bibiking1:
It would amount to an utter waste of time to comment on an incoherent piece of misinformation. However, i was drawn blithely to illusion2's wrong assertion that Awolowo never meddled in his party's affairs! Please revert back to the year 1965 and the chaos of 1966 between Awo and his hitherto godson Akintola
And what happened then? I never said he 'didn't meddle in party affairs',what I said was "Awo never had an overbearing attitude to his partymen"in the mould BAT is purportedly going!

The Akintola story basically boiled down to disagreements with the future direction of the party ,although thats a long, long story for another day !

For the doubting thomases,I would only say . . ."there's no smoke without fire"
Indications have emerged that last week’s resignation of former Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Information and Strategy, Mr. Segun Ayobolu, was not basically due to health crisis as originally announced, thus leaving members of the State Executive Council to wonder if the health condition of Ayobolu was so critical to warrant his resignation.

THISDAY gathered that Ayobolu was compelled to resign his appointment because he “is a die-hard patriot of former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose relationship with Fashola has been described as frosty, grim and hoarse.”
Both Fashola and Tinubu have however maintained a silent mood on the crisis.

THISDAY gathered that Fashola had indicated that he could no longer trust his former aide as a member of the State Executive Council because of adverse implications it might have on his political calculation for the 2011 general elections.

The governor is said to be secretly lobbying his party leaders to enable him get a re-election, even though he publicly said recently that it was premature to talk about 2011.

THISDAY learnt that Ayobolu’s problem with Fashola started before the governor was nominated as the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Congress (AC) in 2007, a position to which Ayobolu among other Tinubu’s patriots opposed. But after his nomination, Ayobolu, like others, had no choice other than to throw his political weight behind the party’s candidate.

But given his diversified communication skills, it was gathered that Tinubu had to nominate him to be Fashola’s special adviser on information and strategy after Fashola won the 2007 gubernatorial race in Lagos state on the platform of AC, though Ayobolu did not have it good serving under Fashola .

Further investigation however shows that the former special adviser “is actually sick, but the nature of his illness does not stop him from effectively discharging his responsibilities as the information and strategy adviser to Governor Fashola.” But while addressing the council meeting last Monday, Ayobolu spoke clear and loud, suggesting that health problem is not a true reason for his resignation.

Ayobolu last week formally announced his intention to quit the Lagos State Executive Council over persistent health crisis which he said he had been battling with since 1984 when he was a student in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

What planet are you coming from? This is Nigeria my friend. . . at the moment politics is being played at such 'dirty' level, until those of us dorning suit & tie, decide to get interested, which is what Fash a SAN has done. Lets support the man & like minded people against political jobbers.

Na wa o ! Thanks for the update.

Like I'd stated before in another thread,Tinubu will lose all the respect  all forward looking lagosians have for him,if he continues with this plot.

The fact is,our parents had to wake up one day to the fact that we had become adults, its usually a very difficult time esp when they (parents) recall changing ones diapers, breastfeeding, taking one to school etc.  However, its a fact of life that we all one day will grow up. and there's a popular Yoruba saying that the child grows up to catch up with the adult.

Nigerians (and most especially Lagosians) are  increasingly getting politically concious. The days of one man calling the shots are over.

The end game as I see it is this.

1. Tinubu insists on the current destructive path and Fash wins via another party;the repercussions of which would include the end of any national aspirations of AC as a party/force. .  .outside the regular press briefings of Lai Mohammed  grin

2. The infighting gives PDP a chance to get into Alausa& that should be goodbye to Tinubu as a political factor in Lagos & SW.

3. Even if BAT(Bola Ahmed Tinubu) succeeds in this current misadventure,I'm more than certain that Banire or Ikuoriji will follow the same path,if they become Govs.

If any one knows Asiwaju, please help tell him he should not assume anything. . . . .and also practice the progressive democracy he preaches. . . .Awo never had an overbearing attitude to his partymen. . . .take note. . . everyone is watching you.

History is on Fash's side, few godfathers win this game in Nigeria, esp if the incumbent is performing

I'm sure the early church had their challenges as well. They had the rich and the poor. They had corrupt preachers who favoured certain people because of ther wealth. They had occultic people who did magic and tried to use the name of Jesus to vover up. Yes, circumstances may have changed but attitudes remain the same, so it is absolutely possible to live like the early christians. I won't deny that obviously we have more obstacles, as temptations are now easily accessible, but then we have guidelines on how to avoid these.
When I say we're living in a different world now,I'm talking literally & not necessarily spiritually. The spiritual aspects may actually be similar. Economically speaking the early recorded church in Acts practised what we now call socialism;everyone brings everything & we all share, that isn't practical today.

The main gist for me is that we should stop being gullible. . . . . .reason everything out. . . . . . . . . .stop all these "because this 'man of God' said it,so it has to be true". . . .we have more than ample evidence to show that 'men of God' can (and continue to) make mistakes.

Secondly because he is a 'man of God' doesn't mean he is more important than you ! God created everyone of us for a purpose !

Because we are corrupt and greedy, that's why. We christians are seeking first money, power and "breakthrough", when we were commanded to seek first the kingdom of God. How far have we strayed from the first set of christians. If we go back to the book of Acts and study how the first generation of christians lived, we would be ashamed of ourselves. No one is saying that all christians should live in poverty, especially in Nigeria where poverty is seen as something worse than leprosy. It's all about living to glorify God, not living to make money and show everyone that you're not suffering.
Partially true. . . . but we can't live exactly like the early christians. The world is very different now. The Bible should always be read in context.

REAL TRUTH:
Now just imagine a thing like that?? Pastor Bimbo's tape message still does great things in peoples life,,,how can someone be saying because of the way she dresses,,then she is going hell,,,in that regards,,whoever told anybody that the cloth we wearing now is what God wants us wear in the first place,,,as humans,,we should be wearing aprons, leafs and palmfronds,,
The main objective is to have people in this perpertual fear of going to hellfire,so they spend every day of the week  in church . . . hoping & praying to make heaven. Continuously giving their all and  questioning nothing. . . . ,  . . .  & yet from this 'revelation' nothing is guaranteed. . .meanwhile pastor is sorting himself in this life ,but encouraging you to forget this world & invest in your eternity. . . . grin grin

REAL TRUTH:
My guy you actually beat me to this,,,Kumuyi has only 2 children,,,and they both are studying in the US,,,What is wrong with Nigerian Unversities?,,On a more seriuos note,,,I only have respect for Kumuyi and Bakare amongst all Nigerian pastors,,,however people should always use their heads when dealing with any pastor whether they kumuyi or Bakare,,,Imagine the scenerio U just painted,,,if your dad turned down that opportunity,,what becomes of your generation in a country like Nigeria where pastors now sends their kids abroad to stduy,,,
Precisely. . . . .so rather than people applying common sense to whatever they hear in church, they take it hook, line & sinker. And whenever anyone raises any issue you are working for the devil. My GO has a house in the UK. I respect him,but people should open their eyes. . . .

Its a really sad fact. . . . . ,

I recall something that happened a few years back :

My dad worships with deeper life, now I have nothing but respect for the GS of deeper life (pastor Kumuyi),but  during one of his sermons ,he preached against US Visa lottery, calling it 'modern slavery'. . . . my dad(like most church members) accepted this funny point of view & we had an argument about this.

Now I came across a magazine article recently in which pastor kumuyi stated that his 2 sons are studying in the US.

Now ,why would you paint the US as some sort of slave depot, while your children are trying to get a better life there?

The bible says," except a man repent and be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God".
For any one at all to see the kingdom of God he has to be raptured first. Your license to be raptured is by identifying with Jesus. You identify by giving your life to him (born again)
Soooo, you can now draw your conclusion.
Update : To ENTER the kingdom of God you need to be 'born of the water & of the spirit'(John 3:5).

The word 'Rapture' as you may well know is not mentioned in the Bible,it was coined by early christians to describe the events in 1Thess 4 (15-17).

These two events(Kingdom of heaven & rapture) tho' related arent exactly mutually exclusive.
