Seun: So in Lagos Muslims are peaceful because they are in the minority. And in Senegal they are peaceful because they are in the majority?? It's an interesting theory. It needs to subjected to extensive testing. Most people in Senegal belong to the Tijanniya and Mourides brotherhood. They teach an Afro-centric relatively moderate form of Islam.Let's not pretend its an oasis of peace. There is conflict with the predominantly non-Muslim region of Casamance- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casamance_ConflictThere was a report once about Christians in a church beaten up for being too noisy by Muslims.Other than that, its a relatively tolerant country. |

Tribalism involves stereotyping an entire ethnic group. Now,unless "Fesse" has done a scientific study of the Yorubas vis a vis other ethnicities, she is being a tribalist for making her claims. |

If people try to control women's dressings on the grounds of religion, then religion may be blamed. There are instances this has happened in both North and South. However, this is more prevalent in the North.
Of course there are cultural pressures to dress in a certain way,but there are religious pressures as well.Such religious pressures are more prevalent in Islam
Even here in London,Hizb ut-Tahrir,especially in the 80s tried to intimidate Muslim women into wearing the hijab. In such a situation,it will be natural to point to Islam |

Seun: My baby boy (if any) will simply abstain from unsafe sex when he grows up. That's a much smarter way to avid HIV. Will you be there holding his willy at all times when he grows up? Seun: Cutting off your privates will drastically reduce the risk of HIV infection, won't it? So why don't we do that?! You do know this is an illogical analogy? Unless the foreskin serves some biological function,I see no reason why we can't contemplate reducing our children's risk of HIV infection by 50%. |

Don't mind that Arab camel. The killings over Muhammad cartoons are down to Nzeogwu.Tell that to Northern Christians. There were riots in Kano back in the 50s.

litelover: interview with owusi jerrie of www.savemeafuturetoday.org on the Nigeria at 47 What is this all about? It is really all about independence! Control whether monetary, political, etc. How do you mean? The fact is that you can reduce all of human activities to ideas. Education, cars, etc started as an idea and are ideas. The coalition of those ideas is what we call an ideology. Ideas are products. They are the basis of great societies, empires, products, etc. Tell me more Madame, Albert Einstein said, insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. The ideology of an individual or a people is actually their trade product in the international market. (E.g. Money is an idea; democracy, communism, education all are ideas, i.e. the study and the practice of law is an idea that had been sold to a society, etc) a people’s ideology determines their market share in the global market and evidently controls their indigenous socio-economic strength, as it would reflect in their collective sentiment and pursuit. My economist friends would agree that demand and supply in any given industry or market (e.g. banking, real estate, education, religion, etc) is controlled by other factors. For example when the people buy into a certain ideology that defines wealth and success with certain acquisitions, naturally it would create a demand and supply in that industry. What is in it for Nigeria? Independence! International trade Market share! If your do an analytical study of the international market you would see that we need to do something to salvage the Nigerian state. In our mind, we suggest something very basic and homegrown. The fact is that every society is built on these seven pillars, these are religion, education, media, arts and entertainment, government and politics, business and family and each of them represent an ideology as interpreted by its people. Nigeria’s position in the international market presently seems like that of administrators of ideologies and not the status of producers of ideologies because in a practical sense we simply trade ideas. In the status of an administrator, you simply manage and administrate but the producer determines the direction of the market. The problem is that our present ideologies on which our systems are framed are self-destructive. What are you doing about this? · Our focus is to identify and highlight the Nigerian Product/ideologies. · Our focus is to provide a market share in the international market for Nigerians and Nigeria and · Thirdly, is to strengthen of the process. Save me a future today is a mental movement, a social initiative of Proxi limited, we take on human and structural development program in a novel stratum that identifies a people as a single entity, buys in on their sentiments and reflects on their self-actualization pursuit. For our Nigerian program we have two programs, i.e. redcard series – the gender program and burn it up campaign – for the youth and their institutions. What is novel about these programs? They are basic! We looked at the basic, for the redcard series we identified two genders living in the community, and looked at developing a gender program that is Nigerian - which we tagged redcard series (brief info on redcard series). In developing the gender program we looked at the Nigerian history, and found its peculiar need How do you mean? Madame, the fact is the gender equality campaign did not start in Nigeria; it was the average heart cry of the women in Europe specifically in the United Kingdom. Why? You see, every community have their own peculiar need or problem, the average western male has a complex problem and we should see at it is and not for cajoling. The present physiological state that we see with the African male now is the aftermath culture imposition and transfer due to colonization. The average Nigerian male in the pre-colonial times had no gender hiccups, in those days African men reasoned like lions (from where we got the name tag – lions of Africa), in animal study - the lions provide the territory – it is the lioness and the curbs that hunt. Our fore fathers had great respect for the female gender – it may interest you to do a little research on the ideology behind the dowry system for marriage, and see their thought pattern. We ask questions like…a woman, her body…to reveal or not to reveal, to conceal or not to conceal…the shapes…the sizes, the inherent pressures…. is a woman her body? These and more are things we considered when building a Nigerian gender program. By focusing on rebuilding the psychological damage that had happened to the Nigerian person both male and female. The program style is somewhat affirmative. You talked about the youth and their institutions campaign Yes, the sentiment for the youth campaign is also rather basic….You and I would agree that to mess up a structure you have to deal with the foundation if you desire to make a lasting impact, what better way to deal us a blow but by telling us that our fathers were jumping on trees like monkeys?
I tell you the truth; it takes approximately fifty (50) to a hundred (100) years to find the likes of Achilles' that would dare engage a lion in a fight but our fathers had lion's meat for breakfast at will. Those days the benchmark was killing a lion, today it is technological advancement, scientific advancement, etc. Do you know that the binary language of computers is what the Igbo's had been using decades ago, that the ancient Hausa's architecture is a model today? Where those exploit flukes or were they products of constructive thinking?
Who says the African (Nigerian) youth couldn’t deepen and stretch the concept on which the various institutions such as banking, etc are hinged on? Tell me more For the youth the questions we interact with here are. ……what/how did institutions like education, banking etc start…remember every field of study and practice we have today went through its season of societal rejection….what sustained their commitment. Madame…You know the patriarchs of our various fields of study and practice like law, medicine, accounting; etc…must have been dealing with certain ideas. Those are the things the youths should be interacting with…. for example the Asia Tigers focus on ideas like honour, excellence, etc…to be able to keep their people working for an upward of 17hours a day…. The idea here is to get the Nigerian youths to become active participators in the generation of these ideas…and not merely at the receiving end. Like the bill gates experience, we are not advocating for more school drop-outs but for more individuals interacting and deepening the principles on which education was built on…that would give a better education system, better working environment……and more jobs for our people… What have you done to address these issues? We have a book – themed uncut (redefining the gender program). Presently it is available for free on our website…, www.savemeafuturetoday.org The book addresses these issues in a novel stratum. So. . . .is a sweet wind blowing or not? |
