yet or you have destined them for the path of destruction. The overzealous Christian would always quote bible passages to buttress their opinion. Yes, you will definitely spoil the child if you spare the rod. A saying in my place, the child is trained by the community and not the parents alone. Some children misbehave in presence of their parents because they know no nothing wrong and fear them not. Others misbehave in school or outside because they perceive that they always have their parents backings no matter what. These subliminal actions will actually come to the fore in their teens and by then may be too late to correct. Bend and/ or break them while they are still malleable. Nobody wants to harm his children but you do more harm by not flogging once in a while. |

yatch360: THE Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi Araba, was thrown into mourning yesterday, following the death of a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, Dr Hestianna Thomas.
Her death was discussed in hushed tone by workers.
The mother of two is believed to be a victim of domestic violence.
Some women described her as a compassionate doctor who helped saved their children’s lives.
The Nation gathered that the late Dr Thomas, whose husband is a Consultant Clinical Pathologist at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, reported for duty three days ago, until she was brought in yesterday to LUTH battered.
A source said: “A close examination of her body revealed a lot of lacerations.
“In fact, I noticed that the head had a deep cut. When other colleagues also saw her, they said there was a deep cut on her skull, because they saw pierced bone. Source.http://thenationonlineng.net/luth-consultant-dies/ I guess she's the Profs daughter. Too bad, as she was described as a very compassionate and gentle person by a close family friend of hers. tido77: I am limping between decisions, I need your piece of advice to buoy my wobbling senses. A well educated lady is in my radar, I like ladies that control grammar very well, in fact I am a sucker for such ladies. This my lady controls grammar so well and she is beautiful, a graduate.
Now, I also have a young lady that comes around, and I observed that they are both different in manners. She is not a graduate, she stopped at secondary school level due to finance problem.
When this not so schooled lady comes around she always notices disorganized things and would arrange them, would notice dirty floor and mop up,wash dirty dishes etc. She would not greet me without bending her left knee slightly to show respect. She is not as beautiful as the educated lady though.
The graduate lady do none of these things, all we do is just gist.
Lately the school cert lady makes me feel the warmth of a caring lady, I am beginning to notice her more.
I am a graduate with tastes, I don't know what I want again, I am confused, somebody advise. Beauty fades. Even beauty alone cannot run your home for you. It takes much more than a pretty face to be a woman. You will see the true beauty in the school cert lady by the time you get her through a Diploma. Don't be deceived by the works of make-up artists. |
