Op, Pease, care to tell us when Peugeot 307 & 407 were sold in USA? Since when did all 2003 Toyota Highlanders had 2AZ-FE? Or are you saying only 2003 Toyota Highlander got the 2AZ-FE? Please, don't use Car Talk to spread false information. Go back and do your research well. Ikenna. |
Royal Roy: All the above listed are Japanese cars.Since when did Peugeot 307 & 407 become Japanese cars? Ikenna. |
@ roosebolton, The car looks ok, but i couldnt find the VIN to check the car speccs out for you or confirm what the seller claims. Can you contact the seller and get the VIN? Ikenna. |
roosebolton: I can not thank you guys enough for such a detailed and educative post. It will help me in making an informed decision about the car.Well, we have ASD Motors at Garki, Area 10 and Okocha Motors at Garki II. Both are Peugeot dealerships, if you can afford them. I think there are other Peugoet dealerships in Abuja, aside those 2. But they are the ones i have been to. Not just been to, often visit for sales/OEM parts. But if you cant afford them, then get yourself Diagbox. Even if you are not good with spanners, knowing what is wrong with your Lion and the cause is enough to run the car as long as you want. You can always take your lion to a road side mechanic and and point at him "remove this and put this". Peugeots are increasing on Abuja road on daily basis, including the brand new 408, 508, 3008 & 4008. In fact, in Abuja, the 408 & 508 have become official cars for Fed. govt officials, Political appointees, Top military & para-miltary staffs, etc. So have nothing to worry about and cross that bridge. Worse case, carry am come my side. Hehe! Now, which engine and transmission are interested in? Would suggest you go for 307 with EW10 engine, if you can find one. Though, there is nothing wrong with the others. Ikenna |
olamega: Thanks for your prompt response, these are the issues:You have mail. By the way, whats the engine in that car? Petrol or Diesel? I4 or V6? Ikenna. |
olamega: @ Ikenna , please can you direct me to a Good Peugeot Mechanic in Abuja, I want some issues resolved in my 607, 2009 model. thanks. What are the issues? Ikenna |
Op, I have communicated your log in issue to Admin. I believe he is already looking into it. But he will need to know your true username since this is your friend's. You can send me your username via PM or my email address in my signature, if you dont want it posted here. Next time, use the complaint thread for similar issue. By the way, thanks for the birthday wishes. Ikenna. |
smartchoice: @Ik and car doctor my w202 c180 refuses to compensate for the load! goes off atimes! Please advice needed.Sorry, i cant help you on this, since i do not understand your car systems. Ikenna |
redcliff: Ikenna, he asked a pertinent question which you did not answer and which is (A) Can one intentionally swap the fuel pump in the car for a pump with a higher pressure rating without an adverse effect to the car? E.g the toyota hilux fuel pump has a pressure of about 11 bar (guess). would it be okay to fix a pump with a rating of 14 bar? . I believe alot of people are waiting for an answer to this particular question because it affects us greatly in the sense that that's the standard recommendation by most mechanics these days..When you know the true state of your fuel pump, why would you bother changing it when its still ok? I believed he asked those questions because he didnt know how to find out the true state of fuel pump aside our local mechanics method, hence, he was thinking swapping in an FP with higher psi will elongate the death of the pump? Has it ever occured to you that your car injection system was programmed to run well with a particular fuel pressure psi? Even the FPR in your car regulates the fuel pressure with a specific psi. What do you think will happen to a N/A I4 injection system when you swap in a V12 car FP in the system? Well, maybe it will run well without any adverse effect on the car injection system, which is possible, depending on the modification been done on the engine. But if i have a tool to check and know when my FP has failed or about to fail, and the FP is very much available in the market, why should i risk the injection system by putting something not designed for that injection system? Thats why buying Nigerian used cars can he quite discouraging, because you do not know where to start troubleshooting issues, when you do not know the kind of wrong modifications that have been done or wrong parts installed. Even if you cant find the exact FP for your car in the market, i would suggest you find another that will match with same psi or close to the factory. Ikenna |
anthonani: Hello people! very to glad to see a group on 406. I've always loved the car and now i have one. Got it off an Nigerian tho who used it for a bit. Mileage is about 145,000km.. its quite clean. Auto gear (yeah i know). He apparently went through all the drama of the tranny sensor and just when he was bout to convert it, he found that there was a type of auto tranny which didn't require that sensor (they called it "manual auto"What phase is the 406? D8 or D9? Ikenna |
If you really want to know how good your fuel pump is, get a fuel pressure gauge. The gauge can also be use to determine how good your FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) is, if your car has it. Though, its easier to test FPR without pressure gauge via the FPR vacuum line. But for my Peugeot, the SV D9, my diagbox tells me the state of the fuel pump, since the engine ECU controls the fuel pressure of the car via the fuel pump. That is, the ECU increases or decreases the fuel pressure via the fuel pump, depending on the rpm, since the engine lacks FPR. Notwithstanding, Fuel pressure gauge is my next on the "to purchase list". Probably before the end of the month. It cost 15k or so in Abuja. Unfortunately, the quality of the one i saw wasnt encouraging. Will see how it goes. I just want to have it. Ikenna |
Flexya is correct in his number 4 statement. On factory fitted ac systems, there is usually a compensatory device for stabilising the rpm when the ac is switched on. The device is usually a vacuum operated throttle advance compensator designed to keep the revs at a stable 750-850 rpm. It can also be programmed through the ecu to perform the same function by increasing the rpm to keep a stable idling speed. The ecu identifies that the ac has been switched on and communicates to the electronic stepper motor to advance the rpm in order to compensate for the load from the ac compressor on the engine and regulates the rpm as and when ever the compressor clutch engages. If an ac system is fitted as an after thought on cars with ecu controlled electronic stepper motors, the ecu may have to be re-mapped with the adaptation protocol for idle speed compensation when ac is in operation. Obviously, if these devices are not present, the car engine would not be able to maintain the idle speed rpms. Number 4 is a valid point. Car-Doctor.
It depends. My Bosch LH2-2 system is programmed such that the rpm will always remain at 750 rpm, irrespective of the load on the engine, via the help of Idle Regulation solenoid valve. The injection and Ignition ECUs controls this valve. Yes, the rpm will drop when the A/C is switched on, but will climb back to where it was before (750 rpm), whether the climate control ECU is connected to the Injection and Ignition ECUs,as long as one doesnt mess up the factory throttle adjustment on the throttle stop on the throttle body. That i can tell you. I know exactly how my Bosch LH2-2 system in my 505 V6 works and can tell you what you said about point 4 doesnt apply to that system. Like i earlier said, it depends on the system we are talking about. Ikenna |
Dulone12: Please I will like to know the difference between the EW10 and EW7 engineEW7: 1.8 L, 16v, 117 hp. EW10: 2.0 L, 16v, 138 & 145 hp. Ikenna. |
It could be the scanner lack the ECU protocol of your car. Even my scanners lack the protocol of that particular ECU and so dont communicate with the ECU of that particular Camry model year, especially the petrol N/A I4. Try other scanners, unless someone has messed with the wires to that port. Ikenna |
@ ikenna What's the difference between this chat room and the general car talk section? Car-Doctor.
I think Admin has already answered your question above. Anyway, simple, its a discussion room for off topics and etc. Ikenna |
@yanmata: many thanks Sir. Any other thing again, house, oga IK?
I would suggest you make out time and go through the thread, from the page 1. Everything you need to know on how to own a modern Peugeot as long as it takes are all there, including the answers to your questions. D9 is not some Toyota you can abuse anyhow electrically, otherwise you will regret the day you bought her, just like most Euro cars: complex electrics but pleasurable to drive, as long as the electrics are not abused. As for your battery, yes, it will die soon. They all do that. The time they spent while been b sold, shipped, cleared, and sold again is enough to weaken the battery cells which will make them die sooner than you expect. If you can afford it, replace it. If you cant, wait till it start showing sign of weakness and then replace. They usually come with 45 Ah. But 62 - 75 Ah will do too. Hoe are you sure the engine is EW10? Is it because it looks like one or you confirmed it with VIN or where it is engraved on the cylinder head? There is nothing wrong with EW7, but EW10 and EW7 look alike. Just saying. Ikenna. |
chuqudy: Infiniti just like extera is a good car for nigerian roads that is why he is using it. Who wants to waste money, energy and time?So QX4 is good for Nigerian road, but Murano is not? Honestly, its better you stop embarrassing yourself in Car Talk. This is not Politics section. Your posts here portrays you as a minor, no offence, even though there is nothing wrong with a minor joining and contributing in this section, but ready to listen and learn. Again, pay attention to those that understand cars better than you do. You still have a lot to learn. Ikenna. |
camaro: Ikenna, pls tell me how I can take care of this issue. My 307 manual trans. I dont actually the year. The clutch plate was replaced for the first time since the car was bought and it refused to start.Clutch plate is pure mechanical and its not even part of the engine. So if the engine refused to start after replacing the plate, then the mechanic must have done something terrible on the electrics while on the job. Hope your car has not been immobilized? Did you follow battery disconnection procedure? If not, you may have corrupted the BSI. Well, as it is now, i cant tell from here whats stopping the car from starting since i dont know what they did on the electrics while separating the engine from the gearbox. Does the car have fuel pump safety switch in the engine bay? Hope no one pressed it while they were in the engine bay? They should check to be sure every connector has been connected. Maybe scanning the car may tell you what is wrong. But whatever the problem is, it was created during the clutch plate replacement. There is little i can do from here since am not there where the car is. My email address and phone number is on my signature. Ikenna |
chuqudy: The one that has the better quality wins. Cheers.I still dont understand why you still dont get it? Both vehicles are designed to serve different purposes. The better quality thing shouldnt come in here. I told you earlier, if you want to compare Matrix with another, do that with another hatchback of the same body size, engine type (fuel type, turbo or N/A, number of cylinders), irrespective of car brand. It makes more sense to compare Murano with other crossovers: Toyota Venza, Honda Crosstour, Peugeot 3008 & 4008, etc. Please, am hungry. I never chop since morning. Need to enter kitchen now. Ikenna |
chuqudy: But you have just compared nokia 3310 with samsung galaxy in contrary to what you initially said-- that they are incomparable. Comparing two things include both the similarities and differences between the two things been compared. I think the problem is more of poor understanding of the Use of English Language and Logic. You were unfair to 3310 by compairing it with the Galaxis. 3310 in its era, was where the Galaxis are now. How many people could afford 3310 back then when it first came out? I couldnt, not even close. Is just like comapring Peugeot 504 with the brand new 508? Thats totally been unfair to 504. How many Nigerians could afford brand new 504 in the '70's and early '80s? Only the top civil servants and the rich business men could. 504 was where the new 508 is now, back then. My father bought his 504 GL (foreign assembly) in 1977 at the price of N6,000+. Do you know what 6k means then? There is nothing wrong in comparing old with new, but not the way you put it. Ikenna |
chuqudy: So this is what you will answer in exam when you are asked to compare 2 things that are used for the same purpose but with different features. Even if it is Nokia 3310 and Samsung galaxy, there is a similarity. They are phones. One has camera while the other has not. One is costlier than the other. One lasts longer than the other. And so on. The replys I am getting here are ridiculous and shows the poor level of understanding of simple use of English and logic. You really have a lot to learn about cars. You have a long way to go on that. Someone would buy a Kia Picanto. Use it for one month, ditch it and buys Benz S 600 the next month. The 3rd month, he ditch the S 600 and run back to Picanto and start the campaign that benz are gas guzzlers and their part prices are outragious. This is a fellow that jumped from Picanto to S 600 with the same maintenance budget and financial strenght. He didnt see A-class buy, but chose s 600 with 12 cylinder engine, yet expecting the same fuel consumption of the s 600 to be the same with the Picanto. He forgets that s600 is targeted to some class, the same with Picanto. Now, how on Earth can we know your financial strenght to know which of the 2 vehicles is better for you? Do you know bad the road where you stay is to determine if Murrano is better for you or if Picanto would be? Do we know if you can afford to fuel Murano or the Picanto, the economy car? Do we know the purpose or what you need the car for? Abi we be winch to know all that and tell you one that suits you better? Every car is manufactured for a particular purpose and targeted to a particular class, gender, etc. A buyer buys a car to serve a purpose. A benz S-class owner could as well have a Kia Picanto. The Kia Picanto could be there to serve daily driving, while the S-class is there for weekend. He knows that the S-class will be a gas guzler and the parts will cost higher than tur Picanto, but he still he wants to own it, for fun or other purposes. So no car can be termed better than the other, it depends on what you want out of a car and you go for the one that serve that purpose, which you can afford to buy and maintain. And as fot your phone comparism, you are wrong. You cant compare 3310 with Samsung Galaxy 3, but you can compare Galaxy 3 with Lumia 920. 3310 owner will only need to recharge his phone to make and receive calls, including text messages, but a Galaxy 3 owner will have to spend extra thousands every month to fully use the phone, aside the normal airtime refill. He needs to be doing daily, weekly or monthly internet subscription to be able to use the phone for what it was designed for. The phones are designed to last long, so its wrong to say one last longer. Difference is, they serve difference purposes. 3310 and Galaxy 3 are not in the same league, just like Toyota Matrix and Nissan Murano are not in the same league for comparism. Like i said, you still have a lot to learn about cars. Ikenna. |
chuqudy: I want them judged in all ramifications. Both are cars and which one is a better car in terms of all the factors you have listed. You are still making the same mistake. To judge both or compare (which one is better) doesnt add up. You can compare Toyota Matrix with Peugeot 307, but not with Peugeot 607 & Honda Accord. Is like comparing Kia Picanto with Benz S 600, simply because they are both cars. Haba! Your question should be like "Tell me the cons and pros of Nissan Murano model xx & Toyota Matrix model xx". Shikena. Ikenna |
Any thoughts on a 407sw?
I dont understand your question above. Are intersted in buying one or you already have one? Ikenna |
I urjently need a green Power Steering oil. My SV came with the Green PAS fluid (Synthetic). I noticed a small leak on the PAS reservoir and it has gone below min mark. So i need to fix the leak and refill the reservoir with the green synthetic fluid, not the mineral PAS fluid (red colour). So, if you sell one or know where i can get the green PAS oil in Nigeria, post the details here please. Thanks. Ikenna. |
donroxy: @Ikenna,And since when did you become God to tell what i could become tomorrow or not, and where i will or will not find myself? Both of us dont even know when we will breath last on this Earth and you are here telling us my future, as if you created and designed my path in life? Do you really have to go this far just to rationalize why tribalism should be promoted? Smh! Well, has it ever crossed your mind that what recently happened between Fashola and Peter could have been triggered by e-fight between Yorubas and Igbos in Politics section? Do you think none of them will get emotional after reading all Igbo and Yoruba bigots vomit on that section? Please, next time, try not to speak as if know your fellow man's future, because you dont even know yours. Its not an advice at all, its terrible. Ikenna. |
Obiagu1: Ikenna was the best Mod on Politics section but had no support from those above. The thing is, is no longer Ikenna, as far as Politics Section is concerned. My prayer is that the present mod their succeed in eradicating the virus eating up that section. To be honest, when i visited the Politics section during the Fashola and Peter Obi saga, i almost wept with what i saw going on there. It was horrible. Nearly every threads were turned to Igbos vs Yoruba because of that saga and the two tribal members were on each throat and moderators appeared not to be doing anything about it. I mailed Admin, Seun, asking him to put me back there for just 4 weeks to assist in dealing with crisis escalating into something else in that section. Minutes later, i checked the section i saw the thread OAM4J started to warn against continuous tribal e-fight in the section. So, i saw how serious he was to tackle the issue henceforth and mailed the Admin again to forget my earlier request, since action is already been taken to deal with the menace. Well, i pray that they succeed this time. But to be honest, i dont think i will ever accept to go back to section even if Admin wants me to join them tomorrow, considering what i have gathered from this thread. Ikenna |
berem: are you serious? lol! oh i remember that your television problem. so you are the one? wonders shall never end!!! am not using that number again on whatsapp. haaaa! nna, long time o!!I just checked and saw that you last visited whatsapp on 15/11/2012 @2:56pm with that number. Meaning you must have stopped using the number. So you didnt know it was me all those while i came to Politics section? Na wa for you! Ikenna |
