Vicjustice: Imani, Vikiviko is not the bad guy that i thought he was, i've investigated him and i saw a humble sincere man in him. He's now my pal, and i see no obvious reason to oppose him. It wasn't ironical when i said that he (Vikiviko) knows better, i meant it, he actually knows much about immigration issues and embassy matters, so, i'd expect him to contribute here: He won't be pissed off because, he knows i'm for him. Can you see that i've withdrawn my posts about him? As for Armed_lion, he is my pal in Greece. Good to see you here, how are you Amani? Glad you and vikiviko have made up . Any chance with papabraowne? I am ok. Well, Armed Lion is your friend. Is that your wife on your profile? She looks lovely. |
Romance › Re: Virgin At 35! A Curse Or A Pride by Imani(f): 8:43pm On Jun 08, 2007 |
An unmarried lady at 35 is not necessarily a curse.
Most women at this age will want to get married but for some reason, is just not happening.
That doesnt mean that they have to start sleeping with just anyone.
I really don't know the benefit of being a virgin at 35, but for some people, it may mean a lot to them. |

debosky: the problem is not about male/female its about political incompetence in general
we are hailing her as a potentially successful Speaker because she has been trained in the trenches of hairdressing, what could be wrong with that?
Ngozi, Dora and others were not called hairdressers, maybe thats why their grammar was too much, Madam Ette should be more down to earth, hopefully things will change for the better. Glad you know that incompetence is not defined by gender. |
Politics › Re: Patricia Etteh: New Speaker Of House Of Reps by Imani(f): 7:41pm On Jun 08, 2007 |
@Debosky and I-man
It is not your fault.
Nigerian men complain about everything. When women are trying to be a force to be reckoned with in politics and Government, all they get is comparism with trivial issues like hairdressing.
No wonder the nation is upside down. I wonder where thugery exhibited in the senate house is learned from? Could it be the beer palours, barbershops, peppersoup joints etc?
Please let her at least start the job and her performance can be reviewed afterwards.
With the many years of male dominance in the political environment, i wonder how come we still haven't seen the light. |

nossycheek: @Topic
It is not impossible as I have 2 sisters in law aged 33 and 37 respectively who are claimed to be virgins and it seems to be true especially the older one. They have no boyfriends but impatiently waiting for the right man to show up. In fact, my husband have to ask the older one who stays indoors most of the times to show her face outside so as to be noticed by men and married off. The younger one frequents wedding occassions in order to be noticed but no boyfriend. They claim to get married as virgins. The older one spends time doing midnight prayers may be to get a husband. I know it is not easy but they are determined to keep their virginity at 33 & 37 Wow, that is a very interesting story. Sometimes, like your husband suggested, ladies need to be more outgoing, this may clash with different personalities. Praying and fasting doesn't solve all problems, what is the point of a prayer warrior who is not approachable to men? |

Donzman: NO, You can deny being Igbo all you want but that does not stop the FACT that you're Igbo. People from my village didn't have to tell the British they were Igbo before they were classified as such. If you speak Igbo and do things like Igbos do, I'm sorry but you're Igbo.
What exactly makes Egbemas/Ndonis are non-Igbos?. . .It's on you to prove the British and people who have done these surveys over the years are wrong. They speak the language, answer the name, organize their communities the same way, what else could they be? So they were Igbos hundreds of years before 1970 and suddenly they stopped being Igbos?
Stupid people abound!
I mean look at Ishmael's reasoning, he already exposed his motives before the argument got started. Igbos want to claim oil, yeah like the people who it's currently on their lands are benefitting from it. I don't recall claiming to be Igbo |

While i will use my God given brain in choosing a patner, It will be someone i know i love without any doubts.
I am surprised at stories of people marrying their spouses only to discover they were never really in love, maybe it was the personality, charm, charisma etc they loved rather than the person themselves.
However, sometimes, the love sometimes "goes away or dies". I keep hearing "true love never dies". But i am sure it is the need for companionship that is still keeping many relationships together rather than feelings of love. |

debosky: I don't know about 'beyond' any reasonable doubt oh, all these feelings based love is crap mostly
people say love is a decision, you can make it, but it may not be beyond doubt. You may have a point. For me, falling in love is the foundation of a relationship. However, one cannot live on just foundation. The foundation needs support. I may love someone that may not be right for me because the other dimensions of the relationship are not right. I look at the total package (physical, emotional, mental, financial, etc maturity). While i may not always help who i fall in love with, i can choose who i want to be with. It is all about choice and raking an amount of risk for me at least. |

I have been in love (I think) but it built up over time. I think I can end it at any time, I may be depressed (due to being in it for a long time) but I'll get over it. maybe I'm not truly in love then? If you are truly in love, you would know it beyond every reasonable doubt. |

However, sometimes, things happen and love may be unrequitted. I know people who loved someone that could never love them in that way. Even after having a child together.
