I went to ASD Motors, Peugeot Dealership, here in Abuja today, this afternoon, to check a part for a friend. Then, on my way out, i decided to enter the showroom and feed my eyes. Hmm! No be small things dey there! These are what i saw: 308(2), 508(2), 3008(2) & 4008(1). Then more were packed outside the showroom. I took pics of the ones in the showroom. I wish i could upload the pics here, but they are too large. Good looking Lions! I priced the 508 and was told 8.5m (auto trans). Manual was not available, but was told would be provided if needed and would get it at 6.5m (make sense if money dey). Lol! Anyway, the 508s in their showroom have 1.6 L petrol engine (not bad for daily driver). 4008 is a compact SUV. Good looking. The one there is in black colour. Made a lot of sense while looking at it. For those who dont know what it looks like, find links below: http://www.peugeot.com.au/showroom/4008/suv/#! http://www.peugeot.com/en/products-services/cars/peugeot-4008 Then 3008. A black colour and one in Metallic colour. I would choose the black coloured one. Its a crossover, just like Honda Crosstour and Toyota Venza. Find link below: http://www.peugeot.co.uk/showroom/3008/crossover/#! http://www.peugeot.com/en/products-services/cars/peugeot-3008-hybrid4 508 RXH: http://www.peugeot.com/en/products-services/cars/peugeot-508-rxh 508 may be my next Lion to acquire, whenever i can afford it, whether new or used. The car really make sense. Ikenna. |

Note that D8 is not BSI controlled. But D9 is. Though the first D9 manufactured in1999 lacked BSI. Ikenna |
RapzyJ: Hi All and many thanks to Ikenna and the rest for all your good work here. I put the wrong key to start my 406 EW10 peugeot then when I tried using the right key, it just wont start it kept showing a key sign on the dashboard display. What can I do? thanks in advance. What can i say. You have immobilized your lion with your own two hands. Lol! I have said it several times, BSI is there to control your car body electronics and protect your vehicle from being stollen or started other than its key. How could you have ignored this? There is no how on Earth you can start a BSI or Mulplexed system Lion witbout its key programmed to be recognosed by the BSI unit. How many Lion with BSI has been stollen without the cars key? Can anyone prove me wrong? Because it will really break the record. Peugeot may be annoying with its electrics, but you are sure of coming back to meet your car wherever you park it. Well, have you tried to reset the BSI unit? The reset procedure has been treated somewhere in this thread. The sign key means the car has been immobilized by the BSI. Meanwhile, i hope you close all doors while trying to start the car? I hope the kep remote/plip (small black box the metal part of the key is inserted into) is still attached while cranking the engine? Have you tried removing the battery negative terminal and reconnecting it? Do you know the procedure for removing battery head? So that you dont complicate matters blowing up the BSI unit. I cant think of anyother thing now. |

bam1: When I bought my car some years ago, I have to pay for registration and get all my vehicle particular, after paying Government all due, I was issued a plate number in which without payment you can never get it, which means that it belongs to me, lately I wanted to get the new plate number in which I have to pay for and I was told to return my old plate number, which I used my money to get, how does dis sound, dis is my property not government property, why is government collecting the old one? can any1 giv me a detailed reason for this? I`m tired of Naija government oooooo. As far as Abuja is concerned, no one ask for the return of old number plates while issuing the new one. All they need for renewal of number plate are your original last renewed vehicle papers, copy of your drivers licence, a passport and 30k. You will get your new number plates and renewed vehicle papers in few days. Ikenna. |

Pataki: Ikenna, what has warranted this attack on me from one your ''ibo'' brothers?Next time you address me as "ibo", you wont like my reaction on your profile, trust me! Ikenna |
tundesto: What does that mean? What is it used for I'm a prospective Lion owner.1. It stops Squeaks: Penetrates and lubricate hinges, etc 2. Drives ourt Moisture: Drives out water on metal surfaces e.g electrical contacts, etc. 3. It dissolves grease, gum, adhesive and leaves protective film against rust, etc. 4. Loosens rusted parts: Thoroughly penetrates and loosens rusted, corroded and seized bolts, nuts, etc. 5. Etc. For Lion owners, WD-40 takes care of no. 2 & 4 which are peculiar issues with Peugeot electrics. Ikenna. |
For those in Abuja, I went to Shoprite yesterday and found WD-10 available. If you are a Lion owner, trust me, you need it. The price is N1,800 (N1,799). Ikenna. |

dayokanu: Who did that in the first place? AT least 10 post on the thread referred to Yorubas as hausa slaves, the only response who challenged them and gave an alternate view was hidden Yet the others were left.I did, because of tribal slur in that your hidden post. Or would you have preferred ban? Ikenna |
I may not be implementing all the forum rules, but i take insults on members, members families, tribes and tribal slurs seriously. I will say it again, its Igbo not Ibo. @ dayokanu, Last night, about 3 members insulted you in this section. How did i know? Because you quoted them without insulting them back and i saw those posts, because i was following you and still i am. The 3 members are serving their 7-day ban since that last night. You maynot like me, what am doing or why am following you, but if i were you, i would make use of the immunity you have now: No one insults you or your tribe and get away with it, as long as you dont insult back. All i need from you is to quote the post and it will be taken care of. I would advice every members am following to make use of this priviledge/immunity while it last. Please, note that insulting a member's family also means insulting the member. Ikenna |
dayokanu: Ikenna Afam or OAMJ when are you addressing the above?Taken care of. Ikenna |
Afam4eva: You'll get banned if you ever address me by "Afam the Bigot". It's better you don't include me at all.Dont bother, i have already taken care of him for violating rule 19. Ikenna. |
Its normal to get small sparks sometimes when reconnecting battery terminals, depending on how many gadgets are on. But if you are getting too much spark, then a relay is constantly on or a gadget that shouldn't be on is on. I would start with the boot light. If your boot light still lit when you open he boot, then I would check it if I were you. Close the boot, try from the rear seat and peep into the boot if the boot light is still on. Its usually the culprit that drains peoples battery when the boot bulb switch fails. If that is not the issue, then check the relays. Switch off of the cars inner light or anything that gets lit when battery is connected. Then get someone to try reconnecting the battery terminals while you listen for any click from any relay. If you are not sure where the click sound is coming, let him keep trying until you find the source of the click. If its coming from a relay, then the relay is powering itself on or has a connection problem and would drain the battery if left overnight. You can also try a safer method of testing relay. Try pulling out all the relays you can lay your eyes on and pushing them back on. Anyone of them that clicks when pushed back to its connector is faulty, meaning its powering itself on. This method is safer, but you will need to know where all the relays are located. There is something else to test. Check if the body of the car or engine is having +volts. Get a DMM (Digital MultiMeter), set it to 20v, connect the positive battery and disconnect the negative head of the battery. Place the red lead of the DMM on the metal part of the engine or on the car body not covered with paint, then place the black lead of the DMM directly on the battery negative head (not on the disconnected ground wire). If you get -12v, then its ok. But if you get 12v, then the positive wire is touching the car body or engine somewhere, or a wrong connection is causing it. It will be draining your battery, since some of the components could be triggered on because of that. Find the wire causing the problem or the wrong connection and fix it. Did you do any electrical work on the car before you started experiencing the battery draining issue? What about your car stereo? Hope you are not leaving it on Demo when engine is off? How are sure your battery is still ok? Ikenna |
I would bleed that cooling system, if I were you. For the coolant to be flowing out from the coolant expansion container means there is air in the system. Honda Accord '99 model has bleeding screw/plug, I think, depending on the engine type. Stallion77 can help you on the location of the bleed screw on the engine. Though I didn't get the symptoms you stated above, but I think you should try the bleeding first. I don't know about Honda, but for Peugeot, the best time to bleed the cooling system is when the engine is cold and the engine must not be running. Note that after bleeding, you may need to top up the next day. It may go down a little after some hours of usage after bleeding. And please, use coolant, not water. Most coolant in Nigeria are already premixed. And please, don't mix two different colours of coolant (blue and green or green and red). The coolant will turn to something like mud after a while if you do so. Use only one colour. Ikenna |
tundesto: What if you are already in the market place comparing those cars especially those going to Cotonou? It will not be convenient for us to come home to post the VIN and go back to pick it. Is there no other way we can discover that maybe it is written somewhere in the engine.Yes, there is. owoblo345 did say the engine type is stamped somewhere on the engine block. I tried myself to locate the number on one but i couldnt find it. I think owoblo345 can enlighten us more on that. Ikenna. |
I want to buy a 406 but I'm afraid of fuel consumption. coz they say compared to toyota, 406 fuel consumption is high. how true is this? pls advice. I'm a famly man & my salary is almost average, so i want an ECONOMY CAR, nevertheless PEUGEOT 406 is my CHOICE. Pls ADVICE ADVICE You may wish to reply me here: rabiu.usman@gmail.com
So far, all my Lions have been V6. And V6 is not an Economy car. So, am not in a better position to answer your query. We have a lot I4 406 users here who can help you on this. But note that 406 parts are pricey. Ikenna. |
Please house, while assisting owoblo345 in the car hunt, we observed that EW10 (2.0 L) resembles EW7 (1.8 L), both petrol engines. A lot of people will likely have EW7 in their Lions engine bay, thinking that they are EW10. Trust me, you wont know the difference. I couldnt even tell the difference until i did VIN check and realised that some of the 406 we saw thinking their engines were EW10 were actually EW7. So, be aware of that when searching for a Lion to purchase, depending on the engine you are after: EW7 or EW10. Difference is that one has more power than the other. Then, we have 3 EW10 engine type as well. EW10 (RFR) has 145 hp, EW10 (RFN) has 135 hp, while EW10 J4R has 132 hp. So if you want to know the true engine type and engine identification code, irrespective of what it looks like, post the VIN here and i will get the details for you via Peugeot database. Will also include everyother details about your car that you want to know in the report to post here. It will also help you know which engine oil recommended for your engine. Also, if you are hunting for a lion to purchase, post the VIN here, so that you will get to know car specifications and if its factory LHD or RHD. Ikenna. |
owoblo345: Ok guys, i'm now officially a member of this threadCongrats once again and welcome to the house. I pray that you enjoy your newly acquired Lion. With 170 hp and 6-speed manual, it will give you all the fun you can ever imagine. Though may annoy you once in a while with the typical Peugeot electric wahala. Lol! Enjoy! Ikenna. |
