Nigerian ladies are still to a large extent conservative in dressing except the nollywood ones. Some nigerian "elders" take it on themselves to correct other people's dressing anyway.

Let the government focus on the more pressing issues facing the society and the unclothedness of a few ladies will be last on his list.

I am all for decent dressing before i am attacked. But defining decency is subjective.

Lewis Hamilton looks like the real deal. However, you can't have two very competitive individuals in the same team.

The whole shenanigans at the recently concluded Hungarian grand prix is disgraceful and the thought of two team mates trying to sabotage each other's chances is quite low. Personal, i think Alonso give give the rookie a chance to shine. He has been champion for the past two years with no serious challenger. It is quite unfortunately that his main rival should be his team mate who is paid much less compared to him. There can not be two masters in one ship. Both players egos are too big to be accommodated by a constructor like McLaren. One person needs to move. My bet would be Hamilton as reports are suggesting the Ferrari team is keeping tabs on recent developments. For a change, let's have some black interest in motor racing.

No one palyer is bigger than the club. Players can come and go. The current squad is going through a rebuilding process and with time will come good again.

We do however, need to invest in more world class players. A top 4 finish is not good enough for a club with the calibre of Arsenal. We need to be winning trophies again. History has shown we tend to do better when we are classed as "underdogs". Lets hope, the squad can dig deep enough and want to win things. With Henry gone, hope there will be no more accusations of the big players fading away in the big games. Everyone should be out to make a name for themselves.

I was in Nigeria collecting data for my dissertation. I managed to travel to Calabar which is a lovely place apart from the loose lifestyle

Nigerians abroad are not stingy. I see so many sending money home regularly to relatives. Some of these relatives in turn use the money to buy the latest gadgets. It is so easy to spend other people's hard earned money.

Some nigerians at home also need to stop this attitude of "coming to greet someone that has just come back from abroad" with the intention of getting something out of that person. some people's visits have "money" attached to it.

This is not to say some nigerians based abroad don't front unnecessarily. They also need to stop that immature attititude.

If you think seriously about these issues I raised, you will discover that it is probably because of their nonchalant attitude to matters like this.
On the religious angle, Iam yet to come across any religion that supports skimpy dressing. Be it Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism etc . Any support for skimpy dressing is a support for secularism over and against our various religious beliefs.

And then come to think of it how can you say you are fighting HIV but you permit all manners of dressing under the guise of freedom. It is a well known fact that many people especially men are usually aroused by visual stimuli not to talk about the fact that it is obscene to any dicerning mind. If you allow people to dress any how then there should not be any penalty for those men whose power of restraint have collapsed thereby leading them to the ignoble part of being  rapists. The new HIV  advert  advice people to zip up and wait for sex . How is this possible when every day you are innundated with images of skimpily dressed girls. Bros and sis in nairaland lets be fair to our consience. Stand up for morality wherever you are and be counted.Gov. Fashola is on the right part. He continues to have my regard.

1. I really don't understand your aguement. What is the connection between democracy and dress code? Are you trying to say that undemocratic countries have fewer HIV/AIDS prevalence?

2. Skimpy dressing is NOT a way of contracting AIDS. It is through various channels such as having unprotected sex, sharing needles, unscreened blood transfusion etc. Skimpy dress code does not in any way give some men the right to attempt to rape a woman. Of course sensible dressing should be  adviced at all times but you cant force people to have a certain dress code.

I understand we live in a conservative society where "morality" is highly valued. But you will be shocked at some of the things the so called "moral police" sometimes get up to. Never judge a book by it's cover.

I was in Lagos recently, and some parts of the state is in terrible shape. Heaps of litter everywhere, the traffic on Ikorodu road and the third mainland bridge is terrible during weekdays. Frequent power outage, which is now worse than last year when i visited etc. Most parts of the state is devoid of basic amenities and infrastructure which is proof that the previous governor didnt do much when he was in power. Governor Fashola could do his bit by start addressing some of these issues that can improve the quality of living in the over congested state called Lagos. He was "elected" to add "value" to the state and not as a "public dress code adviser"

The Charity Community Shield is not a good indicator of how the new season will pan out.

At best, it is just a cosmetic game, to showcase the new players bought by the clubs invovled.

It is not just the Yoruba, even mainstream Nollywood is at it.

You are right, there are some really tribalistic people in our country.

However, in terms of acting, i think the quality of films on both sides have deteroriated over the years. Gone are the days of good sound acting and notable plays and scripts. Everyone is in it for the money, including the Yoruba film industry.

On a more serious note, every situation is unique and what works in a family might not work in another. People's feelings are not "taps" that can be turned on and off whenever one party feels like it. If a man or a woman, leaves his/herself vulnerableto "spiritual attacks" and goes off the marriage course, then there may be consequences Sometimes, the aggrieved party is willing and able to forgive and move on, sometimes they are not. We all have different tolerance levels. The fact that someone loves you doesn't mean that love should be exploited.

I understand clearly what batu is trying to say about keeping the family together, but at what cost? I admire the "courage" of the lady in batu's story but i can assure him things have changed. Some men just need to be more responsible.

Martins is NOT in any way obliged to "settle" anybody. However, there are several ways he can put back into "the streets that made him".

He can set up a foundation or a soccer school, if he is so inclined,  to help kids develop their talents, so that is a way to "pay back".
