You are very right because that is not our dialect.
If only they also write similar test when coming to Africa.
English is our lingua franca.

It's the official language of the county.

It is what is taught in schools.

It is the language used while we obtain our degree in university. I might be wrong though, maybe you obtained your university degree being taught in your local dialect.

Lol, very funny. Did you tell them that you were hungry or that you didn't have clean clothes to wear?

Just tell her that "Thank you" is enough and that you have a sister with you who helps with the chores.

So he now owns her life that he can stop her from achieving her own goals and dreams. He's just an insecure bully, and I blame the wife for allowing her husband limit her.

I have heard the story and I even know the woman. The woman lives at Agbowo in Ibadan. She was the one who sang Imole Iye, Mo n goke si. Her name is Mopelola G. Never did I know they have left Ibadan. The woman seem to be talented. I can't even wait for her to release the English and Yoruba mixed song she is presently advertising. Hmmm! may God safe us with all this so call pastors and prophets of this days.
Something seems fishy.

Quickest way to get popular on Nairaland. Just align with the women bashers, join in the bashing and show your prejudice toward women.

Don't worry OP, your guys are coming to give you an e-pat on the back.

Yep.

The upbringing really matters. One can be young and wise while another can be older and foolish. Though on a general note, a lot of young ones these days, both male and female have the attitude the op mentioned.
Family › Re: Good Morning Nairalander by ImaIma1(f): 9:27pm On Jun 27, 2022
Your parents have had their own children. They should not put you under pressure to "give them a child". That child will be your responsibility, not theirs. Don't let them set you up.

Family › Re: Men Don't Want Marriage Again..! by ImaIma1(f): 1:18am On Jun 27, 2022
It's nice to identify and rule the ineligible ones out. Marriage is not for everyone. Some that can't handle it will remain single, and that is fine.

boxer022:
As bad as it sounds, you got pregnant at an early stage of your life and gave birth to a son who stays with your mom not just that, the person responsible happens to be your uncle. I have few questions for you; that your he-goat of an uncle, is he still alive? Does he know that he has a son from you? What did you tell your mother when you found out you were pregnant? How is this present situation affecting your marriage? How is your relationship with your son? Does your husband know that you had a son before marrying him?
You should never try delving into counselling whether in church or elsewhere. Because your non stop and prying questions are enough to send the person back into a shell.

Romance › Re: Why Do Ladies Keep Making This Same Mistake? by ImaIma1(f): 1:10pm On Jun 25, 2022
Rickmann:
A guy is so open about his deep-felt feelings for her but "he is just a friend'' she says..then she soon falls for the player and gets her heart broken and then has the nerve to say ''all guys are the same''..

Lately girls aren't interested in love anymore..they never take you seriously no matter what you tell them but when reality begins to set in as they grow older, you see them blaming their village people for their misfortune and running to all sorts of prayer houses looking for a husband.

What has gone wrong?
You go for the ones that still have sense to know what is important and to know that appearance is different from reality. If you go for the superficial ones, it will be the same result.

Thedon22:
There is nothing like privacy from your husband's family once you marry in African culture. Your husband's people become your people. If you don't want that you should have married a white man. In Africa, you are married into your husband's family. That is why you bear his name. You need to tolerate and develop your emotional maturity.
No where is it stated that they have to move into your house and come and cause trouble because they are now your people.

I am African, but the side I'm from, they give you space. Nobody can come and trouble your wife except you allow it. It's not African culture to interfere in people's marriages, it is an individual thing.

Yes but not having family members around doesn't feel cool either.

We that don't have any around aren't enjoying it either and wished we had plenty cry

I know that some humans can be annoying to live with, especially when they don't help in doing domestic works
It's better to stay on your own instead of have someone that will drive a wedge between you and your husband live with you.

A very close friend and "sister" had her mum inlaw stay with her for about a month. Can you imagine that the woman would go to her son and tell him not to let his wife has access to his phone. Then she would go to her daughter inlaw and ask her why her husband passwords his phone and not allow her access.

When they found out, they were disappointed. I have had my inlaws live with us for a month and I understood why my husband said he didn't want family living with us.

If it's one that has sense whether from my side or my husband's side that doesn't give me stress, and is helpful, I can allow. Otherwise, everybody "as you were!"

Woman! I have a question for you. Why would you marry from a rude and nosy family?
If we have to start selecting families we should marry from, we might miss out on the special one. Sometimes we meet a great man whose family we later find out are troublesome.

If we are lucky, the man will be someone who can protect us from his family's troubles. If not, that's where trouble begins.
Family › Re: My In-laws Driving Me Nuts by ImaIma1(f): 10:50am On Jun 25, 2022
Nigerian marriages and inlaw wahala. People don't understand that a husband and wife need their space. Having family live with you, especially rude and nosy ones is not advisable.

Ashawo pocket don run dry she come remember say she get willing maga somewhere grin

She don go collect all the prick she been wan collect, now her body don calm down.

This is why you should never get involved in boyfriend and girlfriend or husband and wife matter.

In fact, growing up in the village, it was one of the very first lessons that was banged into my subconsciousness.

That if you put mouth for husband and wife matter, na your gist them go take settle for night.

Or what would you say about those who lambasted Precious in defense of FFK or those who lambasted FFK in defense of Precious?

Reading all these eulogies that FFK is singing about Precious won’t they be seeing themselves as biggest fools of the 21st century?

Lesson: Never you put mouth for husband and wife matter.
He said they have gone their separate ways.

Please end the relationship for the sake of your kids so that you don't watch them in pain because of a selfish love. Some of these kids grow to hate their parents for subjecting them to such pain and trauma.

When the issues start, all this totori love will go out the front door. Project into the future.

Keep trying. If you are a good person, you should have someone or some people that can come to your help when you really need it. Coming here will open you to insults and jabs. But it's your choice.

Have a good night.
Romance › Re: Finally, I Lost My 4months Old Son by ImaIma1(f):
I sympathize with you for losing a child, but shouldn't you be offline trying to raise funds to save your girlfriend? This back and forth on Nairaland will not help you both.

You cannot say that you have no friends, family, loved ones that can help, that your only hope is faceless strangers. And you try to blame strangers for not giving you money to save your child. Please do the needful and leave strangers alone if there is no help coming from here.
