Car TalkRe: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by Ikenna351(op): 6:43pm On Jul 13, 2013
Emperoh: The persons is a young working class single lady. Just likes the 206 but knows next to nothing about it.
I am actually supposed to advice her but my knowledge of the Lion is quite limited. Except for your work here which is quite huge, i know nothing.

So let's see what available, going price, what is best to buy for the description above.
A lady? Hmm! A pre-facelift 206 with 1.4 L engine will be ok for her, since she is after fuel economy and not some 007 car. Get her a 206 with TU3J4 (16v) engine. At least, the 16v will give better fuel economy than the TU3JP 8v engine, which is also a 1.4 L engine. Difference is that one is 16v while the other is 8v. But whichever you find will be ok.

She should stay away from 206 GTI. They all have EW10, 2.0 L engine , which 307, 406, 407 & 408 have too. Its not a thristy engine, but will consume more than the TU3J4. 206 GTI is meant for guys who want to catch fun, not minding the fuel economy.

Though, we have 206 with 1.6 Litre engines (TU5JP -8v & TU5JP4 -16v). The 1.6 J4 engine wont be that bad either for a lady, if you find one.

As for 206 with 1.0 L & 1.1 L engine, i wouldnt go there, especially the 1.1 L engine (60hp). She wont enjoy the car if it has A/C. Will be too slugish to pull the car with A/C on. I doubt if 206 with 1.1 L engine will have A/C sef. But i think the 1.0 L engine is turbocharged (not sure).

So, TU3J4 or TU3JP is ok for a lady, in my own opinion.

Please, I dont think you would want her to call tomorrow and tell you got her a nightmare when auto trans start dealing with her. From the reviews, auto trans in 206 isnt encouraging, just like the 406. I would suggest she settle for manual trans. I don talk my own.

Meanwhile, we have house members that drive 206, i think they are in a better position to tell you all need to know about 206. I have heard about the boot refusing to open sometimes. They can explain better. Hey! Aqva, your input is needed in this matter please.

But if she can afford it, let her go for the facelifted, 206+ (2009+ model). The car looks beautiful. I meqn, very beautiful. The pre-facelift 206 is not even close to her beauty. You cant even tell the diference between the 206+ and 207.

Emperoh: SOmeone just sent me a request to buy her a 206

Can you kindly advice on what spec to go for and likely issues?
Is the person interested a lady? Is he or she after the most fuel economical 206 or one with average fuel consumption?

Car TalkRe: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by Ikenna351(op):
@ samoy,

Sorry o! D8 never got EW series. So, its D9 then. Am not even sure we have D8 PAN sef!

Since the car is D9, the engine immobilizer fault and key symbol issues are key transponder-BSI matter. Your BSI has immobilized the car and its not recognising the transponder on the key plip anymore. Thats why you are getting "engine immobilizer fault" and the key symbol on the multifunction screen and cluster. Something went wrong.

Did you do any wiring job on that car recently?

Meanwhile, Check the all the fuses (fuse box under the steering wheel and one in the engine bay) and reset the bsi.

Hi all,

I realised there is a need for us to have a thread where we can say it very loud. Hence, the creation of this room.

In this room, we can derail as much as we want, discuss off topics, etc.

But please, no derogatory words, sales, adverts, spams or posting. Other than these, fire on!

*Note that this room is not for posting our normal car issues and seeking solutions for them. We have the entire section, outside this room, for that.

uboma: Just because I commended Siena for a job welldone and promised to contact him as soon as I have need for the supply of parts, is that y u hid my post? Can't one commend a good work? @ Ikenna351, before now I saw comments of other members bashing u on how rigid and demeaning u can be, I never knew their accusations were true until now. U just proved it urself. I wish u would open my comment for others to see and judge whether it was a sales advert or not. My feeling is that u are just being jealous of Siena in the way I commended him for being explicit and honest with the supply of t-die's parts. I'm aware that u refused to heed the counsel he offered to u some time ago, hence now is ur time to get back at him indirectly. Well you can continue to sulk for all I care...

Car TalkRe: Car Battery by Ikenna351(m): 7:37pm On Jul 11, 2013
2 days ago, i found my D9 battery flat. So I decided to swap in my Baby's battery (sealed battery) and deal with the flat one later. A thought came to me, "How am I sure that this sealed battery is actually dry or gell cell battery?". So i checked it. Lo & behold! It was wet cell battery sealed off.

My point is that what we call dry cell battery in Nigeria market may all be wet cell battery. Only difference is that the other has caps and can be renewed, while the other is already filled up with battery liquid and seal off (cant be renewed). But there could still be dry cell ones out there though. Check it very well before you buy.

Come on! 2004 Camry is OBDII compliant. Why dont you just scan the car that has been suggested to you? Why do you prefer to beat about the bush? To be very honest, the more they open that bonnet, the more problems they are creating for you. By the time they start bypassing the factory connections in that engine bay, the problems will become so complex that you may end up grounding that car or scrapping it.

Irwindickson: Yea, i think that was part of the guess work, after they did, car ran alot better. Bucking came back before getting home from the mech.
Cleaning the injectors with Carb Cleaner will damage the O-rings, which after awhile will start passing air into the intake manifold from the injectors and give such symptoms the car had. I wouldn't know if that was the cause of the problems you have fixed, but next time, don't allow anyone spray Car cleaner on the injectors with O-rings on them.

I told you in my response to your post on this issue to check the previous pages on this thread, that you will find how to reset BSI in one of the last pages. because we recently discussed on how to reset BSI unit on RapzyJ BSI issue. BSI has been one of the major discussion in the house. Most of the information we need on BSI had already been provided or discussed in the house. It will help us to go through the thread from the first page, for those who are new in the house. Its better to learn how to prevent corrupting the BSI software or getting it fried, for peace of mind.

Anyway, find what you asked for below: " How to reset BSI Unit":

Car TalkRe: Mercedes Benz C200 W202 Vs Honda Accord Ex I4 by Ikenna351(m): 12:41pm On Jul 10, 2013
A female cousin of mine drives the w202 (not sure if its c180 or c200 though). She would always praise the car whenever i ask her about her . She would always say that the fuel guage appears to be faulty, since it hardly drops, considering the distance from her house to office. But if i were to go for W202, it must be c280 abeg! I like dem powerful biko! Thats me anyway.

As for the 2002 Accord, its a nice looking car. Its roomy, more than w202. Actually, manual transmission of that Accord model year will make a lot sense. The auto transmission wahala is out of the picture. But you didnt state which spec it is? American or Euro specs? Both are 2 different looking vehicles.

Anyway, since you have chosen benz, good luck.

madey1302: Guess they ve tampered with. It only came with 1 big fan. Even if the temp is above 90 the fan wont spin not until the a/c is on.
The cooling system has a problem then. If they could remove 1 out of the 2 factory fans, then we are not even sure the system still have thermostat. Its likely it has been removed too. And the worst part of it is that someone has messed up your fans factory wiring connection. Do you stay in Abuja?

madey1302: Mr. Ikenna goodmorning. kindly confirm if it is nice i remove the thermostat for my 206. Also i realise that the fan only works when the a/c is on even at that it works for probably 30secs and goes off and picks up again after 1-2mins. Kindly advice.
Good morning.

Please, leave the thermostat as it is. You only need to replace it when it has failed.

If your temperature guage is not going beyond 90 C, leave your cooling system as it is. Dont create problem for yourself.

Notwithstanding, you can test the thermostat to know if its still ok. We have discussed how to test t-stat via the 2 radiator hoses severally in the house. Check the previous pages, you will find it.

I want to believe your fans dont work only when the A/C is on. It takes fan(s) more than 30 mins to start spinning when A/C is off. If you want to see them spin with AC off, start the car, leave it to idle for more than 30 mins.

As for the fans spinning only 30 secs when A/C is on, it could the AC thermostat setting. You could set it to last longer before they go off.

Your VIN showed that your 206 have 2 fans. Are the 2 fans spinning at the same time when A/C is on?

kadbus: hello house,
after connecting back d vacuum hose i thought dat would fixed d high rev issue but i was wrong. I researched on dis issue and finds out it was d steper dat was covered with carbon. So i cleaned it with carb cleaner, replaced it back and after dis d high rev stopped.
The Stepper Motor? Hmm! What was I thinking? I forgot to add that to things too check. My D9 (ES9J4S) doesn't have IAC or Stepper Motor, so I was stating I would troubleshoot the issue, if it were to be my ES9J4S. But if it was my ZN3J, it would be the first I would check. Good that you have fixed the issue.

Now, did you lubricate the Stepper motor after cleaning it with carb cleaner? If not, the problem may re-surface soon, worst than it was before. The inside of the motor is suppose to be oily a little bit, to prevent the valve from being sticky and gets stuck open. That's what a dried IAC would do, which I want to believe Stepper motor would do too, since its doing the function IAC does. I would pull it out, drop small oil inside it or spray in WD-40 and mount it back, if I were you.

Obose: Thanks Ikenna. I live in PH but am currently out of town. I will try to find someone to program it for me, or can your guy do it? I could send the money to him and he can do it and send to me.

Please check with your guy if he can do it.

Secondly, I dont have the car confidential card unfortunately and I am not close to any peugeot dealership here. I do have the vehicle papers showing that the car is mine but since I did not buy it brand new, the license and change of ownership is all I have to prove ownership as required by FRSC.

Please let me know if your guy can help, I will be willing to pay for the key to be programmed and for the codes if there is a suitable dealership there in Abuja.

Thanks a lot and keep up the good work. You are a life saver.
It cant be done off the car via pp2000. It has to be done with the BSI unit connected to the pp2000 in the car. The BSI will request for the security codes during the programming. If its not the coded number in the BSI, it will reject it. Conitnuous attempt may force the BSI to lock the engine ECU, since it will see it as unauthorised owner trying to steal the car. You need that security codes.

Its possible that it can be done off the car, but not with pp2000. I believe PAN can make copies of the key as many as you want and send to you, when you order for it via dealerships. But its likely to be only for PAN productions, not imported/tokunbo. With your proof that the car belongs to you and your VIN, i believe the dealerships can make it happen. But the key plip will be ordered from Kaduna, though. A neighbour had a similar problem (lost his PAN 307 keys) and he did exactly what i said above viw ASD motors here at Area 10, Abuja. Weeks later, his keys arrived. I think he said he ordered for 3 copies. The only thing i didnt asked him was if they still programmed the plips before he could use them. We have more than 3 Peugeot dealerships here in Abuja, I think.

Thanks a lot.
I spoke with the guy this morning. He said 206 & 406 plip are the same. New one is 13k.

You can only program the new transponder to work with the car BSI with PP2000 or at any Peugeot dealership (i believe they its PP2000 they will still use). Find anyone around where you stay with PP2000 to program the transponder for you. Or you do it at dealership, which will cost arm.

Do you have the car confidential card? The BSI will request for the security codes hidden on the card to program the new transponder. Peugeot dealership can get you the security codes, i think. But you will have to prove that the car is yours, and pay for that too.

It depends on the brands of those cars. For example, Nigerians dont drive all brands and few brands sell more than others. One of them is Toyota. No matter how old a Toyota car is (even if it belongs to junkyard), you will find a buyer very quickly and at a price that will put smile on your face.

Safe journey on your trip/adventure.
