dubem3: oh yeah!Lol! The baby is fine o! I planned to travel to East 2 weeks ago when i commenced my Leave, but i had to cancel the trip to take care of a personal matter that needed urgent attention here in Abuja. Before that time, i was in a confused state. I couldnt choose which car to do the trip with. I even had to do tum-bum tum-bum. Lol! At the end, i choose the 505. My daily driver, the D9, is a very quick car and more powerful than my baby, in terms of engine output. The fuel economy is very impressive. The other day, at 3k rpm on 4th & 5th gear on Abuja expressway, it was getting 8L/100 km. When i switched it to mpg, it got 39+ mpg. I was very impressed. This is a consumption some newer I4s dont even get, yet a 2000 model V6 could do that. But, the car could so too quiet for my liking on highspeed sometimes. Which was why i chose to do the trip with the 505. The 505 maynot be as fuel economical as the SV D9, but it gives one the feeling of the speed you do with its impressive noisy roar when on highspeed. It can be very fun, abeg! Funny enough, the engine torque of my Baby is more powerful than my SV D9 at low rpm. But what can i say, i love them both. Ikenna |

Seun: I notice that the moderator stickied your survey, which is a form of advertising. I hereby charge you 5,000 naira per day for each day that the thread was sticky. Pls contact nairaland@gmail.com for our bank account details so that you can pay us asap. Thanks for your business.Lol! I was contacted by Op some days back. He said he wanted to carryout a survey/research on the impact of bad fuel on our cars In Nigeria and our car maintenance culture. And that he had a questionnaire he would want Nairaland car users/owners to fill for him. I promised I would help him, after seeing the questionnaire, which I didn't consider an advert or form of sale. That's was why I stickied the thread, but only for few days. Honestly, its just a questionnaire to me. But if you see the survey as a form of advert, then I apologize. I will take the blame. Moderator. |

Olubachar: thanks. but is peugeot expensive to maintain? I mean the spare parts, fuel consumption, engine problem etc.Expensive? Ah! It depends. What i may find expensive maynot be expensive to you. For Peugeots, we have different brands and qualities of parts in the market. It depends on the brand or quality you can afford: OEM, aftermarket, fake or better fake parts. There is nothing like "Does Peugeot give better fuel economy?". What you should be asking is "Which Peugeot model, with what engize size, that has better fuel economy than the other?". Engine problem? It depends on you, how you maintain the car. If you neglet or treat the engine anyhow, it will deal with you, just like everyother brand would do. The main thing that will determine a cost of keeping of running a car is how clean or in good condition the car was when you bought her. If you buy an abused car or carelessly used one, it will cost you more to maintain, unless you are ready to first spend fortune to put it in order before you start using it. Ikenna. |
you know atimes in stiff but tense dragging holdup you cant help but hold it down while timing when you'll have an escape opportunity? Olubachar: @ikenna, do you have any idea about peugeot 306 xsi. is it a nice car for a long journey.Sorry, i dont know much about 306. But t-die is in a better to help you on this. But i do know that the aussies like 306, especially the hatchback, for its handling. I dont know beyond that. Ikenna |
You guys really need to take it easy with Sexkillz. If you dont want his wahala, then abide by the rules. Even if you think he didnt do something right, tone down while laying your complian. You dont insult, mock or call him derogatory names and expect him to reason with you. But its very simply, if you dont want his wahala, then keep the rules. I was at General section yesterday. Lo & behold! There were topics on Sexkillz everywhere. Lol! It was the reason why i decided to visit Politics section today after a long while i left you guys. Make your case politely if you think you didnt deserve what he has done to your username. But from what i have seen, he is not doing badly. While i was here as a co-mod, Ngwakwe is one of the active members that dont use derogatory or insulting on members or make tribalistic statements to infuriate other tribes, no matter how he was been provocated. He may have disagreed with my method back then, but he never gave me a reason tail him around. Lol! If you are not a trouble maker, then you wouldnt have gotten my ban back then, and i believe Ngwakwe didnt, unless his profile proved otherwise. I dont know about now anyway. @ Sexkillz, I was discussing with an active member of Politics section i met when i was here, the other day, off forum. He said and i quote " By the way, Sexkillz is doing a very good job in Politics section. He is really trying". Its tells a lot about what you have been doing so far. Dont be discouraged by the bashings you are getting from some members in Politics section. Not all members visit complaint thread. Meaning some members who dont visit this thread appreciate the effort you are putting to keep sanity here. If i could here such compliment about you offline, then it says a lot about you and your work. Yes, you are bound to make mistakes, as a human. Pick up, move on and remain focus. Some will be looking out for your mistakes to paint you black, dont let that get to you. Well, to everyone, i have decided to be visiting here once in a while to see how its going. I wont close without saying hi to my pals back then: Dayokanu, Demdem, Texas.Cowgirl, Eko ile, Dede 1, Tolexander, Desola, etc. How una dey! You guys gave me headache back then o! Lol! Missed you guys. Hey! You all can always visit Car Talk section. Ikenna. |
chikasin4: @ Ikenna, pls which coolant is good for toyota V6 engines, my car manual say Toyota coolant to b used, but it is not here in NigeriaHonestly, I don't know. I wish i could help. I only know the brand that works well for my Lions. Ikenna |
@ikenna, do u know if I can use this total coolant for honda? Please, where do u normaly buy from?
From TOTAL filing stations. And i dont know if the TOTAL coolant is good for Hondas since i dont drive Honda. Ikenna |
By the way, its your rear differential LSD (Limited Slip Differential)? If it is, was the oil you refilled it with an LSD oil? If not, it could be the cause of the problem. Some people do add additive though, when they cant find LSD oil. Ikenna |
ZIM DRILL: every diff has oil, mine takes a litre of honda dual pump oil. remember the gears inside heat up due to the spinning oil helps to cool down and lubricate, on mine i changed that oil with one i bought on ebay, so roughly that oil is fake, it heats up and the diff start to slip thats my roughly conclusion for nowOf course, i understood your explanation in the earlier post, which was why i ruled out your gearbox. What i didnt understand was why the differential would work only when the differential oil is cold, unlike mine that would work whether there is oil in it or not, except that without oil, friction will kill it very quickly. But no matter how bad oil is in mine, it will work, but will become noisy, which will make the bearings inside to die gradually, among other things. My point is that it will work as long as there is oil in it, whether its bad oil or not, whether the oil temp is cold or hot. Thats why am confused yours works differently. Well, your explanation indicates that your differential works like auto gearbox: slippery when fake oil is used at hot temperature. Am i right? Ikenna |
its abro, but in a 1 litre container. If abro is not ok,please which do you advice I go for? The car is an 07 accord. Thanx
Am not saying ABRO coolant is not ok, but that as far as that one in the container i earlier mentioned is concerned, stay away. Na akuraku! Been there. For me, I use TOTAL coolant for my Lions and it does perfect job for them. Its green colour coolant. A container (1 litre) of TOTAL coolant is N350. Whichever brand of coolant you decide to buy, make sure is not that yellow container. Ikenna |
ZIM DRILL: UpdateHmm! Are you saying the car rear differential work exactly like auto gearbox? Because i dont see how the differential oil temperature would determine when it would work and when not to, if its not so. Normally, rear differential are pure mechanicals, if am not mistaken. Most times, they fail by making grinding noise gradually till it seize and the wheels wont move an inch. The test you carried out showed that your auto box was working when the car lost drive, since the propeller drive was still spinning, but wasnt driving the rear wheels, when in gear. Another simple test of rear differential, or a better one, would have been this: switch off the car leave it in park for auto box or in gear 1 for manul tranny, jack one of the rear wheels, making sure the 3 other wheels are on the ground, then turn the jacked rear wheel with your hand with some pressure. Whatever happens to that wheel will determine if the differential is intact or the culprit is elsewhere. If the jacked wheel rotate when you turn it, listen for an annoying sound from under that car, check if the propeller is spinning while you are turning the wheel. If the wheel and the propeller shaft didnt turn, while the car is not on handbrake, the gear is on 1 or drive, then your differential is ok. But if the wheel turns but the propeller didnt spin, you should be hearing some grinding noise at the rear difference. Meaning the differential has failed. This method is safer for auto trans, so that you dont spoil your auto box while testing the differential with the engine running, gear in drive and handbrake on. But like i said, i wonder why a rear differential will work with oil temperature, just like auto box does. Or is auto box differential different from the manual one? Or is the working of Honda differential different from that of Peugeot? This thing with auto tranny! Ikenna. |
I think its labeled Abro or so.
If its ABRO in 4 litre yellow container, run for your dear life. Ikenna |

To everyone, Try and get an Electric contact cleaner. You need it as a Peugeot owner. The electrical contacts/connectors, after certain mileage, would need to be cleaned, to ensure full required values to be passed through those contacts to the ECU from the sensors or components. Most especially, scanning your lion with PP2000 once in a while, will be showing you the connectors that need to be cleaned, as they corrode one after the other. Note that the problem is not peculiar to Peugeot brand alone, but its one the problems they are known for. As for bypassing the factory fan connection of our Lions. Well, samoy scan result has explained a lot of things to us: that its a very practice and harmful to our cars electrics and engine managements. Ikenna |
samoy: Happy sunday to all d lion owners in the house. I scanned my lion using Autoboss and below are theEngine: 1. P0481: Indication of abuse of factory radiator fan connections, i.e, the fan's low speed is no longer connected, hence the BSI noticed and stored the abuse. 2. P0141: Your downstream oxygen sensor monitoring your catalytic converter, the heater inside the sensor is faulty or no longer getting power to heat. This o2 sensor has blue coloured connector and its mounted on the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter under the car. Pull out the sensor connectors(male & female), if corroded, clean with electric contact cleaner. Then with Digital Multi Meter (DMM) and test for ground and positive power to the heater from relay. It has 4 wires. Usually for upstream sensor, the number 1 & 2 wires on that connector is the source of power for the heater in the sensor. One should be giving 12+ volts when switch on the ignition or start the car, while the other will be giving 12- (ground wire) constantly, whether ignition is on or not. Both wires are usually white. If you are getting the 12v from those 2 wires, then the relay is ok and the heater ground is well supplied. Meaning, the problem is with the heater, not the power source. When o2 heater fails, the sensor has to be replaced. Note that it has part number on it, use the number to find a replacement or buy any Bosch o2 sensor with blue coloured connector and make sure the sensor wire is as long as the old one. By the way, do you know how to use DMM? 3. P0480: Indicating abuse of factory fan connection. 4. P0485: Same as the above. 5. P0532: Go to the A/C compressor, disconnect the connector, clean with contact cleaner and push it back in. It should clear the problem. Been there, done that and problem fixed. 6. P0325: Could be that the knock sensor connector is corroded or the sensor has failed. I would start by cleaning the sensor and its connector with contact cleaner, if I were you. Do you know what knock sensor looks like? Anyway, its on your cylinder head. 7. P0341: Camshaft Position sensor Circuit range/performance. It needs to be replaced. But try cleaning the connector first. If the code pops up again, replace it. Its located on the cylinder head as well. 8. P1544: This is Peugeot Specific error code. Unfortunately, I don't have the Peugeot error code book. A friend has it. Will get copy of mine soon. Though, owning the diagbox makes me reluctant to get a copy of that book, since the pp2000 defines all the error codes or faults for me. BSI: E4: This was possibly stored in the BSI when your immobilizer was triggered on. Since your car has started. Its no longer an issue. The code will go off when next you erase the stored error codes. E70: Check the oil temperature sensor connector, if dirty clean and plug back. Check if the gauge in the cluster starts working again when ignition is switched on. If not working, replace the sensor. The sensor is usually located around or close to oil filter. E72: Same as above. Airbag: I would advice you scan ABS ECU with PP2000 to really point out the issues with the system. The PP2000 will not only state the problems, but show you images of the components causing the problems, their locations and how to fix them. ABS 4364: the code definition has explained it well. A/C B4: Abuse of condenser/radiator fan factory connection. One fan cools the A/C condenser and radiator, and the Coolant temperature regulating unit controls the speed of the fan: speed 1 & 2. The regulating unit determines when the fan should come on when A/C is switched on and at what speed. The same unit determines when the fan should spin with the A/C off when coolant in the radiator needed to be cooled off, depending on its temperature. The Coolant temperature regulating unit is controlled by CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor). So that unit is telling the BSI that its no longer powering the fan it was designed for when A/C is switched on. Now you know what bypassing of factory fan connection does to your engine management and your entire electrical system. B6: The outside temperature sensor controls the fan blower, your ventilation/AC blower inside the car. It determines at what speed the blower should come on each time you start the car, depending on the outside temperature, for quick cooling, via climate control. Probably the sensor has failed or the sensor connector needs cleaning or the sensor is suffering from harness abuse. Even the bad connections on the A/C and radiator fan is enough to cause this error. Ikenna |
kingschild123: I am making a suggestion that there should be a subforum for discussing Car Parts and Accessories instead of just focusing on only vehicles in general. If i inderstand you, you are suggesting that a Car Parts and Accessories SECTION is created, just like Autos and Car Talk section? Ikenna |
ZIM DRILL: i suspect a stuck valve,if clutches were worn the car would slip while shifting up or down but it does not, he drove the car while i was the passenger nothing he did that was out of the normal drivingHow far with the transmission? Has the laziness gone? Laziness? Yes, I have been a victim, or would i say, guilty of that too. Some weeks ago, i would say "I will replace my 406 V6 timing belt next Saturday". The Saturday would come, i would wake up, sigh and go back to sleep. "Make i rest and enjoy the weekend joo", I would say. Too lazy to lift a spanner, knowing what i will go through doing that belt replacement. One Public Holiday, I woke up, wanted to sigh but changed my mind. I jumped out of the bed and "Get behind me Satan!", i murmored. Lol! I changed to my work cloth, pull my tool bag and work don start be dat! No breakfast, no lunch and no water entered my stomach till around 4pm when the timing belt replacement was completed. Now, i dont remember how hungry i was that day while in the engine bay. Before the timing belt job, i was always scared to rev the car beyond 2k rpm, not knowing what would happen to the old timing belt i didnt know the mileage it has covered; not knowing the sound i might hear at that such rpm before the car stalls and the engine packs up, because i didnt get her to kiss the engine good bye. But now, hmm! Trust me, you do not want to know what i do to that throttle pedal when am in the mood, all because i conquered that laziness. So, again, have you dealt with the laziness? Ikenna |
It hasn't started. what are the things i should avoid doing or am suppose to do inorder not to burn off? I have done maniac driving in the roughest of terrain;i have done sudden shifting from 4 to 1..i have done sudden downshifting from 5to4; 4to3 to overtake at little contest. Also, i have shifted almost immediately from 1 to 2 and 3 to 4 to hide the engine noise and all sort of manipulation.
What you do with the clutch pedal determines the longevity of the clutch components, not just the clutch plate. For a start, dont hold that pedal down too long each time you depress it. Ikenna |
I just started driving a manual car Benz c180 from last year November cos i have been longing to actually do that manual shifting like those guys u see in the car race..and believe me i have often enjoyed it so much on highways and freeways overtime, but not on holdups because my legs always felt like burning off in Port Harcourt hold up. Also i just switch from my auto benz 190e to this without any formal guide than the lessons i have been taking while travelling on commercial buses, understudying the drivers legs during shifting cos i regard them as expert in doing that but never had a chance to understudy one in a consistent hold up condition. My surprise too is that i handle this manual thing so swiftly to my surprise that it now acts like a kind of reflex thing. My real fear use to be that of burning off the clutch.. but i'm so surprise that till date my clutch has refused to get burnt off despite the constant clutching down at holds that moves like snail and bomber to bomber maneuvering a times. So my question is when exactly do clutches actually get burnt in order to guide against it?
You will know when the time comes, that is, if it hasnt started sef! Clutch slippery is a gradual thing. An experienced driver with manual cars will know or tell when a clutch plate is failing. How the car moves from a standstill or how it sounds when each gear is pushed to its limits, is all one needs to tell a failing clutch plate. Ikenna |
ceysaga: Well let me say something. I bought my camry in February and have been having cold feet driving it cos am just a beginner. But when I saw my pregnant sister inlaw who is about my age driving the same type of car with total ease, I vex jump into mine and started driving, short distances at first and mastery of reverse movement. I can say now that driving is fun. I dnt take the car to work cos of parking space but I jump into it every weekend and am loving it.So, how many cars have you bashed so far? Hehe! Ikenna |
