i understand u.

suggestions please!
Looks like you don't understand what people here have been saying as you claim.

There is nothing wrong in bringing your wife as your dependent, but it is very unlikely for it to be as staightforward as you think.

If you really want her to come for at least "two weeks", the easiest route like someone already suggested is a visiting visa. While she is here, you guys can speak to solicitors and find a way forward.

I doubt nairalanders are equipped to deal with the technicality of your questions. In this regard, it will be better to speak to an immigration consultant , if not, people won't be able to advice you or tell you what you want to hear.

Goodluck on whatever you decide to do. Even the "seasoned" advicers have avoided this thread obviously that tells you something!!

We all have different principles that we live by. I agree with you that some of her attires are just over the top, which is because i am conservative but can not impose my level of morality on others. Moreover, she looks comfortable in what she wears and gets the men's attention. Simple marketing strategy
CultureRe: Igbo And Yoruba Marriages? by Imani(f): 9:51pm On Jun 17, 2007
tpia:

1. some parts of Plateau state also seems to have a high rate of extra-tribal marriage, from what I've seen. I've had some friends with Plateau relatives, in the past.

2. And yes, at the end of the day, the gap doesnt really seem to have been bridged. In many parts of the country, the children of inter-tribal marriages are raised solely in one culture, mainly ignoring the other part.
1. Really? Why is that so? I wasn't aware Plateau had a high inter-tribal mix. But i hear that Jos is nice.

2. That has been my observation too, especially with our culture of "the father owns the child".

But i think things are changing and people are begining to realise the importance of peaceful co-existence with other tribes and cultures!

She is paid to act and not be a public figure. Therefore, she is entitled to live her life in accordance to her wishes. However, the kind of society we live in places unrealistic expectation on the shoulders of artistes, that is why a lot of them keep their private lives private especially when they can not keep up with the expectation or image required of them by the public. Then we get shocked when some of the private "stuff" are exposed. Let people live their lives freely and let the fans decide who they want to emulate.

PoliticsRe: Best Tribe For Nigeria by Imani(f): 2:28am On Jun 17, 2007
@Topic,

The best tribe is most likely your own tribe. . . .because everyone acts in their own self interest.

And in a tribalistic society like ours, it would be "suicidal" to suggest otherwise.

I just hope we attempt to get to a point where we begin to see beyond the tribe issue.

Mamajama:
Look at this pic and tell me its morally justifiable for press to put this on the front page of national news paper?
I really don't know what journalism code in Nigeria is but sometimes, the images shown in printed media are just shocking. I won't even get started on television images which can be equally disgusting. This particular image of the deceased is at least unsavory. Looks like there is no dignity for human life either in life or in death. No gory image can be in the interest of the public.

The same goes for showing alleged naked people who are alleged to have committed crimes. At least they should be "innocent" until proven "guilty" and not subjected to inhuman treatment and have their nude pictures published no matter the crime.

@Imani

What was my post about?. . .Wasn't it about zoning?. . .If ethnicity didn't matter in Nigeria, then there would be no zoning. For the mere fact that there is a zoning arrangement, that means that ethnicity does matter. Now read properly before you reply, thank you!
I can read. Thank you!

My post is not to say ethnicity is not important but to suggest that, despite the fact Donald Duke is a Cross River man and not one of the "usual" Igbo or Yoruba southern candidates from the South, his record and popularity may have blurred that ethnicity barrier to an extent as he probably would have had the backing of most of the southern tribes. This is just my opinion so you don't have to accept it.

PoliticsRe: The E-voting system by Imani(f): 1:17am On Jun 17, 2007
Nigeria is not ready for e-voting. The manual system is being sabotaged by unscrupulous officials so imagine the scale they will be able to perpetuate their atrocities with the aid of the Internet.

We need to get our priorities right. This is similar to the setting up of an "open" university when the "physical" ones are currently in shambles.

There are more pressing issues to be dealt with.
PoliticsRe: Best Tribe For Nigeria by Imani(f): 12:43am On Jun 17, 2007
Is there anything like best tribe huh

If Donald Duke was from the North, he would have become President by now. He has to wait for 8 years to even get a chance, all because of his ethnicity.

Could that also be because there is some kind of "zoning agreement" with respect to the presidency? The South had been in power for 8 years and it was only "fair" for the presidency to "revert" back to the North. I am not saying this system is right. In order words, If it had been the other way round, with the North in power for so many years, i believe the presidency would have been zoned to the South and Donald Duke would have been one of the best candidates to represent the South and would have had a very good chance of being elected.

Anyway, some english folk are very nice. My family have left the house key with one of our neighbours several times. Some neighbours have help others look after their pets in their absence.

It does foster community relations and minimises friction when people at least know each other casually. It's just a shame their is no culture of "cummunity" due to other pressures such as work.

isnt that a good thing?
Not Really.

I like the concept of balance so while sometimes i may like my own space, it is also "ok" to have neighbors that at least show some concern and care about my welfare and vice versa.

The trouble is with Nigerians. Most of us are a bunch of noisy people, especially the older generation. It is no different whether it is Nigerians in Nigeria, or those in diaspora. Sometimes, people need to be sensitive and just observe rather than be involved in other people's matters.
