It could be for gender balance. There was a job I could not get recently because they said they needed males. They had many females in the unit.

My former job, the finance unit specifically requested for females because they were only guys.

One I know personally was staying with a family before age 18. She has finished secondary school and is about doing jamb to go to university while still working in the house.

This is something she would have never achieved if she was still in the village with her parents and many siblings...

Is the government paying welfare?

Is there free education for the kids so that it is easier for one parent to stay home since fees are covered?

If your child is at school or creche, can you make it back in Lagos traffic for instance to pick them up on time?

It's easy for you to give suggestions because you are talking from an outside perspective. But do you have kids?

Keep tapping her lip when she does or anything to show that it is not ok. You could ask the elderly or older people.

Please don't take the advice of letting her be to stop on her own. I know 2 people personally who still suck; one is in his 50s while one is about 40. Not all kids stop on their own.
