thehomer: Yes. Like he had on Jephthah's daughter? Or like he had on those Canaanites whose massacre he ordered? If that is God's mercy, I'll be having none of it thank you.king of fallacy, accept my greetings. |
i like the grammar dissipated here. |
^ when folks meditate day and night on confused commentaries of nl members instead of investing even half that time on the bible itself and on prayers. Every sule, emeka and ojo's thought are taken in especially when its vociferous. Frequency of idea is mostly mistaken for intelligence. |
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. |
you think like a child, don't worry, wait until jungle justice hits you or yours wrongfully or rightfully. |
frosbel: so you are a robot ?no I'm not. i was on the assumption that readers like you passed through primary school and should therefore know the meaning of 'primarily'. |
when you seek to understand God primarily through the brain, you'll die. The bible warns already, Heaven is not begging for citizenship. |
highyo my very person, top striker. |
beware of delusion. |
kulyie: in nigeria, two wrongs make a right.violence solves a lot, especially for erring leadersso two r. ape incidents on one person will be right in nigeria from your viewpoint? Is it everyone that has the right to determine and exercise judgement on others? |
@frosb, I'll also like to add that my initial paragraph to which you replied 'shocking' is actually a paraphrase of the scripture below . John 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth. |
frosbel: I have not read so much gibberish in a very long time regarding the use of our brain.waoh, i was getting impressed, i thought you would fully addressed what i said, but as your usual lazy self, you cherry-picked some part, weakened and then gave the usual general, random comment. i NEVER said you cannot use your brain. It's either you have poor comprehension, or poor retention, or you are simply being mischievous. You may want to look back my post and see the following sentences in it if you really care to hear. 1. Actually, for others benefit, i hope to present the balance God expects of us. The above sentence on its own is indicative in the introduction, that there will be a sort of merger. 2. Every human is created with spirit, soul and body. We all have the privilege of using this three in their proper place. 3. The brain as USEFUL as it is, is not God's primary medium of fellowship. 4. From Adam, it is observable that 'using our brains' in the things of the Spirit will produce death. The two trees in the garden of Eden are a picture of this using your brain and faith thing. 5. I'm not saying we should 'amputate' our brains. It is God-given. It is useful but in its place. It is because we do not reason that we believe what MOGs tell us and follow them into perdition.Actually, it is because we trust and love our pastors(or anybody) that we believe what they tell us. When you trust someone or love someone, one of the evidences is that you are not always suspicious of his every action and word. It is love that God emphasizes that we show among one another as believers, not reason. i don't know what puts you in the position to state that any person is going into perdition and that some people are following them. Your spirit is very divisive and fearful, it is not okay. We now take pride in being dumb , no wonder people laugh at us.People laughed at the apostles. People laugh at God, Jesus, the Bible, the Holy Ghost. i wonder why people laughing at you is now so burdensome to you. 2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds 2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; For a christian, every THOUGHT is expected to be brought in subjection to Christ.Every imagination and reasoning is cast down. You do err, not knowing the Bible. Bring down reasoning to its proper level. |
frosbel: shocking. It's actually better to follow blindly than to follow religion with eyes wide open like many. Following blindly depicts ignorance, following with eyes wide open depicts knowing what you are doing and intentionally doing it. i don't need to explain that anyway, your eyes only picked the phrase you wanted to BOLD and comment on. Tells on the integrity of your post. No body follows God blindly, God is the author of reason, throughout scriptures we see the reasoning of GOD , he gave us a brain to reason with him and have faith in his promises and love. You have now attained the status of omniscience to make the statement in bold ba? FYI, not every believer waits to understand every dot before following God. Some just trust and obey and then later they understand better. Psa 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. If you bothered to understand my post instead of treating it antagonistically and with haste to respond, you would have noticed that i said severally that reasoning had its place. Wrong again.i don't recall saying that faith is blind following. i said Following God is faith i.e faith is following God. i talked about relying on God. Josh 1:8 Let this book of the law be ever on your lips and in your thoughts day and night, so that you may keep with care everything in it; then a blessing will be on all your way, and you will do well. The bolded in the verse is the given scriptural reason for meditation on God's Word. i don't know why a christian will say thatg the reason for meditating is so that we can blindly jump into the abyss God's word is wisdom , the more we read it and meditate on it, the sharper our reasoning becomes and the more easily we destroy the falseness of religion. Please keep reading it, you truly need to. In the verse below, GOD asks us to get understanding, but how can we get understanding if we do not reason ?Again, i've simply shown the right pedestal a christian should put reasoning especially as it pertains to the SPIRITUAL. |
musKeeto: So reason works until you give your life to Christ? Do you guys understand how dull this sounds? If you bothered to understand what he was saying, as much as you bother about the religion section, you would have seen that he was talking based on the spiritual angle. The point he is making is that reasoning cannot be relied on when it comes to spiritual matters. Just as simple as saying the legs cannot be relied on when it comes to seeing. Seeing is primarily for the eyes like spiritual matters is primarily for faith. We are not saying the brain is useless or should be 'amputated'. Try to understand what is being said or go comment on some other thread. That the hands are not too important in pumping blood doesn't mean they are being trampled on. They all have their functions. And take it or leave it, SPIRITUAL things are primarily a matter of faith, not reason. 1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. |
ninja4life: dis is how boko haram started and we wonder why we have so much problem in dis country when d youth are not expected to use their brain and logic but to believe evryting d pastor says no wonder d church is now a business centre since nigerians are so gulluble dat dey can believe evryting dey are told no wonder those people are even competin with our politicians for buying private jets.mtcheew big foolHow i wish you had used your brain(logically) while reading my post. Instead you went all emotional. You obviously do not understand, neither can you summarise what i said. You hardly know how bh started but you're coming in as some beer-parlor authority on their humble beginnings. i didn't mention the youths in my post, i wonder how you deduced stuff about youths not been expected to use their brain and logic but to believe evryting d pastor says your comprehension seems so low, i never said any of these. Are you inebriated? Sometimes, i think it's actually better if we had to pay to post. Maybe people will think before they post then. |
Bidam: |
musKeeto:There you go, i think you're too subservient with the devil. He uses you too effortlessly imho. |
Goshen360: When God said, Come! Let us REASON together. In the New Testament, same God puts the Holy Spirit in a believer, who then are you gonna REASON with if you cannot use your SENSES? and with what are you gonna REASON if you're to come to the reasoning platform with a dumb\empty head\mind? God or Word Reasoning are biblical attributes of MATURE Christians.see Gosh quoting the law oh. Are you a man of the law ni? |
musKeeto: ^^^^^ Slave.i know. Unfortunately, you don't know that you are a slave of sin and satan. |
Ihedinobi: Was just playing with you, bro.Good to hear that. Sorry i went 'extreme' to diffuse the opposite extreme. There is the extreme that states that God saves us and we do nothing. The other extreme relies on our doing something(s) to obtain salvation. i go moderate on this. God's promises and dealings with man are conditional, there is something to be done. All in all, our trust should be in God, for it is in Him that we live and move and have our being. This 'arguement' is like any promise/plan of the Bible, like say provision. God is our Provider, our Shepherd. But we need to WORK. Yea, we can find some scripture that show God providing without people working, but on the average, we are expected to work, evn though we trust Him for our DAILY bread. Jam 4:15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. In God's plan of salvation, we are saved and yet being saved, and shall be saved. We have eternal life, but will yet have access to the tree of life. Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. We are not all tasters of salvation on the deathbed/deathcross. The majority of us that have received God by faith, are expected of God to live lives of living faith. And living faith is a faith with works. Jam 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. To be saved, the theif on the cross had to ask. Conviction is not enough. Many people were convicted in Christ's front yet unsaved. Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Joh 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. Jesus often said "Thy faith has saved thee". Faith MUST be exercised, and faith must be in God. It is God's gift but we need to stretch our faith hands to receive. If it was all God, no input from us, we will all be saved, the whole world. Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Faith MUST be exercised. Without faith, it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him(God). The two flow like breathing in and out. You don't own oxygen, neither are you alive by your power, but you simply have to breathe to stay alive. It is not the breathing that makes you alive, it is God, for in Him we live and move. Without Him, we can do nothing. But if you stopped breathing, you will not be alive though kept by the Almighty power of God. One actually as to Come unto Him, Open the door, Drink, Take, Believe. If you can believe, you will see. The unwritten clause then is that if you don't believe, you will not see.Ephesians has 6 chapters. Chapters 1-3 tell us primarily what God has done or is doing for us. Chapters 4-6 tell us primarily what we should DO. We should not take it in isolation(s). |
frosbel: It means THINK , don't just blindly follow religion.Oh, thanks for the definition, though it remained ambiguous. Because people who agree with person A are seen by person A as thinking. As to blindly following religion, it's actually better to follow blindly than to follow religion with eyes wide open like many. To the real issue however, there is no wrong in following God blindly sometimes. Following God is faith. Abraham followed God 'blindly'. He didn't seek permission to use his brains o man of God. He was called to an unknown place from the land of Ur. He was told to go and sacrifice his only son. I'm not going to expand on that and numerous other instances in the Bible and of God's expectation of believers. Actually, for others benefit, i hope to present the balance God expects of us. Every human is created with spirit, soul and body. We all have the privilege of using this three in their proper place. The brain as useful as it is, is not God's primary medium of fellowship. It is much secondary, if not even 'tertiary' in understanding spiritual things. People who focus on using their brains would ALWAYS end up dead spiritually. They continue to live dead lives, produce dead works and preach dead messages. 2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. It is the spirit that gives life. Except the Spirit breathes life, brainwork is useless. They are a lot of intelligent and brainy unbelievers who do not have eternal life. Not all of us are intelligent or intellectual, but we can all have faith. And that is the level at which God has chosen to operate, a level accessible to all. From Adam, it is observable that 'using our brains' in the things of the Spirit will produce death. The two trees in the garden of Eden are a picture of this using your brain and faith thing. The tree of life is a tree of dependence on God, and for eternity even with eternal life, it pertains to those that have right to the tree of life. It is an eternal dependence that we were made for. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is a tree of independence. Choosing knowledge ahead of life is a choice of independence. And when you eat of that tree, you will die. The pedestals of logic and intellect are vast and very much untested/untapped. Like they say, many people hardly are able to use 20% of their brain's capacity throughout their lifetime. It is wide, new logic will defeat your logic. Better arguements will be produced. It's a no-way, its a any-way. Independence from God is not the way, dependence on God is one-way basically, in 10000years, 100years or 10days. Adam was a man who got permission to use his brains. The pharisees also used their brains often. Little wonder they often missed what Jesus was saying. When He told them they would be free indeed, they quickly used their brains and said they were never in bondage to any man. For the christian, it is expedient that you are as a little child and as sheep to enjoy and experience the kingdom of God. Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Adam chose the tree of knowledge but Christ chose to save us using the tree of foolishness. 1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. Spiritual things are foolishness to the unbeliever. 1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. The natural man, the man of the flesh, trusting in his flesh will just die. The flesh profits NOTHING. It is the Spirit that quickens. It is not the brilliant idea or preaching, or the well thought out doctrine. A person can go through a verse/passage a hundred times in his life, but it suddenly takes on living meaning one day, and perhaps changes him. The same passage might not have that same impact on another day. Why? Because, its not by power or might, not by brainwork, but the life comes by the Spirit. I'm not saying we should 'amputate' our brains. It is God-given. It is useful but in its place. i cherish the words of the song writer "Take my intellect and use, every power as Thou shall choose". What the scripture says is that we should be SPIRITUALLY minded. When and if we use our minds, we should be SPIRITUALLY minded. Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. There is a measure of truth in alexleo stating that If we use only our brain we will become atheists. The very day I start using my brain only to read God's word I ll slide into atheism or free thinking(God forbid). He's only saying the truth of God's Word. that's what God told Adam and Paul told us, the letter kills. How do you use/rely on your brain to understand the words of Jesus. You will only end up asking for His crucifixion. You'll end up being thrown out of the garden of Eden. Jesus said without Him, we can do nothing. The Christian is safer being sheepish than being brainy. The wisdom of God is to rely on God, every other ground is sinking sand, and should the winds blow, the floods come, and the rains descend, the structure though intricately built, will fall. |
MAYOWAAK: I define suicide as a permanent solution to a temporary problem.nice mix. |
what is the meaning of this using the brain. Opinions say that people who agree with person A are seen by person A as using their brain. |
suicide ke? All that is needed is Jesus, the real Jesus. |
if she actually said that, she should resign. That is one dishonest fellow in charge of our nation's money. Is that possibly how she's being lying bold-faced to nigerian citizens? |
Ihedinobi: ^ What about the dumb who don't know sign language?that's logical and extreme-cased. Do dumb people pray to God? Asking is praying. |
debosky: Asking for mercy is not work - all he did was ask to be saved, and that is the only requirement for salvation.i think confessing and forsaking one's sins can be classed work. Asking MUST be DOne. |
kulyie: to start with does the king himself fear God talkless of people e.g one fat hooligan that they call oba who raped a corper.does that show fear of God,self respect and respect to his office.i know all this obas, they are too shady and diabolical.they only use culture to cover up their misdemeanours :ptwo wrongs don't make a right. |
Even if you don't fear your king, you should fear God. i can't believe that even some nominal christians on this forum support this. David was an aggrieved youth too, but he was a man after God's heart. Sin is truly a reproach. |
This is so wrong and a disgrace to the community and the perpetrators themselves. |
frosbel: I pity those he teaches, these are the dangerous people who are spreading poison in the body of Christ, subverting whole households for the love of money, their mouths must be stopped, and in our own small way, we will see to it.That's akin to a fellow in abject poverty having pity for someone like dangote. Be wise |
^ unimportant. You're only introducing more semantics and word jangle to confuse and impress. As is your custom, you refused to address all that was said. I'll wait for debo. |
