Zikkyy: This is very false statement. If tithe was essential for the work of God, the apostles would have collected tithe. Please don't let anybody deceive you.
you forgot to add that the practice of tithing is more sustainable universally and in any time frame as compared to following the steps of dropping all our property at some apostle's feet.

Remember the warning about bearing false witness.

Goshen360: LIES, there's bible verse that says tithe HAS COME TO AN END! Will you repent if we show you again?
There is no such verse except you're trying to twist that verse that says something about the end of THE LAW. Tithe is not the law, infact you already know that Jesus said mercy, judgment and faith are more significant parts of the law than tithes. You have a problem with the letter.

alexleo: whether it is right to make tithe mandatory or not is what i dont know( at least based on the points that you people have made against it so far) but what I am saying is that the bible did not condemn it and we shouldnt condemn it. Whatever reasons people are bringing here to condemn tithing remains their own views because none of the quotations in the bible outrightly condemned tithing. Yes the apostles didnt tithe yet they didnt condemn it too. So why should somebody come and outrightly condemn it? Where it was mentioned in the new testament there was no condemnation of it and none of those quotations branded it as a sin or an evil. Yes its easy for people to accept the cheap anti tithe message because most of them started tithing with the mindset of becoming rich and when they have read from you people that giving tithe does not make them rich they find it unreasonable to continue it but those of us who are giving tithe with the mindset to support God's work and also for the fact that tithing is in the bible and its not condemned, WE CANNOT STOP. My dear, human beings easily accept cheap messages and anti tithing is one of such cheap messages. Who wouldnt stop tithing easily when he is told that he wouldnt benefit anything from it as he thought before entering into it. See how easy it is for people to accept anti tithing message and quit from it under the cloak that it is evil and sin, yet i tell you, how many of such people have also dropped the sin of fornication, adultery and lying etc as easily as they ve dropped tithing? I know that most of the people here claiming they are dropping it because it is evil are just empty barrels that are making noise. If it is evil, have you also easily dropped other evil acts in your life? Only God knows. We know that for most of you anti tithers, Its not about dropping an evil practice its all about the flesh that always wants to gain all the time( same flesh is driving those pastors who preach tithe as if thats what holds their life). Its very easy to drop tithing because it translates to more savings, yet when it comes to this other sins, it becomes hard to drop. This flesh likes cheap gospel and I WILL NOT ALLOW MYSELF TO ACCEPT CHEAP GOSPEL. TITHING IS NOT EVIL AND IT IS NOT WRONG.

frosbel: always misinterpreting my statements, not sure why smiley

Tithing can preached in the right context of how it was practiced and how it was fulfilled in Christ our Lord.

However, to preach it as a mandatory practice among the brethren is simply and worryingly false.
you're always too proud to accept your mistakes. Any literate fellow knows the exact meaning of what you wrote. Your foxily changing it to what Debo's saying is alarming. Jesus died for you also.

debosky: If you abolish the requirement for priesthood, to whom do you give tithes? Where have tithes not been given to a priest? Even Abram's tithe went to a priest did it not?

If, by your assertion, the requirement for a priesthood has been abolished, then it follows logically that those acts associated solely with priesthood are also abolished. Do you agree?
But you know she was referring to the levitical priesthood. na wa oh.

Goshen360: Go & sit somewhere if you have nothing meaningful to contribute. What's head knowledge you people scream about sef? If you can speak about the word without looking at the bible, isn't that a function of your mind that also works with your brain in your head?
Rather have nothing to contribute than contribute poison, and remove from the word of God just to get attention. Even a sinner knows that God is our Father so i seriously wonder what you're trying to convey. Ask the average person on the street, the secular musicians and the nollywood actor/actress and they'll tell you about 'Baba God'. Everyone sane person knows God is our Father. The Bible clearly teaches that Abraham is the father of every believer. It is expedient as that's the way to be blessed by the seed Jesus Christ. Go and learn what it means to say that the letter killeth, it is the Spirit that gives life.

Ubenedictus: yeah, it seems they draged d arguement out of the tithe thread. I don't understand how their anti tithing doctrine has lead them to deny that abraham is our father in faith.
That's what's at the back of their minds. That's the subtle goal/end of this 'reveletion'.

frosbel: Tithing is wrong from all perspectives and is a doctrine of demons.

Enough bible verses have been quoted to debunk this myth and source of greed, scams and outright 419.

As far as we breath , we will fight to free the brethren from this mockery of our salvation.
saying this lie repeatedly doesn't make it true. There is not one single passage in the whole Scriptures that is against tithes.
As usual, you think your salvation is hinged on tithes. i'm out.

DrummaBoy: .
Image 123, at the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses a matter is confirmed. I would take you seriously if you can find another instance in the NT where Jesus alluded to tithing directly or indirectly
You would take me seriously? As in, seriously? i don't need you to take me seriously, it matters not. i'm yet to see one passage, one witness speak against tithes in all of Scripture, old and new. You're ready to go against tithes without one single witness, but you need three witnesses for believing. I'll say like Abraham, neither would you believe even if you were presented 3 witnesses.

@op
i may so say you did run well, WHO HINDERED you that you should not obey the truth? This persuasion is not from God, a little leaven leavens the whole lump. i can bet on how true these words always are, watch.
1. Tithing is not legalistic, whatever that means. But i obviously don't see it in colossians2. But the antitithers agree on your point, so long as it helps their cause. If one quotes the same colossians to justify tithing, they'd cry blue murder and Scripture twists. Jo's principles readily come to mind.
2. As shallow as concluding that the OT prophets like Jeremiah, Ezekiel and co never observed the Passover as there is no Bible record, or Daniel was not circumcised, or none of the disciples had a wife or mother-in-law except Peter.
3. Neither is there Scripture evidence that the Sabbath was on Sunday.
4. i cannot speak for your meaning of the word 'recently' and your denomination discrimination.
5. What is wrong with prosperity? Do you want/pray for a prosperous life or a life of suffering and want?
6. Almost all of the Bible is primarily to a jewish audience, what does it matter? In the real new testament, there is no Jew or Greek, circumcision and uncircumcised mean nothing. In the twisted new testament, its all about holier than them, sects and denominationalism bigotry.
7. Read Matthew 23:23 until you see light. These things ought to be done.
Christianity Etc › Re: Clear Me On This 2 by Image123(m): 10:54pm On Mar 29, 2013
Some quick sentences in the spirit of. the season for i agree with Ihedinobi's comment and as i initially said, 3,4,5... are been birthed. What we should seek is to grow in our knowledge of God, not necessarily our study of God, and be careful for knowledge puffs up. seek for edification.
On first question, what does it really matter? Jesus was and is often misunderstood anyway even when He speaks plainly in popular language. But take heed what you hear and HOW you hear. And let him that has ears hear as not everyone has ears. And if you would hear His voice by whatever means, harden not your heart. When your heart is hardened, you'll hear what you want, or hear nothing. Many people are hardened BTW. And He was very coherent BTW, He gave instructions to John, forgave a thief, asked for water, and declared mission accomplished quite coherently.
On the second question, Jesus paid for sins on the cross in the shedding of His blood. It is the blood that makes atonement for the soul. The punishment/wages of sin was borne on the cross. The wages is spiritual death/separation from God. He suffered that on the cross after which He declared "it is finished". In hell, He made an open rout/ shame of the enemy. He plundered the place and gave gifts. Now, we can live in victory over sin and satan. Are you?
On the third which i'm thinking would be the final i may indulge, its like asking why God allows anything, freewill. God never required it, Jephthah made a rash vow but was faithful to it, he's an hero of the faithful BTW. But his sacrifice didn't cleanse his sin or whatever. It was a promise, and i hear that a promise is a debt. If I promise you a cow, i owe you one, though not required.

you are speaking from the level of knowledge to which you are privy for now. Just like your name is image 123, does not mean you can not have image 12345 and so on.

You can only grasp what your state of consciousness can allow you to grasp at a point in time until your consciousness expands further.
Just maintain your stand like i said before and allow others to learn from whatever channel they can.
No religion has a monopoly of truth. all are just presenting parts of it according to their level of consciousness. If you are then ready to accept a part as a whole then it is very fine with me. Stay with it and let others be.
i can say exactly these same words to you and it makes perfect sense. Have you received forgiveness of sins?

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Forbid Sex Before Marriage If He Made It So Pleasant? by Image123(m): 9:59pm On Mar 27, 2013
Deep Sight: Are there different Gods?

God is the creator. If he puts a natural craving within your system, you had better not think urself wiser than him. Its there for a reason, just as surely as hunger and pain are there for reasons.

Now, I charge you, as your sacred master, fall upon the next thing in skirts around you and do holy justice to her.
There are many gods but the Christian God is the true and living. Natural cravings are no excuse for lack of self control. There are procedures and standards to follow. If you naturally want to urinate, you look for where and even when to do it. Its no excuse to excrete right on the spot, or in the nearest gutter, or even in the opposite gender's toilet. Like enilov said, hunger is no excuse to take another's meal or eat uncooked food. There are standards and procedures. The same God that gave us emotions and desires also gave us reason(ing) and the two have to balance. It's usually a disaster to be propelled by one without respect for the other.
